1} a stranger & a starry sky
Curiosities of the unknown were ever so pertinent on that night. Her back against the tree of which she lived above, watching as the stars appeared like speckled paint in the sky. The grass embracing her legs as the evergreens swayed in the wind, Ruka thought. She thought of things that could be and things that couldn't. Curious curiosities of oceans, stars, of the earth, and whatever else there may be. There is beauty in the unknown. Lifting her hand as if reaching for the marvelous spectacles that dotted the skies, she soon began to hear a faint whistle. As time passed by, the whistle grew louder and louder, causing her to stand up and look around. No one ever came into the forest, especially not at that time of night. This being the main reason why that place had been her place of residence. Hearing the breaking of twigs and the shifting of trees, her heartbeat quickened out of fear. The whistling grew even louder and sounded as if it was approaching behind her. Turning around, Ruka could see a man with eyes of brown who appeared just as frightened as she was. The moment they locked eyes, they could not pull away. An unknown force of allurement connected them, rendering them speechless. Time began to hesitate and the world seized its movement, just for them. It was only around a minute later that the rustling of the trees brought her back to reality.
"..who may you be..?" she asked, her voice smooth and light as a feather. It sent chills down the unnamed man's spine.
"I'm... Danny" he replied, still in an indescribable space of shock and adoration for someone he'd never met. He questioned whether or not he was going crazy, the sight of the girl so.. alluring. It was as if she belonged in the forest, made of it.
"Are you possibly a hiker? It's quite late to be out here" she asked another question, taking her seat against the tree once again and patting the spot beside her. Walking over, he sat down next to her upon the emerald grass with a heavy sigh.
"No, I just came to explore. I'd never seen this place before now." He said, looking up at the stars along with her as she nodded.
"It is nicer in the afternoon, but the stars are beautiful at night," she told him, "I live in the treehouse above us." she smiled a little, proceeding to lay down on her back as he followed suit.
"I see," Danny replied, not exactly surprised. She looked like she belonged to the forest, truly a force of nature, but a gentle one. Turning his head to look at her, he tried to catch a glimpse of her face once again.
"What is your name?"
"Ruka... Ruka Hanami." Turning her head for the same reason, she smiled slightly upon seeing he was watching her. With their eyes connecting once again, he could finally see hers better. They were filled with an emerald ocean, a nurturing green only the forest could emulate. Her aura was so unique that it did not feel real. Her hair was brown as the trees in fall, her skin appearing soft to the touch. Despite all these gentle-sounding attributes, she had a unique sense of power. Truly a child of the forest.
"I have to say.. you're very beautiful." Danny continued to look her into the eyes as the corners of her lips rose once again.
"So are you," She said, slowly sitting up.
"What do you think of this place so far?" she questioned, curious for his opinion. He stayed laying on his back, gazing up at her figure.
"It's beautiful, like you." He winked, "It's almost like you're a part of this place, like it created you." She smiled a little more, his compliment not surprising her but making her feel a new sense of joy. She'd always been content with what she had and nothing else, so finally having a feeling of overwhelming joy was... nice.
"Thank you," she said, looking down at him with her smile, "You keep reminding me of the stars. It's mysterious but comforting at the same time." Standing up, she took one last look at the sky before beginning to climb the ladder up to the treehouse.
"Goodbye, Danny," She waved from the top, peering down at him once again, "I hope we cross paths once again," Ruka said before walking inside the house. Upon closing the door, she heaved a sigh, smiling a little because of how amazing the experience had been. The man had been so gorgeous and held an aura of calamity that she couldn't even try to comprehend. His eyes were ones of the night sky, his beautiful hair the color of the stars. But all things that withhold such beauty must have a dark side. She wouldn't enter into such a new relationship with another without truly knowing them. That would be like blindly going into a book without reading the description on the back of it. Despite how terrifying it could be to dance in the dark in terms of such things, there was a slight sense of thrill and excitement that aligned with that fear. Our hearts are caged by our fears, chained by our relationships, and beaten by our self-hatred. Even so, she felt a sense of trust in the stranger.
