chapter one:
the washington sisters
The distant sound of laughter wasn't hard to miss, along the kitchen counter laid numerous bottles of alcohol and red solo cups. The clock had just struck midnight and while most of the teenagers had been busy doing their own thing, Hazel was right in the middle of Josh and Chris.
Her lips rose upwards as she grinned and grabbed a hold of a bottle of alcohol that was brand new. Josh likely raided it from his parent's cabinet. "You two won't last at least ten shots! I bet you'll be drunk and passed out before these bottles are even empty".
She set the bottle down as she pulled the top off and chuckled slightly "oh yeah, you wanna make a bet? Because me and Chris here are gonna prove you wrong". She smiled slightly "ah you're being reckless now Joshua, might just have to take your offer on this one. if I win you're totally running outside naked! Both of you! And I get to record it".
Chris laughed "no way dude! There's no way I'm doing that! Josh, could you maybe control your girlfriend!". Hazel let out a soft hum as Josh gripped her waist slightly "alright fine, you don't have to be naked, but you're at least running outside! It'll be funny and if I lose, I'll run outside naked".
Josh's eyes widen slightly "oh now you're just making me more determined to win, seeing you naked while running through snow would be the highlight of my night, of course if you don't freeze to death".
Hazel hit his shoulder slightly "you're definitely losing, I can handle my alcohol a lot more than you two idiots, I mean Chris literally threw up after four shots earlier! He's a lightweight, both of you are".
She chuckled when Chris smacked his cup down on the counter "oh yeah, I'll prove you so wrong" he smirked and while she would crack a half assed joke she instead gave into his mischievous ways.
She poured the alcohol straight into his cup and looked at him with a grin "you're so losing". He grabbed the cup with confidence and downed it in one big gulp, Joshua cheered while patting Chris's shoulders. "And that is how it's done!".
Hazel rolled her eyes as she poured more alcohol into her cup, Chris and Josh kept howling as they held their cups into the air. "Wow who would've known there was a pack of wild wolves out here with us".
Her sarcastic tone made the boys howl louder as she huffed slightly and set her cup down onto the counter. "Alright boys, it's totally on, first one to pass out is the loser and last one to pass out is the sole winner".

Hazel felt lightheaded and confused when she opened her eyes, her head weakly resting along the counter as she felt someone pushing her shoulder aggressively. "Hazel, I need your help" she blinked and sat up when she caught sight of Beth.
"What? What are you talking about?" Beth pushed the cup of water into the girl's hand before she could even process what was happening. "Thank god, there's no way I'm spending the weekend alone, everyone else is nowhere to be seen and it's only one in the morning! We're supposed to be having fun, not passing out".
Hazel chucked slightly "you're totally just bored, I'm not that drunk, just sorta took a nap once Chris and Josh decided to end the fun early, they lasted thirty minutes before they started tumbling over themselves. It was kinda entertaining to watch".
Beth chuckled "my brother isn't good with alcohol, at least you kept it under control". Hazel smiled "yeah I'm pretty good at that, keeping these idiots in control is the highlight of my life. Someone's gotta make sure they don't get alcohol poisoning".
She sat up off the chair and wobbled slightly. She let out a breath of air as she caught herself on the counter. "Maybe we could watch a movie? At least that way we didn't waste tonight by doing nothing together".
Hazel looked at Josh "I shouldn't leave him here like that, looks uncomfortable". Beth shrugged her shoulders "he'll be fine, besides if you move him he'll just throw up all over the place. Last time he did that our dad was pissed, he ruined the carpets".
Hazel looked at Beth and then at Josh "carpets are replaceable, waking up hungover not in your room is another story, I'll just help him into his room and then I'll meet you in the cinema room. I'll be five minutes at best, could go faster if you help".
Beth chuckled "no way, my brother got himself into this mess he can handle it on his own. You're way too good for him Hazel, I'll be in the cinema room picking out movies that don't suck".
She walked off and Hazel sighed deeply "well here goes nothing". She groaned as she grabbed a hold of Josh "you're heavy!" He mumbled under his breath as she dragged him towards the stairs.
"You so owe me in the morning for this" she gripped the stair railing tightly as she made her way towards his room. Five minutes had passed and she was still dragging him up the stairs "this is gonna take forever, Josh maybe you could wake up! Help me out here".
She let out a heavy breath as she kept walking "oh god, what is Josh making you do now". She looked upwards and smiled slightly "thank god, Hannah could you help me out here a little bit, your brother is ridiculously heavy as shit".
Hannah ran down the steps grabbing a hold of one of Josh's arms the weight shifted off of Hazel making her let out a breath of relief. "Could've left him passed out in the kitchen, he would never do this for you if he were in your position right now".
Hazel smiled weakly "I know, but it didn't feel right leaving him down there passed out. At least he'll be comfortable in his room until morning". She pushed open Josh's door with her foot while Hannah chuckled "you're like way too good for my brother".
Hazel turned and huffed "you sound just like Beth when you say that, besides I doubt he'll even be with me once we graduate. It's just a temporary thing".
She sets Josh down onto the bed and Hannah shakes her head "he'd be an idiot to dump you, you're like perfect for him. Even if he's too idiotic to see it". Hazel sighed as she pushed the blanket over Josh "I just don't see it lasting is all, I mean he's been distant lately and he rarely talks to me unless someone else is around. It's like he's ashamed of me".
"He's not ashamed of you Hazel, he's just confused probably. And you're slightly drunk, so you'll think anything at this rate". Hazel chuckled softly "yeah, a little bit. I gotta meet Beth, you can join if you want, we're gonna watch some cheesy movie probably".
"I have something to do first, but maybe after" Hannah smiled softly before she approached the door, she grabbed a candle off the table before she left the room. Hazel turned slightly as she looked down at Josh, he was unconscious and likely wouldn't wake up till morning. "You'll thank me in the morning for this Josh, don't throw up all over the bed".
She kissed his cheek before she left the room and ran down the steps towards the kitchen. Beth sighed in annoyance as she held onto piles of cups "gosh my brother is a slob, I gotta pick this up or else I'll hate myself in the morning for not cleaning".
The moment slipped away when Beth looked outside the kitchen window "holy shit, did you see that? I could've sworn I just saw someone out there". Hazel frowned deeply "maybe trick of the eye? I mean I doubt anyone is actually out there, your parents made sure it was just us here this weekend".
Beth looked anxious and Hazel smiled softly "but I will go and wake Josh, have him check it out just for you. Then we can watch that cheesy movie". Beth nodded as she watched the girl quickly run up the stairs, her gaze slipped away towards the note that rested on the counter.
"What did Hannah get herself into now...".
Hazel walked into Josh's room, the boy was still asleep with his face weakly shoved into his pillow as he laid on his stomach. "Josh?" she approached the bed pushing against his shoulder softly "hey, wake up. Beth saw someone outside". He didn't even flinch or show any signs of waking up as she pushed his shoulders again. "Joshua!" her thoughts were cut off by the loudness of Hannah crying as she ran past the room. She ran out the room "Hannah! What's wrong?".
She tripped on the bottom step but she ignored the ache it caused as she neared the front door. It was wide open and she shivered as she watched Hannah sprint past everyone straight for the woods. She went to grab her jacket but she was stopped by Beth, the girl looked at her "don't, I'll get her. You stay here and take care of my brother alright".
Hazel looked at the girl with concern "Beth, are you insane! You can't just go out there in this weather, we can all go and find her. What the hell happened anyways?". Beth shoved her boots on quickly "I'll tell you when I get back, I gotta get her".
"What! Wait... Beth!" the girl ran off going the same direction Hannah went. Hazel was anxious and quickly ran up the stairs towards Josh's room. "Joshua!" She was desperate as she tugged at his arm.
"Come on please wake up, I'm worried about your sisters going out there! You have no idea what's out there, Josh... Joshua!".

authors notes:
Gosh I love this game so fucking much!!!! The amount of times I've played it is insane, I played this a few months ago and it was a vibe all over again. I literally can't wait for the remastered version to come out, I'm gonna buy that so fast. I don't even care, this was one of the first games I've played and loved every second of it, the plot twists were insane. Plus the wendigo just makes it better and so scary. In conclusion I'm so back!!!! Updating something new for once, proud accomplishment. A basic first chapter of course, the intro of this game is a classic!
