School had reopened, and it had been weeks since you'd spoke to Kageyama. You still went to volleyball practice, just because you weren't on good terms with Kageyama didn't mean you'd abandon the team too. Those boys meant the world to you.

And so did Kageyama, but you were still sort of mad at him. It was one thing for him to claim you as his possession, but that wasn't what you were mad at.

You were mad that he tried to force you to stay away from Oikawa. He had no right to order you around like that as if he controls your life decisions.

Either way, you hadn't spoken to him in a long while, and you missed him to bits but you weren't about to admit that to anyone except for Yukio.

On the bright side, though, you got a lot of girl time with Yukio and she also told you about her guy drama which was pretty new to you.

Volleyball practice finished and Kageyama tried to apologise once again, you of course brushed him off easily.

You made your way to the library first to pick up a few books and you headed outside only to see the beginning of a scrap unfold before you.

This particular fight interested since Kageyama was cornered by Kenji's ex friends. You didn't want to barrel in without any context so you stayed hidden for a while.

"You dared to hurt our (f/n) and then go crawling back to her? You know that Kenji likes her you asshole! You should just back off and let them get together."

"I'm not stopping them." Kageyama responded. "Please don't misunderstand."

"Then stop lingering around our precious (f/n)." One threatened.

You thought now would be an appropriate time to show face since one of them had raised a hand to hit Kageyama. He lowered his hand when he laid eyes on you and you smirked. "Your precious (f/n)? Last time we spoke, I humiliated you guys for being shitty friends to Kenji. What are you doing now, backing him up?"

"We made up with him. We were wrong, we know that. So we're friends again, and we were just trying to help Kenji out-"

"By beating up his friend?" You snapped. "Tobio and Kenji are friends. All you're doing is stirring up trouble."

"I'm doing Kenji a favour." He shrugged.

"No, I'm doing Kenji a favour." You stated before punching the guy who had raised his hand against Kageyama, straight in the stomach.

"Bitch." You heard him mutter before swing a fist at you, which you caught easily and twisted his arm behind his back, before pushing him away.

"Who's next?" You dropped your bag on the ground next to Kageyama and he held your hand.

"You don't have to do this." He whispered.

You pulled your hand away from his grasp. "As if I'm doing this for you. This is for Kenji, you conceited asshole." You turned around to face the group of four boys, of which now only three were standing. A fist was swinging right at you and you managed to dodge, resulting in Kageyama taking the punch.

You narrowed your eyes. You might have insisted that this was for Kenji, but no one hurt any of your friends and got away with it.

Tobio is still my friend, despite everything. And no way in hell is this coward getting away with punching him.

"First you try gang attacking my friend, quite the cowardly move." You began, quickly getting through each of the trio's attacks and leaving them on the floor. "And then you end up losing the fight to me. Isn't that just embarrassing?" You sneered. You picked up your bag from next to Kageyama. "I'll be off then-"

"F/n-" You heard Kageyama's voice but it was cut short when you felt something like a blade slit across the side of your abdomen.

You hissed in pain but knocked the guy out clean with one hit. It was a pocket knife. They carried them around? What the hell.

"I'm leaving." You said and made to walk away when Kageyama held your hand, stopping you.

"Not this time you're not. Come with me." He ordered.

"What makes you think I'd listen?"

"We're friends, aren't we?" He asked, his voice desperate.

You sighed, giving in and letting him lead the way. You passed your house but kept walking, and in the end you reached Kageyama's house. Your yes widened. "I don't want your parents seeing me like this."

"They're not home, they're out of the country actually." He reassured.

"Why didn't you stay at my house?" You asked.

"You've been avoiding me like the plague, (f/n). I wasn't going to make you feel uncomfortable in your own house too."

You slumped your shoulders, feeling guilty that he'd stayed home alone because of you.

The cut wasn't too deep, luckily. But treating it was the awkward part. Kageyama insisted that you go to the hospital but you refused, saying you'd take care of it yourself. And then he declared that he'd treat it, and you protested but he wouldn't have it.

"You couldn't even bandage your sprained ankle, you think I'm going to let you look after a cut like this on your own? I know you sure as hell won't tell your grandma about this or you'll worry her. So let me."

You stopped fighting after that and let him figure out for himself why this was such a bad idea.

It was only when he brought the ointment and told you to show him the wound that his face turned bright red and he apologised profusely. You laughed at this and asked him to bring you a t-shirt to change into.

He did as you asked and he let you change into his t-shirt. You had your school shorts with you which you wore underneath your skirt at all times because the wind was an asshole sometimes.

You spotted Choco Milk, the cow plush identical to yours sitting on Kageyama's bed.

Does he sleep with this like I do?

"Hey, Choco Milk. Sorry I was kind of cold to Tobio." You had a ranting session with this plush too, even though it was cut short when Kageyama knocked on the door.

He came back into his room when you called and you lifted the shirt you were wearing just the slightest bit to see your wound clearly. Kageyama tended to your cut carefully, disinfecting it first and then placing a cotton pad over it, and wrapping a thin cloth around your waist to hold it in place. He was surprisingly gentle with you.

"Hey look-"

"(F/n) I'm-"

You both locked eyes and began laughing.

"I'm sorry, (f/n). I was such an asshole that day. I'd love to blame it on the alcohol and part of it was but, I have to admit that even if I was sober I still would be behaved badly back then. But I do regret it deeply and I won't be doing it again." He explained.

"I'm sorry too. For not even giving you a chance to say anything." You sighed. "I'll be more patient from now on."

"And I'll be less controlling." He added.

You smiled. "Deal."

His face mirrored yours. "Deal."

Maybe he wasn't so bittersweet after all.
