"Be our manager."

"Haha, no." You replied.

"What?"

"Fat chance I'll be your manager. I'm busy."

"I see." He mumbled thoughtfully.

"Wakatoshi-kun! You can't just give up that easily." A third voice spoke, sitting up in one of the beds in the nurses office. You let out a yelp in surprise.

"Oh so this was your idea, Satori." You sighed.

"Guilty as charged (f/n)-chan." He grinned.

"I'm not going to be your manager, that's that." You stated.

"Not even if I blackmail you?" Tendo asked.

"Wha— you don't have anything on me." You snapped.

"A video of you punching Wakatoshi-kun doesn't count? You won't mind if I send it to the year then?" He teased.

"Satori you little—"

"Just be the manager (f/n)-chan." Tendo asked, "we need someone like you."

You looked at Ushijima pleadingly, as if he could get you out of this situation but he was also looking at you expectantly waiting for an answer.

"I'll think about it." You mumbled, knowing there was no way out of it but still too prideful to admit defeat immediately. "Now get back to class you two. Satori you better watch out. I'm coming for you, you little shit." You warned and left the nurses office.

"You pissed her off."

"Just watch Wakatoshi-kun! Starting tomorrow we'll have our very own manager!"

"She didn't agree to it."

"It's (f/n)-chan, she'd never tell you flat out." Tendo shrugged.

"I see." Ushijima said after some thought. "Interesting."

"Toilet tissue, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, oh— coffee powder!" You whizzed around the store buying necessities to keep you going, and by the time you were done, your wallet was empty. "Damn it, I'll need to work more shifts over the weekend." You sighed and half pulled half dragged the shopping bags out of the shop.

The weight was overwhelming and you took multiple breaks to give your arms some rest.

"Need some help with that?" Startled, you looked up only to relax when you saw Ushijima.

"Oh, uh, no it's fine." You smiled, brushing off his offer as formality even though you'd desperately appreciate his help.

"Okay then. See you around." He said, walking off and leaving you dumbfounded.

Wait, is he seriously just leaving? I was just saying no to be polite!

"Uh— wait! Maybe I could, use your help?" You called.

"Why didn't you say so?" He said quietly as he took the bags from your hands.

This made you think. You didn't really know why you didn't just ask him to help flat out. "I don't like asking for help. I think."

"You think? Well then, at least accept help when it's offered to you." He mumbled before walking ahead.

"Ah, wait— Ushijima-san, my house is this way." You pointed and he nodded and followed suit.

The walk consisted of you attempting to make conversation and Ushijima giving you short responses but you weren't one to give up easily.

"The weathers lovely isn't it?" You said as your 5th attempt at a conversation starter. As if on cue, it began to rain.
You were almost certain Ushijima cracked a grin, which made you a little proud. He wasn't easy to entertain.

"Yeah. Great weather."

The two of you picked up your pace and you took off your hoodie and covered Ushijima's head with it. He gave you a puzzled look.

"You can't get sick because you're helping me out." You shrugged and fumbled with your keys to hide your awkwardness.

"I don't get sick."

"You're not superhuman you dumbass. Let me do this much."

He didn't seem to understand but didn't protest either. Eventually, you neared your house. You stepped inside and held the door open. "You're not waiting for the rain to die down?"

He shook his head.

"At least have something warm before you go. Tea? Coffee? Hot chocolate?" He couldn't turn down a decent hot chocolate so he stepped inside, handing you back your hoodie.
"Give it back another day, you'll be walking home in the rain."

Wow, if a kidnapper tried to lure him in, it would be way too easy for them.

He nodded and drank the hot chocolate  you prepared fairly quickly, and placed the mug down. "Are your parents not home?"

You froze, not having expected that question to come out of the blue.
"N-no. I live alone, my parents are away." It sounded absolutely ridiculous for a high school girl to be living on her own, but Ushijima surprisingly bought it. It wasn't completely a lie. You changed the topic with ease and it got a little late. It was still raining outside but it was much lighter now.

"Thanks for helping me out, Ushijima-san." You said with a bow. "I'll return the favour someday."

He was already out your door, but turned around and paused. "You don't need to reschedule your therapy sessions."

"Excuse me?" You asked, taken aback.

"Your sessions." He said, pointing to your calendar, which had a sticky note telling you to change the timing of your therapy sessions in order to sign up as manager for volleyball club. "They're on Mondays and Saturdays right? Monday's are break days and Saturday practice is voluntary. You don't have to be there for either."

"Oh." You managed.

"See you at school, (l/n)-san."

"Yeah. Sure. See you." You said with a wave. "And uh. Could you, maybe, keep this between us? My therapy sessions. I don't really want people to know."

He nodded. "Of course." He replied and waved off without so much as a wave.

"That boy could do with some social skills." You mumbled to yourself before locking your door once inside.

You eyed your calendar. "Even if he said Saturday is voluntary, I'm sure everyone shows up out of dedication. I can't be a half assed manager." You sighed.

You pulled out your laptop to write an email to your therapist to ask for early morning sessions if she were available so you could help out with club activities. You glanced at the clock. It was quite late, you weren't expecting a reply anytime soon so you closed your laptop and attempted to sleep.

"Are your parents not home?"

Ushijima's words repeated themselves in your head.

"No, Ushijima-san." You whispered aloud, your voice trembling while reaching out to take a family photo frame into your hands. "They're long gone."
