Ep: 30 Let's go for a walk✨
Opening the door to Emily's infirmary room, Y/n, Taehyung, and Jimin stepped inside with concern etched on their faces. Emily, propped up against pillows on her bed, turned to meet their gaze, giving a soft concern smile, they entered. On the other hand her eyes, though tired, lit up with a soft smile at the sight of her friends.
"How are you feeling now, Emily?" Y/n asked gently, settling into a chair beside her bed and placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. Taehyung and Jimin stood beside y/n, their worry palpable.
"Chill, guys, I'm fine." Emily reassured them warmly, her smile easing their concerns. "Just a little pain."
Y/n couldn't help but feel guilty, her eyes betraying her remorse. "You shouldn't have rushed to help me." she murmured softly, guilt weighing on her.
Emily shook her head gently, her voice soft but firm.
"How could I not come to save my one and only best friend when she's in danger? It's not your fault, Y/n. Please don't blame yourself."
Y/n nodded, softly smiling at Emily's words but unable to shake off the guilt entirely. She truly felt bad for Emily being in this state.
She stayed by Emily's side as they talked, the air filled with a mix of relief.
As the afternoon stretched on, Jimin and Taehyung took it upon themselves to fetch some lunch for everyone. Y/n remained with Emily, their conversation shifting from topics to topics.
After a while, Taehyung and Jimin returned with lunch. Time seemed to blur as they enjoyed their meal together, laughter being a part their discussions.
Eventually, Time passed, and soon Emily's personal driver arrived to take her home. Y/n, Taehyung, and Jimin walked Emily to the car, ensuring she was comfortable before they said their goodbyes. Since the rehearsal was called off for the day, they all drove back home.
...
At the shop
Y/n stood behind the counter at the flower shop, her hands arranging tulips into a bouquet while her thoughts drifted elsewhere. She had been preoccupied since she arrived, her mind, wandering through a maze of concerns and uncertainties.
Hana approached y/n quietly.
"Y/N, what are you doing?" Her gentle inquiry snapped her out of her reverie. Y/N looked down and realized she had been making a bouquet of tulips instead of the requested roses.
"Uhh! I'm sorry, eonni..." Y/n stammered, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment, as she hastily put the tulips aside.
Hana studied her with a concerned expression. "Y/N-ah, are you okay? You've seemed lost since you got here. Is something bothering you?"
Y/n hesitated, torn between confiding in Hana and keeping her worries to herself. "No, eonni, it's nothing. I am just tired a little bit." she replied quickly, attempting to brush off Hana's concerns.
But Hana wasn't easily convinced. She raised an eyebrow, her gaze steady. "Will you lie to your eonni, mmm?"
Y/n bit her lip, her eyes darting to the bouquet. "No... umm..."
"Tell me, Y/N." Hana encouraged gently, her voice a soft plea. "I'm here for you."
"It's nothing, eonni, trust me." Y/n insisted, though the strain in her voice betrayed her lack of conviction.
Hana sighed softly, realizing pushing further won't be good.
"Okay then, I won't push you." she said, her tone still caring. "But remember, I'm all ears if you need me, okay?"
Y/n nodded gratefully. "Yes, eonni... Surely, Thank you."
With that, they both returned to their work. It was Sunday, one of the busiest days at the shop. Customers were coming in and going in a steady stream, each with their own requests and stories.
-----Y/n's pov-----
Amidst the flurry of activity, the bell above the door jingled, signaling another arrival. My heart skipped a beat as I looked up and saw Taehyung walk in. Our eyes met briefly, but I quickly looked down, pretending to be engrossed in my work.
The soft hum of the flower shop seemed to fade as the memories of our last conversation flooded my mind. Despite my efforts to stay focused, my thoughts wandered back to the words she had said.
After a while, a light tap on the counter made me glance up. There he was, standing right in front of me, his presence both comforting and unsettling. "Still thinking about today's event?" he asked, his eyes searching mine
"Huh? Umm... no." I denied nonchalantly, hoping to convince him and myself.
"Hmmm, I see... Okay then, as you say." he replied, though his tone revealed his dissatisfaction. With a sigh, he walked over to where Grandma was arranging some flowers, her hands moving with the practiced ease of someone who had done this a thousand times before.
I tried to refocus on my work, reminding myself that there were only three more orders to complete.
Just as I began the first one, Taehyung approached the counter again, this time with a different kind of request.
"Let's go for a walk." he suggested, his voice gentle yet firm.
"Huh? Now? And why?" I asked, my eyebrows furrowing in confusion. The idea of leaving my work unfinished filled me with a sense of unease.
"Uhh! You ask too many questions. Let's go, a small break won't hurt. It will refresh you." he insisted, his eyes twinkling with a hint of mischief.
"Yeah, but not now. I need to finish my work-only three more orders." I argued, glancing at the partially completed bouquets in front of me.
"No need." Taehyung replied with a reassuring smile that made my heart skip a beat. "Grandma said you can take a leave now. Nuna will settle those orders. Now let's go."
"Eonni, won't she join us?" I questioned, feeling a pang of guilt at the thought of leaving all the work behind.
As soon as I spoke, Hana walked over, her expression gentle yet firm. "Someone has to be here. You should go and relax yourself. For some reason, you look drained today."
"I'm fine, really..." I tried to protest, but my voice trailed off.
Grandma approached, her wise eyes filled with concern. "Y/N, get yourself some rest. Don't push yourself too hard. I heard about today's incident so it's okay."
After a moment of convincing,
"Okay, as you all say." I finally conceded. I packed my things, bid goodbye to them and headed outside with Taehyung.
The moment we stepped outside, the fresh air hit me, a welcome change from the warm, floral-scented shop. We walked in silence for a few minutes, the sounds of the city bustling around us. The evening was windy, the cool breeze tousling our hair and filling our lungs with the crisp scent of impending rain.
"Y/N, you know you can talk to me, right? About anything." Taehyung said softly, breaking the silence. His voice was like a gentle voice, taking me out of the swirling thoughts in my mind.
"Umm... Yeah" I replied, diverting my gaze towards my feet as we walked. The pavement seemed endlessly fascinating, each crack and pebble a distraction from the turmoil in my heart.
Why can't I just follow her advice. Why I am feeling this way even after knowing the reason. My mind, roaming in all directions, debating and making possibilities about her advice.
Another long silence stretched between us, filled only by the rustling of leaves and the distant hum of traffic. Finally, giving in to my conscience, I mustered the courage to speak. "Taehyung." I called softly, my voice barely above a whisper. Yet, he was attentive enough to hear and respond immediately by giving a soft humm.
"Do you think what happened today was just a mere incident or a planned accident?" I asked, my words laced with uncertainty.
He paused, considering my question. "Umm... It might have been an unintended incident," he began slowly, "but my overthinking mind says it could have been intentional. Since the start, I observed that whenever you moved, the mirror would slightly wiggle, denoting that the screws might have been loosened. But why would someone do this?"
"I think I might know the answer." I said, taking a deep breath. "It's because I'm the princess and got the chance to play a major role with you in this skit."
"Huh? What?" Taehyung's confusion was evident.
"I heard some of the girls talking shit about me getting this role and how disgusted they feel about me being the main lead with you." I admitted, my voice trembling slightly. I didn't know why, but I found myself opening up to him about this incident, the weight of the secret lifting ever so slightly.
"That's so ridiculous, for them to talk and think like that." he said, showing his disgust at the thought of those girls' petty jealousy.
He was about to say more, but then he suddenly stopped, a thoughtful expression crossing his face.
"It might be Nana behind all this. I saw her today coming out of the prop room... but she was with the teacher."
I hummed in agreement. "I think so too, but we can't blame her without any proof."
"Yeah, yeah... Kind girl!" he teased.
"Yahhh!" I responded, a weak smile tugging at my lips despite the gravity of our conversation.
"Okay, okay, let's drop this topic. It's been eating up our minds, the whole day.
Wanna grab something to eat?" he suggested, his tone lightening.
"Yeah, sure." I agreed without protesting, and we walked towards the bakery.
The evening air grew chillier, as Taehyung and I walked towards the bakery. The sky overhead hinted at rain, a soft gray blanket stretching across the horizon, adding a sense of anticipation to the cool breeze that stirred the leaves around us.
"It might rain tonight." I mentioned, while he nodded. Feeling a shiver run through me as the wind cut through my thin T-shirt, raising goosebumps on my arms.
Just as I shivered, I felt a warm weight settle on my shoulders. Turning, I saw that it was Taehyung's jacket.
"It wasn't needed. Please take it, Taehyung."
I tried to protest, politely refusing the offer of his warmth, but he insisted in his warm, reassuring voice. "It is needed." he said softly. "I am wearing full sleeves, which is enough to keep me warm... but that's not the case for you, so please, keep it." He gently draped his coat over my shoulders, the lingering scent of his cologne enveloping me.
"Princess Valeria wouldn't wish to get cold, right?" he added a playful chuckle, his eyes twinkling with affection, making me chuckle as well.
As he turned to enter the bakery, leaving me standing there wrapped in his jacket, I couldn't help but watch him. The soft glow of the bakery lights cast a gentle halo around him, highlighting his kind demeanor and thoughtful gesture.
He paused at the bakery door, looking back with a smile that made my heart skip a beat. "Wanna come?" he asked, his voice carrying a hint of invitation.
"No, I'm good here." I replied softly, returning his smile with a small one of my own. "Okay then. Wait here, I'll be right back." he said with a reassuring nod before disappearing inside.
Left alone on the sidewalk, wrapped in his jacket. I found myself lost in contemplation. The wind continued to tug at the coat, pulling it tighter around me, while his lingering cologne wrapped me in a comforting embrace.
I felt an unexpected warmth spread through me, not just from the jacket but from the sincerity in his actions. His caring nature is a reassuring anchor in the whirlwind of my thoughts and emotions.
...
I was in thoughts when my eyes went inside the store. There I noticed a small boy with his mother standing beside Taehyung, was struggling to reach for a candy in his trolley. Taehyung, ever observant and kind-hearted, noticed too. With a warm smile, he bent down, playfully pinched the boy's cheeks, and handed him the candy, despite the mother's protests. Watching this act of kindness unfold, I couldn't help but smile to myself. He is truly an angel in human form.
"Angel!"
Taehyung had a way of making everything seem a little less daunting, his innate kindness reaching out to touch not just me, but everyone around him. His gesture with the boy was just another example of his genuine compassion, and it warmed my heart even more than the jacket draped around my shoulders.
For a moment, amidst the bustling city and the cold wind. The scent of his cologne lingered in the air, subtly wrapping me in a sense of security. Unconsciously, I found myself feeling safe in his presence, as if his kindness formed an invisible shield against the uncertainties of the world.
Feeling a blush rise to my cheeks at the tender memory, and the thoughtfulness in his gesture from earlier stirred something deeper within me.
Why am I feeling like this? Uhh??
Y/N, this is just a friendly gesture. I tapped my head lightly to refocus my mind. Crossing the street, I found solace on a bench under a canopy of rustling leaves. Closing my eyes, I let the soothing sensation of the evening breeze wash over me, caress my face and calming my mind and heart.
...
Unknown to me, someone quietly took a seat beside me. Opening my eyes, I turned to find Taehyung holding a pastry and a few candies in his hands, a gentle smile playing on his lips. The soft glow of the street lamp illuminated his features, casting a warm glow over his face.
"Hey." he greeted softly, offering me the treats. "I thought you might like something sweet."
I couldn't help but smile gratefully, touched by his thoughtfulness. "Thank you, Taehyung." I replied sincerely, accepting the pastry and a candy from his outstretched hand. The warmth of his presence beside me made the evening feel brighter, despite the gathering clouds above.
As we sat together, enjoying our desserts under the whispering leaves and the gentle hum of the city, I realized that sometimes, the simplest gestures could speak volumes. And in Taehyung's company, even the small moments felt extraordinary, filled with warmth and care.
...
After enjoying our desserts under the serene canopy of rustling leaves, Taehyung and I decided to stroll through the park.
After a few minutes of walking while having a lighter hearty conversation,
"It's late, we should head home." I remarked, breaking the comfortable silence that had settled between us.
"Yeah, It's late; I should walk you home." he offered kindly.
"Uhh... no need, I can go by myself. It's just a few minutes from here. Moreover you have already done a lot for me today" I replied softly. I said trying to convince him that he should also head home.
"I don't think so, since I enjoyed it too." He said while giving his charming soft smile and again continued,
"Okay then, as you wish but text me after reaching home." he said with a hint of concern in his voice.
Hearing this statement I felt an unknown flutter stirring in my stomach.
Nodding I replied, "Yeah Sure, you too."
Saying our goodbyes, we parted ways at the edge of the park.
Walking a few steps . And I turned only to see that Taehyung was still standing there, watching me with a gentle expression that sent a warm rush through my veins.
"Thank you Taehyung" I called softly across the distance, meeting his gaze with gratitude etched in my features. His presence had been a soothing balm to my troubled mind throughout the evening, and I couldn't help but feel a small smile tug at the corners of my lips.
"For what?" he asked, his eyes crinkling at the edges as he returned my smile.
"For knowing what I needed before I did." I replied honestly.
He grinned and thanked me in return. As I watched Taehyung's boxy smile light up his face in response to my gratitude, a rush of warmth swept through me, accompanied by an unexpected flutter in my chest.
Sometimes his words are difficult to make out. I tried to suppress the swell of feelings rising within-feelings that seemed to defy rational explanation.
With a final wave, I turned to walk towards my home.
Aissh why did I feel that way when he smiled!?
After parting ways with Taehyung, as I walked towards home with a mixture of emotions swirling inside me. The memory of our evening together lingered like a gentle breeze, comforting.
The sense of longing grew with each step away from him, a silent yearning for his presence beside me.
What is happening to me?? Why are my thoughts being like this??
...
---Time skip---
At night, Y/N's bedroom
-----Y/N's pov-----
The world is enveloped in a quiet slumber who seems to have almost been in the middle of their deep dreams.
I awoke to the sound of rain, It was raining, each drop, a delicate note on the windowpane, in the silence of the night. The room was bathed in a soft glow from the night lamp.
I lay there, my senses awakening to the rain outside. Staring at the ceiling,
with the soft rhythm of the tapping of raindrops on the window, feeling the weight of the silence pressing down on me again.
My mind, being an echo chamber, replaying the words that refuse to let me sleep. Each phrase loops again and again, growing louder with every repetition. Their whispers curling around my thoughts, refusing to dissipate.
There are questions I cannot answer, fears I cannot face, and hopes I dare not admit. The ceiling becomes a canvas for my thoughts, a vast expanse where I try to find my answers in solitude.
I can feel the weight of them pressing on my chest, my inner turmoil.
Flashback
I was packing her things when she called me over. Hearing her voice, I turned back and took a seat beside her full of concern. Her hand reached for mine, her grip gentle but firm. Making me worry more for her.
"Y/N, I know you feel guilty seeing me like this." she began softly, her eyes full of understanding. "But believe me, you don't need to be."
She then continued
" When I heard Taehyung scream your name and saw what was going to happen, how could I not run towards you to save you, Y/N?
Thank God Taehyung noticed it in time... Otherwise, who knows what might have happened.
She paused, her eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that made me uneasy.
"I'm just relieved that you're not in my condition. You're the main role player in the skit, after all. If something had happened to you, you would have lost that role, and all your hard work would have been for nothing. Moreover..."
She paused, her expression growing more serious, her eyes searching mine.
But her next words puzzled me...
"You should make some distance from Taehyung."
