"l/n? what happened? you do know you're still off work right?"
"ah, kageyama. about that." you sighed. "i'm not here for work. we kind of have a problem."
"what's wrong?" he asked, pausing his work.
"tsukishima got shot."
"what? when? where?" kageyama stood up in a hurry.
"don't worry, yamaguchi saw us outside and took tsukishima to the medical room with me. i was told his wound wasn't deep, so he'll be fine."
kageyama looked uneasy, but a little more relieved when he heard that tsukshima was in good care. "that amateur." kageyama muttered.
"me?"
"no, the stupid dino nerd. he should've known better than to let his guard down."
"you sure you're not just cursing him out of worry?" you chuckled.
"of course not. i don't care if he— ok maybe."
you smiled. "i thought as much. don't worry, he's okay. i just need to report what happened."
"i'll go with you." kageyama offered.
"oh, thanks. i'd appreciate that."

"you're not the only one who was targeted." ukai declared.
"wait what?"
"you and all the other new recruits, somehow your addresses were leaked to other agencies. there's a mole in the system, that's for sure. only one other agent was harmed, and it's not too serious either. they're all being relocated, including you, so stay here until you find out where you're moving to." he explained.
"sir, we didn't receive any news of this." kageyama interrupted.
"i just got the call myself, i'll leave it to you to relay the information to kiyoko." ukai instructed. "and l/n. why were you with tsukishima today?"
"um, that's personal, sir." you responded carefully, too cautious to admit to your driving lessons. tsukishima had made it clear that your lack of driving skills shouldn't be made public.
"they probably went on a date, sir." kageyama snickered, causing you to glare at him.
"shut up you blueberry looking ass, as if i'd go out with that french fry." you scoffed.
"is that a confession i hear?" he teased.
"...dismissed." ukai muttered tiredly.
you and kageyama both nodded and left the office, still arguing about whether or not you liked tsukishima.
you didn't. you were sure of it. you thought he was good looking, and of course he had his moments where he was borderline caring, but that happened once in a blue moon. every other time, he was a jerk, and treated you with little to no respect. not to mention, looked down on you.
you knew you weren't perfect, but his methods could very well be less harsh.
"i'll catch you later then, l/n." kageyama said, turning to the corridor. "if that idiot does something stupid, punch him for me."
"you don't have to tell me twice." you grinned. "see you."
and with that, the two of you split up to go your own way. you returned to the medical room to see how tsukishima was doing, and to your surprise he was already awake.
"oh, hey. you're alive." you greeted.
"why do you sound disappointed?"
"excuse you, i was worried."
tsukishima gave you a doubtful look. "really?"
"yes really, unlike you, i actually care about my fellow agents." you huffed.
"l/n, you only know a handful of us."
"and i would risk my life for all of you."
"sounds like a waste."
"right? i wouldn't actually, it's just in the oath." you sighed.
"you say that but you really did risk your life today. again." he pointed out.
"well i couldn't stand there and watch you get shot now could i?"
"pfft— you thought that was a compliment? you risked your life with your stupidity, idiot. remember stepping on that coke can? amateur mistake. you could've been killed if that was a mission." tsukishima had only just woken up but he was already nit picking at everything you did.
"and yet i come out unscathed and you're the one with a gunshot wound. kageyama said you were the amateur for even letting your guard down." you retorted.
"that asshole said what?"
"you heard her the first time." both you and tsukishima turned your heads to see kageyama walk through the door. "how's my favourite drinking buddy?"
"fuck off, king." tsukishima muttered. "can't believe you'd trash me behind my back."
"oh, but i was just coming here to say it to your face." kageyama protested, causing you to chuckle.
"anyway, how's your shoulder? it's not serious right?" you intervened before they got into a heated argument.
"it's fine. hurts like a bitch though." tsukishima admitted.
"aw, should i kiss it better?" kageyama offered, puckering his lips. tsukishima immediately stepped away and visibly shuddered.
"you're gonna give me nightmares, king. what are you even doing here, don't you have work to do?"
"oh, shit. yeah i came here to tell l/n where her new place is." kageyama said, turning to face you.
"why's she moving?" tsukishima asked confused.
"dude. you were shot near her place, you think the agency would let her stay there?"
"right. fair point. keep going."
"l/n, you'll be moving in with tsukishima, i'll text you the address."
"huh?"
"what?"
kageyama chuckled and yours and tsukishima's reactions. "it's only temporary. l/n, for you, it's either moving in with her for a week or two, or rooming with a bunch of other new agents you're not at all familiar with."
kageyama turned to the blonde and continued speaking. "and for you tsukishima, if l/n doesn't move in, you'll need a nurse to live with you temporarily since you're valuable to the agency. personally, i think it's a good deal for l/n to be there for the time being. you're more comfortable around each other than a bunch of strangers, right?"
you eyed tsukishima cautiously. "say, kageyama, how the fuck did the agency end up pairing me with him?"
he smiled mischievously. "i might have something to do with that."
"you stupid king i swear to god—"
"i wish you both a happy married life." kageyama added.
"we're not getting married." you groaned.
"oh yes, of course. you're taking it slow. i understand." kageyama wiggled his eyebrows at you and you had to refrain from punching him instead.
"i thought i could trust you, kageyama. guess i was wrong." you grumbled.
"sorry l/n, it's just fun to get this guy riled up. it's not a very common occasion."
you glanced at tsukishima and cracked a grin at his constipated face. "i see your point. you're forgiven."
"yamaguchi's waiting downstairs to drive you both. don't take too long." kageyama said before he took his leave.
"so..."
tsukishima briskly walked past you before you could start a conversation.
"well isn't this fun." you muttered with an eye roll before following.
"wait up you breadstick, i'm coming!"
