George's Interlude

Being spoken over, or being spoken for.

Or, the realization about how little power you truly have.

George felt small.

He sat uncomfortably in his wooden chair as JSchlatt, Quackity and Punz argued about something he couldn't keep track of. Every time he tried to open his mouth, he automatically closed it again.

To be honest, George didn't know things would change so quickly. He remembered joining Quackity as a joke, thinking it would be funny if they beat Wilbur at his own election. He needed something funny to keep his mind off things.

Specifically, Dream.

George discreetly peeked at his communicator under the table as the other cabinet members kept arguing.

Dream

How are you?

Whatcha doing?

Hey, just because we're on a break doesn't mean we can't talk.

Hey.

When are you coming back?

Are you alright?

Are you ignoring me?

Dream?

George sighed loudly, running his fingers through his brown hair.

"Hey, Gogy, no texting during the meeting!" George's head snapped up as the members stopped talking, all eyes in him. He hid his communicator behind his back, rubbing the back of his neck shamefully.

"Got something to say, lover boy?" George glanced around nervously, looking to Quackity for support. Quackity caught his gaze, then looked away, ashamed. He was obviously scared of Schlatt too.

"Well, uh-" George shifted awkwardly. "You guys are sort of ignoring me so-"

"Oh, is little Gogy upset?" Schlatt sneered, mocking him in a baby voice.

"Well, news flash, Gogy. Not everything is about you. So sit down and let the adults talk, got that?"

George glared at Schlatt in anger. He looked to Quackity once more, but he didn't say anything.

"Too bad your little boyfriend isn't here to defend you, huh?"

George looked down, cheeks heating up in embarrassment.

"Schlatt, that's enough." Quackity's eyebrows were furrowed.

Schlatt glared at Quackity, making his face fall with fear. "Excuse me?"

"U-uhm I mean- we have better things to discuss, your excellency." Quackity lowered his head quickly, trying to make himself smaller under Schlatt's hard gaze.

"That's what I thought." Schlatt turned away, continuing their conversation. George sighed inwardly.

It had been 2 weeks since Dream had left. George remembered the day he had woken up to Dream quickly packing his things in a small satchel.

"Babe, where you going?" Dream froze in his tracks. "Babe?"

"Georgie, I'm going to have to go away for a while. I think- I think we need to take a break."

"W-what?" George's heart dropped. Was Dream sick of him already? He thought their relationship was going so well. He thought they were happy-

"Georgie, I- I can't get you involved, ok? I'll be back soon, I promise." He kissed him on the cheek quickly.

And then he was gone.

George was worried. Dream had obviously thrown himself into danger again. Something so dangerous that he couldn't even tell George.

George glanced down at his communicator again.

Where are you?
