Chapter - 15
Ryujin's footsteps echoed throughout her dimly lit room as she paced back and forth, her nerves frayed and her heart racing with each step. The soft glow of her desk lamp flickered, casting shifting shadows that danced along the walls as she tried to make sense of the chaos that had enveloped her world.
Ryujin paced back and forth in her room, her mind spinning with confusion and fear. "First, Irene eonnie, now Sehun oppa. What's happening here?" she yelled out, her voice trembling with a mix of disbelief and fear, as she nervously bit her nails.
"Just calm down, Ryujin-" Soobin began, attempted to provide a sense of comfort, but Ryujin's mind was a whirlwind of emotions, her thoughts spiraling out of control.
But Ryujin cut him off, her emotions running high. "Calm down? CALM DOWN? Soobin-ah, two of our friends are dead and you are telling me to calm down?" she exclaimed, her frustration and grief palpable in her voice as she struggled to make sense of the tragic events unfolding around them.
As the tension filled the room, the door swung open, and another girl stepped inside, her expression mirroring the confusion and distress that filled the atmosphere. With a stern tone, she scolded, "Will you two lower your voices?" She swiftly closed the door behind her and settled onto the edge of the bed, the weight of uncertainty etched on her face.
Spotting her, Ryujin's eyes widened with relief, and she hurriedly moved towards the newcomer, finding solace in her presence. She sat down beside her, seeking comfort and support in the midst of the turmoil. Soobin, on the other hand, opted for the nearby chair, silently observing the interaction.
"Jennie eonnie," Ryujin whispered, her voice tinged with both desperation and a glimmer of hope.
Confusion clouded Jennie's features as she looked at Ryujin, unable to comprehend the urgency in her voice. "What?" she asked, her brows furrowing as she sought clarification.
Ryujin's desperation grew, the weight of her emotions evident in her plea. "Do you remember Sooya?" she implored, hoping to jog Jennie's memory and find some answers amidst the chaos.
Jennie's expression turned more quizzical as she tried to make sense of the connection. "What about her?" she asked, her confusion deepening.
Weariness tinged Soobin's voice as he couldn't help but interject, "Not again, Ryujin-ah. We've already discussed this," his annoyance palpable.
Ignoring Soobin's protest, Ryujin continued, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and uncertainty. "What if it's her-"
"Just stop it already, Ryujin-ah," he interrupted, his frustration evident as he brushed a hand over his face, trying to regain his composure amidst the overwhelming situation.
Jennie's eyes widened in disbelief as she struggled to process Ryujin's words. "What are you two talking about?" she asked, her voice filled with a mixture of apprehension and confusion.
Ryujin's voice trembled as she tried to articulate her unsettling theory. "Eonnie, just think. What if Sooya is the one who killed-" Her words were cut off abruptly by Jennie's interjection.
"Woah, hold up. What? She is dead," Jennie exclaimed, her voice tinged with disbelief as she rejected the possibility.
Ryujin's panic escalated, her words stumbling out as she desperately tried to convey her certainty. "No. I don't think so... it- it's her. I am sure-" Her voice trailed off, the weight of her suspicion hanging heavily in the air, leaving them all grappling with the unsettling revelation.
Soobin's voice rose, desperation evident in his tone as he shook Ryujin, trying to break through the grip of her escalating panic. "Ryujin, RYUJIN," he urged, his grip firm yet gentle.
"Ryujin, just listen to me, will you? She. Is. Dead," Soobin emphasized each word, his voice pleading for Ryujin to grasp the reality of the situation.
Tears welled up in Ryujin's eyes as she vehemently denied Soobin's words. "No, no, no... you don't understand. It's her. I am sure," she insisted, her voice cracking with a mix of conviction and fear. "She was taking revenge-" Her words trailed off, swallowed by the weight of her own emotions as she struggled to make sense of the truth and her own unsettling suspicions.
"Oh yeah, it's her ghost. We should tell a priest to investigate this case instead of the officers. So that it will be easy to arrest her," Soobin responded with exasperation, his frustration evident in his voice.
Jennie stepped in, trying to diffuse the mounting tension. "You two, it's not time to fight-"
But before Jennie could finish her sentence, Ryujin cut her off, her grip tightening as her eyes brimmed with tears. "Don't you believe me, eonnie?" she pleaded, her voice filled with a mix of desperation and vulnerability, hoping for validation and support from the one who held her tightly.
Jennie's own confusion and uncertainty became apparent in her response. "I- I don't know. Seriously, I don't know," she admitted, her voice filled with a mixture of bewilderment and frustration. "Let's j- just stop discussing her," she suggested, the weight of the situation overwhelming her as she yearned for a respite from the tangled web of suspicions and eerie possibilities.

Taehyung and Jimin entered the library, their gaze shifting towards the group gathered at the counter. They approached Y/N and her friends, their presence causing a ripple of curiosity among them. Taehyung reached out to Y/N, his hand slowly grasping her cap, but she remained unresponsive, her attention seemingly distant. A frown creased his brow, prompting him to lean closer to Beomgyu, his voice barely above a whisper.
"What happened to this girl?" Taehyung questioned, his puzzlement evident as he observed Y/N's detached demeanor.
Eunwoo chimed in, his voice filled with gentle teasing. "You can ask that louder, hyung. She won't hear that too," he commented, his eyes glancing in Y/N's direction.
Beomgyu shrugged, not bothered by Eunwoo's remark. "We don't know either. She's been spacing out like this for the millionth time by now," he replied, dismissively brushing off the question.
Jimin redirected his attention to Y/N, reaching out and gently shaking her. "Hey, Y/N?" he called out, hoping to bring her back from her absent-minded state.
"Huh? What?" Y/N responded, her voice filled with confusion as she blinked, trying to refocus her attention on her surroundings.
"You are spacing out again," Jaehyun's words brought Y/N back to reality, and she snapped out of her thoughts, realizing she had been lost in her own world.
"Oh, sorry," she apologized, feeling a bit embarrassed by her absent-mindedness.
Yuna noticed her friend's unusual behavior and voiced her concern. "What are you thinking so much?" she asked, a hint of worry in her voice as she reached out to comfort Y/N.
Y/N glanced at Yuna, her mind scrambling for an answer. "Huh? Um, exams? Yeah, exams," she quickly replied, attempting to deflect from the true thoughts occupying her mind.
Jin joined the group, playfully teasing Y/N's response. "Who? You? Thinking about exams? I like it. Worldwide funny girl," he remarked, trying to lighten the mood with a touch of humor.
Taehyung, however, sensed something was amiss and directed his concern towards Y/N. "What's wrong, Y/N?" he asked, genuine worry etched on his face as he waited for her response.
Y/N's initial response of "nothing" did little to alleviate Taehyung's worry. He let out a sigh, his concern deepening. "I won't repeat myself, Y/N. What's wrong?" he asked, his tone more demanding this time.
Gulping nervously, Y/N hesitated for a moment before finally opening up. "I was just thinking about the murder case. Something feels off," she muttered, her words laden with unease as she revealed her unsettling thoughts.
"Wah! Is that what stresses you? The investigation team will take care of it. Why are you bothering about it?" Jin exclaimed, his voice filled with surprise and a hint of disbelief.
Y/N's frustration grew, and she couldn't hold back her annoyance. "Then why haven't they found anything yet?" she raised her voice, her tone tinged with impatience as she voiced her concerns.
Jin attempted to calm her down, emphasizing the complexity of the situation. "They need time, Y/N ssi. It isn't a game," he reminded her gently, trying to temper her expectations and remind her of the seriousness and intricacy of the ongoing investigation.
"I don't think they will find it. They have no idea about the murderer at all," Y/N remarked with a hint of frustration and skepticism, her lack of faith in the ongoing investigation evident in her words.
Eunwoo, intrigued by her statement, questioned her further. "So? You know about the murderer?" he asked, his curiosity getting the better of him. But Y/N remained silent, opting not to disclose her suspicions.
Jin, recognizing the direction the conversation was heading, grew concerned. "Look, Y/N ssi. I understand where you are going with this conversation. This is dangerous," he cautioned, his voice laced with worry as he emphasized the potential risks associated with delving too deeply into the case.
"I don't care if it is dangerous. I just want to know why? Who knows if we are going to be victims too," Y/N retorted, her determination overriding any concerns for her own safety. The weight of the unresolved case and the potential threat it posed fueled her need for answers.
Jin's expression grew more serious as he attempted to reason with her. "Y/N ssi, don't let your curiosity kill you," he pleaded, his voice laced with genuine concern for her well-being.
"Why are you trying to stop me? As if you are trying to cover something" Y/N's frustration boiled over, her voice escalating into a yell as she confronted Jin, her sudden mood change catching him off guard. He found himself momentarily shocked by her intensity.
Y/N felt her heart racing as she tried to catch her breath, her eyes wide with fear as she scanned the faces of the people around them in the library. The stares of the onlookers only heightened her anxiety, causing her to tremble even more.
"Y/N, calm down," Taehyung's voice was a reassuring presence as he placed a comforting hand on her back, trying to soothe her. His gaze shifted to the curious stares of the other patrons, silently willing them to turn their attention away from the distressed pair.
Jin's frustration was evident in the way he threw his hands up in the air, a helpless gesture as he tried to make Y/N understand the gravity of the situation. "I just said what I wanted to tell. It's your choice anyway. I just wanted to protect you," he expressed, his words weighted with concern for her safety.
Jaemin's voice chimed in, echoing Jin's sentiments. "I agree with him. It's dangerous," he affirmed, adding his support to Jin's plea for caution. The collective agreement of their friends only served to amplify the sense of urgency in the air.
Jaehyun's voice joined the conversation, emphasizing the unified front they presented. "We all agree, Jaemin ssi," he confirmed, underscoring the shared understanding of the risks they faced.
"So, that's final. Stop thinking about it Y/N. We don't want you to get hurt," she stated, her eyes reflecting the worry that lingered beneath her authoritative facade.
"Whatever," she muttered, the weight of uncertainty pressing down on her despite her friends' attempts to reassure her.

As Hoseok entered the room with a stack of files, his words cut through the tense atmosphere like a blade, offering a new perspective on the unfolding mystery. "I don't think the murder takes place in the crime scene plot. The murderer must have taken the body to the library when no one was there," he posited, his sharp instincts at play as he connected the dots.
Jackson and Namjoon turned their gaze towards Hoseok, their expressions reflecting a mixture of curiosity and intrigue at his theory. "How are you so sure about that?" Jackson inquired, his voice laced with skepticism as he sought to probe Hoseok's reasoning behind his bold assertion.
Hoseok's eyes gleamed with intensity as he seized a marker and approached the whiteboard, his mind already racing with calculations and deductions. With swift strokes, he began sketching out a timeline, marking key points and timestamps with precision.
"Alright, so the victim was reported to be missing around 3 o'clock after a thorough search throughout the campus," he began, his voice steady as he pointed to the corresponding hour on the clock he drew. "The post-mortem report indicates that he died approximately two hours before we discovered the body, which places the time of death between 2-3 o'clock," Hoseok explained, his eyes scanning the room for confirmation.
As he traced his finger along the timeline, connecting the dots with each revelation, the gravity of the situation became clear. "It indicates that by the time of the initial search which takes place before reporting, Sehun was already dead. But the body wasn't found when they searched the library which stands to reason that he was killed somewhere else and the body was transported to the library after that time frame," Hoseok concluded, his marker poised to make one final mark on the board.
With a flourish, he circled the crucial window of time on the whiteboard, the visual representation solidifying the chilling reality of the killer's meticulous plan. The library, once a sanctuary of knowledge, now held the dark secrets of a crime that had been concealed before them.
Namjoon's deduction sent a chill through the room, his words hanging heavy in the tense atmosphere. "Discarded the CCTV in the library, no appearance in any other CCTVs, killed two students inside the university without any evidence. Only an insider can do it. So, It's confirmed, the killer is an insider," his voice was resolute as he connected the dots, the realization sinking in with a sense of finality.
Jackson's question cut through the gravity of Namjoon's revelation, prompting a moment of introspection among the group. "Do you doubt anyone who we investigated?" he inquired, his tone tinged with a mix of concern and suspicion as the implications of having a traitor among them loomed large.
Namjoon considered Jackson's response for a moment before responding with a question of his own. "Do you?" he pressed, his tone reflecting the gravity of the situation and the weight of the accusation they were about to explore.
Jackson hesitated, his mind mulling over the possibilities. "That Jungkook guy..." he trailed off, his voice filled with uncertainty as he voiced his suspicions about their fellow investigator.
Namjoon nodded in agreement. "We can keep an eye on him," he proposed, a steely determination lacing his words. "But first, we need to know why he said he wasn't a good guy," Namjoon added, his focus shifting to uncovering the truth behind Jungkook's cryptic statement.
As Jackson let out a sigh, his longing for being there during the murder was evident in his voice. "How I wish I was there during the murder," he lamented, his frustration with the limitations of their investigation palpable. The desire to witness the crime firsthand, to unravel its intricacies in real-time, hung heavy in the air.
