CHAPTER FOUR
โโโโ season one, episode four
zaliens and cloud watchers!
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
Adelaide watched from behind the counter in the store as Austin and Dez grilled burgers on a xylophone, thankfully stopping when Ally came over, smiling in excitement. "Guys! I finally finished the new song."
Noticing what they were doing, Ally asked. "What are you doing?" Adelaide joined her sister's side before mentioning. "Yeah, I'm curious too."
"Xylo-grilling." Dez informed before Austin, who stood beside him, chimed in to elaborate. "It's a way to combine my awesome music skills with Dez's mad cooking skills."
The Wade boy then managed to accidentally flip one of the burgers onto the window whilst trying to demonstrate his said mad cooking skills.
Taking it off the window with one of the utensils, Dez first turned to Ally in question. "Window burger?" He offered to the girl who grimaced through a smile.
"No thanks. I'm trying this new diet where I don't eat anything totally disgusting." She responded sarcastically, leaving Dez to turn to Adelaide with the same offer. Pretending to look as serious as possible, Adelaide then shrugged. "Yeah sure, I'll take one."
"Really?" Dez questioned, with the sarcasm going unnoticed which received an exasperated look from the girl. "No." She deadpanned.
Walking into the store, unsurprisingly wearing a different uniform, Trish announced. "Guess who got a job at Cheese Out Of My League?" But what did surprise the group, was her uniform which replicated the look of a giant cheese block.
"Ooh, the high-end cheese store. That place is so much better than 'cheese just okay'." Ally said before turning to Austin who approached. "So, I just finished the song for our new webcast. It perfectly captures everything you're about." She put the headphones on Austin before pressing play. "Listen."
From behind Ally, Adelaide winced knowing how wrong her sister was after she had listened to it herself. It's not that they were bad lyrics, but she believed they suited her more than they did with Austin.
"What do you think?" Ally wondered, waiting for Austin to answer as he pressed pause on the song in order to tell her. "I love it!"
"Yay!" Ally cheered before rushing away from the group, leaving Austin to pull off his headphones before turning to his friends after making sure Ally wasn't listening. "I hate it." He admitted.
"Here." Dez placed a drum filled with chili on to the counter. "Try it with my drum chili." The boy suggested, pouring some of it onto Austin's burger in assumption he was talking about that.
"Not the burger, Ally's song." The blonde-haired boy corrected. "I don't like it." He glanced to the brunette beside him apologetically. "I'm sorry. I know she's your sister and everything butโ"
"It's okay. I get it." Adelaide sighed, waving him off. "You've got to be honest with her though. She would rather you tell her than lie to her about it, even if it could hurt her feelings."
Austin sighed, knowing she was right. "I know."

Excluding Ally, the group sat around at a table at where Trish works in the mall. Adelaide watched the boys play a game with cheese while she drank down her Pepsi.
"Got any cheddar?" Austin asked Dez who looked smug while answering. "Go fish."
This responded in Austin to pick up a cheese slice from the deck. "Got any provolone?" The redhead asked the blonde who sighed before picking out a cheese slice from his hands before passing him one to him to take a bite out of. "This is Monterey Jack!" He chucked the slice onto the floor with a huff. "Cheater."
"Sorry, I'm distracted." The Moon boy sighed and dropped his pile of cheese slices on the table. "I can't stop thinking about Ally's song. The lyrics are so not me."
"Well, if you don't feel like playing, I'm gonna eat the deck." Dez told him before starting to take a bite out of the cheese.
Adelaide furrowed her brows at the redhead next to her before turning to Austin as she swallowed the liquid that was in her mouth. "I mean, check out these lyrics." Austin said before starting to read aloud from the paper he was holding. "I'm a sensitive guy, sad movies and sunsets make me cry."
"I hate sad movies and what kind of guy cries at sunsets?" Austin rhetorically asked.
Pursing her lips with a sigh, Adelaide gestured to Dez with her thumb. "I can think of one." The girl reminded Austin just as the redhead proved her right. "Bye-bye, Mr. Sun." Dez choked out while waving at the sun before looking back at Adelaide and Austin. "He won't be back until tomorrow."
The two watched as Dez cried before Trish came up to the table. "Man, I hate this job. My entire uniform is made out of real cheese, including my underwear!" The De La Rosa girl complained.
"I wear cheese underwear all the time! I love it. I really feel like I can breathe in it, especially the swiss." Dez explained.
"Why would you do that?" Trish questioned.
Responding quickly, Dez then said. "Because the goat cheese is too squishy!"
"Guys!" Austin shouted, thankfully stopping their conversation from going any further. "What am I going to do? I don't like Ally's song, but if I tell her, it'll hurt her feelings."
"There's only one thing you can do." Dez pointed out, making Trish nod in agreement. "I never thought I'd say this, but Dez is right. Be honest with her." She reminded the blonde at the same time Dez suggested. "Get a pickle basket."
This made Adelaide whack him on the shoulder, causing him to groan. "Ow! What? She loves pickles!" He defended his point, which he wasn't wrong about, but was still the incorrect way to go in her opinion. "She also loves honesty." She reminded.
"Well, I don't have an honesty basket. I only have a pickle basket." Dez said, before putting one on the table in front of them.
"Ooh!" Adelaide looked intrigued. "Do you have a strawberry one?" She wondered, looking at the redhead with a hopeful expression, only to pout when the boy shook his head no.
Sighing, Austin then told the group. "I guess I'll take Addy's advice and tell her the truth. There's nothing to be afraid of." He turned around before screaming to see Ally standing in front of him.
Smiling in excitement, Ally then asked. "Are you screaming because you're as excited about the webcast as I am?"
"Yeah." Austin smiled awkwardly. "You know me so well."
"Oh! This is the best song I've ever written." Ally expressed her excitement. "It's perfect for you."
"Yeah, about thatโ I need to tell you something. Iโ" Austin stammered nervously before turning to the group. "Guys, a little help."
"Can't talk, got cheese in my mouth."
"Me neither. Got to stay hydrated."
"And I'm not here."
"Uh, anyway," Ally chuckled after finally pulling her eyes away from the three who stuffed their mouths with food, their drink or hide in their costume. "before I forget, I invited some friends over to watch you tape the webcast. I wanna see their faces when you sing our most awesome song ever. So, what we're you going to tell me?"
"Uh... that I got you a pickle basket." Austin said, handing her the basket that Dez got, making her smile. "Oh, thank you. I like pickles." She gushed before taking a bite out of one.
โโโงโโโโโโโงโโ
After finally admitting the truth to Ally about his feelings to the new song after embarrassing her on live tv that led from his suspicious stalling behaviour, Austin came up with the idea of them hanging out more to get to know each other better to improve their partnership.
With Adelaide walking in the mall with Dez, they found Austin and Ally who had just finished with the cloud watching club. "I'm taking you to a horror movie fest." Austin declared.
"I'm supposed to go with you to that." The Wade boy interrupted their conversation as he looked at his best friend betrayed. At the current topic of conversation, Ally groaned. "I hate horror movies. They're so boring."
Giving her a look, Adelaide told her sister. "More boring than staring at big, white, fluffy things all afternoon?" She rhetorically asked, earning a smile from the blonde boy.
Though Dez scoffed out a laugh. "Yeah, that's the boringest thing I've ever heard." He agreed with Adelaide's point before looking up at the clouds with a smile. "Hey, check it out! A bunny on a bicycle."
Looking at Dez in disbelief, Austin whined. "It's not a bunny on a bicycle." He huffed before walking away from the group, leaving Ally with a smug smile on her face. "It's a bunny on a bicycle."
"Oh yeah."
"Oh yeah."
"Oh no." Adelaide interjected, patting her sister on the shoulder before walking away.
Following on with the horror movie fest, Austin, Adelaide and Ally walked out of the theater after watching Swamp Bride all dressed like the characters in the movie.
"How did you not like Swamp Bride?" The Moon boy scoffed, turning around to look at Ally since Adelaide had a different opinion, or it was because she didn't really care. "There was a wedding. Girls love weddings."
Answering for her sister, Adelaide sarcastically nodded. "Oh yeah, because we all love weddings where the bridesmaids get eaten."
Smiling, Austin then explained. "They ran out of appetizers." The boy only received a look from the twins before Ally was first to walk away with a groan. "This stuff is just silly. I-I mean, chewy eyeballs and chocolate intestines?" She gestured to the food table.
"Don't forget red veins." Austin mentioned before pulling out a red vein-like-candy out of one of the fake hands and took a bite out of it. "Oh yeah."
Seeing Walter approach them, the trio politely greeted him, only to receive a grumble from him in response. "Oh, don't 'Hey, Hi, How you doin'? me. You littered in my theater."
Confused, Austin told him. "We didn't litter."
"Oh yeah?" Walter raised a brow. "Look what I found underneath your seat. Recognise this?" He questioned, opening up his glove-covered hand to reveal a singular piece of popcorn.
With her brows still furrowed, Ally stated. "Uh, yeah. It's popcorn."
"Aha!" Walter cackled. "How would you know that if you didn't litter?"
"Because we've seen popcorn before?" The twins responded, their words coming out more like a question.
"I'm watching you." Walter warned Austin before turning to the twins. "And you girls too." He said before walking away just as Dez started to walk up to them in his Zalien costume, while he attempted to sneak up on Ally, though failed as the girl turned around with no reaction at his scream. "Uh, hi Dez. What are you supposed to be? An alien zombie?"
"No, a zombie alien." Dez corrected. "I'm a zalien, a character from my favourite thirteen movies of all time. Zaliens, Zaliens 2, Zaliens 3, Zaliens 4, Zaliens 5, Zaliens 7โ"
Cutting off his explanation, Ally pointed out. "Ah, Ah Ah, you forgot Zaliens 6." Though, Dez didn't really care as he scoffed. "Ugh, that movie stinks. I wish I could forget it."
"Hey guys." Nelson greeted the trio after Dez left them, dressed like a boxer. "I'm ready for the fight fest." He started punching the friends who pretended be hurt, before Ally stopped him by placing her hands on his shoulders. "Uh, Whoa, Nelson, it's a fright fest, not a fight fest."
"Aw, nartz." Nelson frowned. "I practiced my right hook all week."
"Well, keep practicing." Austin reminded Nelson as he walked away in disappointment, making Adelaide shake her head.
"Guess who's ready to get her Zalien on?" Trish announced as she and Dez approached the three, their matching costumes making the Dawson twins scream.
"Seriously?" Dez scoffed in annoyance, directing his next words towards Ally. "We're wearing the same costume but you're scared of her."
"We're scared because you guys have something in common." Ally gave her reason, making Trish and Dez turn to each other at that before letting out a scream.
"Best Zalien movie ever?"
"Uh, duh, Zaliens 3: Brain Eaters From Beyond. Best scene in that movie?"
"Uh, duh, when the zaliens take the shape of teachers and eat the football team's brains."
"Oh, okay, okay! No biggie." Trish turned back to face the twins and Austin, trying to hide that she was panicking. "So we have a few things in common. That doesn't make us friends. It could just be a coincidence."
"Favourite number between one and a billion?"
"Two!" They answered at the same time, making them scream. "Zalien brain suck!" Trish yelled before the two mimicked what she said.
While watching, Ally noted. "Okay, this is the scariest thing I've seen all day." Adelaide nodded afterwards in agreement to her point.
"I think it's kinda cool that they have something in common." Austin felt differently. "I wish we were more like them." He said, more referring to his friendship with Ally. "Brains suck!" He yelled before placing his hands on their heads and copied his friends' actions.
Moving his hands off their heads, Ally spoke for the both of them. "Don't suck our brains." At the look on his face, she sighed. "Okay, so we don't like the same stuff, but at least we're getting to know each other. And now it's Ally's turn. So fasten your seat belt, because you're about to take a ride on the fun train." She mimicked a train whistle.
"Good luck." Adelaide chuckled, throwing a look towards Austin before going off somewhere with Trish and Dez.
โโโงโโโโโโโงโโ
"I'm sorry." Amused, Trish apologised for Dez's actions on scaring the person in front of them, not being able to hide in their laughs. "Our friend here is really childish. I promise he won't do that again."
Adelaide shared a look with Dez and Trish before this time the girls decided to scare whoever was in front of them, making them laugh at their own actions.
At the sound of honking from beside them, they turned to see Austin and Ally at the seats next to Adelaide. "Oh, hello."
Directing her words to Ally, Trish asked. "What's in your dress?"
"Pickles the goose." Ally answered in worry. "We need to find him a new home because they're tearing out the pond."
There goes the honking again, and assuming the noise was coming from them, Nelson shushed them.
"Why won't be quiet down?" Adelaide wondered.
Shrugging, Ally then considered this option. "I don't know. Maybe he's hungry."
Glancing down at the floor, Austin looked at Ally to inform. "There's popcorn on the floor. Let him eat that." He suggested.
"Okay. Okay, Pickles. Come on." Ally said, gently dropping the goose to the floor, only then did she realise Dez had disappeared from his seat. "Hey, where did Dez go?"
"Hey guys," Dez popped his head up from behind their seats. "did you know there's free popcorn down here?" The four sat in their seats all share a flabbergasted look as Dez ducked down to continue crawling between the seats. "We've got a little problem." He stated in panic.
"You've got a little problem." The twins however didn't sense his worry. "You're eating popcorn off the floor." They reminded.
"No. Pickles crawled under the seats." The Wade boy informed, making Ally panic as she turned to her friends and sister. "Oh! We've got to get him back."
"Ow!" Nelson yelled, jumping off his seat with a groan. "Something just bit me." Austin and Ally attempted to shush him, though failed. "Ow! It bit me again! There's a zalien in here!"
Adelaide smiled nervously. "Well on the bright side, we know it's still in here." She pointed out, getting a look from her sister who then turned to Nelson in attempt to reassure him. "It'sโ It's not a zalien. It's a goose."
"A zombie goose." Dez chimed in spookily before Adelaide whacked him on the head using her hand like a fly swatter. "You are not helping."
As the goose continued to honk and run around the theater scaring everyone that they bounced off their seats until Nelson called. "Run for your lives!"
"Don't even think about it." Austin told Adelaide as he grabbed the girl's arm to stop her from following everyone out the theater, making her pout at him.
"That's it, goose." Walter squared up to the goose while trying to pull himself up to his feet after getting trampled on by everyone running out of the theater which was now cleared out apart from himself and the group who was left standing to watch. "Nobody wrecks my theater."
Though the goose in response, flew straight in his face and started to attack him โ earning some from the group to laugh.
"This is awesome!"
"Awesome?" Ally questioned the blonde. "Pickles just caused a panic in the theater and is attacking Walter. How can you be laughing?"
Austin continued to laugh. "Because, Pickles just caused a panic in the theater and is attacking Walter." He reminded. "It's funny! You gotta look at things my way sometimes and stop being so serious."
Standing behind her sister, Ally looked back at Walter who was still getting attacked by the goose. "You're right. This is kinda funny." She said, finally looking amused as she started to laugh along with her friends.
"Hey, Walter! Shhh! There's no screaming in the theater."
โโโงโโโโโโโงโโ
"I forgot how fun colouring was." Ally chuckled as she stood behind the counter with her sister and Austin, all three of them drawing in their colouring books.
Austin smiled. "Duh."
"Guess who got a job at T-shirt World?" The De La Rosa girl announced as she walked into the store with Dez by her side. She opened her jacket to reveal the t-shirt she was wearing that had Dez's face printed on it.
"Guess who gets a best friend discount?" Dez said before copying Trish's actions to reveal his t-shirt that had her face printed on it.
Smiling at her friends, Ally pointed out. "I'm so happy you guys like hanging out together." From beside her, Adelaide chuckled to herself sensing the sarcasm. "And by 'happy', she means totally weirded out." She clarified. "And that goes the same for me."
"Why? We have the same favourite horror movie, the same favourite number and the same favourite pizza toppings." Trish explained before turning around to state. "Pepperoni."
At the same time as her, Dez stated his favourite pizza topping. "Mushrooms." Responding to this, they both shared looks of disgust before they repeated what the other one had said through a scoff.
Trish scoffed in disgust. "I cannot be friends with someone who likes mushrooms."
In the same tone, Dez then responded. "Well, I cannot be friends with someone who likes pepperoni."
Furrowing her brows, Ally stopped the two from bickering for a moment. "You guys are gonna end your friendship over something as silly as a pizza topping?" She asked, making Adelaide nod in agreement.
"It's not just a pizza topping." Dez scoffed. "First, she likes pepperoni, then she doesn't want to get it delivered because she thinks we don't get out enough. But sometimes I'm tired and I just wanna watch TV!" He shouted at Trish before going to storm off.
As she watched him walk past, Adelaide let out a chuckle before mentioning. "You know, it's no wonder me and him are friends."
Following him out the back door, Trish called out after him. "Why are you so tired all the time? I'm the one who works at least two jobs a day!" She yelled.
"Well, everything's back to normal." The blonde-haired boy stated, hopping off the counter to approach the twins. "Let's see what you've got."
"You two are gonna be so proud of me." Ally said, smiling up at her sister and Austin. "I coloured outside the lines."
"Where'd you colour outside the lines?" Austin questioned as him and Adelaide looked at the book in confusion.
"Uh, right there." Ally answered as she pointed to a particular part of the page as to where she assumed she coloured outside the lines but they still saw nothing.
Adelaide smirked before grabbing the crayon that Ally was holding and moved her hand to scribble all over the page. The sound of Ally's protests only made the girl laugh more as Austin started to laugh along with her.
"Who's outside the lines now?" Adelaide taunted as she continued to mess up the page. "You broke my crayon!" Her sister whined as Austin smiled at their interaction.
Ally may not have learnt how to colour outside the lines yet, but at least their new song was a success on their latest webcast.
