04, another rebel?

CHAPTER FOUR, under siege

โ”€โ”€โ”€ ๏ฝฅ ๏ฝก๏พŸโ˜†: *.โ˜ฝ .* :โ˜†๏พŸ. โ”€โ”€โ”€

"Welcome to Perry's Paradise Resort." Perry had announced as she emerged from the hydra-loop with Kerry, her niece standing beside her. "Don't worry about your bags. One of the robot bellhops will get them."

She clapped her hands, motioning for either one of the members of the bionic team to come forward and only Adam listened, who seemed too excited about sliding the suitcase around like a sledge.

Once Adam had disappeared from their view, the two Perry's approached the group, the older woman beginning to talk. "You remember my sweet niece Kerry."

"Sweet? Yeah sure." Emilia approached, scoffing at the woman's choice of words along with Bree who questioned. "No, but would your evil niece Kerry like to introduce her to us?"

Perry grinned, walking around them as she began to inform. "She's staying for the weekend. Give her a room with a view. Here you go." She instructed, passing fake money to Chase.

"This is money from a board game." Chase pointed out in annoyance.

Perry grinned. "And there's plenty more where that came from."

"Don't worry, I won't be a bother. You won't even know I'm here. I just want to spend some quality time with my favourite Auntie Terry." Kerry spoke up in her usual fake sweet voice, earning a mocking groan from the three bionic mentors.

"I have been accused of being fun. And of identity theft." Perry chuckled, earning an unamused stare from Emilia who muttered. "Why am I not surprised?"

"You're not fooling us, Kerry." Chase started to point out, narrowing his eyes. "You act all nice until your aunt's gone, and then you go off to trip roller skaters and sell ice packs to the injured."

"My sweet niece would never do that." Perry said, once again believing Kerry before turning to the young girl, narrowing her eyes. "Everyone knows the roller rink is my turf." Her mood instantly changed at the sight of the other Davenport brother passing by, reaching out to grab him before he could escape. "Dougie!"

She linked arms with Douglas before turning to her niece at her introduction. "Kerry, I'd like you to meet your future uncle, Douglas."

"I've heard all about you." Kerry responded with a fake smile. "You're the one obsessed with my aunt."

"Yeah..." Douglas trailed off after shaking Kerry's hand before turning to Perry, making a gesture as he continued. "She is a... a handsome woman."

"Settle down, Romeo. There's kids here." Perry laughed at her own remark, earning confused stares from the group. "Come on. Help me get her room ready."

"Yeah. Be right there." Douglas fake laughed as he looked at Perry who turned around and walked out the room, giving him the chance to run the other way.

"That's understandable." The banshee hummed, nodding her head.

"So this is the monster who owned you three last year?" Leo theorised, walking around Kerry to stand beside Emilia who tugged on his shirt, a look in her eyes that made Leo squeal before correcting himself. "Two. I mean you two."

"That's better." Emilia smiled in satisfaction as she pulled her hands away from Leo's shirt, who turned to face Chase and Bree. "I'm sorry but what did she do, not invite you to her tea party?"

Leo laughed due to his own amusement, unaware of the look Emilia held on her face, muttering under her breath. "Wait for it..."

"Keep talking and I'll snap those little twigs you call arms." Kerry threatened through a scowl, surprising Leo who stepped back slightly.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. These are bionic twigs. Well, this one is." Leo was quick to correct, gesturing to his right arm. "From here down."

"So... what's your game, Kerry?" Bree questioned as she stepped towards the girl with her arms crossed over her chest. "Why are you really here?"

"Gotta lay low till the heat blows over. Got sloppy on my last job back at Creek." Kerry informed.

"What did you do this time?" Chase questioned.

"Till the witness wakes up, nothing." The younger girl shrugged her shoulders through her response. "Just stay out of my way and I'll stay out of yours."

They watched as Kerry walked out the room just when Chase began fumbling through his pockets, his eyes widening at the realisation. "Hey! She took my wallet."

The boy went to run after her, only to stop when he felt attached to something, turning back to see that Kerry had managed to handcuff him to Bree who groaned.

Leo laughed in amusement. "Oh, man, she owned you guys again." He pointed out before starting to walk away, stopping when he was pulled down to the floor, revealing that Kerry had handcuffed his ankles.

"Wow, she's good." Emilia chuckled softly, being the only one that wasn't pranked. "But, I still don't like her."

โ”€โ”€โ”€ ๏ฝฅ ๏ฝก๏พŸโ˜†: *.โ˜ฝ .* :โ˜†๏พŸ. โ”€โ”€โ”€

The next morning, the group had woken up to a suspicious sight, leading for them to believe that someone had broken in, especially when Chase had found Leo's tablet on the floor, broken.

"Leo, wake up!" Chase approached Leo who was sleeping on the couch, earning a groan from the boy who finally woke up. "Did you hear anything last night? Someone broke in."

"No, but I am a really deep sleeper." Leo sat up on the couch as he responded, letting out a chuckle as he continued. "I cannot tell you how many times I've woken up in a body bag."

"I am very concerned for you." Emilia said with the shake of her head, furrowing her brows at the Dooley in question when Bree piped up. "This had to be Perry's niece."

"Wow, you got schooled by a toddler again?" Leo questioned, his tone showing clear amusement when he looked to Emilia who sighed, quick to deadpan. "She broke your tablet, dingus."

"Bring her to me." Leo ordered, his face dropping in anger as he was quick to stand up from the couch, waiting as Bree super speeded out the room to get Kerry.

"Whoa, you're fast. Homely, but fast." The brown haired girl said to Bree after the two stopped beside Adam.

Bree ignored her comment. "We know what you did." She reminded Kerry, a look of anger on her face. But before Kerry could respond, Adam then chimed in. "Yeah, that thing with the handcuffs. You've been going to magic school."

From behind Adam, Chase narrowed his eyes at Kerry with an order. "You're gonna replace everything you stole or broke."

"I didn't do it." Kerry scoffed at them, but it was not a surprise that they didn't believe her, unlike Adam who sighed. "Well, that clears that up. Back to bed."

Kerry attempted to escape but Chase was quick to rush after her. "Hey, you're not going anywhere."

"Aunt Terry!" Kerry screamed, causing Chase to stick his fingers in his ears, letting out his own scream. "Did it ever occur to you that I have bionic hearing?"

"Really?" Bree scoffed at her brother. "Your own girlfriend is a banshee, yet you react like that when she screams."

"Oh shush." Chase simply waved Bree off, giving her a look before turning back to Kerry who smirked.

"Good to know. Aunt Terry!"

"Alright, be quiet-" Emilia huffed at the younger teen as Chase repeated his actions, just when Perry came walking in, wearing matching pajamas with her niece.

"What is all the yelling about? I didn't even have time to put my face on?" Perry questioned, looking at the group through her tired eyes.

"Wait, that thing's removable?" Leo perked up at that, questioning the woman which earned a snicker from Emilia.

Bree pursed her lips before turning to the older woman to inform. "Your precious little niece ransacked the place."

Kerry scoffed, turning to her aunt. "I don't know what they mean, Aunt Terry. I was sound asleep, dreaming of cute little kittens, when I was ripped out of bed by this bionic she-man."

"How dare you accuse my sweet little angel? Me, I get. Cousin Cletus, Grandma Flat Nose, the Pug twins, absolutely." Perry vented to the group with a scoff at her lips. "But her? Impossible."

"You call your grandmother Grandma Flat Nose?" Chase questioned.

"Well, not to her face." Perry shrugged. "She's kinda hard to look at." She sighed before telling the group. "I can prove Kerry's innocent. We'll just check the security footage."

But as it turned out moments later, the security footage was unavailable to them, making Chase sigh as he gestured towards the monitor. "The monitor's broken. I can't pull up the security footage."

"It's okay. I'll fix it." Perry shrugged as she took a step forward. "I can fix anything. I used to be the leading technician for NASA."

"You worked for NASA?" Bree questioned in disbelief.

"Probably not the one we're thinking of." Emilia hummed in theory. And she was proven right as Perry informed. "Yeah. The North American Sumo Association. I put the pins on the diapers."

The older woman sighed before approaching the big monitor with a hum. She placed her hand on the wall, banging against it as she ordered. "Fixie, fixie, fixie, fixie!"

"Wait, don't!" Chase called, pulling the woman away from the monitor, earning a sigh from Bree who spoke with sarcasm. "Wow. Can't believe that didn't do it."

"Well, I might know why." Emilia gestured to the cut wires from the cyberdesk. "I just have many questions such as, how did someone fry the server?"

"That means all the cameras are down." Chase sighed, examining the cut wires himself.

Bree instantly looked towards the young girl with an accusing look in her eyes. "You knew you'd get busted so you destroyed the evidence."

Before anyone else could utter a word, Leo called them into the cafeteria, earning looks of shock upon seeing the room a complete mess.

"What do you have to say for yourself now, Kerry?"

"That you people are slobs?" Kerry responded as if it was obvious.

Chase sighed, turning to Perry. "Look, your niece is playing you. The whole 'sweet and innocent' thing, it's an act."

"Aunt Terry, I didn't do this." Kerry defended still, making Emilia roll her eyes. Even if she was still deciding whether to believe her or not.

"Of course you didn't." Perry was quick to believe the young girl, walking over to stand beside Kerry as she declared. "I'm gonna catch the real culprit even if I have to stay up all night, which will be easy, 'cause I spent the winter in hibernation."

โ”€โ”€โ”€ ๏ฝฅ ๏ฝก๏พŸโ˜†: *.โ˜ฝ .* :โ˜†๏พŸ. โ”€โ”€โ”€

"What happened?" Leo questioned, running into the common area the next morning with Adam, Bree and Chase behind him.

"Someone must've attacked her." Douglas then informed the group, while keeping an eye on the brunette beside him who's eyes began to flutter every now and then. "I was about to check on her, but I need one of you guys to make sure she's really unconscious before I get my face too close."

Chase stepped forward, crouching down to check Perry's pulse, earning a sigh of relief. "I think she's gonna be okay."

"What, you're a doctor now?" Adam questioned.

"I checked her pulse." Chase reminded the boy who chuckled in response, followed by a correction. "No, sorry, I wasn't making fun of you. I just wanted to see if you'd take a look at this rash."

"Oh, my head." Perry groaned, her eyes finally opening as she woke up from her unconscious state.

Emilia sighed, turning to the man beside her with a suggestion. "Douglas, you might want to get her to the infirmary."

"Good idea." Douglas agreed. "Let's put her down humanely."

The Hunter watched in amusement as Douglas motioned for two of the students to grab a hold of Perry's arms and dragged her out the room with him following behind.

"I can't believe Kerry would hurt her own aunt just to get away with more crimes." Bree pointed out through a scoff.

And this is when they started to doubt that Kerry was the actual culprit as Chase sighed. "Yeah. It doesn't make sense. What if it's not her?"

"Who would want to hurt Perry?" Leo questioned before raising his finger in the air. "Correction. Who would actually hurt Perry?"

"Let's think this through." Chase said before he began to recap the evidence. "First, Leo's tablet was damaged. Maybe someone was trying to find classified information but couldn't figure out the password, so they tossed it aside. Then, the criminal disabled the security cameras, because they didn't want anyone tracking their movements. When Perry started pursuing them, they probably took her out."

"Guys, look." The sound of Leo's voice drew their attention away and towards the hydra-loop when Leo informed. "They took out the hydra-loop too. Whoever did this just trapped us on the island."

"Hold on a second." Emilia piped up, gesturing to the damage in the hydra-loop. "Bub, don't those burn marks look like the ones from bionics."

"Yeah, they do." Chase pulled a face of realisation as he stepped inside the hydra-loop to get a closer look. "The last time something like this happened, it was Sebastian leading a rebellion."

"You don't think..." Emilia trailed off, muttering under her breath when Chase voiced his thoughts. "Guys, there's still a rebel living among us."

Bree threw her arm up to the side. "How could there still be a rebel here?"

Chase sighed. "I don't know, but for now, everyone's a suspect."

"You!" Chase was caught off guard by Adam who suddenly pointed his finger in his face. "I knew it was you all along."

"I was with you the whole time." Chase reminded his brother in annoyance, before Adam gestured to himself, pointing his finger to his chest as he gasped. "Me! I knew it was me all along."

"Here, have these." Emilia pulled out a packet of skittles from her pocket before throwing them towards Adam for him to catch, muttering out a 'yay' in response. She sighed before turning back to the others. "Look, Sebastian's rebellion almost destroyed this academy. I'm not gonna let that happen again."

Nodding in understanding, Chase then turned to the students with an instruction. "Everyone back to the dorm. You're on lockdown until further notice."

"Good idea. We'll keep 'em there until we can question everyone." Bree pointed out as the students began to follow Chase's instruction.

The group drew their attention away from the students and towards the doorway where Douglas and Kerry entered, holding Perry between them who sang. "Here comes the bride."

Leaving Kerry to help Perry settle down on one of the stools, Douglas pulled away and turned to the group with an explanation. "Good news is, she checked out okay. Bad news is, she checked out okay."

"Okay, what happened? Who attacked you?" Bree didn't hesitate to ask, needing to know more information about what or who is causing this damage in the academy.

Perry groaned in response. "Oh, I'm still a little foggy, but I remember being on the front lines. Then, out of the darkness, eleven giant guys in helmets started to charge me." She paused for a moment. "No, wait. That was when I ran onto the field during the Bears game."

"That was you? I thought that was a mascot." Leo responded, looking at the woman with shock, as did everyone else when Bree questioned. "So you seriously don't remember being shot at?"

Perry scoffed. "Look, all I know is that some bionic freak attacked me, and I could really use a hug." Her attention was now on Douglas with a pout at her lips, along with her arms held out in front of her. Everyone else backed away, leaving the man standing alone looking at the group helplessly before letting out a sigh.

Just as he went to lean in, he backed away before his hands could touch hers. "Nope. Can't. Sorry."

Emilia shook her head. "Look, we have to stop that rebel or whatever it is. How about we split up and patrol the academy?"

"Good idea." Chase nodded. "Any questions?"

Kerry then stepped forward with narrowed eyes, approaching Chase. "Yeah. Now that you know it wasn't me, is there something you'd like to say?"

"Yes. Can I please have my wallet back?"

โ”€โ”€โ”€ ๏ฝฅ ๏ฝก๏พŸโ˜†: *.โ˜ฝ .* :โ˜†๏พŸ. โ”€โ”€โ”€

"3:00am. Common area is clear." Chase informed the group through his com-set as he shined his flashlight around the room.

"Living quarters. All clear." Douglas informed as he stood in the mentors headquarters before his attention was drawn away and towards the corner of the room. "Emilia! Hey, at least save me some of that pizza."

"All clear here, too." Perry informed, standing in her specific area she was given, when her eyes lit up. "Here that, Douglas? I'm all alone."

"Somebody else say something. Please." Douglas begged through the com-set, earning a giggle from Emilia.

Chase sighed, a playful smile at his lips as he then spoke through the com-set. "Well to be honest, I would much rather prefer Lia in the same room with me, right now. But-"

"Not that!" Douglas interrupted along with Bree who begged with a look of disgust plastered on her face. "Yes. Don't you even dare finish that sentence. Save that for when you two are alone, please."

"I wasn't even thinking that, Bree-" Chase went to say, stating his point when Emilia sighed, a smile of amusement at her lips as she spoke through the com-set. "Chase, I'm fine. You don't need to worry."

"Okay, fine. But, you can't blame me." Chase then sighed. "Adam, what about the weapons area?"

"All clear in the boom-boom room."

"Checked the capsule dorm three times. It's all clear." Bree informed through her com-set as she laid down one of the lounge chairs by the pool.

"Are you texting?" Chase asked his sister.

"No."

"I can hear you." Chase reminded in irritation.

"Fine. I'll stop." Bree lied before finishing what she was typing, sending the message which made Chase's phone chime.

"Chase is a jerk." The boy practically scoffed as he read the text. "I think you sent this to the wrong person."

"Nope."

Chase ignored Bree and decided to put his focus on another member of the group. "How's the training area, Leo?" Getting no response from the Dooley, he called out. "Leo. Leo! Guys, he's not responding. Get down here fast."

Soon all gathering in the training area apart from Douglas, Emilia and Leo, Chase didn't waste any time to ask first. "Has anyone seen Leo?"

"Yes. He's a sixteen year old male, about 5'7, answers to the name Leo." Adam cluelessly responded, shining his flashlight around the room.

"Guys, I know you're fearing the worst, but you have to remember, it's only Dooley." Perry pointed out, shrugging her shoulders until they all jumped back at the sound of an explosion.

"Oh, no. The weapons room." Chase theorised, looking at his siblings in panic. "Let's go." The three siblings didn't waste any time to run out the room with Perry following behind.

"I got it." Adam pointed out when they ran into the weapons area and spotted a fire, and didn't waste any time before he used his pressurised lung-capacity to put the fire out.

"That was close." Chase sighed, almost in relief as he continued. "The rebel almost blew up the whole academy."

It was at that moment, they heard muffled shouts through their com-set, followed by Douglas' voice. "Of course. It's you." Almost as if he found the culprit, the man began to plead, his face filled with fear as he begged the person not to hurt him. But before they could, the sound of Emilia's ear piercing scream caught everyone, including him, off guard as it echoed around the academy.

And Emilia fell to the ground at the contact of the blast.

"Duggles!" Perry screamed, assuming the man she was obsessed with was hurt. And she didn't hesitate to push Adam out the way, making a run for it as she headed towards Douglas and Emilia's assigned room.

"Emilia!" Chase screamed for his girlfriend after the sound of her scream almost made his ears bleed, and unlike Perry, he believed the Hunter was the one who was hurt. Or it could have been both of them.

It wasn't long before the group rushed into the mentors headquarters with Perry stood in front, spotting Douglas on the ground. "No, the one person I cared about." She paused for a moment upon seeing the looks she received. "And oh poor Hunter."

"Lia!" Chase shouted, rushing past Perry to hover over his girlfriend as Perry did the same with Douglas who had been blasted by the culprit not long after Emilia. "First Perry and now those two. The rebel's trying to take us out one by one. But managed to pull double, this time. We're officially under attack."

"Oh, man, really? It's the weekend." Adam then groaned, earning an annoyed look from Chase who turned away from his girlfriend and the dry blood hanging under her nose.

"Another blast." Bree stated after the group felt the room shake once again.

Perry looked towards the siblings. "Go. I'll stay here and nurse him back to health." She told them, making Chase raise a brow. "And I'll keep an eye on her."

"Thank you." Chase responded sarcastically at the sigh coming from the woman, giving his unconscious girlfriend one last look before following his siblings out the room.

"Stay with me, Dougie. Don't go towards the light." Perry pleaded as she held the man in her arms.

Douglas began to cry. "I gotta be honest. I'm runnin' toward the light. Emilia, I'd really appreciate it if you would wake up."

"Who's there? Show yourself?" Chase instructed the culprit, standing in the common area as they looked towards the now exploded door. Only for the three siblings to fall into shock when Leo came walking through the door with his arm raised out in front of him and his eyes closed.

"Leo? What else is going on? Who else in there?"

"No one." Douglas informed, answering Bree as he came rushing in, holding Emilia with Perry following behind. "Leo's the one who's been attacking us."

"I knew it. Leo's the rebel." Adam gasped. "Who else would wanna take over the island?" He turned to look at Douglas upon realising what he said, furrowing his brows in question. "Wait, why is Leo the rebel?"

Before Douglas or Emilia could answer, Leo then shot out an energy blast, making the group rush over and hide behind one of the pillars with Bree asking. "What is wrong with him?"

"He's sleepwalking because his bionics are going haywire." Emilia informed tiredly, making Douglas nod before chiming in. "Basically what she is trying to say, is that he's not really rebelling. He's in some sort of a bionic trance."

Perry stared at the man in awe. "I'm in a trance watching Dougie talk all science-y."

The man grimaced, once again with the group having to move position when Leo came rounding the corner. They stopped on the other side of the pillar when Douglas snapped his fingers, realising something. "Your capsules calibrate your bionics with your nervous systems except from Emilia who doesn't need one, but since Leo doesn't have a capsule, everything's out of whack."

"So technically, this is your fault for not giving him one." Chase pointed out in annoyance.

Douglas groaned. "Come on, he's barely bionic."

Another blast was fired by Leo, making the group split up and hide behind one of the pillars or a different object, with Chase holding Emilia with him, ensuring she doesn't get hurt once again.

"That's it. I'm waking him up." Adam announced, growing impatient when Douglas was quick to stop him to explain. "No, no! The sudden stimulation could cause his arm to glitch even more. Right now, it's firing externally. If the laser spheres backfire, it could blow him apart."

"Do it, do it, do it." Perry chanted, making Emilia roll her eyes.

"But if we don't do something, he's gonna destroy the whole island!" Chase pointed out to Douglas, crouched down behind a pillar as he held Emilia in his arms when Leo's arm began to glitch.

"You guys have to find a way to contain him, then I can recalibrate his arm." Douglas instructed, dodging Leo's fire blasts along with the group until the boy suddenly disappeared and out of their sight.

โ”€โ”€โ”€ ๏ฝฅ ๏ฝก๏พŸโ˜†: *.โ˜ฝ .* :โ˜†๏พŸ.โ”€โ”€โ”€

"Kerry. Have you seen Leo?" Chase questioned as the group entered the mentors headquarters, catching the girl off-guard who was quick to throw down the belongings she was planning to steal on the ground.

"Sixteen year old male, about 5'7, answers to the name Leo." Adam pointed out.

"Uh, yeah. He went somewhere else." Kerry said rather suspiciously. Although the group began to leave the room anyway, excluding Adam who stopped to approach Kerry, noticing the baseball cap on her head. "Hey. Cool hat, I have one just like it."

Once Adam left the room, the young Perry turned to continue on what she was doing when Leo came in, standing by the pool.

"Leo?" Kerry called out, unaware of the bionic trance he was in. "If you know what's good for you, you'll pretend you never saw this. Wait. Why do you look so weird?"

"Because he's sleepwalking, now get down!" The Hunter banshee answered for Kerry as she ran into the room moments prior, managing to pull the girl to the ground to dodge Leo's blast.

Emilia left Kerry to hide behind the chair while she focused on defending herself in front of Leo who continued to fire his laser spheres until the girl ended up on the floor, groaning in pain.

At the sound of a girlish scream, the Hunter tried to stand up, even though she knew exactly who that scream belonged to, and it wasn't Kerry.

"Don't worry, Kerry. We're here to..." Perry went to say as the group ran into the room after hearing the scream, only to stop upon spotting her niece had Leo pinned to the ground and was the one letting out a high-pitched scream.

"Leo?" Chase furrowed his brows in question as he ran over to Emilia upon seeing her on the floor.

"Get her off of me!" Leo squealed with his arms reached out in front of him before Kerry finally let go of his leg. "What happened?"

Adam chuckled. "You just got body slammed by a Brownie."

"Because you and your toy arm attacked me and Emilia." Kerry defended, making Chase look at his girlfriend with concern.

"I'm okay, bub." The blue-eyed girl muttered to him with reassurance.

"What are you talking about? I was sleeping!"

"Actually, you were sleepwalking. Your bionics glitched because Douglas never gave you a capsule." Chase corrected, informing the Dooley who was quick to stare at the man in question, giving him a 'what the hell' look.

The man chuckled nervously. "But I did give you bionics. Let's focus on that."

"Wait, how did you subdue him without waking him up?" Bree questioned.

"Oh, he woke up." Kerry nodded with a smirk at her lips. "Hit 'em in the right place, they always wake up."

"She's a Perry." Perry spoke with pride, smiling at her niece.
