ƒօմɾ - the rebel without a cause
Indigo wondered if it was actually safe leaving Dion at her house. It was too late now, he'd already slept there, and ate her food.
Midge Klump, grinning wildly stepped up to her best friend. Midge paused, "What are you thinking about that's making you pout like that?"
Indigo smiled softly, "Lack of trust on the home front."
Midge nodded like she understood, but she had no clue what was really going on. As far as any of her friend's were concerned, Indigo's parents went on a lot of business travels, and her brother was on a road trip.
Midge threw her arm over Indigo's shoulder pulling her into the school. They would stop at the student lounge like always, so Indigo could get food from the vending machine. She had already eaten, but Indigo didn't mind packing on a few more pounds for the delicious fakeness of the school's prepackaged muffins.
Once she got her good, she sat next to Midge who happily chatting it up with the Bulldogs.
The Serpents, from across the room, sent random sporadic glances her way. Indigo kept her focus on the hands, twiddling with her thumbs awkwardly instead of eating her muffin like she normally did.
That's when he walked in. The rebel without a cause, the beanie wearing boy from the wrong side of the track, the only one still wearing his leather jacket.
In any other circumstance, Indigo would've laughed. Jughead had balls, she could admit that, but that would get him in trouble. She didn't want to be there when it did.
"Oh, hey, guys, what's up?" Midge was glaring at the boy whilst Indigo merely smirked. Jughead sauntered over to the vending machine scanning over its contents.
That's when Reggie noticed. "Take it off." Indigo shook her rapidly, "Reggie, don't."
Reggie dropped his basketball pushing away from the couch. "Take off that jacket, Rat Boy."
Jughead sighed, slowly twirling around. The Serpents were ready to protect their own, and Jughead these days seemed all about getting himself in the worst trouble he could be in.
"Oh, Reggie. I don't think you know what this jacket means. Because you have no sense of honor. Or history, or loyalty."
"That's it." Indigo watched everything slow down. Reggie grabbed onto Jughead's jacket ready to attack. The Serpents ran to back Jughead whilst the Bulldogs ran to back Reggie.
Midge leant over, "I'm getting Bulldogs win."
Indigo couldn't quite hear her friend's words. Before she knew it, Indigo was running to join. All that anger, and fear that had built was dying to be release. Indigo just wanted to hit someone.
She did. Indigo sent a clean shot taking home on Reggie's jaw. It was clear to everyone that the Bulldog was surprised by Indigo's new found violence. So much so, that Reggie threw her back onto the ground.
The Serpents roared. All charging at the Bulldogs. Even if Indigo left, she was still on of their own, they would protect her.
Veronica, passing by, noticed the brawl. "Oh, my God.
Mr. Weatherbee..."

"You all have a week's detention for fighting." Principal Weatherbee stopped, his vision landing on Indigo. "Ms. Rivera, I'm very disappointed in you." Indigo found the loose strings from the bottom of her sweater more interesting than Weatherbee's gaze.
The principal sighed, fixating his vision on Jughead instead. "I made myself clear to you, Mr. Jones. Take off that jacket right now, or you're suspended."
"Please Jughead, just—"
"Then, I guess I'm suspended."
The principal dismissed them. Indigo was ready to go home. "Indigo!" Fangs whisper yelled, "Indigo!"
The boy latched onto Indigo's arm tugging her back. "What?!" Fangs paused, a bit in shock by her apparent range. "Uh, why, uh, why did Weatherbee single you out like that."
"Not that it's any of your business, but he mad an exception, and let me come to school without having parents. He made me promise to stay on my best behavior. That's all it was."
"Indigo, I'm sorr—"
"I have to get home."
"Yeah, sure. I'll see ya later I guess."

"How was the vacay?" Indigo pushed the door open to find Dion watching tv. "I brought Pops. I don't know what you like so I just got you a burger, and coke."
Curiously, Indigo stepped up to the quiet boy's side. In his lap, lay a piece of history Indigo couldn't quite find in herself to burn. "Did FP send you? I told him I could handle myself."
"What?" Indigo didn't understand this kid in any way. "Did FP send you?"
"No. I'm not apart of the Serpents anymore. I retired."
"Why?" Dion inquired.
Indigo laughed, it wasn't humorous, in fact the opposite, she was making fun of herself. "I let you sleep in my house, give you my brother's clothes, feed you, and now you wanna question me?"
"Fine! Ask your questions."
Indigo paused, plopping down on the couch next to Dion she pulled out his food. "Those guys chasing you, they were Ghoulies?"
Dion simply nodded, not in the mood to speak. "Why were they after you?"
"Because I chose the wrong side."
"Am I supposed to know that means?" Indigo took a slurp of her chocolate shake. It was her brother's favorite as well.
"I helped the Serpents. Kept them updated on everything that happened, but my brother—my half brother found out."
"And your brother is who?" Indigo wasn't quite sure she wanted to know the answer. She heard what the Ghoulies said last night, he must've been important to them.
"Malachai."
"Holy Crap! You're Dion." Everyone knew of the Ghoulie Prince. Half brother to Malachai, he was ruthless. Dion simply nodded. He could feel her penetrating state knowing full well she knew who he was. He didn't want Indigo to find out.
"And you? Why did you retire from the Serpents?" Dion inquired hoping to change the subject off of himself.
"My brother wanted to leave the Serpents, and they let him. Malachai, well Malachai didn't care that he left, he was still a snake. So, he murdered him."
"So you left for your brother?"
"My brother wanted to get out, and he died. It didn't seem fair that I would stay."
"Do you trust me now?"
"For the most part."
