Marked, and Maybe Mine (cont. of MM)

Pairing: Maki x Harua & Taki
Tone: Jealous chaos → emotional collapse → finally choosing each other
Vibe: "I'm fine" energy vs. "Don't you dare leave me" truth

🔥 SCENE 1: JEALOUSY & THE VENOM VENDOR

Maki's back at the Market, waiting at the velvet booth. Harua and Taki are late. He's leaning against the counter, chewing licorice, pretending not to miss them.

And that's when the Venom Vendor shows up.

She's gorgeous. Dangerous. Wears poison like perfume.

"Haven't seen you around before," she purrs, eyes tracking Maki like a snake that's interested.

"You're Harua and Taki's little thief, right?"
"I hear you're quick with your hands. Among other things."

Maki smirks. He's flattered. A little reckless. He flirts back.
Nothing serious. Just charm.

But when he glances up again—

Taki is standing ten feet away.
Expression unreadable. Smile sharp enough to cut glass.

"Maki," he calls. Light voice. Dangerous undertone. "Didn't realize you were shopping."

Harua's beside him, silent and still, raising one brow in a way that says we're not mad. Yet.

"Didn't realize I had to be supervised," Maki shoots back.

"You don't," Harua says smoothly. "But we do recommend it."

The Venom Vendor bows, amused.

"Protective. Cute."

She vanishes into the crowd.

Taki walks right up, hand brushing Maki's shoulder.

"You're not for sale."

Maki (snorting): "You're acting like I flirted with intent."

Taki (quietly, close): "You're ours. So don't let anyone else taste what we've already claimed."

And for the first time, Harua doesn't correct him.

💔 SCENE 2: THE JOB GONE WRONG — AND THE CONFESSION

They take a job too big.

A memory forge. Cursed and unstable. Everything starts to collapse halfway through.
A collapsing spell. A surge of magic.
Maki gets separated.

When they find him—

He's unconscious. Bleeding. Holding the object like it matters more than his own life.

Taki drops beside him instantly, shaking him hard.

"Don't you dare."
"You don't get to leave just because you're dramatic!"

Harua presses a hand to Maki's chest, lips tight, muttering a healing spell through clenched teeth.

"You stupid, reckless, infuriating thief—"

Maki groans, barely conscious.

"Still yours... right?"

Taki's laugh breaks into a sob.

"Not funny."

"Didn't mean it to be."

Later, back at the Market, Maki sits wrapped in three blankets, sipping bitter tea, still pale but alive.

Taki refuses to leave his side.

Harua is polishing a blade like he didn't just almost panic.

Maki looks at them both.

"I don't want to be yours part-time."

Taki freezes.

Harua looks up.

"I mean it," Maki says. "I don't want to survive another cursed job just to go back to pretending I'm not in love with both of you."

Silence.

Then Harua puts down the blade. Walks over.

Leans down. Tilts Maki's chin up.

"Then don't pretend."

Taki kisses his temple.

"You're ours. Fully. Permanently. No escape."

"Even if you flirt with snake women again."

"Especially if."

Maki grins through the exhaustion.
Reaches out. Pulls them both in.

And for once, he's not stealing anything—

He's finally keeping it.

🔮 SCENE: The Moonlight Marriage Rites

It begins at exactly 11:59 p.m., because love isn't legally binding in the Market until it's officially "dangerously late."

The ceremony is hosted by a sentient mirror, officiated by an ex-demon named Bloop (don't ask), and witnessed by every vendor in the Market, including the Venom Lady, who smirks knowingly at Maki the entire time.

Harua wears deep obsidian robes. Taki wears layered charms and no shoes. Maki wears his most chaotic grin and a knife tucked into his belt just in case.

Bloop (echoing voice): "Do all parties consent to binding their fates, their magic, and their emotional baggage for the rest of their cursed existence?"

Taki: "With flair."

Harua: "Yes. And don't call it baggage."

Maki: "I brought snacks. So yeah."

The ritual requires:

A drop of blood (from Maki)

A lie (from Taki, who says "I'm not emotionally invested" and promptly bursts into laughter)

And a truth Harua has never said out loud.

He hesitates. The Market listens.

Then he looks at Maki.

"You were never just a favor. You were always mine—even when I didn't deserve you yet."

The Market shudders.

The moon blinks out for one second—then flares gold.

A thread of shimmering ribbon binds their wrists.

Bloop: "By Market law and full-moon nonsense: you're cursedly wed. Go be weird and in love."

💋 POST-RITUAL: Married, Market-style

Back at the booth, they collapse into a heap of velvet, curses, and one very smug Maki.

Maki: "So... am I allowed to kiss you both now?"

Taki: "You're legally obligated to."

Harua: "There's paperwork."

🛋️ DOMESTIC LIFE AT THE MARKET: Maki, Assistant of Mayhem

Post-marriage, Maki becomes an "official" assistant at the velvet booth.

Problem is—he's terrible at it.

He sells a sleep charm to a ghost ("I thought they were just really pale!")

Rearranges Harua's delicate sigils into a smiley face

Tries to enchant the broom to clean by itself (it attacks Taki instead)

But.

He also:

Remembers every regular's name

Leaves tea by Harua's elbow without being asked

Pulls Taki away from the curse work when his hands start shaking

And some nights, when the Market closes early and the three of them are curled under mismatched blankets, Maki whispers:

"I never thought I'd belong anywhere."

Taki presses his forehead to Maki's.

Harua kisses his knuckles.

"You belonged here," they say together,
"Before you even walked in."

💬 Final Line:

The Market stays wild.
The curses stay complicated.
The love stays loud.

And Maki?
He's no longer just a thief.

He's a husband.
A menace.
And exactly where he's supposed to be.
