(18) I Finally Figured Out Who You Are

Tristan's POV:

I was furious at the incident that happened with Bella last night. I knew Nate and I wouldn't always be in the house to protect her. And I didn't want her to go through something like that again in my house so I called some of my most trusted people to guard her in the house.

They would be going to join us in this house tomorrow.

I heard the knock at my door and opened it with the controller.

"Where were you?" I asked him as he entered my study.

"I was with Bella," he replied.

"Right. Babysitting her is your only job, isn't it?" I mocked him.

"She was upset after last night and I was consoling her. She's only seventeen, living among the strangers," he said.

"She is going to be eighteen soon," I said cursing myself for slipping that information out.

"How do you know that?" He asked confused.

"I read her file to find if she was related to Emerson's in any way,"  I said. "Did you get any more information about Gabriel?"

Nate nodded his head and pulled out his phone.

"Gabriel Russell is twenty years old. He is a student at a prestigious college in Italy. He's the son of famous business tycoon Andre Russell. His passport shows that it was his first time in Colombia. He went to stay with Emerson for a day because they were his parents' friends. Then he joined the summer camp and our men kidnapped them. That is all. There's no information that he is related to Emerson's," he said.

"He looks like a spitting image of Gabe Emerson. You can't deny that possibility Nate."

"I'm not denying it but there is no evidence to prove that our observation is correct," Nate argued.

"I can't forget the face that man who killed my father. Gabriel is hiding something or you are missing something out. He is related to them someway," I said.

"I don't think so, Tristan. I think both of them are innocent and we should let them go," Nate said staring at me with the hopeful look on his face.

"I can't set them free, not yet. There are still so many questions that are unanswered. I have this gut feeling that Gabriel is the same kid I have been looking for all these years," I told him.

"We have tried everything from beating him to starving him but he has been repeating the same things. He doesn't know anything, Tristan," Nate said.

"I know torture is not affecting him anymore. There must be something to break him. I want to know his weakness and he will start talking like a siren," I said.

Nate gave me a disappointment look and shook his head. But it wasn't his fight and he had no idea why I was so adamant to know if Gabriel was related to Emerson's or not.

"I wouldn't be home tonight, I need to go to the club," he said.

"You can go," I said dismissing him.

"But I am worried about leaving Bella alone. Can I take her with me?" He asked.

"Are you insane?" I snapped standing up from the chair. "Police must be searching her and if they find out she is hanging with you then that information can lead them easily here."

"I'll just take her to the club and ask her to wear the mask," he said.

"I am tempted to punch you in the face, Nate. You want to take her to a club where drunkards are going to be everywhere. What if something like last night would happen again?" I asked him.

"I didn't think that. You're right."

I sat down and took the sip of water.

"I have called Teresa and Larson to guard her. I knew you wouldn't be in the house all the time," I said. Deliberately, I didn't tell him that they would be coming here tomorrow, not today. But I knew I would be staying here today and she would be safe.

Nate's eyes widened in shock and he looked ready to throw himself on me.

"I don't know how to thank you. You're a lifesaver, a protector and a guardian angel and...and," he screamed.

"Get the fück out of here before I rearrange your face, Nate," I said pretending to be angry.

If I had a brother I imagined him exactly like Nate.

Nate left my office and I pulled out some old files of my dad's murder. I reread the files but everything appeared the same old. Gabe Emerson, an undercover police officer shot Stefan Robertson, a well known Mafia leader in an encounter.

There were pictures of Gabe Emerson receiving silver bravery award and his interviews about how he managed to befriend with my father then backstabbed him.

I closed the file in anger and disappointment when I couldn't find anything to help me.

Gabe Emerson wasn't an ordinary police officer, he was working for FBI. My father didn't find out until it was too late. He died because he shot him in the center of his brain. The great Mafia leader, Stefan Robertson died because he made a friend which was his only mistake. Gabe Emerson was his first and only friend who deceived him.

What I didn't understand was, how Gabe Emerson can be so stupid? Did he really assume that no one would come after him after he murder's one of the Mafia Leader? Did he think murder my dad would stop us from running our business?

I sat in the office for hours, thinking and recalling Gabe Emerson. He was the first man my dad asked me to call uncle, he developed a relationship between him and me. He considered him family and that bastard betrayed us.

When I realized it was time for lunch I called one of the men and told them to get my usual with some pasta from the restaurant. Then I told them to take that lunch to Bella's room with the instructions to stay five feet away from her door.

She didn't take the lunch until I told my man to lie to her that Nate had sent it for her. As much as I hate to confess, Nate had won her trust and developed a friendly relationship with her. It didn't bother me but it gave me a weird feeling inside my chest—almost like jealousy.

I was looking at the files while eating the lunch in my study when suddenly my eyes landed on Gabe Emerson's file. Leaving the lunch, I picked the file and started reading it.

He was driving back home when his car collided, some truck hit his car from behind and the driver was caught later. His death was ruled out as an accident. However, everyone knew it wasn't an accident. My father's well-wisher murdered him because he stole some of the evidence against other Mafia leaders as well as my father. If he had managed to hand those evidence successfully to the FBI, the Mafia world would've lost quite a number of members.

I only regretted one thing and that was the death of an innocent child. Gabe Emerson's grandson was in the car with him that day and he died with him.

As soon as I remembered it, something clicked in my mind. I snatched the keys from the table and went to the basement. I unlocked the door and entered.

I switched on the lights to find Gabriel sitting on the ground with rage in his eyes. He didn't even bat an eye. I kneeled down and assessed his face, it looked beaten and swollen.

"I finally figured out who you are. You can't hide the truth anymore," I said.

His body went rigid at my comment. But he didn't show the reaction that I was hoping for.

"I don't know what you are talking about," he mumbled.

I couldn't help the smirk that appeared on my face.

"I'm thinking about killing one of the sons of Frank Emerson. It wouldn't bother you, would it?" I asked.

He didn't even flinch but his clenched fists were enough to give his anger out.

"It wouldn't bother me because I don't know them. Do you understand it? I'm Gabriel Russell, not Emerson!"

I punched him and his mouth began bleeding.

"You need to stop lying to me," I yelled.

"I am telling the truth. I don't know anything about Gabe Emerson!" he yelled.

I grabbed his hair in my fist and pulled them back with force. He hissed in pain but didn't fight back,m. He knew the consequences of fighting would be bad.

"You stayed at their house. You have a connection with them so start speaking!"

He stayed silent, testing my patience.

"If you want to be stubborn then I have another plan. I am going to kill that girl. What was her name? Yeah, Bella. She is Such a mouthy girl and wouldn't be any use for us," I said.

He didn't show any emotion increasing my anger.

"I'll make you speak, don't worry."

I left the basement and went back to the study. I fetch my torture tools and went back to the basement.

I tied his hands with chains m, he was too weak to fight back.

The teaser was my first tool to make him speak. I turned it on and he clenched his fists.

"I'm giving you the last chance to speak," I said.

He didn't speak, he was as tough as Gabe Emerson when it comes to lying.

I placed a teaser on his shoulder and he yelled in pain. However, his mouth remained clamped shut.

"Another chance, start speaking and tell me everything that you know," I hissed in his ear.

He shook his head and I placed the teaser longer than before on his stomach. His body shook and he fell flat on the ground.

"Speak!"

He kept breathing heavily. I could tell he was a hard nut to crack.

I punched him and he spat blood but didn't attempt to speak. I placed a teaser on his neck and he passed out.

I called Will and asked him to get the bucket of water. Will brought the bucket and threw it on Gabriel. Gabriel opened his eyes and sat up, leaning his head on the wall.

"Do you want to tell the truth now?"

He remained quiet.

"Then I want to introduce you with some other favorite tools of mine," I said.

"Will, I want you to extract his foot nail."

Will smiled evilly and walked to Gabriel with the pliers then extracted his nail from great toe.

Gabriel yelled in pain as his toe started to bleed but didn't speak. He cursed loudly before passing out again.

An hour later, I tortured him again while asking the same question again and again. I knew he wanted me to kill him so I would lose power over him.

Nate entered my study looking angry.

"What the fuçk man? You didn't send her dinner," he said.

But when he saw my face, he knew something wasn't right.

"What happened?" Nate asked.

"Gabriel Emerson is probably a grandson of Gabe Emerson. He is the one who was with him in the car when he got hit!"

"What?" Nate said in shock. "But he died with his grandfather, didn't he?"

"I think he didn't die and it was a scheme to hide that chip."

"You don't know for sure," Nate argued.

"I have tortured him hours to get answers but nothing is breaking him. He thinks I will kill him and get over it, but he is wrong!" I yelled.

I knew what I needed to do to break him.

I started to make my way upstairs to the guest room. Nate was following behind me hastily.

"Tristan, man. What are you going to do?" He kept asking me.

I knew he wanted to stop me but I was on the mission. I wanted to take revenge that I'd been craving for my all life.

Most importantly I wanted that fučking evidence.
