Chapter - 5
Every student stood assembled in the hall, their faces filled with disbelief and shock. The weight of the tragedy hung heavy in the air, further amplified by the ghastly image of Irene's lifeless body etched into their minds.
A hushed silence fell over the crowd as Mr Choi, the school principal, stepped forward to address the somber gathering. His voice quivered with emotion as he spoke, navigating the delicate task of delivering the heart-wrenching news.
"As we all know, our student Irene is dead," his voice cracked, the words lingering in the space, causing a collective shudder to ripple through the crowd. The weight of the loss was palpable, and the grief-stricken faces of the students mirrored the pain that echoed in Mr Choi's voice.
"The school will be off tomorrow," Mr Choi continued, his sadness permeating every syllable. The announcement acted as a somber acknowledgement of the deep impact Irene's death had on the entire school community. It was a necessary respite, allowing students a moment to process their emotions and begin to heal amidst the tragic loss that had befallen them.
As Mr Choi's voice faded away, a collective sense of disappointment and frustration welled up within the students. His brief announcement failed to provide the answers they desperately sought, leaving them in a state of confusion and unease.
Disoriented and still in shock, the students reluctantly began to disperse, making their way back to their respective rooms. Their steps were heavy with the weight of the haunting images that lingered in their minds, unable to shake off the reality of what they had witnessed.
Y/N, lost in her own thoughts, couldn't help but feel a sense of restlessness and frustration. The unanswered questions echoed relentlessly in her mind. Who could have committed such a heinous act? What could possibly drive someone to take another's life? However, with no clear direction or guidance, she realized that the search for answers might prove to be an uphill battle.
As the students retreated to their rooms, a prevailing sense of helplessness enveloped them. They yearned for a source of solace, a beacon of hope that could help them navigate through the darkness that had been thrust upon their seemingly safe haven. It was a time of uncertainty, as they grappled with their own grief and the insatiable desire for justice.

A student who studied at Seoul University is found dead on the campus," the news anchor's voice reverberated through the room, capturing Y/N's attention. Her eyes widened as she listened intently to the report, the confirmation that it was a planned murder sent a chill down her spine, intensifying the gravity of the situation.
The Seoul Murder Case, its gripping details and unanswered questions, had become the talk of the town, dominating headlines and sparking debates across various media platforms. The entire campus was consumed by a cloud of uncertainty, as students whispered nervously among themselves, contemplating the chilling possibilities.
Within this climate of fear and speculation, the unsettling notion loomed that the murderer could be lurking within the very walls of the university. The thought that someone they interacted with daily, perhaps even someone from their close-knit friend groups, could be responsible for such a heinous crime sent shivers down their spines.
Trust became a fragile commodity as friendships took on new shades of suspicion. Faces that were once familiar now held a hint of uncertainty, and every interaction carried a heightened sense of scrutiny. No longer could they blindly rely on the assumption of safety within the confines of their university. Instead, a creeping sense of paranoia seeped into their thoughts, making it difficult to discern who to confide in and who to fear.
"That was unexpected, right?" Yuna asked, her voice carrying a mixture of surprise and curiosity, as she absentmindedly blew her hair out of her face.
"Hmm..." Y/N responded with a thoughtful hum, her mind engrossed in Jungkook's cryptic words, her fingers tightening their grip on the pillow she held close. She couldn't help but replay those words in her head, their significance weighing heavily on her thoughts.
"Everyone who dies is not innocent, Y/N." The phrase echoed inside her mind, leaving her with a sense of unease and lingering questions. Why did Jungkook say it? What did he really mean by those words? Was there a hidden message or insight he was trying to convey?
Yet, amidst her ponderings, doubt and apprehension crept in. A flicker of fear danced behind her thoughts, questioning whether Jungkook could be somehow involved in Irene's untimely demise. It was a thought Y/N silently prayed to be untrue, as the connection they shared had once been a source of comfort and support.

The wind bustled through the branches of the trees, creating a haunting melody as the leaves howled in their symphony. Each rustle seemed to whisper secrets of the crime scene, adding to the intricate puzzle that lay before the investigators. With the metallic aroma of blood filling the air, the two men walked forward, their footsteps muffled by the crunch of fallen leaves. They kept a keen eye on every detail of the crime scene, searching for any clue that could lead them closer to the killer. The tension was palpable as they moved cautiously, determined to uncover the truth that lay hidden within the somber university grounds.
The wind, carrying a faint scent of fallen leaves, tousled Mr. Jung's papers as he scrutinized the reports spread before him. Startled by an unexpected voice, he looked up to see two figures standing before him. "Hello? You must be Mr. Jung?" one of them inquired.
"Yeah, that would be me. And you are?" Mr. Jung responded, his curiosity piqued by the strangers in his midst.
"I am Kim Namjoon, and this is Jackson Wang from the investigation team," Namjoon introduced, presenting their IDs for verification.
"Oh, nice to meet you. You already know me, but still, I am Jung Hoseok from the forensic team," he introduced, shaking hands with them.
"So, did you find any leads?" Jackson asked, his gaze lingering on the empty space where the lifeless body once lay, a poignant reminder of the life that had been extinguished. The absence of the body only served to deepen the mystery shrouding the crime scene, leaving an unsettling heaviness in the air.
"Not yet. But we can confirm that it is quite planned," Hoseok said, handing the report to Namjoon.
"Reason?" Namjoon asked, flipping through the pages of the report, his brow furrowed in concentration as he searched for clues to unravel the calculated nature of the crime.
"No fingerprints, no hair strands, no clues at all. The murderer had done everything carefully. It's impossible without a plan. And there is another problem too," Hoseok said, his expression reflecting his concern.
"What problem?" Jackson asked, his voice tinged with curiosity as he waited for Hoseok to reveal the additional challenge that they were facing.
"The murderer leaves a note with the body, here," Hoseok said, handing the note to them.
"'BEWARE'," Jackson read the note aloud. "What is that supposed to mean?"
"You think we should expect another murder soon?" Namjoon asked with a furrowed brow.
"Is the murderer a psychopath?" Jackson questioned, his voice laced with concern at the ominous message left by the killer.
"I don't think it's a psychopath," Hoseok mumbled, deep in thought.
"So, are you telling me it's revenge or something?" Jackson asked, his voice filled with curiosity and a hint of concern.
"Possibly," Hoseok replied, adjusting his glasses as he pondered the motive behind the act.
"Then who? What could be the motive for someone seeking revenge against a student?" Jackson pressed, his brows furrowing in frustration as they delved deeper into the perplexing mystery.
"Maybe another student who got into a fight with her? Maybe her family has enemies? Anything is possible," Namjoon stated, contemplating the potential suspects and motives that could be at play.
"The watchman already stated that no one came from outside. Only the students, teachers, and other workers were present. So maybe the killer must be an insider," Jackson asserted, his voice filled with conviction as he pieced together the limited information they had.
"What if no one saw the killer getting inside?" Namjoon questioned, his tone reflecting the need to consider all possibilities.
"That's possible too," Jackson agreed, acknowledging the potential scenario where the killer managed to slip in undetected.
"Should we inform the school authorities and the media about the note?" Hoseok asked, concerned about the gravity of the situation.
"No, it will be too risky. The students are already terrified. We have to wait," Namjoon decided, his careful consideration of the circumstances leading him to conclude that maintaining secrecy for the time being was crucial for both the safety of the students and the progression of their investigation.
"Why is this case getting more twisted every time I think about it," Jackson murmured, frustration evident in his voice as he absentmindedly scratched his head.
"So, who found the dead body first?" Namjoon inquired, shifting the focus back to the details of the crime scene and the sequence of events.
"A girl named Nayeon saw it first. The girl got afraid and screamed. The gardener and librarian were the first to respond to her," Jackson informed, providing crucial information regarding the witnesses present at the scene.
"Hmm... I want to question them. Take them to the office," Namjoon instructed, his determination to unravel the truth evident in his voice.
"Sure thing," Jackson acknowledged before making his way towards the university, ready to initiate the necessary investigation and interrogation process.

The students after previously having the best time of their life ever, are seemingly quiet and more empty now making the hostel rooms silent as unusual.
"I still can't believe someone murdered Irene," Jimin said.
"It's the millionth time you are telling that after we came to the room," Taehyung said shaking his head.
"Who must have done that?" Jimin asked out of curiosity.
"How am I supposed to know? I was standing right next to you," Taehyung said rolling his eyes.
"Anyway no class tomorrow," Jimin plopped on the bed.
Jimin continued to talk but Taehyung didn't hear anything as his thought was already filled with someone else. When it comes to university, the first thing that comes to Taehyung's mind was Y/N. He really loves to annoy her. It already become a daily habit for him. He always thought Y/N was cute when she gets angry. Even if he doesn't want to accept it, he does have feelings for Y/N.

Jackson glances through the one-way glass into the dimly lit interrogation room. The soft glow of a sunbeam filters through the blinds, casting a gentle warmth upon the worn wooden chair where the girl, Nayeon, is seated. He observes her fidgeting nervously, her eyes darting around the room as she awaits questioning.
Namjoon decides to give Nayeon a few more minutes to compose herself before entering the interrogation room. He observes her lips moving in silent conversation, likely rehearsing her responses in anticipation of the upcoming questions. It is clear from her demeanor that she is nervous, yet there is a genuine sense of cluelessness etched across her face, indicating that she may not have any knowledge or involvement in the mysterious events that have transpired. Namjoon takes a deep breath, preparing himself for the delicate task of unraveling the truth from Nayeon's perspective.
"So you saw the dead body when you went out to call someone, right?" Namjoon asked, his tone gentle and empathetic.
"Yes," Nayeon nodded, her voice barely audible as she mumbled a response.
"Can I know who and why you called that person?" Namjoon inquired, maintaining a reassuring presence in the room.
"It was my brother," Nayeon replied, her voice trembling slightly. "He called me first, but I couldn't hear anything inside. That's why I went outside."
Sensing her struggle to hold back tears, Namjoon offered a supportive presence, allowing her a moment to collect herself before proceeding with further questioning.
"Are you close with the victim?" Namjoon asked, his pen scratching across the paper as he took note of her response.
"A little. We sit together in class," Nayeon replied, her voice laden with a mix of sadness and grief as she wiped away her tears.
"So, did you notice anything or anyone strange leading up to this incident?" Namjoon inquired, extending a box of tissues towards her.
"No, I didn't," Nayeon murmured, accepting the tissues graciously. Her answer was accompanied by a somber shake of her head, indicating her lack of awareness or observation regarding any unusual occurrences before the tragic event.
"When did the gardener and librarian arrive at the scene?" Namjoon inquired.
"The gardener came right after my screaming, and the librarian came behind him," Nayeon responded, her voice regaining a touch of composure.
"Thank you for your cooperation, Miss Nayeon. You can go now," Namjoon said, expressing gratitude for her willingness to provide information. Nayeon nodded, a mix of relief and sadness evident in her expression, before leaving the interrogation room.
Namjoon took a moment to reflect on the conversation, scribbling down additional notes before proceeding with the next steps in the investigation.
