CHAPTER NINETEEN, adam up

Donald and Tasha were away, so Emilia was put in charge since she was the protector and all, or it was because she seemed to be the most responsible out of all of them, including making sure the guys still trained along with herself.
Emilia and Leo were currently watching the three bionic siblings train in a simulator. Once the computer beeped, it indicated for the guys to pull their goggles off as they finished. "Great job, guys. You just took out an entire unit of virtual cyborgs." Leo complimented.
Eddy then appeared on the screen. "I think it's sad that you have to invent people to play with you." He said, making Emilia purse her lips.
"All right, Leo, I'm off the clock. Let's get out of here." Adam said, holding a towel around his neck.
Emilia cleared her throat as the three walked over to them. "I hate to be the bummer here, but Adam you still have to train."
Chase nodded along. "She's right. Just 'cause Mr Davenport's away doesn't mean we stop training." He reminded him, making both Adam and Leo groan. "How do you think I feel? I'm missing a four-hour documentary on the history of the Printing Press." Chase pointed out, making Bree stifle a laugh at the look on Emilia's face.
Emilia cleared her throat, raising a brow at Chase who then added on in correction. "And to spend some time with my amazing girlfriend." She gave him a smile in return before looking to Adam who groaned. "But Leo and I were gonna play human Bull's eye bounce. Don't worry, it's way more dangerous than it sounds."
"Human Bull's eye bounce. Is there any way you could get a good enough bounce to land in the emergency room?" Chase wondered before gesturing to the two girls behind him. "Cause that would save us a lot of time."
Bree sighed, nodding along. "Nope, he's right, Adam." She agreed. "As much as I enjoy watching you get hurt- and I really do- we have to train."
"Oh, come on." Leo groaned. "The adults are away! If we don't take advantage by doing something destructive, we're no better than... Chase." The boy rolled his eyes at Leo before sighing at them. "I'm sorry, but unless he can be in two places at once, he's training."
"Also, just because I have an instinct to stop you guys from getting hurt, doesn't mean you can go around doing something stupid and destructive to hurt yourselves on purpose. I can't be your 'mom' all the time." Emilia pointed out, before walking back into the lab.
"Come on, let's get the bo staffs." Chase chimed in, going to walk back into the lab when Adam groaned. "Oh, man, I never get to do what I want. It's not fair."
"Aww. Are all of your cool bionic abilities and top-secret missions getting you down?" Bree sarcastically asked, making Adam smile though he didn't notice the sarcasm. "Aw, thanks, Bree. I knew you'd understand."

The next day at school, Emilia, Bree and Chase were talking in the hallway when Perry then approached them. "Hey! Ginger, Hansel and Gretel." She greeted, making Emilia roll her eyes at the names. "My niece is visiting from... um... wherever she lives, and I'm gonna assign you three to be chaperones for a couple of days."
Emilia shook her head. "No, thank you." She answered bluntly, while the other two tried to come up with excuses. "Oh, that's so cute! You think you have a choice!" She cackled.
"But why would you want us to show her around? You can't stand us." Bree questioned.
Perry held her hands to her heart. "Oh. You've noticed. Look, my niece is sweet and innocent. If she hangs around the cool kids, they'll corrupt her. That's why she's hanging with you." Perry told them before continuing. "But if I got to be honest, Hunter is a lot cooler than you two."
"Huh. That's a compliment in my world." The auburn haired girl hummed. "If it's unclear, let me spell it out." Perry said, looking to Chase and Bree. "You're not cool."
"Hi, Aunt Terry!" A young girl appeared from behind them. Perry smiled at her niece. "Kerry, darling! This is... the- gimme a second... Kevvvinnn... Suzzzannn.." She struggled to say their names, making Emilia roll her eyes.
"Bree and Chase." She reminded. "And my name is Emilia." She introduced herself to Kerry.
The woman giggled to herself. "No one really cares."
"Nice to meet you! I'm Kerry Perry!" The young girl shook their hands with an 'innocent' smile as she continued. "Thanks for showing me around. I hope it's not too much of a bother."
"No, no. We are happy to be forced to help." Bree said to the girl.
Perry smiled. "Great. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm headed to the Chem lab to sear off a wart." The woman excused before walking away, leaving her niece to call after her. "Bye, Aunt Terry! Hee hee!"
Once the woman was gone, the smile fell off the girl's face and turned to the three teens. "Here's the deal, ladies. I'm skipping school and hitting the mall. And when I get there, I'm gonna plant a dead fly in my burrito and eat for free."
Emilia dug her tongue into her cheek, narrowing her eyes at the child who she had enough with already.
"I'm sorry, but as your chaperone-" The girl interrupted Chase as she yelled. "Shut it, squat-mug!"
"Little elves called- they want you back at the tree to make cookies." Kerry smirked. Bree laughed, moving to stand in front of the couple as Emilia looked like she was ready to say something. "You can't talk to us like that." Bree told the girl, who scoffed. "Just did, boy-hips! I'm outta here."
"You can't just go." Chase said, along with Bree who chimed in. "Yeah. What are we supposed to tell your aunt? Besides the fact that she should round up some bail money." Kerry slapped the books out of her hands. "Tell her I was with you three nimrods all day! And you better do my homework. Or else... you'll get this-" The girl started fake sobbing, indicating she was use it to get Perry on her side. "So, we good?"
"Nope." Emilia answered, going to follow after the girl in anger when Chase picked her up and lifted the girl over his shoulder, making her huff out a breath. "That girl is definitely a Perry."

"Now give me twenty bucks." Kerry demanded, looking towards Bree. Emilia had gone off somewhere so Bree and Chase was who she found first. "For what?" Bree asked, looking at the girl in disbelief.
"Milkshakes for me and my girls." Kerry replied before snapping. "Fork it over, princess!" She reached her hand into Bree's bag and grabbed a twenty dollar bill.
Chase laughed. "You just got a shakedown by a pre-teen!"
"I'm thirteen, Bum-sweat!" Kerry said bitterly, glaring at Chase. Bree hummed, looking towards Chase who questioned. "Were you raised by a gang of bikers?" Feeling a familiar small breeze around them, Bree looked behind Kerry and smirked before nudging Chase to follow her gaze.
Bree laughed. "Good luck getting milkshakes without no money." She smirked, making the teen furrow her brows. Bree nodded behind the girl, indicating for Kerry to turn around and they saw Emilia standing there with a smirk as she held up the twenty dollar bill that Kerry stole.
"What? How did you-?!" Kerry questioned, in which Emilia fake smiled in response. "Because you can't get anything passed me, little girl." Her aunt came walking in, making Bree sigh. "That's it. We are done with this."
The three walked over to the woman. "Principal Perry, we need to have a little discussion about your niece." Bree said, in which Perry nodded.
"We sure do. She loves you three!" The woman smiled, making the three teens scoff. "What?! That's impossible." Chase said and Perry agreed with him. "I know. I find you repulsive. Thanks for watching Terry. This morning I got to spend an extra hour at the dog track!"
"Okay, that's great. But we-" Bree tried to say, but Perry interrupted the girl. "So now I need you to watch her tonight. I'm playing flag football with the Sheriffs." She informed them.
"And how do you get to play flag football with the Sheriffs?" Chase asked with furrowed brows. The woman shrugged her shoulders. "Go to enough highway wrecks with free pizza and they let you in." She explained. "Anyway, if you watch Kerry, I might just forget about the detention days you've accrued."
"What detention days?" Bree asked.
"You mouthin' off? You just got detention!" Perry declared to Bree who widened her eyes. "What?! You can't do that!" She disagreed.
"Just did, Sally Sideburns." Perry said.
"That is it. We are done watch-" Bree went to say before Chase interrupted her. "Uh, can you just give us one second, please?" He asked Perry before bringing the two girls to one side. "Look, okay, the girl is a nightmare, but if we do this, we might just get on Principal Perry's good side." He pointed out, making Bree sigh.
"The woman has many sides, none of them are good." Bree reminded him.
Emilia hummed. "I gotta say, I agree with Bree on this one."
Chase only raised his brows at the two making them groan. "Fine, we'll do it."
They walked back over to Perry to see her trying to move the drinking station. "We've discussed it. And Kerry is more than welcome to come over tonight." Chase said, in which Perry smiled.
"There you go again- acting like you have a choice." Perry smiled in satisfaction, pinching Chase's cheek.

"Bye, Aunt Terry!" Kerry called out, waving her aunt away from the front door to the Davenport Mansion. "Love you!" She giggled, before walking back in to the house. "Oh. Her car is disgusting. I don't know where the Kitty Litter ends and the cookie crumbs begin." She groaned.
"All right, Kerry. You're on our turf now, so we're not gonna put up with you bossing us around."
Kerry scoffed at Bree. "I'm not staying with you losers. I'm going to the Skate Park to throw marbles in the half-pipe and then sell ice packs in the parking lot." She explained.
"That is pure evil." Chase said as Kerry looked at him. "You call it evil, I call it a Lucrative side business. Oh, my taxi's here. Don't wait up. Ha ha ha!" She walked out the front door.
"Aren't you gonna go after her?" Bree asked, looking at her brother who repeated. "Aren't you gonna go after her?"
Emilia hummed, walking towards the front door as she chimed in. "I'll go so I can teach her a lesson."
Before she could touch the door knob, Chase wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her up, moving her away from the door. "Damn it, you never let me do anything fun." She pouted, muttering under her breath.
Leo then ran in with panting breaths. "Um, we have a serious problem with Adam." He informed the three.
"You'll have to be more specific." Chase reminded the Dooley boy who nodded. "Yes. There are five of him." He said, holding up five fingers.
They furrowed their brows at his answer as Bree asked. "What are you talking about?"
"We made duplicates." Leo clarified before Chase furrowed his brows. "What?!" He let out before Adam walked in. "Hey, guys." He greeted, walking into the kitchen.
"Adam, what are you doing up here? You're supposed to be downstairs watching the other Adams." Leo reminded the boy who looked at him in confusion. "Hello? They're our guests. It would be rude not to offer them drinks. Two waters, One OJ, and one berry-infused decaf green tea, soy milk on the side." He explained, making him purse his lips at the last one. "One of me is very high maintenance."
They made their way downstairs to the lab to see multiple Adams. "More Adams?" Bree questioned. "We will never be able to air this place out."
Adam sighed, looking at his duplicates. "See, guys? There's nothing to worry about. They're all here."
Chase threw out his arm. "I thought you said there were four duplicates." He said to his brother. Adam nodded and went to count. "Yeah. One, two, three, four. Uh-oh."
"Just go track down the missing Adam." Emilia told him, before Chase chimed in. "Yes. I'll keep an eye on them and find a way to reverse the duplication process. Where's the duplicator?"
"Well, there's a shard of it underneath your shoe." Leo nervously pointed out, making Chase widen his eyes. "You broke the duplicator?!"
"Hey, that thing was squirting out an Adam every ten seconds! What did you want me to do?" Leo snapped at him.
"Just go find the missing Adam!" Chase said before the four of them rushed out the lab to do so.
There had turned out to be more Adams than expected leaving Chase to question them. "Guys, what is going on? There was only supposed to be one Adam left." The elevator doors opened, following with them hearing another Adam call out. "Hi, everyone!"
"Hey, those guys look just like us." They heard another Adam speak, making them all slowly look towards the direction of the sound and saw more than ten more duplicates of Adam, hanging around the kitchen.
"There's even more of him!" Emilia pointed out at the observation. "This is a nightmare!" She exclaimed, holding her hand to her head.
"I cannot handle this many Adams. The world cannot handle this many Adams." Bree joined in with Emilia while panicking. "This is Armageddon!"
"It doesn't make any sense." Leo thought, looking at them with furrowed brows. "If there's one thing I'm good at, it's breaking things, and I definitely broke that duplicator."
Eddy then appeared on the screen. "Oh, did I not mention that the duplicates can multiply on their own? They just had to learn how. And guess what? I taught them!" The doorbell rang, following with a door knock before they heard the familiar sound of Perry's voice. "Yoo-hoo! Anybody home?"
"Guys! That's Principal Perry!" Chase whispered as Bree nodded with a groan. "Great. So now there are eighteen Adams walking around, and no Kerry."
Shushing his sister, Chase then said. "Let's just pretend we're not here."
Though Perry ruined his plan as she called from outside the door. "I heard that. You don't think my parents tried that on me at Christmas? Kerry, are you okay? Open up!"
"Everything's fine! We just need a second." Chase told her from inside the house. "Listen up, little pigs! I've got a welding torch and a battering ram in my trunk. This could go easy, or this could go hard." Perry told them just as Chase started zapping the duplicate Adams away.
"That's only seventeen." Emilia pointed out. "So, there's one left. Where is he?" Chase asked, looking back at the others. Bree shrugged at his question. "I don't know."
"Look out belooooooow!" Perry yelled, appearing from the chimney. "Did you just shimmy down the chimney?" Leo questioned the woman who was covered in soot.
"It's okay. I'm a professional. Used to be a chimney sweep back in the nineties." Perry said, shrugging them off. "Learned the hard way not to wear a skirt. Now... where's my niece?"
"Uh, she's just getting her things together." Bree lied, ending with a chuckle. "She'll be out any minute." The last duplicate Adam walked up to them. "Hey, guys." He greeted, making the guys do a double take seeing two of him. "What's going on? Why are there two of you?" Perry questioned, all seeing it.
"You must have got some soot on your glasses!"
Leo clapped his hands, stepping forward as he went to chime in. "Oh, yeah! Yes, you did. Let's get those cleaned right off." He pulled her glasses off her face, guiding her towards the fridge, giving Chase the chance to zap the last duplicate.
Chase turned to the two Adams. "All right. Which one of you is the real Adam?" He questioned, in which they both answered. "I am."
Bree shrugged her shoulders. "What are you waiting for? Just zap 'em both." She suggested, in which Chase explained. "I can't. If I zap the real Adam, the jolt of electricity will fry his bionic infrastructure."
Bree scoffed. "Well, you gotta zap one of 'em."
"May the best Adam win."
"Good luck, bro."
"Hurry up before Perry sees!" Emilia rushed him, in which the woman herself called out. "Your tartar sauce is expired! Can I have it?"
"I think you're good." Leo whispered to them.
"All right. Whichever of you is the real Adam, show me what you got." Chase said, passing the device to Bree.
The Adam on the left side, stepped forward. "You asked for it." He said before grabbing the back of Chase's shirt and threw him out the room, making Emilia run after Chase, leaving Bree to zap the last fake Adam.
"Uh, remember, next time I come over, I like my salami spicy." Perry gave them a reminder, just as Emilia walked back into the room with Chase.
"Now, where is Kerry?" She asked, putting on her glasses. Nervous stammers came from their mouths, not really sure what to say, when luckily, Kerry walked through the front door. "Kerry!"
"Aunt Terry! You're here!" She said with an 'innocent' smile. "I was just taking a stroll on their lovely grounds, and... I must have gotten lost." Perry smiled, believing her lie. "So, you're okay?" She asked.
"Okay. These three have been wonderful to me. I'm just sad I'm not gonna get to hang out with them anymore." Kerry lied. "Well, then I have some good news. I'm enrolling you at Mission Creek, so then you'll get to spend every day with... Steee... and Duu..."
"Bree, Chase and Emilia." The auburn haired girl seethed, making Perry cackle. "Yeah, I still don't care." She replied.
