CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX, filler chapter

It had been a few days after everything that had happened. Emilia had to accept the new change in her life with the fact that she has all of Adam, Bree and Chase's abilities combined, along with a couple new ones. However, she was also happy to find out that she didn't need a capsule as she could easily deactivate her bionics herself whenever she needed to. But apart from that, Emilia hadn't been getting much sleep, since she kept thinking about how her own father killed her mother because she was (and in his words) useless.

Apart from Tasha watching tv on the couch, the auburn haired girl was sat alone eating her breakfast, when Chase came walking in to get something from the refrigerator. Emilia followed him with her eyes, hesitating whether or not she should say something or not when she then spoke up. "Thank you."

Chase shut the refrigerator after getting a drink and turned to Emilia with surprised eyes. The girl had barely spoken for the past few days and he was surprised to hear her voice again. He then furrowed his brows after realising what she said before asking. "What for?" He walked around to sit on the stool beside Emilia who looked at him with a softened face. "I never thanked you for getting me out of there." She clarified, however, Chase still looked confused.

She let out a light chuckle. "I know it was you who carried me out of there. Plus, I kind of hoped it would be." She admitted, making the boy smile softly. He shrugged his shoulders as if it was nothing before replying. "It's nothing, don't worry about it."

"Well, it was something to me." Emilia said truthfully as Chase sipped his juice, trying to hide his now pink cheeks. Her lips tugged up into a smirk knowing her comment took affect on him.

Tasha looked towards the kitchen area when a soft smile appeared on her face as she watched Emilia laugh for the first time after the battle with Nick, Douglas, and Marcus and Chase was the first one to make her crack. She pulled out her phone and quickly took a photo of the two before sending it to the others.

Emilia laughed as she continued to tell Chase the story. "Yeah. Leo came walking in wearing massive goggles, flippers, and a duck floatie. And I just fell to the floor, crying of laughter. I even have a photo."

Chase laughed along with her. "Oh, god. Please show me." The girl giggled before stopping as her eyes glowed blue. She sighed as Chase looked at her in concern seeing the glowing eyes. "Prepare yourself." She told him, making him furrow his brows as he went to question. "What-"

Before he could finish, Emilia grabbed his hand before speeding down to the lab, letting go of Chase before she tackled Adam to the ground.

"Wonderful." Leo huffed. "Now I have to deal with two speedsters." He grumbled, earning a look from his friend before she sighed at the sight of Bree. "Adam, for the last time. Stop setting your sister's hair on fire." She groaned, before turning to Bree. "Meet me in my room and I'll help you fix it." She said before speeding back upstairs, after getting a nod from Bree.

Chase looked around seeing them all smirking at him, making him furrow his brows. "Why are you all looking at me like that? It's creepy."

Donald chuckled. "You didn't think we would see the photo that Tasha sent us, did you?" He told him.

"What picture?" Chase wondered, in which Leo pulled out his phone and showed him the photo of him and Emilia laughing.

"God. Just get together already." Bree groaned before speeding upstairs to Emilia's room so she could fix her hair so it looked normal again.

Down in the lab, Emilia was training with Chase. The girl laughed ducking under Chase's arm and grabbed it before flipping him over onto the ground. Emilia smiled in satisfaction, biting her lip as Chase looked up at her.

"You seem to be getting the hang of this." Chase chuckled as Emilia helped him off the floor. She hummed in response. "Well, banshees have more defence skills than you think. Especially now I have bionics as well."

"I never underestimated you." Chase said, smiling at the girl who nodded. "Good. Nobody should." She replied, making him chuckle before they continued on what they were doing.

Emilia went to swing at him when dodged it, and used his other hand to grab her and turn her around, making her back hit his chest.

With panting breaths, the Hunter banshee looked up as Chase whispered in her ear. "I guess I won that round then." She slowly locked eyes with him, still catching her breath.

"Yeah, I guess so." She breathed out, her eyes quickly lingering down on his lips before looking back up into his eyes. They stayed there for a moment before they both cleared their throats, stepping away from each other.

Emilia gestured to the elevator. "We should really get back upstairs." She excused, getting a nod from the boy.

"Yeah, you're- right." Chase stammered while clearing his throat. "Lia, wait." He called, making her stop in her tracks before turning around to face him as he began to walk towards her. "You're wrong this time." He spoke confidently, making her furrow her brows before being pulled into his grasp as he pressed his hand on her cheek and pulled her into him and collided their lips together.

Slowly they pulled away with small smiles on their faces. "Wow." Was all that Emilia could say after that kiss.

Chase chuckled in reply. "I've been kinda wanting to do that for a while now." He smiled nervously.

"If we're talking truths, I've been wanting to, as well." Emilia agreed, biting her lip trying to hide her smile.

"Look, Lia..." He cleared his throat. "It seems like now is the perfect moment to ask this but..." The girl smiled softly before widening her eyes when she heard him ask. "Emilia Hunter, will you be my girlfriend?"

"Yes, I will, Chase Davenport." Emilia said with a smile before grabbing the hem of his shirt and pulling him in for a kiss.

They pulled away hearing the sound of a camera clicking and giggling, knowing full well they have been caught by Bree. "They finally did it! I am amazing!" They heard Bree shout, making them both laugh.
