CHAPTER SIXTEEN, alien gladiators

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

Leo walked into the lab with a bright smile on his face as he announced. "Guys, Alien Gladiators are coming to Mission Creek."

"I knew this day would come." Adam gasped and started to back away. "Thankfully, I prepared for an alien invasion." He placed a tinfoil hat on his head. "Chase, you hold them off while the rest of us who deserve to live, escape."

He grabbed the girls and started to pull them out the room. "No, no. Not real aliens." Leo stopped them from leaving. "My favourite Sci-fi movie franchise. They host annual fan conventions and this year, it's in Mission Creek."

"I love Alien Gladiators." Chase expressed with a smile as he walked over. "In the future, rival alien worlds the Morfs and the Zarkanians will battle over control of the galaxy!" He recited with Leo as Emilia mocked from beside him.

"What?" Emilia shrugged after noticing the looks she was receiving. "If your boyfriend drags you downstairs at midnight to watch the movie more than once, you seem to know stuff." This got a chuckle from Bree as Chase sent his girlfriend a playful glare.

"Oh. I remember that movie." Adam said. "It was terrible. The whole thing was blurry."

"You didn't wear your 3D glasses." Emilia lightly chuckled.

"Well, I didn't want to look stupid." Adam said as if it was obvious.

Chase stepped over to stand next to Emilia. "I bet the entire cast will be there. I have everybody's autograph, except for the new guy playing Prince Landor in the sequel— Andre Ethier."

"Whoa, whoa, wait." The last part of what Chase said had caught Bree's attention. "As in baseball superstar, Andre Ethier?"

Chase furrowed his brows. "Since when do you care about baseball?"

"I love baseball." Bree scoffed at him. "You know, with the bases and... the ball." She sighed. "Okay, whatever. Andre Ethier's cute, and if he's there, I'm there."

"The convention is going to be awesome. They're bringing back the fire staff challenge." Leo told them, making Adam furrow his brows.

"What's a fire staff?" He asked.

"This..." Leo walked over to pick up the fire staff from the corner. "is a fire staff." The boy swung it around before hitting it on the ground, causing it to turn green.

"Looks like a stick with lights." Adam described.

"It's a fire staff!" Leo snapped, his tone changing as he explained. "Competitors battle each other with their own fire staffs, and the winner gets a walk-on role in the next movie. And that winner is going to be me." He swung the fire staff out, the end of the stick accidentally hitting him in the face.

Emilia widened her eyes, trying to hold in a laugh which Leo noticed. "Don't you dare!" He pointed a finger at her, amusing her more. But thankfully, Donald had walked in, taking her attention away from Leo's clumsiness.

Donald was dressed in a robe, holding a fire staff also as he greeted. "Greetings, good Morfs." He hit the fire staff onto the floor, causing it to turn blue.

"What are you doing?" Leo approached his step-father.

Donald smiled as he answered. "Getting ready for the Alien Gladiators convention. I am Elder Lumina. And Elder Lumina will be victorious in the fire staff challenge."

"Look, Elder-ly Lumina." Leo started off, getting a glare off Donald. He swung his fire staff around before hitting it on the floor. "I hate to get your robe in a bunch, but that role is mine."

Donald scoffed out a laugh. "That's cute. But I've loved these movies my entire life, and winning that role will fill my biggest childhood dream, so..."

Leo smiled smugly at the man. "I think childhood dreams expire once you hit forty." He dissed.

"Oh, all right," Donald nodded at him. "out of the way, micro Morf." He backed away and swung his fire staff around, making the others back away so they wouldn't get hit.

Emilia looked actually impressed by his fire staff skills before Donald stopped, looking at his step-son. "Still think I'm too old to compete?"

Leo smirked at the man. "I don't know what was more amazing, your moves or the fact that your dentures didn't fall out." He dissed once again, and Donald narrow his eyes before chasing him out of the lab.

Back in school, Emilia sat in between Chase's feet on the bench. Chase was braiding her hair as they watched Leo continue practicing for the fire staff challenge at the convention.

Once he stopped swinging the staff, Leo turned to the couple and Bree with a smile. "Pretty cool, huh? It's shiny 'cause I showered with it."

"Okay." Bree feigned a chuckle and stepped over to him. "You really think you're gonna beat Mr. Davenport?"

"Please." Leo rolled his eyes as if she was talking nonsense. "Once he starts sweating, he'll go blind from his hair dye."

Adam walked down the stairs, finally making his appearance as he announced. "Okay, all caught up on Alien Gladiators. Great movies, but they're missing one thing. Space Dog."

Emilia playfully gasped, gripping Chase's hands that had dangled down next to her as he looked at his brother in question. "Space Dog?"

"Yeah." Adam beamed, already loving the idea of Space Dog. "He'd be the perfect companion, plus in space, after he does his business, it just floats away."

Caitlin barged her way through and stood next to Bree and Adam with an innocent smile. "Hey, guys. Sorry, I'm late."

Emilia furrowed her brows. "We weren't waiting for you." She reminded the blonde who whipped her head around to give her a sharp look.

"Back off, Emilia. It's been a bad day."

"Yeah, mine changed as soon as you arrived." The Hunter girl muttered under her breath, making Chase smile, being the only one that heard her.

Caitlin looked over at Leo, smiling when she saw the fire staff in his hand. "Cool fire staff. Are you guys going to the convention, too?"

"Yep. We're even dressing in character. I'm going as Gigabit. Half human, half robot." Emilia stood up to let Chase do a robot dance and once he was finished, she sat back down.

"And I'm going as Prince Landor. Handsome yet brave... and handsome." Leo smirked and backed away as he swung his fire staff around.

"Well," Bree piped up as Caitlin turned around to look at her. "I will be going as the beautiful Queen Andromeda."

"Really? You?" Caitlin grimaced at Bree. "Well, it is a fantasy world."

As the blonde walked away, Emilia went to stand up and go after her. "She did not just—" The girl seethed before Chase placed his hands on her shoulders and pushed her back down in front of him.

"Calm down bub." He whispered softly, making Emilia huff out a breath.

"We really need new friends." Bree pointed out.

Leo continued to swing his fire staff when he saw the door behind him open. He threw the fire staff forward to scare the upcoming person, revealing Perry who pushed the staff away from her. "Aah! Watch the glow stick, Cirque Du So-Lame."

Leo shrugged. "Sorry, Principal Perry. Just gettin' my morf on. There's an Alien Gladiators competition tomorrow—"

"Blah, blah, blah," Perry interrupted him. "I hate all that Morf stuff."

"But Alien Gladiators rule." The Dooley boy held out his fire staff.

"No." Perry grabbed the fire staff off Leo. "I rule, and that's why I'm confiscating this stick. No weapons allowed on school grounds."

Leo pulled on his fire staff, telling Perry. "But I need this for the fire staff competition."

Perry quickly pulled it away. "And I need it to unclog my toilet."

Walking into the convention, the girls and Chase was first before Adam followed, while imitating a dog to match his Space Dog costume. He held a clipboard in his hands and looked around at the other people waiting. "Please sign my petition to get Space Dog in the next Alien Gladiators. He'll make a solid addition to the team. Bark..." He winked. "my words."

"Will you leave people alone?" Chase was dressed in his Gigabit costume as he told Adam. "Nobody cares about Space Dog, and you look ridiculous in that thing."

"Hey!" Emilia gasped at Chase. "I, for one, think that Space Dogs are superior." Remembering her outfit was similar to Adam's, Emilia asked. "Are you saying that I look ridiculous too, babe?"

A reason for her outfit? One, because she thought it was funny, and two, she had nothing else to wear.

Chase pulled off his Gigabit mask. "Of course not, bub." He instantly said. "You look beautiful no matter what you wear."

"Aw, I love you." Emilia beamed and pecked him on the lips.

"I love you too."

"Awww." The couple turned to look at Bree. "You two are so cute." She huffed. "But, your flirting is doing nothing but remind me how single I am."

Emilia chuckled. "Sorry, Bree."

"Ooh," Chase looked over his sister's shoulder as he noticed. "there's the line for the autograph signing." He told the others before they walked towards it. "I brought my action figure carrying case for Prince Landor to sign."

"You mean, Andre Ethier." Bree corrected.

"No, I mean Prince Landor." Chase furrowed his brows at Bree. "Who'd want a baseball player's autograph?"

"You know what Prince Landor needs—"

Chase was quick to interrupt. "If you so much as mention Space Dog to Prince Landor. I will roll up the windows on the spaceship and park you next to the sun."

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

The closer they got to the front of the line, Chase grew more excited. "Just a few more minutes. Just a few more minutes." He gushed.

"You have been saying that for two hours." Bree reminded her brother. "How long until you stop talking?"

"Just a few more minutes." Chase shrugged.

Emilia smiled before looking behind her as Adam spoke. "Hey, I'm happy we've had all this time in line. It's given me a chance to collect signatures for my Space Dog petition. So far, I have Space Dog and Adam Davenport." He looked down at his clipboard, pursing his lips.

"Here." Emilia sighed and grabbed his clipboard and pen before writing her name down, making Adam look at her with a beaming grin. "That's another name added to your list."

"Thank you, Emmy." Adam grabbed the pen and clipboard from her before turning to Chase. "See, your girlfriend's on my side."

Emilia chuckled, turning to Chase and sent him a playful wink before sticking her tongue out like a child. Chase responded with a smile and shook his head in amusement.

She was doing it to make Adam happy, and that's what he loved about her. Her kindness towards other people, among other things.

"Hey, guys." They turned around at the sound of Caitlin's voice, the girl matching costumes with Bree. "Great costumes. Oh, look, we both dressed up as Queen Andromeda."

Bree looked at the blonde confused. "I told you I was dressing up as Queen Andromeda."

"Don't worry, I'm not mad." Caitlin waved her off before asking. "Hey, can I jump in line with you?"

"No." Emilia responded bluntly, unlike the others who seemed to be struggling to come up with an answer.

"I-I don't know, Caitlin." Bree said. "I mean, it's really not fair—"

However, Caitlin quickly interrupted. "The Morfs pride themselves on being loyal to fellow Morfs, Bree."

"Okay, fine." Chase sighed. "Come on in."

"Thanks." Caitlin grinned.

Emilia turned to Chase. "You know, you're going to regret that, right?" She rhetorically asked, and was proven right when Caitlin barged past all of them to get in front. "See?"

A member of security had approached the line to announce to everyone. "Folks, turnout's higher than expected, so we're cutting off the line. Please don't riot like you did last year. I just got feeling back in my scalp." Pointing to where Caitlin was stood and the people in front of her, the security guard continued. "Everyone from this point forward gets a wristband granting them access to the Andre Ethier autograph signing. Woo-hoo."

He passed one to Caitlin who was counted as the last person to be allowed a wristband before he carried on forward.

"What about everyone else?" Chase looked at the security guard in disbelief.

"You get a frustrating story to share in the cafeteria."

"Caitlin!" Bree exclaimed.

The blonde looked back at them, pretending as if they were strangers. "I'm sorry. Do I know you?"

"Oh, you bitch." Emilia grumbled.

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

Still in line, the group stood behind the barrier as Caitlin turned to them. "I can't believe I'm gonna meet Prince Landor. We're gonna be best friends!" She gushed in excitement.

Emilia pursed her lips. "Yeah, I feel sorry for him already."

"Caitlin, we were in line first." Bree reminded the blonde. Like it was going to do anything? "We only let you in as a courtesy."

"Which is why I deserve that wristband." Chase chimed in. "What happened to Morf loyalty?"

"Get a grip, dude. It's just a movie." She mentally rolled her eyes.

"Give me that wristband!" Chase yelled, dropping his mask to the floor before cutting through the barrier as he tried to pull the wristband off of the blonde.

Adam, Bree and Emilia quickly followed, passing the barrier in attempt to pull Chase away from Caitlin before they got in trouble. However, they couldn't take him away from the situation before a security guard came, pushing the five of them out of the room and into a little cell.

"You're not gettin' out of here till Mr Ethier has left the building. So sit tight, nerds." The security guard snapped his fingers before walking away.

"Greetings, Good Morfs." A boy approached them before holding his arms out. "I am Mindmeldor spiritual guide," He turned to smile flirtatiously at Bree. "and the most eligible bachelor in the galaxy. Nope? Nothing?"

Emilia snickered and moved over to stand next to Bree as the boy turned to Adam and Chase. "Uh, the Zarkanians have captured us."

"Not now, nerd." Chase sighed at the kid before going over to Caitlin. "Look what you've done. Because of you, I'm gonna miss out on meeting Prince Landor."

"Well, so am I!" Caitlin exclaimed. "And now I'm stuck in here with you, Giga-Butt."

"Giga-butt. Really?" Chase scoffed as they started to bicker.

"Silence, Morfs." The young boy interfered. "Halt this bickering, else I will melt thee brains." He threatened, throwing his arms out to try and melt Chase's brain.

"Okay, it's melt thy brains." Chase corrected the boy. "Learn your Morfian lexicology." He let out a laugh and looked at the others. "This guy... what a loser." He then took a seat beside Caitlin, only to struggle slightly due to his robot costume.

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

Adam sighed. "Great. Now I'm stuck in here with a bunch of weirdos."

"Says Bree and Emilia every Saturday night." The Davenport girl shared a smile with Emilia.

"Guys, look." Chase pointed over to something on the guard's desk.

Adam gasped as him and the girls, minus Caitlin, ran over to see what Chase was looking at. "The guard left his sandwich." Adam appeared to have noticed something different. "Chase or Emmy, you're gonna have to use your molecular kinesis to get it for me."

"Or... I could use it to get the keys." Chase told his brother.

Adam looked at him as if he was crazy. "After the sandwich."

As Chase went to do it, the girls pulled him away with his sister reminding him. "Um, hello, you cannot do that. If Mindmeldor realises that the four bionic-humans are in front of him, we'll become the convention."

"She's right, Chase." Emilia agreed.

"I've got a better idea." Chase took a deep breath before robot walking towards the boy sat on the bench. "Mindmeldor, make haste."

"Is there danger, Gigabit?" The boy stood up and struck a super-hero pose.

"Yes. Our Zarkanian overlord left his keys on the desk." Chase informed.

"Who needs keys when Mindmeldor can explode steel bars with his mind?" The kid shot out his hands, pretending to shoot fire everywhere.

"Quite impressive." Chase pushed his arms down, stopping him. "But perhaps you could use your mind-shifting abilities to retrieve the keys."

"You serious, dude?" The boy furrowed his brows at Chase who looked at his sister, clearing his throat to indicate he needed help.

"Oh..." She said, fixing her crown. "I am the Morf Queen. Impress me with your mental prowess, and I'll... be into you and stuff." Bree sighed at the last part.

"Yeah, you will." The kid smiled before correcting himself. "I mean, your wish is my command, your highness."

The boy walked towards the cell before he turned back as Adam spoke. "Yeah, also, see if you can nab that sandwich."

Emilia sighed and whacked him softly on the arm before telling him. "Forget about the sandwich, I'll buy you one tomorrow." This made Adam grin before they moved behind the kid.

Chase then used his molecular kinesis as the boy reached his hands forward, and gasped in shock when he saw the keys had been lifted off the desk alone and flew towards him before landing in his hand.

"Yes!" Chase grabbed the keys off the boy before sticking them in the keyhole.

"I did it! I am Mindmeldor!" Once Chase opened the cell door, the young boy ran out, screaming loudly. "Mom!"

The others quickly followed him out, and as soon as they saw Caitlin start to wake up, Adam locked the gate shut. "Hey!" The girl gasped, running to the door. "What are you doing?"

"You betrayed us, and Morfs pride themselves on being loyal to fellow Morfs, Caitlin." Chase had echoed her words in a mocking way. "Later."

As the team went to walk out, a man had blocked their path, making Bree gasp once she recognised him. "Andre Ethier."

"Hey, you guys know where I can change?" Andre asked the group. "I got a game tonight and I don't wanna make the mistake of showing up in this thing again. It's not very flattering on the jumbotron."

"I'll, uh, I'll tell you where the bathroom is, if you give me an autograph." Chase proposed and held out his case.

"Baseball fan, huh?" Andre assumed.

"Nope." Chase beamed at Andre who began to do his signature.

"Hey there, Andre. I'm Bree." The brown-haired girl introduced, trying hard not to freak out.

"That's a beautiful name." Andre complimented.

"Thank you. I came up with it myself." Bree was speaking nonsense. "Wait. No, I didn't. Who's talking? Hi." She giggled.

"Bree, calm voice." Emilia reminded the girl who pursed her lips, trying to stay calm.

Chase smiled and grabbed his case back after the baseball star had finished signing it. "Uh, second door on the left." Chase informed.

"Thanks." Andre smiled before turning to Emilia and Adam, noticing their costumes. "Space Dog. That's brilliant."

"I knew it!" Adam yelled in excitement before he ran out the room with the others following him, leaving Caitlin in the cell.
