deejays and demos!
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
Adelaide was stood behind the counter, talking to a customer at the register, while Ally was chatting with a senior citizen who was currently looking to buy an electric guitar. Ally looked unsure by this as she held the instrument in front of him. "Are you sure you want this guitar, sir?" She asked the man. "It's just that we don't sell many of these to people your age." Offended by her comment, the man stood up straight while pushing his glasses back up, which Ally noticed and quickly added on to correct herself. "'Cause you have to be at least twenty one, and clearly you're not. Can I see your I.D please?"
The man grabbed the electric guitar and mounted it on one knee before playing an Eddie Van Halen style guitar riff. Completely awestruck by what he had just done, Adelaide rushed out from behind the counter to walk over to the man and Ally who wore the same facial expression. "Whoa, will you be our Grandpa?" Adelaide asked, and he smiled and shook his head politely before he passed the instrument back to Ally for her to put back on the guitar rack.
Now leaving the customer to himself, the Dawson twins turned around and stopped when they saw Trish coming in, wearing another uniform as she announced. "Guess who got a job at the Greeting Card Store?" She walked over to the girls, passing Ally the card she was holding. "Here, give this to me."
"Okay." Ally let out in a perplexed manner before giving Trish back her card so she could read what was on the front aloud. "Congratulations on your new job." She smiled brightly and turned to face the girls. "Aw, thanks. You shouldn't have." And she pulled them both into a hug.
"It was nothing." The twins replied before pulling away from the hug, and Ally walked over to stand behind the counter while Adelaide jumped to sit on it.
Just then, Austin and Dez came running in where they stopped behind Trish, almost bursting with excitement. "You're not gonna believe this." The blonde-haired boy started off first, before pulling his best friend in front of him. "Dez, give 'em the news."
"Um, sure." Dez merely shrugged before going on to tell them the actual news. "The mayor gave a speech today, there's a ten percent chance of rain, and in sports, the dolphins..."
The twins and Trish stared at him confused while Austin shook his head, interrupting him. "No, not that news." He quickly pushed in front of the boy and smiled at the girls. "I'm doing my first radio interview." Adelaide, Ally and Trish all gasped at the news as Austin continued. "Miami Mack from F.M 109 is broadcasting live from the beach!"
"Ay, congrats blondie." Adelaide beamed proudly at Austin, with her dangled legs over the counter kicking slightly.
"Yeah, that's great Austin. Ooh," Trish perked up and reached down to grab a card and handed it to him. "here."
Austin received the card before he started to read out loud, what was on the front. "Congratulations on your first radio interview" He opened the card and furrowed his brows as he finished. "live from the beach?" He was surprised by the accuracy in the card and chuckled. "I didn't know they made cards for that."
"They make cards for everything." Trish told him, before Ally smiled as she walked out from behind the counter and went over to stand in front of her sister and Austin, while facing the latter. "Austin, this is huge. Miami Mack is the most popular DJ in Florida."
The Moon boy chuckled. "I'm surprised you know who he is." He replied, and even Adelaide noddedย her head slightly. "I thought you only listened to dorky books on tape."
"Whaaaaat?" Ally nervously let out, and Adelaide raised a brow at her tell. Something her sister did normally when she was lying. "All the cool kids listen to Miami Mack in the morning."
"Uhhh sis," Adelaide cleared her throat to get her sister's attention and Ally turned around slightly to look at her. "he's on in the afternoon."
"Uhhh," Ally turned back to face Austin, glancing between him and her twin while she continued to play along with her lie. "morning is what the cool kids call the afternoon." She gave the two a 'duh' look before walking over to the corner where the benches were, with Adelaide following her before they sat down to organise some CD's.
"Ugh. This whole interview thing must be so hard for you, Ally." Dez said pitifully as he sat down on the bench in front of the girls, holding a CD in his hand.
Ally continued doing what she was doing, looking up at Dez with a confused chuckle. "What do you mean?" She asked the redhead.
Without moving her eyes off the CD's on the table in front of her, Adelaide tilted her head while she listened to him carry on. "I mean, you not getting asked to be on the radio with Austin." As soon as he said that, the Dawson twins looked up โ with one of them widening their eyes, as the other just stared at him like he was talking about a sensitive subject. "Everybody gets to hear how talented he is, but it's like you're invisible."
"Well," Ally feigned a smile while she grabbed the CD that was in his hand. "I wouldn't put it like thatโ"
The Wade boy was quick to interrupt her without even realising it as he retrieved the CD. "But not invisible in a cool way like a superhero. More like an uncool way like..." He made a gesture towards her when he found the end of his sentence. "like a songwriter who doesn't get asked to be on the radio."
"Okay Dez, we get it." Adelaide snapped, sending the redhead a look to stop him from going further with his words.
"Yeah, Dez." Trish sounded like she was agreeing with him as she approached the three while Ally snatched the CD back. "Ally's an invisible, uncool nobody." Dez smiled and nodded along with her before it faltered at her next words. "Now stop it before you hurt her feelings!"
"Ally's not invisible." The Moon boy jumped in to disagree with Dez, making Adelaide feel thankful for him. "She just doesn't like the spotlight."
Ally nodded in agreement. "Yeah, because I have stage fright." She scoffed, going to walk past the boy before she turned around, interrupting what Austin was saying. "Although, it would be nice to get some recognition." She admitted. "I mean, in a perfect world, I could get up on stage and sing and dance as cool as Addy and Austin." She then showed them her goofy dance routine again.
"Yeahhh, maybe one day." Adelaide smiled at her sister, speaking on a more positive note.
"In a perfect world," Austin shook his head with a smile. "you'd never do that again."
โโโงโโโโโโโงโโ
Accompanied by her sister, Ally was sitting down by the piano, playing the instrument meanwhile, Adelaide sat on the chair behind the door, with a book in her hand as she listened to her sister sing the new song she was working on. "I'm the sun in your eyes. Yeah, you don't see me." Adelaide was nodding her head slightly to the music while Ally continued. "I wear no disguise, but you don't see me. I'm a total surprise and you don't see me. I'm so agonised that you don't see me..." The girl carried on playing the piano as she began to near the end of the song. "You don't see me."
At the sound of applause, Adelaide and Ally both widened their eyes in surprise. Adelaide leaned forward in her chair and put a hand to her heart as she sighed. "Jeez blondie, would you just stop doing that?" She asked.
Ally turned around in shock and jumped up from the bench before going over to him. "Austin, how long have you been standing there?" Ally looked nervous at that, since her sister was pretty much the only one that she would let be with her while she was singing.
Adelaide then stood up from her chair before she turned to look at Austin who shrugged. "Not that long." He answered before Ally responded with a follow-up question. "You didn't see me do my vocal warm-ups, did you?"
"No," Austin chuckled awkwardly, waving her off with his hand. "I didn't see anything." His answer caused Ally to let out a breath of relief and turned around, and once she had looked away, the Moon boy instantly started to mimic some of her vocal warm-ups, making Adelaide laugh while Ally sent him an amused smile. He pulled his fingers away from his cheeks and chuckled. "I just came by to get a copy of 'A Billion Hits' to play for Miami Mack."
"There's some on the table." Ally gestured over in that direction as Adelaide walked over to pick her song book up from the top of the piano.
As Austin began to search through some CD's, he stopped what he was doing for a moment to look up at Ally. "Hey, that song sounded great." Austin started off with a compliment. "But, the lyrics are a little girly."
Adelaide furrowed her eyebrows at the blonde as she stopped beside Ally who smiled awkwardly at him. "Well, that's great because the lyrics are for me," She started off, before her sister opened her mouth and finished off her sentence in a sing-song manner. "and she's a girlie."
"I write songs for myself sometimes." Ally carried on, explaining to Austin. "But I'm never going to perform them, so I just record them for fun." Her sister frowned slightly and casually placed a hand on Ally's shoulder and squeezed it softly. She had hope that Ally would overcome her fear of stage fright one day.
Her words made Austin remember what went on downstairs in the store earlier, more specifically, what Dez said. "You don't care about all that stuff Dez said, do you? About being invisible and not getting recognition?" He wondered.
"Does this look like somebody who cares?" At her rhetorical question, she tried to strike a pose in a way to act natural, causing Adelaide to shake her head. "Oh, honey no." She said through a sigh before heading towards the door.
"Good," Austin smiled, seeming happy with Ally's answer, even though Adelaide saw right through her. "'cause I could never do what I do without you. You're awesome."
"That's what I keep saying!" Adelaide called after poking her head back in the doorway, and smiled at them before disappearing from their view and passed by Dez on the stairs who was on his way up to the practice room.
"Thanks, Austin."
"Awww." Dez smiled from the doorway, and Ally and Austin looked over at him.
Austin chuckled. "Dez, are you spying on us?" He asked as he and Ally went over to him.
"What?" Dez looked confused. "No, I said 'awww' because I saw the cutest kid destroy the nicest violin down there." The Wade boy turned around so he was looking down at the ground floor of the store. "Awww."
Ally widened her eyes after hearing what Dez had just told her. "What?!" She exclaimed, frantically running out of the practice room as the sound of her sister's yelps came closer as she rushed down the stairs to help.
โโโงโโโโโโโงโโ
As it reached the time for Austin's interview with Miami Mack, everyone was at the beach standing around the radio station. "Welcome to F.M 109! I'm Miami Mack and we're live from sunny south beach with Austin Moon." The radio DJ had first introduced, making the crowd erupt in applause and cheers before he continued. "All right, now, it is time for our number one fan challenge!" After the crowd cheered once again, Miami Mack then announced the reward. "The winner gets to hang out with Austin Moon for a day. Who wants to play?"
Pretty much everyone had raised their hand, well apart from Team Austin, meaning the twins and Trish, as Dez, for someone who hung out with the blonde-haired boy everyday, seemed to be overly excited on wanting to do the challenge. The Wade boy jumped around frantically, exclaiming. "Ooh! Pick me! Pick me! Pick me! Pick me! Pick me!"
"You in the clown shorts!" Miami Mack called on Dez, which surprised the girls. They watched him hoot triumphantly while he approached the radio DJ who explained. "Okay, I'm going to flip a coin for your fan challenge. Heads, you get a nice easy scavenger hunt. Tails, you have to wrestle with a hungry alligator."
Trish and Adelaide both crossed their fingers and squinted. "Please be alligator, please be alligator, please be alligator!" They were both joking, well Adelaide was as far as Ally knew, but the girl still sent them both a look for their actions.
Mack flipped the coin and hovered his hand over it so nobody else but him could see it. He winced at the reveal before looking up at Dez who looked away in panic. "Heads, scavenger hunt!" The man announced, and the fans applauded as he picked up the sheet of paper from the table. "Okay, you are going on a musical scavenger hunt. You have five minutes to bring back every item on this list."
Dez grabbed the list out of his hand and pointed at him. "I'm on it!" He looked determined to win the challenge as he pushed past the people in the crowd, bolting away from them. "Out of the way! I'm on a scavenger hunt! Out of the way!"
Miami Mack turned back to the crowd. "Now, the moment we have all been waiting for... Austin Moon's new single!" He cheered, making them all applaud while Mack sat down just as Austin was putting his CD in the CD player.
But, it was not a copy of 'A Billion Hits'. From the last conversation he had with the twins, before he came here, he picked up a copy of Ally's song on a CD and brought it with him to put that in the CD player instead of his song.
"I'm the girl in the corner of the room." The song 'You Don't See Me' started playing, as all the girls smiled at each other. "The one you never noticed. Getting lost among the stars in the sky. Like a picture out of focus..."
"Uhh, Austin,..." Miami Mack trailed off, with his brows pinched together in confusion, listening to the voice on the song which sounded a lot female like. "that doesn't sound like you."
The singer looked over at him and feigned a look of shock. "You're right. That's not me. I must've brought the wrong CD."
"Oh, my gosh! I'm on the radio, I'm on the radio, I'm on the radio." Her cheers of excitement were quick to become quiet as a feared expression had crossed over her face. "I'm on the radio." And as she normally did when she got nervous, Ally then started chewing a lock of her hair, whimpering as she slowly ducked down out of view, and her twin wrapped her arms around her.
As the song finished, the fans applauded. "I don't know who that was, but man!" Miami Mack wore a smile as he praised. "That song was great!"
"That was my partner Ally Dawson." The blonde-haired boy shared with him. "The most talented singer-songwriter I know."
"Well, I'd really like to give her some props."
"Great idea." Austin agreed.
"Live and in person!" Miami Mack added, before Austin's face dropped at the news. "Bad idea." He corrected himself.
"How about you and Ally come back and perform together live this Friday?"
"Live? I don't think that's such a good idea..." The Moon boy was about to decline his offer, however Mack had interrupted him when he turned to his audience. "Alright, if you want to hear Austin and Ally perform live, scream yay-ah!"
"Yay-ah!" The crowd cheered, including Adelaide and Trish before Ally gave them both a look and they instantly changed their replies and shouted out. "No-ah!"
"Great." Mack beamed. "Then tune in this Friday, to hear Austin Moon and Ally perform live!" And the audience clapped their hands and cheered.
Having finally returned to the beach, Dez pushed his way through the crowd while dragging along a cowboy for a strange reason. "'Scuse me. Coming through. Coming through! Okay, I got everything on the list." He stopped beside the girls and read off from the list what he had got. "An accordion, a tambourine, and a cowboy."
"Oh, that list said cowbell." Miami Mack told him through a wince, earning the Wade boy to sigh in disappointment before he looked back at the list to see where he went wrong. "Aw, man. I must've read it wrong. I really wanted to hang out with Austin. Well," The redhead shrugged and turned to the man next to him. "at least I still have you, cowboy." Though, he got no reaction from him as he simply walked away. "Aw come on, Clint!"
"Well, what am I going to do, girls?" Ally began to panic after facing Adelaide and Trish. "I always freak out when I have to perform."
Trish thought for a second before her eyes had lit up at her idea. "What if I can get Miami Mack to let you wrestle the alligator?" She suggested, and the twins furrowed their eyebrows at her.
"How does that help?" Ally asked.
"It doesn't." Trish shrugged. "But I really want to see somebody wrestle an alligator."
Adelaide shook her head at her best friend before turning to her sister and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Don't worry. I'm sure we'll figure something out soon. Well, hopefully."
โโโงโโโโโโโงโโ
The three girls were walking through the mall, all holding ice cream cones as Ally continued voicing her panicked thoughts on having to perform live on Friday. "I don't know what to do, girls. I can't back out of performing on Miami Mack's radio show."
Adelaide and Trish turned around and stopped in front of her, before the latter scoffed lightly while shrugging. "What's the worst that could happen?"
Adelaide glanced at her friend with a raised brow as if she was saying 'did you really just ask that?' before looking back at Ally who was quick with her answer. "I could have a meltdown and totally embarrass myself."
"Well, I said worse thing." Trish said with a tilt of her head, before starting to list off more possible outcomes if Ally performed on Friday. "You could throw up on the DJ. You could ruin your career. You could ruin Austin's career. You could sprain your ankle running off stage. Ohโ" Adelaide was quick to stop Trish from saying anything further by putting her hand over her mouth.
"Not helping, Trish." Adelaide reminded her best friend who raised her brows slightly in realisation before looking over to Ally who looked even more nervous now after that. "Thanks, Trish. I feel so much better." She commented sarcastically.
Austin then came running over. "Ally!" He called with an apologetic expression aimed towards the girl. "I'm so sorry you'll have to perform." He said regretfully.
Ally shook her head, obviously assuming it wasn't the plan as she said to the blonde. "Please, it's not your fault. You brought the wrong CD. It was an accident."
The blonde scoffed lightly while trying to hide the nervous expression on his face. "Yeah... it was an accident. I didn't purposely bring the wrong CD so you'd get recognition." He squeaked nervously which made Adelaide look at him suspiciously as he carried on. "Why would I do that?"
Ally however, looked at him strangely, having not noticed him being nervous. "I'm not accusing you of doing that."
After watching the blonde who looked like he was almost about to crack, Adelaide let out through a scolding tone. "Austin..." She stepped past Ally to stand next to the boy before she pulled on his ear and he let out a groan. "What did you do?"
"Aahโ Okay, I did it." Austin sighed as he finally confessed to being the one who started the whole thing.
"What?!" Ally looked at him in shock as Adelaide let go of Austin's ear, and he pouted at her like a child before looking between her and Trish while asking for help. "Um, girls, help me out."
"Nope." Adelaide quickly shook her head. "You're on your own here, buddy." She declined his need for help, pursing her lips as she patted him on the shoulder before moving to stand back next to her best friend, with Austin following her and looked expectantly towards Trish.
"What?" Trish gave him an 'are you serious?' look before going to ask. "You think they make an 'I'm sorry for playing your song on the radio, I didn't know it would backfire' card?" She let out a scoff before she remembered. "Actually, they do." She pulled out the exact card and gave it to Austin for him to turn around and hold it up to Ally, with an innocent smile. "Hmm?"
Ally let out a scoff before grabbing the card out of Austin's hand. "I can't believe it, t-that you would do that..." Her look of disbelief then moved away from Austin and towards the card. "and that they would make a card for it."
"Tell me about it..."
"I know, right?" Trish giggled before sitting down on the circle bench and continued licking her ice cream cone, making Austin turn away from Trish and face Ally while letting out a sigh. "I just want people to know how talented you are."
While she was grateful for the gesture, Ally didn't know how she would be able to perform her song live on Miami Mack's radio show with her stage fright. "I appreciate what you're trying to do, but now what? I can't perform with my stage fright."
"Don't worry." The blonde singer smiled at her as he mentioned. "I just found a cure for stage fright on the internet." He turned her around and stood behind her as Adelaide watched him carefully to see what his plan was to somehow fix her sister's stage fright. "Close your eyes and imagine you're in a peaceful meadow." Ally sighed before closing her eyes as Austin continued. "The sun is shining, the birds are singing. Everything is calm." Austin paused for a brief moment and rubbed his hands together before grabbing her shoulders and made her jump. "Boo!"
Ally flinched in surprise and let out a scream that made her ice cream cone slip out of her hand and drop onto the floor. Adelaide stared at her sister's ice cream with a pout, until she looked away and turned to the blonde. "Austin!" She called before whacking him on the arm. "That's the cure for hiccups."
"Oh, you're right." The Moon boy sighed, looking down in disappointment. "I'm sorry." He quickly apologised before a smile suddenly grazed across his lips as he looked up at Ally, directing his next words to the girl. "But you don't have the hiccups now, do ya?" Only to receive a scowl from the girl in response.
โโโงโโโโโโโงโโ
Once they were back at the store, the girls were in the corner, sat on the benches while looking up at Austin who stood in front of them. Ally threw her arms out to the sides, being the one to speak first as she asked. "Okay, so what's your big plan?"
With a beaming grin, the blonde-haired boy tried to show his excitement as he informed. "I know a guy who can get you over your stage fright so you can perform on Friday." The girls looked towards him in question. "A man with incredible powers. The amazing Dez-mo!"
Making his entrance, Dez emerged from a curtain behind Austin who had just moved to sit down on the bench next to Ally. "It is I, Dez-mo. Master of Mystery."
Trish raised her hand in the air with a grin on her face as she pointed out. "I solved the mystery. It's a dork in a stupid hat."
As the girls laughed at her comment, the redhead looked at Trish with narrowed eyes. "I'll have you know, I'm a skilled hypnotist. I've had extensive training in the mystical arts." He countered.
Austin jumped out of his seat to stand next to his friend while elaborating for the girls. "He spent a week in a hypnotism camp in the mall parking lot."
Dez looked at the blonde confused. "I thought we were in Hawaii."
"You were hypnotised to think that." Austin told his friend before turning to Ally and nodded his head. "It's a really good camp."
However, the girls didn't think so when Adelaide shook her head, looking unsure about the idea of Dez hypnotising Ally was going to succeed. "This isn't gonna work." She sighed. "I mean... are you sure you're gonna be able to do it."
"Trust me, I know what I'm doing." Dez defended while trying to reassure her. "Hypnotism is really simple. I'll just put you in a trance and give you a trigger word to control your behaviour. I already tested it out on Austin." He explained.
The three girls and Austin looked confused at the last part before the latter turned to him. "No, you didn't."
"Kittycat." Dez said his trigger word, causing the Moon boy to start meowing like a cat and lick the back of his hand like it was his paw. The redhead moved over to sit down beside Ally before saying his trigger word again, and Austin snapped out of it before turning to the group. "So did you guys finish hypnotising Ally?"
The girls laughed impressively, surprised that the hypnotism actually worked. With a smile on her face, Ally turned to look at the boy sat next to her and nodded. "Okay, Dez. I'll give it a shot."
Dez moved his position so he was facing the girl more and placed a spinning disc in front of Ally's face before taking a breath. "Stare into the swirly lines. Focus on the swirly lines." The boy started hypnotising Ally as the disc continued to spin in front of their faces. "You are getting sleepy. Very sleepy. You can hardly stay awake." Although, when you would expect Ally to start following his instructions, instead, Dez began to sway, showing himself getting tired. "You're falling into a deep... deep... sleep." He finally dropped his head onto Ally's left shoulder, falling asleep.
Adelaide tilted her head, pursing her lips. "Well... the Amazing Dez-mo, everybody." She applauded sarcastically as Ally stood up to her feet, causing Dez to fall onto the bench, still asleep.
Ally stood in between the two benches, sighing to herself before looking over at Austin who started to speak. "I really wanted this to work. I want the world to know who Ally Dawson is." He sighed as Adelaide got up from the bench and walked over to get something from behind the counter.
"Well, what's the big deal?" Ally asked, shrugging at him. "Nobody knows me now." She smiled and walked past the blonde to get to the counter.
"Yeah, nobody knows you." Austin looked as if he just got an idea, before stepping towards the girl, looking too excited for her liking. "Nobody knows you."
Ally chuckled nervously. "Okay, I get it. You don't have to rub it in." She mentioned, not seeing that he had a plan in mind as she moved past him to stand next to Trish, making Austin turn and face them to explain. "No, people don't know who you are, so no one knows what you look like. We can have Addy pretend to be you during the radio interview."
"I'm sorry, what?"
"What about the singing?"
"Again, when did I come into this?"
Ignoring Adelaide again, Austin explained to Ally about his plan. "You'll hide off-stage while Addy lip-synchs."
"I don't know. It seems like a lot to pull off. What if something goes wrong? And do you really think Addy will be able to lip-sync everything I..." Ally was quickly interrupted as her sister called. "Hey there... my dear twin sister. Have you forgotten that us saying things at the same time happen on a daily basis?" She looked at her with an innocent smile.
At her sister's words, Ally quickly agreed. "Okay, this'll work."
"You guys go get ready. I'll wake Dez." Trish told the three of them, and they turned around to go upstairs.
โโโงโโโโโโโงโโ
Friday had now arrived and Team Austin were at the beach, with Adelaide and Austin with Miami Mack at the table. Adelaide's leg was bouncing as they waited for Mack to start his radio show. She was biting her lip in worry. The girl never really did well under pressure, and Austin noticed that when Adelaide felt his hand touch her thigh.
The Dawson girl turned her head to meet with his softened expression as he mouthed 'You okay?' to her. As Adelaide's leg stopped bouncing, she sent him a small smile before hesitantly nodding, as if to say 'don't worry about it'.
As the radio interview finally began, Miami Mack announced. "Welcome back to FM 109." He then turned to the two singers sat next to him. "We're here live with Austin Moon and his partner, Ally Dawson. Now tell me, Ally, how long have you been writing music?"
"Ever since I was in kindergarten. You know, I always had a love for music. I really don't think there's a better way to express what you're feeling when you look inside your heart andโ"
What was she doing, waiting for Ally to finish her answer? She's her twin sister. She should already know how to answer questions about Ally.
"Ever since Kindergarten." Adelaide cut her sister off in a rush. "Next question."
Miami Mack furrowed his eyebrows. "Wow, Ally's a girl who gets straight to the point." He quipped sarcastically.
"I wish." Adelaide murmured before looking back at Miami Mack as he went to speak once again to ask the girl another question. "Can you describe to me in detail, exactly what goes through your mind when you're writing a song?"
Adelaide froze, seeing as she wasn't receiving any feedback from her sister through the microphone at that moment. Noticing her pause, Miami Mack covered his microphone with his hand and leant closer to Adelaide. "Are you gonna answer, or...?"
"Ehh, well..." The girl trailed off while also trying to remember if her sister told her something one time that was relevant to this question.
"Addy!" Austin called without thinking, receiving a pointed look from the girl and he widened his eyes and nervously corrected himself. "...is Ally's twin sister. Just thought you should know." Once Miami Mack turned to talk with a member of his crew, Austin leaned close before whispering to Adelaide. "What are you doing?"
"I can't hear Ally anymore." Adelaide told Austin in worry. "If I can't hear Ally, how am I supposed to answer the questions?"
"She's your twin sister." The Moon boy reminded the girl. "You know everything about her."
"Maybe." Adelaide whispered, before sending the blonde a sharp look while panicking. "But, as you could see before, I don't do well under pressure, blondie!"
"Okay, let's just start from the beginning." Miami Mack turned back to the singers after the person he was talking to, walked away. "Ally, when did you start playing music?"
"Umm, when I was five." Thankfully, the Dawson girl managed to answer truthfully, continuing to pose as Ally as the questions went on.
"Okay, enough questions." Mack interjected, and Adelaide let out a quiet breath of relief, now that the interview part was done. "I just want to hear you two perform."
Adelaide looked at Austin with a nervous smile at her lips, before noticing Ally poke her head out of the tent and gave her a thumbs up, indicating she was ready. Relieved on her good timing, Adelaide turned to Austin to share the news. "Ally's ready to sing!"
"Great!" Mack had heard what she said, ignoring the fact that the girl was talking about herself in the third person. "Because we're waiting for you to sing."
"Let's just do the song." Austin said, and grabbed his guitar before putting it on his lap as he began strumming his instrument when the song started and Adelaide prepared to lip-sync while holding the microphone in her hand.
"I'm the girl in the corner of the room. The one you never noticed. Getting lost among the stars in the sky, like a picture out of focus. I'm the sun in your eyes, yeah you don't see me. I wear no disguise, but you don't see me. I'm a total surprise and you don't see meโ"
Feedback from Ally's side whined, making Austin and Adelaide furrow their eyebrows at the music stopping, before the channel suddenly changed to an Opera program and the duo attempted to lip-sync to that while Ally continued to find the right channel, only for it to change again. This time, to a female traffic reporter, making Adelaide widen her eyes before quickly lip-syncing to it.
"A huge pile up on I-95 has caused two lanes to close. Expect slow traffic all the way from North Miami to Key Biscayne. Also Exit 3D through 7E are closed temporarily, until the Department of Fowl Collection can safely return all 493 chickens..."
The channel changed once again as Ally stumbled upon a Spanish music station while a salsa song was playing, making Adelaide lip-sync along to it the best she could. As Ally returned to the Opera station, Adelaide and Austin resumed lip-syncing to the song until it was nearing the end when the tent came crashing to the ground and Dez came out before running away, as Ally and Trish were chasing after him.
As the song finally finished, the crowd was silent for a moment before Austin played a few notes on his guitar. "Thank you, Miami!" He exclaimed to the crowd before he and Adelaide quickly took off and followed their friends.
โโโงโโโโโโโงโโ
The next day in Sonic Boom, Adelaide was on her way downstairs while her sister stood behind the counter, talking to Austin about the recent events that had occurred the day before. "Uh, I know the interview didn't go so well, but thanks for trying to share the spotlight with me." She made sure to tell him. While it didn't go according to plan, she still appreciated the gesture.
"Listen," Austin kindly smiled. "it doesn't matter if the world doesn't know how talented you are. I always will."
"Thanks, Austin." Ally smiled at his words before hugging him over the counter. "Awwww." They pulled away hearing Dez's voice, and Ally turned around to see Dez watching them, with Adelaide standing beside him, not noticing her looking at the redhead strangely as she smiled, assuming he was responding to what Austin said. "I know, he's a nice guy."
"What?" The Wade boy asked in confusion. "No, I was just checking my tonsils." He used a lollipop stick as a swab to put on his tongue while holding up a mirror in his other hand to check his tonsils through there. "Awww."
Trish entered the store with a smile while holding a magazine. "Guess who's on the cover of Miami Music." She announced, before turning it around to show a picture of Austin and Addy from when she was posing as her sister. "Austin and Ally!"
"I can't believe it."
"I know." Adelaide agreed with her twin. "Me and blondie are on the cover of a magazine."
"Wow," Dez let out, as he took the magazine from Trish and looked through it. "they must've really liked your interview."
"I think 'Ally'" Trish started to say as she pointed at Adelaide. "did a pretty good job, if I may say so myself."
Ally walked out from behind the counter to stand by Trish. "Yeah, Ally," The girl pointed to herself as she disagreed. "doesn't think so."
"Yeah... I'm gonna have to agree with her on that one." Adelaide pointed out as she propped herself up onto the counter to sit on it.
"Well, 'Ally's'," Dez pointed to himself. "just glad this all worked out." As he said that, he then took notice of the looks he was getting from his friends before he shook his head and added. "I'm sorry, I'm not sure how this game works. 'Ally'll' be over there." And he walked away.
"Ah, there you are." Miami Mack walked into the store, relieved when he spotted the duo that was just on his show. He turned his gaze to Adelaide who he still assumed was Ally before directing his next words to her. "I just wanted to say that the way you merged genres and changed your voice on my show was amazing! Ally Dawson, you are a true talent."
"Thanks." The twins replied, earning Adelaide to widen her eyes slightly as her sister, once she had realised what happened, pursed her lips through her awkward expression.
