SUMMARY!

— ATHENA SOMMERS, a young girl who lost her bubbly personality on the night of May 23rd, 2009 — when she got into a car accident with her cousin, aunt and uncle, leaving the two youngest ones being the only survivors. The car drove over Wickery Bridge and landed in the water, where Miranda and Grayson Gilbert drowned.

Since then, her mother, Jenna Sommers, became the sole guardian of Miranda and Grayson's kids, Elena and Jeremy Gilbert, while also raising her own daughter by herself. On the other hand, her father, Jack Lockwood, she hadn't seen him since she was seven years old, and the main reason she got from her mother on why, was because he left to keep her safe, and that she would understand when got older. However, he would still send her birthday cards or gifts from time to time, like for example, when he sent her a silver heart necklace with a special herb inside, for her 17th birthday, a month after the accident. Her mother would also send him photographs from different events, just so he felt like he wasn't missing everything. As in the end, if Jack had a choice, he would've stayed, but in order to protect her, he had to leave.

After her and her cousin, Elena, had miraculously survived the car accident, that left the girls with ongoing night terrors, and the sound of Athena's scream would be the last thing she'd hear before waking up in the morning.

But when two mysterious siblings come to Mystic Falls, Athena's night terrors would lessen, at the same time, her sleep would start to overcome with dreams, seeing a dark brown-eyed brunette man with a British accent.

It was like she was seeing his own memories. And it made her wonder who he was and why she kept seeing him in her sleep. Though, one night, when a ghost in the shape of that man popped into her life, she soon got the answer she was looking for, but obviously never expected for it to be, the dark brown-eyed male who answered to the name Kol Mikaelson, was her soulmate. And there was only two ways how that would turn out for her, a road to happiness, or one big emotional rollercoaster.
