It was evening and Yukio was more excited than ever. Since she'd just made it official with Kenji, she hadn't been able to stop smiling.
She continuously asked if you were okay with her dating your ex but you insisted it was fine. "Kenji and I didn't even date properly. Three dates, Yukio. Plus he cheated on me. I don't think my feelings for him were that strong either. But he's changed, and he's a good guy now. I trust he'll take good care of you, and if he doesn't he's as good as gone."
Yukio was relieved. "Thank you for being the bestest friend in the world." She said softly, pulling you into a hug.
You smiled and hugged her back and you were enjoying the moment until Yukio opened her big mouth again.
"I'm going to make you look so good that Kageyama won't be able to hold himself back." She said with a wink and hurled my dress at me, telling me to hurry up and put it on.
Great. You sighed. Way to ruin the moment we were having Yukio.
You obeyed promptly and let her do your makeup. You returned the favour of course and tried braiding your hair in different styles but it didn't seem to match the outfit.
"I'll curl it for you!" Yukio squealed, pulling out a hair curler out of who knows where. You nodded and trusted her to do your hair, hoping she wouldn't burn it all off.
Luckily, you made it through with your hair intact. You found a braid online and tried it on Yukio's hair which worked out pretty well and the two of you were all set.
But you still had an hour left before your dates arrived.
Yukio pulled out her nail kit and the two of you helped each other with perfecting your manicures.
After a painfully long hour of waiting, the doorbell rang. Yukio stumbled in her heels since she was rushing to open he door and you only chuckled.
Young love.
Kenji stood there with his mouth wide open and Yukio, your friend who always had something to say had suddenly lost the ability to speak normally.
They stood for a solid minute, awkwardly trying to have small talk when you yelled "Just fuck already!"
"(F/n)!" They both exclaimed and you laughed.
"Stop acting like you just met. You guys are gonna be okay. I'm your wing woman afterall~"
"Aww, (f/n)!" Yukio gushed.
"If I'm not maid of honour on your wedding day I will flip, just letting you know in advance." You added and scurried off before Kenji and Yukio could attack you for embarrassing them.
A while later, Kageyama also showed up. "You look nice." You greeted, trying not to show how flustered you were. Luckily you were quite good at hiding it.
"You too." He replied and handed you a small bouquet of flowers. You smiled and brought them closer to your face, to get a whiff of the scent. "They're fake." Kageyama added and you pouted.
"I knew that." You scoffed earning a laugh.
He flicked your forehead. "I was kidding. They're real, and they smell pretty good too." You punched him in the arm for trying to fool you but inhaled the scent of the flowers. He was right about one thing, they smelled pretty damn good.
Not long after, Yachi showed up at our house and we helped her with her makeup real quick. Yukio and you had invited her and she agreed but said she'd be a little late since her mom didn't want her to spend too much time outside.
Hinata too, came. In time too, because the limo had arrived. We were all early, Yukio and you had to be since we were the decoration committee so we were running around doing last minute touch ups and the place looked amazing.
For a bunch of amateurs, the place wasn't bad at all. The food arrived and Kageyama helped you sort everything out, with you having to slap his hand away from picking at snacks here and there of course.
All in all, you felt accomplished at being a part of the decoration committee, the place was spotless and you could brag about it all you wanted.
The party was soon in full swing and there were obviously those dumb students who got piss drunk in front of teachers which was a pretty stupid move and got kicked out of the party hall for causing a ruckus.
It was around 11 p.m. and you were having the time of your life. You couldn't really dance, some say you have two left feet and others say you move really well so you didn't know which to believe.
But that didn't top you from having fun.
You waved your hands in the air without a care in the world about looking like an absolute idiot.
Kageyama was hesitant at first, but eventually he let loose and to your surprise, he was good at dancing.
Like really good.
You rolled your eyes internally. What was this boy not good at? Apart from studying.
You shrugged it off and continued dancing. You'd somehow managed to get yourself a line of people wanting to dance with you but you only agreed to Yukio and Yachi since you weren't about to ditch your dance partner, Kageyama.
He was taking a break and grabbing a drink since he was tired so you assume due wouldn't mind you hanging with the girls for a bit.
An hour passed quite quickly, and the party was coming to an end. It felt surreal, as if the whole year had passed within seconds. The DJ announced that he would wrap it up with a slow song, and to find your dance partners for a final dance.
Kageyama looked at you and you nodded, smiling gently and he made his way over to you. The song had already started but you knew it would last a solid 10 minutes so everyone could savour this.
"Hey." He said to you.
"Hey." You replied, placing your hands around the back of his neck. He put his around your waist.
"I don't think I told you that look you amazing tonight." We began moving to the beat, cooling down from the intense dance off we had earlier.
"Are you saying I don't look amazing all the time?" You joked.
"Of course not. But especially tonight." He told you and you smiled.
"Thanks Tobio. You look pretty dashing yourself." Him being he great dancer he is, and the great tsundere, he didn't want you to see him blush and so he spontaneously managed to spin you a couple times.
"Smooth, Tobio. But your ears are still bright red." You laughed. You pulled him in and kissed his cheek, somehow unphased and not at all flustered. You'd released almost all your energy and you didn't think you had it in you to get all shy and worked up.
The teachers finally thanked all the students and wrapped up the whole party but you weren't exactly ready to leave just yet.
To your delight, Kageyama asked to meet you on the roof and you agreed. The walk up there was quiet and you took off your heels when climbing on to the roof. You sat down, making sure your dress wouldn't get dirty and Kageyama sat next to you.
You were surprised no one else had come up to the roof. You looked up and smiled. The sky was clear and the stars were twinkling.
"Tobio, it's just like that time when toy got me Milk Boy Jr." You reminded.
He nodded. "That was the best birthday I'd ever had, thanks to you."
"I'm glad then." You said softly.
"Hey, (f/n)." He called and you looked over at him.
"Hm?"
You felt his lips against yours and your eyes widened. You were about to push him away but you knew he wasn't drunk this time. You stood there, frozen in shock and he pulled away slowly.
"I'm sorry for doing that without asking you first but I like you, (f/n). I really, really like you and I'm sorry for being a drunk idiot that time at the new years party because I wanted to be sober the first time I kissed you."
"Wait- you remember that?" You asked him, surprised.
"How could I forget kissing the girl I like?" Kageyama said with his eyebrows raised.
You didn't hesitate this time and pulled Kageyama into a kiss. He reacted quickly and pulled you closer. The kiss heated up but even you had to break apart for air.
"I like you too." You mumbled, your voice barely above a whisper. But Kageyama heard you loud and clear and a huge smile took over his face.
"I'm glad." He said, patting your head gently.
"What does this make us?" You questioned.
"Before we make anything official, let's just go on a date." He suggested and you nodded, and hen groaned. "What is it?"
"If this works out and we end up dating, my grandma will be saying 'I told you so' for the rest of our lives." You complained and Kageyama chuckled.
"Your grandma is iconic."
"Don't take her side!" You pouted but cracked a smile, resting your head on his shoulder. "Thanks for everything, Milk Boy."
"Anything for you, Choco Milk."
Kageyama Tobio, if its for you, I'll take all the bittersweetness you throw my way. Because you're worth it.
