Senior Prom. Every high school senior's most anticipated night. One could say, the last time they'd attended an event as High Schoolers.

You were no different. After all, this was your last chance to enjoy yourself with your high school friends. You had the perfect dress, shoes, and outfit laid out on your bed. But you missed something essential! Your Prom Date. Which was something you had brought upon yourself.

There had been countless occasions when you were approached in the school halls, by boys.
Only for them to have shyly or cockily proposed to you to be their girlfriend. There were good boys, some of them being better than the other. But you had to decline them, either politely or harshly, depending on the level of their persistence.

You were what people called a real-life fantasy. You, in your eyes, looked nothing special, and maybe you weren't. But your personality with your gorgeous exterior made you the girl of their dreams.

And for some frustrating reason, you turned them down. No matter who, you turned them down.
And even though the whole thing started as a joke, some of the cockiest of jerks in your grade took advantage of the situation.

Just to satisfy their easily bruised ego. And they made sure that you had to show up at the prom all alone. That is if you showed up in the first place.

Almost half of the student body assumed you wouldn't show up at the prom. But prom to you wasn't just the last chance to show off but something wholly different.
It was the last chance you had to spend your time with your friends, given that you were leaving after graduation.

Where to? To your Genie, that's where! You called him 'Genie' because he behaved like one. Not that you were demanding, but he was always a step ahead at knowing your thoughts.

He knew what you needed. Even before you did. So, not calling him the 'Genie' of your life would've been an injustice. But the situation you had, was something that you had brought upon yourself, gladly! You knew you had to bear with it. So you did.

High School was all about gossip. And you had quite realized that you were gonna make it into that, no matter what! Some people talked to praise you while others did the same to shame you.
Either way, you were the talk of the town.

So, you weren't much amazed to hear the crowd burst into murmurs the moment you descended off your vehicle, dressed in a shaded, figure-hugging short dress and black strappy heels. But as always, you paid no heed to them or their whispers.
Your shimmery eyes scanned the crowd in search of your friends, and when you did spot them walking your way, your nude-coloured lips curled up in a smile.

"You came!" Jugyung exclaimed, as soon as you were withing ear-shot! "Yes, I did." You smiled, thanking your wits not to have left your hair down. The elegant up-do held together by the rhinestone headpiece was doing wonders as you did not have to go through the hassle of handling your hair as many other girls did.

"You look gorgeous! With or without a man." Soo-Ah smirked, glancing sideways. You did the same, and one would have to be blind and still see the longing in the boys' eyes as they stared at you. A smirk made its way to your lips as you had, yet again, crushed them without even touching them.

You would've flipped your hair but since that wasn't possible, you just smirked and then proceeded to enter the glammed-up basketball court with your head held up high. But as much as you hid it, it wasn't possible for you to not feel lonely. Watching the dancing and merry couples made you miss your Genie. Your Prince Charming.

Your friends and their dates gave you an apologetic smile, you returned with an encouragingly bright one. Soon, they were camouflaged in numerous pairs, swaying on the dance floor. The song changed and came on one that intensified your longing.

It was a song that he had sung, the day he had asked to hold his hand, down the road of life. The day you had vowed for him to be the only one in your life. The reason for you not having a person to dance with was that you wanted him to be the one holding you.

Dancing with you, laughing with you, and whispering in your ears. The only reason you turned those boys down was that you wanted your 'Genie' to be the only person to be able to share this night with you.

When he sang to you, you felt like screaming out of happiness! And that was the day you had wanted him, in exchange for everything that this world had to give you. And you had him. You had nothing else to ask for. You had started to tear up at the reminder of how long had it been since you had not felt the presence that you craved. You knew what you were doing. You knew what you were signing up for.  But you did not care. It didn't matter that you rarely saw each other. Or that he was miles and miles away from you.

Nothing else mattered when he was the one you had. And you knew that risk was worth the taking when you finally felt his presence, his arms once in a blue moon.

You knew the wait was worth it. Every moment you'd spend with each other was worth the distance. The whole basketball court was adorned with misty blue lights and shimmery drapes, making it look like it was a part of the clouds. Overhead was the open night sky, taking the dreamy theme a notch up from perfection.

You stared at them, wishing for nothing but time to pass quickly. To make it quicker for you to feel the warmth his smile and voice gave you. You squeezed your eyes shut, letting the lyrics of the song held so dear sink in.

Spending the smallest moments of our daily life together

Did you know that it's my greatest joy?

In my universe, You become the light.

Stay by my side, just like right now

You swallowed hard in an attempt to suppress your hyperactive emotions.

It's okay. You were okay. You were gonna see him soon. You just had to be patient.
Swallowing your tears one last time, you wished for days to just fast forward. To the day, you were gonna see him. You opened your eyes, to be scared out of your wits!

"You inconsiderate jerks! I was almost gonna fall off!" You hissed as your best friends with their dates laughed their heads off. "You looked like you needed some cheering up! Sorry!" Tae Hoon laughed, still amused at your state.

"Are you sure you don't wanna dance?" Suho offered, looking around. "You're the only one who hasn't..." You offered him a smile, again assuring you were okay.

"I'm good! I don't wanna dance with any of them, anyway!" You smiled;  "Not even me? Ah, you hurt me, my best friend!" Tae Hoon held his chest, faking his reaction. "Awww! I'm so sorry, Tae Hoon-ah! But, seriously! I'm fine." You laughed, pinching his cheeks.

"Are you sure you are?" An arm snaked around your waist and then yanked! A short cry passed your lips as you felt your body colliding with another, assuming it to be one of those jerks you'd encountered in years. "Who the-" Your angry burst died down in your mouth as you looked at the very familiar side profile, your heart leaping in your chest! If you were dreaming, you wished to be woken up now!

It was him.

"What love? Speechless?!" He asked, his lips displaying that sinister smirk that you fell for. He turned to face you, the smirk being replaced by an adorable smile as he took in your appearance.  "Wow, baby! You look gorgeous!" He held you in his arms. And that was your cue. You flung your arms around him, burying your face in the crook of his neck, and started sobbing. His tense body relaxed as he wound his arms around you, slowly patting your back.

"Sh! Sh! Baby, don't cry. I'm here now! Sh!" He consoled you, holding you tight to your chest.
It took you quite some time to pull yourself together. When you finally subsided your emotions, you pulled away from the embrace."Seojun-ah, you were supposed to be here in 3 days." You looked up at him, still in his arms. He was on tour with his band, which made you believe that you had to spend senior prom alone.

"Well, surprise!" He kissed your cheek, still smiling. You laughed, resting your forehead against his chest. Yeah! That's how short you were, compared to him. "Hey! I was the one who brought him here." Suho protested, pouting while the rest of you laughed. "Thank you, Suho-sin!" You laughed, still holding onto the love of your life, Han Seojun.

"Thank goodness, this guy told me that those punks had planned against you! As if..." He turned to you, "..I was gonna let my girl down." Heat slammed against your cheeks as he leaned down to whisper those words to you.

"Agh! Get out the two of you!" Jukyung pushed you both out to the dance floor, which made you both laugh!

He clasped his hands on your hips as you did to his neck. You both started swaying to the soft music. It was like you both could care less for the world. Lost in each other's eyes and smiles, you both let the world around evaporate. All you saw, heard and felt was each other. Too focused to even acknowledge the gawking faces of your schoolmates all over the prom.

And you both didn't even bother acknowledging your whispering campus as you run inside your Genie's arms, your degree in your hands, and a huge smile adorning your face. "I did it!" You spoke to his chest. He pulled back from the embrace and scanned your smile. "Yeah, you did! I'm so proud of you."  Seojun bent down to softly attach your lips in a sweet kiss. You indeed had the best days of your life. With your Genie.
