chapter four:
stomach pain

Waking up almost every day with intense stomach aches and it ending with vomiting. Was not on Hazel's bucket list of things she wanted to experience at least once in her life. At first she thought it was something bad she ate, until the pattern repeated every few days and it never ended. She ate and then it would leave her body so fast she would forget what it tasted like.

Her parents didn't notice, she stopped eating certain food to see if it would help but all that remained was the same pattern. She was exhausted and she missed Josh, he didn't answer her calls or messages. She knew he was home but he didn't care about her, that he just left her all alone. Hazel didn't like doctors and she refused to attend an appointment after the pattern went on for a solid week.

Yet somehow she ended up inside an office, a gown wrapped perfectly around her body as she sat on the table. Her feet dangled in the air as the door creaked open and the nurse walked inside with a small smile. "Hello dear, the doctor will be with you momentarily, she's currently helping another patient".

Hazel didn't smile, the thought of seeing a doctor made her anxious as she nodded weakly. "I'm going to ask you some questions in the meantime, just a few basic questions we ask all our patients with these symptoms". Hazel watched as the woman typed into a computer, the loud noise made her headache.

"When did the stomach pains start?" Hazel sighed weakly "about three weeks ago, I didn't think much of it but then I kept vomiting all the food I was eating. I did a diet change, tried less fat food and sugar, but it was the same regardless".

"When was your last menstrual cycle and was it regular?" Hazel didn't even think of that, then again she was stressed so maybe it was just late. "Like last month or something, I've been stressed lately and I tend to skip or be late when that happens".

"When was the last time you had intercourse" her eyes widened "what does that have to do with anything?". She felt embarrassed almost as she picked at the ends of her fingernails nervously, the pieces were slowly moving together. She felt her body tense, it couldn't be, she was always cautious and safe and it's not like Josh would ever purposely do this to her.

Unless he didn't even realize and she completely forgot about it herself due to just stress and everything going on in her life. "Well it's possible you could be pregnant, we will take a urine sample to be sure". Hazel felt like she wanted to throw up all over again as she looked at the cup that was handed to her.

The timeline technically would match perfectly, and if it was true she was terrified of what could happen. It's not like she could call Josh and just mention she could be pregnant and it's definitely his. He broke up with her, ended it without even looking at her. He would think she's joking or tell her she's crazy and it's all a lie that she needs to take another test.

Another part of her imagined him being happy, that they're still together and happy. She pictured Hannah and Beth weren't missing and they're holding her hand as she looks at the test results. Everything was changing and it made her miserable, she missed Josh.

The way things were before the lodge, before she even knew Hannah and Beth. Just Josh, and his perfect smile and beautiful eyes that always helped her mind ease. The pranks he'd pulled on her half the time were cheesy and yet somehow she stuck around despite his bad sense of humor. She didn't care about any of those things or his mental health issues, she just cared about Josh.

Part of her thought the stomach pain and all the vomiting was guilt. Hannah and Beth ran into those woods and they never came back, she thought of it every single day. She'd close her eyes and picture the horror on their faces, that image was engraved inside her eyelids. She hoped whatever happened, that they went peacefully if they did die. That they aren't trapped down somewhere lost and alone, scared while everyone else keeps going forward.

Being pregnant wasn't on her bucket list, not to mention the father of said baby ignoring her completely. She tried to call and tell him but all that she got back in return was his voicemail. She didn't know who to tell or what to even do, Josh would probably be upset if she didn't tell him. Then again it's not like it mattered, he broke up with her.

So she went at it alone, the months went by oddly slowly and she still didn't get any calls or messages from Josh. Then the snow started sticking to the ground and that's when the guilt for Hannah and Beth got so strong Hazel couldn't even think anymore. No one called, no one texted. Nothing for days and months, then out of the blue she got a text message from Josh. A video file from the boy himself.

If only she knew she'd regret clicking on the video.

authors note:
Can you tell I rushed writing this act so I could get to the actually game... (yes). I honestly should've just done the game to begin with but whatever, this is just basic chapters that are fillers and short so does it matter? Not really. The real intense stuff is coming! Those chapters I'm not rushing so it'll likely be a few days or hours till those are out, I'm making it my goal to complete this by the end of the month. So I'm gonna focus on this and maybe once it's done or even before I'll get another fic out for until Dawn. I'm thinking Sam & Chris for love interests because they don't have any fics on here. Also might make a Hannah one, I mean the idea of seeing your girlfriend as a wendigo is crazy! Trust that will be out soon, I'm so gonna write that draft up after work. Anyways it's bed time I gotta wake up at 9 (it's 4...). Oops, bye!
