CHAPTER 4- Mission 1: Babysitter
No longer than a 20 minutes ride in Valerio's car, I checked Google maps following the small blue dot which followed the fat blue line. As we passed The Thames, I decided to look through the window. That's when after about 5 minutes into the journey I decided to ask him this question, "What Organisation are you working for? Because the other day I heard you say you're from," then I whispered, "U.I.S.A. Which country is that?"
"I'll tell you before you go." He replied flexing his fingers and clutching the wheel.
Then after ten to fifteen minutes or so I asked, "Ok... Are you going to say anything?"
"Well, for starters, I'm gonna give you a smart watch - just in case you are in trouble- and a laser pen that could cut through anything," he paused with one hand he removed his shades and as the car came to a halt, he said, "we're here."
As I stepped out of the car, I stood leaning against the car facing the government building although it took me a few seconds to realise Valerio was leaning against the car beside me. He placed his hands in his pockets then leaned closer to me and whispered in my ear, "I'm half Italian, born in Italy and came here when I was 12."
"Wow, that was a nice revelation." I said raising my eyebrow causing him to chuckle as he returned his posture.
"Here's your watch and a Laser pen," he handed them to me as the Prime Minister's Secretary came to receive me. He did the phone sign while smiling, "Just call me and I'll save you."
While the Secretary beckoned for me to come in, I gave him a weird look then clutching my backpack I made my way in while Valerio got in his car and drove away.
Oh, Lord help me, I thought as I stepped inside and was made to go through security checks. As I passed the security, those who worked in the organisation helped me to put an earpiece that is almost invisible in place.
I stood in the conference room behind the agent, the replacement, who sat along with very important people including The Prime Minister (I don't know the very important people's titles because my knowledge in politics is so poor - ugh). Although, I wasn't the only 'bodyguard'.
"Hello? Aria, are you receiving?" Called a voice in my earpiece.
"Yes, I am receiving." I reply lowering my voice, "Is that Valerio?"
"Yes hun, how's it going?"
"I'm doing great and it's only been half an hour. I'm caught up in a very important conference right now. Talk to me later."
"Ok, if you need my help just call me."
"Alright, bye."

Meanwhile, at Armani's house, the president was hosted there and apparently they had a great time. I couldn't help but feel slightly jealous of the fact that Armani gets to stay in her home while I have to walk around an ancient, extravagant building with very important people making sure that none of them would die that day and I was working with very unhappy, unfriendly people.
By late afternoon, the PM and his other office bearers head off to West Minister with some other bodyguards while I am left alone with the replacement whose face was covered (I forgot to mention) and some government bodyguards. During a couple of minutes sulking, I heard a noise which echoed from one of the vents in the room. I looked in its direction and saw nothing there so I thought it was nothing. I dismissed it.
"Aria are you receiving?" Cried a voice coming from my earpiece which was Armani's.
"Yes, I am receiving. What's the matter? Are you ok?"
"No, for some reason my whole house is in lockdown and we can't seem to get out. It's been like 2 hours, it's like 5.30pm and it's getting dark. There is no power too. I feel like something bad is going to happen as soon as night falls."
"Ok, I'll be there soon. I'll just need to let Valerio know and he'll call Elmer then we'll see what happens."
That's when I took out the watch Valerio gave me then pressed the power button bringing it to life. I tap the phone icon which appeared and found the caller id of Valerio which I saw it as, "Val" followed by a few emojis just to show how close we were(!) - I rolled my eyes before I tapped it and was slightly startled by the dialling noise coming from my earpiece. I then started with a, "Hello, Valerio are you receiving?"
"Yes, I am receiving. What seems to be the problem?"
"Armani's in trouble. Her home's in lockdown and there's no power. I think there'll be an ambush by night. Someone's going to assassinate The President..." I paused realising the other bodyguards and the replacement in the room were listening. I lowered my voice, "I need to be there."
"Fine, I'll send for someone to pick you up."
"You sure are lazy to pick me up aren't you? But c' mon, hurry! I have to help her - The President's in trouble."
His soft laugh rang in my ear before he said, "Your car'll be here in 2 minutes and its a BMW."
******
I stood outside the building looking out for the BMW. As soon as it turned round the curb and stopped in front of me, I hopped in and was whisked away. I didn't get a proper look at my chauffeur because I was too concerned about my friend's safety. I did thank... Her? - Anyways, I thanked her before I cautiously made my way towards one of those 3 bedroom (recently regenerated) houses. As I neared the window of Armani's house, I could tell the blinds were down and there were metal bars which resembled a prison cell's. I backed away and took my rucksack off my back, fished out the heel blade boots and switched them with the sneakers I wore. This was where I considered my two options: whether to do the attempt to break down the wooden door with my shoulder or to use the heel blade to pierce through and break it down. Yeah, the second option, I thought.
I pressed a part of the strap on the boot which is disguised as an activation button before I did my favourite move - the side kick - slamming my heel, I pierced the glass part of the wooden door causing it to shatter. I stepped through and walked through the corridor making as little noise as possible craning my neck to peer inside the living room, but no one was there so I made my way towards the kitchen/dining room. As I walked in, I found the president and Armani on the floor with their hands and feet tied together and their mouths were taped. I walked closer to them, knelt down, ripped the tape from their mouths and helped Armani to untie her hands so she could help the President untie his hands but as I removed the tape from her mouth first, for a split second she looked past my shoulder then cried, "Aria, look out!"
Before I could process her warning, I was elbowed just below my head, my body hit the floor inbetween Armani and The President. I attempted to get back up but I was pulled up by my hair forcing me to look up at the ceiling and the sound of the trigger being pulled ready to fire. I looked down to my left of peripheral vision and saw that Armani has freed herself then she placed her hands behind her back.
"Move or she dies." Said a deep voice. The person who was holding the gun against my head was bigger and taller than me; I could tell by his shadow from the remaining light from the sun which came through the kitchen window. She froze and looked at my hands as if trying to send me a message. I did get the message so I placed my hands behind my back pressing the button on the watch twice activating the heel blade. My captor didn't notice because he was speaking to someone else on the phone (I could tell by his shadow). So I did the most gruesome thing I ever did - I stabbed his toe with my heel.
He screamed in pain, dropping the phone and the gun. I grabbed the phone and punched him in the groin for good measure as he clutched his foot. Armani quickly untied The President before scrambling for the gun and shot his other leg causing him to crumple to the floor.
"You're not going anywhere Mr." Armani glowered at him who was now losing consciousness. The President got up and put on his disguises.
I told The President as I was looking for the phone jammer in my bag, "We'll call back up and arrest this man - this traitor - and the organisation will interrogate him. But may I ask, who is he?"
He replied, "I assume he is the assassin hired or bribed by my nemesis in politics: Iwan Isaacs."
"Ok, thank you. Armani call back up."
"Already did. They're on their way and Valerio's coming too. He needs to report back to John. Oh, and I handcuffed 'The Traitor'."
"Awesome," I say busily attempting to jam the phone. Then I asked, "Are we just gonna let him bleed to death?"
"Well, yes! He tried to kill you!"
"Then how will they interrogate him?"
"Fair point. What do you think Pres?" Asked Armani.
"It will be best to wait until your team arrives which I hope won't be long and they will sort him out."
"So, I guess we all agree on that point." I say happily.
"Yes." They both replied.
By then, 'The Traitor' was unconscious, I successfully jammed the phone and I asked how long til the back up team will arrive which she replied, "not long."
We both cleared up the blood that was on the floor just before they arrived which there were about four macho men in black suits followed by Valerio and Libby. Two of the men were in charge of guarding The President while the other two were in charge of performing First aid on our attacker before carrying him away and dumping him in the back of a black SUV parked outside the house. Valerio oversaw all this, but once we four were alone, he hugged me then whispered in my ear, "I'm glad you didn't flop on your first mission and it was a tough one." He did hug Armani too and said the same thing but not as affectionately as he did to me. (I could also see Libby rolling her eyes as she stood in the doorway).
"I'm guessing the mission is over." Said Armani cheerfully.
"Hello, Mr President!" Called a man somewhere in the room in a sing-song voice.
"Where is that coming from?" Asked Armani.
Valerio pointed out, "It's from the TV, look." The TV showed a man who has a French crop and has a scar from his eyebrow to his lip.
"It's public broadcast. It's everywhere." Said Libby showing her phone to us.
"Who's that?" I asked taking a look at Libby's phone.
"It's Iwan Isaacs your most wanted enemy. If you don't want everyone in the White House to die, hand over your presidency or if that isn't enough to persuade you, I'll kill your son. I am capable of those two you watch me."
And all the screens went blank. Valerio then turned to us with a devastated look on his face then said, "This mission is not over."
