(19) I'll Keep Her Until You Come Back

Bella's POV:

I heard the knock at the door and opened it slightly then peaked my head outside to the see the strange man standing with the tray of food and juice.

"This is for you," he said.

"I don't want it," I said feeling scared. I only felt comfortable taking food from Nate.

The strange man fixed a Bluetooth in his ear and nodded his head.

"It's from Nate. He is out but he sends this for you and told me to remind you to take your medicine."

I looked at him suspiciously. I didn't want to take it but I was hungry, so I took the tray from him and locked the door quickly.

I ate lunch then took my medicines because they were helping my ankle in healing. I could walk with ease now unlike before and my fever was at bay too. I looked at the locked windows again and attempted to open them but they didn't budge.

With disappointment, I sat back down on the bed. I had searched the whole room and bathroom twice, there was nothing that could help me, no scissors, no knife, not even a nail clipper.

My rest of the day went with nothing but staring at the wall or dozing off from boredom.

I heard the knock at the door and got up. I noticed it was ten pm and assumed that someone brought dinner for me.

"Bella, it's me," Nate said from the outside.

I sighed and opened the door. He came inside and hugged me.

"You were right! I spoke with her and she agreed to go on a date with me," he said excitedly.

"I'm so happy for you!" I replied.

"Did you take your medicine?" He inquired.

"I was waiting for the dinner," I told him hesitantly.

He cupped my face looking worried.

"Teresa and Larson, didn't give you dinner?"

I looked at him confused.

"Teresa and Larson? Who are they?" I asked him.

"Teresa is a Gothic chick," he replied.

"Umm...no. I haven't seen any girl in this house except me," I said.

He looked angry and I didn't understand why.

"I'll get you something to eat, don't worry," Nate said placing a kiss on my head.

I didn't know why but I felt like he was my actual brother. The honest care in his eyes for me was enough to melt my heart for another man other than Gabriel.

Half an hour later, Nate came back with McDonald's bag in his hand.

"I'm sorry. There was nothing in the kitchen that you would like to eat so I had to run down to get this," he said handing me the bag.

"Thanks, but you didn't have to do this," I said.

"Did you expect me to let you sleep empty stomach? If I knew you haven't eaten anything I would have brought dinner for you," he said. "Anyways, eat this then take your medicines while I go and talk to that bastard."

Nate left the room and you locked it. Taking out the burger from the bag, I ate it then took my medicine.

After an hour later, I couldn't keep my eyes open and fell asleep.

Suddenly, wild knocks at the door woke me up. I got up from the bed feeling scared.

"Open the door!"

I heard Tristan yelling from outside the door.

"She's probably asleep, let's go."

I heard Nate speak in a hushed voice.

"Tell her to open the door or I will knock it down. You know I can do it," Tristan said to Nate.

I gulped in fear because things didn't look good.

"Bella if you're awake then open this door. Tristan wants to talk to you," Nate said.

Trusting on Nate's word, I unlocked the door and they barged in. Tristan made his way to me and captured my forearm roughly then pushed me on the wall.

I flinched in pain.

"Why does Gabriel care for you so much? What is your relationship with him?" He shouted at me loudly.

I didn't want to look fragile but my body was trembling in terror.

I opened my mouth and attempted to speak but nothing came out. My mouth was opening and closing like a fish.

"Don't you even dare to lie to me!" He spat at me with venom.

"He loves me," I whispered.

A villainous smirk appeared on his face.

"Oh, really? Then we should take his test and find out how much he loves you, shouldn't we?" He asked letting my arm go and moving away from me.

I let go of the breath that I was holding. Nate sighed rubbing his forehead, he looked relieved.

"Nate, punch her in the face and make sure she spills some blood," he ordered Nate staring at me.

My eyes widened in alarm when his words landed into my ear.

"What? I'm not going to punch her!" Nate yelled.

"I'm giving you a chance to protect her. If you won't hit her then I will. And you know pretty well that people die on the spot after receiving my single punch," Tristan said with the teasing glint in his eyes.

Nate glanced at me and he looked like he wanted to destroy everything.

"Do it, Nate!" Tristan yelled making me jump.

"I'm so sorry, Bella. Please, stay still okay," Nate pleaded me while looking at my pale face.

I couldn't believe that he was going to hit me just after promising to protect me.

I felt a solid punch in my face and I started to see stars. At that moment, I realized how Ryder must have felt when Rapunzel hit him on the head with the frying pan.

"Ow," A sound full of pain left my mouth.

I felt the metallic taste in my mouth knowing it was blood. The memories of my past rushed in front of my eyes.

"I'm so sorry, Bella," Nate said frantically accessing my face.

I looked at his face and everything appeared black and white. The pain in my head increased when I tried to focus.

Someone grabbed my hair and dragged me out of the room.

"Tristan, what are you doing?" Nate yelled.

I glanced up to look at Tristan dragging me brutally towards the basement. He had the murderous look in his eyes and his face held resentment.

As soon as we arrived in the basement, I saw Gabriel lying on the floor. He looked exhausted and beaten brutally. There were huge slashes on his arms and his foot was bleeding too. Three men were surrounding him, keeping him from getting up.

A cry of anguish escaped my mouth at the sight of the battered body. When he heard me crying his eyes opened and he looked at me. He struggled to get up but the man kicked him in the ribs making him fall on the ground again.

I struggled to get out of Tristan's hold but he pulled me back with a merciless tug on my hair. I cried out in pain staying rooted at my spot.

"I'm going to fuck this girl in front of you and of all these men, right here. You will hear her beg and scream for hours," Tristan said harshly pulling me closer to him.

I shuddered in disgust at his words. I knew he wasn't bluffing.

"Remove your filthy hands from her," Gabriel yelled with the vigor. He growled loudly and tried to get up once again only to be pushed down.

"And if you want to keep her virtues intact then tell me the truth," Tristan said with rancor. "I know she is a virgin, I had checked."

Gabriel got up from the ground and punched Tristan on the jaw so quickly that it felt humanly impossible. I clutched his shoulder in shock.

"Tell me he didn't touch you, Bella," he asked me while Tristan was getting up from the ground with a broken nose.

"He is lying, Gabriel," I told him to calm him down.

Tristan pulled out a handkerchief from his suit pocket and cleaned his nose, not caring that Gabriel had punched him.

"Now, start from the beginning, Gabriel. I haven't touched your girl yet but I don't promise it will stay like that forever."

Gabriel looked at me and sighed.

"If I tell you the truth you will let her go," he asked Tristan.

"I will let her go when I think she deserves it," I spat.

"I'm the son of Frank Emerson," Gabriel confesses.

"I fučking knew it," Tristan said.

Nate cursed under his breath looking at me with sympathy.

"But I was adopted by Russell's right after my birth," Gabriel added.

"You were adopted by someone else when your father has a shit load of money to afford as many children as he wants. That's a fućking lie!" Tristan mocked Gabriel, not believing him.

"Mr. and Mrs. Russell were married for years but they couldn't conceive their own child. They were very old friends of my parents and adopted me. I don't know anything about Emerson's. I have never been in contact with them in twenty years of my life. I lived in Italy all these years with my adoptive parents," Gabriel told him.

Tristan laughed loudly.

"Do you think I am a fool?" Tristan asked Gabriel.

"It's up to you to believe me or not, but I am not lying," Gabriel said.

"So the rumors were right. They send you Italy so you would keep the chip safe. What a master plan? I have to say Emerson's are fučking smart when it comes to manipulating people," he yelled.

"I have no idea what you're talking about. I don't know what my biological family had done to you but I am not involved in it," Gabriel said.

Tristan punched Gabriel on the face and he fell down on the ground with me in his arms. Gabriel looked dangerously vulnerable. He was hardly breathing now, his eyes were closing.

I cupped his face.

"Please, stay awake!"

Tristan walked closer to Gabriel when I pushed him in anger.

"Stay away from him you bastard! He isn't lying. He doesn't know anything. Leave him alone!" I was screaming at the top of my lungs while tears were running down from my face.

I couldn't watch him suffer any longer.

"I need that chip, tell him," Tristan yelled at me.

"Gabriel, do you know anything about any chip?" I asked him.

Gabriel shook his head sitting up on the ground holding his head.

"I don't know anything about the chip," he said.

Tristan kneeled down and grabbed Gabriel's face harshly.

"You were with Gabe Emerson when he was killed. You were the only person with him a few days prior to his death," Tristan said.

"I have no idea who is Gabe Emerson!" Gabriel mumbled.

"That bastard was your grandfather and an untrustworthy traitor," Tristan yelled.

I looked at Gabriel and he looked as shocked as me.

"I don't know I have a grandfather," Gabriel said.

"You had a grandfather. After he murdered my father, his true friends killed Gabe Emerson," Tristan commented getting up.

"Then what do you want from me? You have taken the revenge," Gabriel spat in anger.

"I want a freaking chip that your bastard grandfather stole from us," Tristan shouted.

"I swear I don't know where it is. Maybe my family knows something about the chip," Gabriel muttered.

Nate walked closer to us and said, "Tristan, I think he isn't lying. His passport is proof that he hasn't been in the US before."

"It doesn't prove anything," Tristan spat.

"It does, Tristan. Didn't it say in the file that Gabe's grandson was injured badly on the head? Maybe he had lost his memory and they send him to Italy to keep him safe," Nate said.

I thanked Nate internally, at least he was trying to protect us even though things didn't look redeemable.

"I think you are right, Nate. All these years, they hid him so well and we all believed he died. Now, he is alive but doesn't remember anything," Tristan said clenching his hands.

"If he doesn't remember anything then what is the point of keeping him here? We should let him go," Nate suggested.

Suddenly a smirk appeared on Tristan's face. I knew his evil brain was scheming once again to inflict pain on Gabriel in another way.

"If he doesn't remember anything keeping him here is useless. We should let him go," Tristan said.

Tristan called his man and whispered something in his ear. He left the basement and came back with a transparent bag that had injections in it.

I moved closer to Gabriel but Tristan grasped my hair and pulled me towards him. Two men attacked Gabriel from behind and grabbed him.

"I'm sending you back to your family Gabriel. Ask them to give you the chip. When you have what I want then come and get your girl. I'll keep her until you come back with the evidence and trust me my men will be watching your every move," Tristan said in a slow voice.

"I'll ask them about the chip but you can't keep her here. Let her leave!" Gabriel screamed thrashing.

"You're in no position of a bargain. It's your time to leave this place," Tristan said.

The two men injected Gabriel with something and he fell down on the ground limp.

Gabriel's red bloodshot eyes held mine before shutting completely off.

They started to drag him away from the room. The sight of him being dragged out of the room was too much for me to handle. I realized I was going to be alone with these men.

I fell down on my knees on the floor with the tears streaming down from my eyes. My hands grasped my hair and I pulled them in frustration.

I screamed in agony clutching my chest. I had this weird feeling in my chest like I was watching him for the last time.

I felt dizzy and puked my guts out. My head began to spin and I glanced around.

Nate came to me rubbing my back. Everything started to fade and I fell unconscious.
