Chapter 9 - The broken perfume.
"Serena, what are you exactly carrying with you?" I questioned suspiciously as she carried many potions in a handbag, which was close to ripping off completely.ย
"You'll.." she kept her breath in, struggling to carry the heavy bag, and finally let the bag hit the ground and let her breath out. "See," she re- carried the bag. I was puzzled, all this sweating for what?
I gave her a finished look; she noticed my thirst for answers. "Fine, I'll tell you; don't give me that bitchy look" she spoke.ย
"Alright then, spit it out"
With a flick of her wand, she opened the door letting us both step into her cozy home. She placed the almost - ripped bag onto the table, with a few bottles of various potions slipping out. She took a seat relieved.
"So almost all of these except for one are all failed tests." She stated.
"Failed tests for what?"
"Well.." she hesitantly came to a halt. "I've been attempting to make this potion...and.. it'll help you..when the time comes.."
I continued listening to her with full attention, my torso facing her. The more she explained, the more I realized how much thought she had put into this. The more my heart melted.
Serena was just so pure.
"Oh, Serena!" I cried out. "You didn't have to do this."
"I just wanted to help" she smiled and we shared a hug. A meaningful, loving hug.
"Oh, and by the way, I must warn you. You wanna start thinking of a plan to break into the ministry and kill him fast. He's taking a trip to New York in two months."
"What?" Shocked, I replied.
"Don't stress it, I've worked in that department. I know the way around." She assured me and started scrambling through the different colored potions, picking up a small crystal-like blue potion.
"It's this one, the one that works"
I started thinking of a plan, like pieces of puzzles coming together but the puzzle was not complete.
Yet.
"Can it be sprayed?"
"Well, it has to touch your skin."

At home, I carefully opened the small potion poured it gently into my least used perfumes then mixed it together.
After a bit, I placed the perfume on a shelf, besides a few books tucked together. Making sure it wouldn't be noticeable to the eye.

Over the next few weeks, using my free time. I started watching Barty Crouch Senior. I started learning about his whereabouts and his true identity.
It was suspiciously normal.
He'd wake up around Six and have breakfast with his son in a particular Cafe. Go to work, have lunch, come back and sleep.
Although, I wasn't particularly sure about what exactly he did at work outside work he only seemed to be close with his son.
His son.
His son.
It was hard to listen to their conversations, without coming off as a stalker or catching their eye.

"How is it coming along?" Tom took a seat beside me on the healthy green grass and in the shadow of the tree beside me.
"Like usual."
"Oh, would you like some help?" He offered.
"No Tom, you've helped me enough but that doesn't matter, have you figured out what the necklace Narcissa gave me means?" pushing aside my thoughts I questioned him about something totally random.
"Not really, why something weird happened?"
"No...it's just that ever since you told me about the necklace it has just always stuck with me."
"Perhaps, I'm wrong."

I opened the door to my room and entering in, I spotted Draco examining the shelf where the perfume was placed.
Oh,ย God.
He picked up the small bottle sniffing it.
And my worst nightmare stoodย in front of me.
He was about to spray the perfume on himself. No, no, no, no, I wasn't gonna let this happen.
I rushed as fast as I could, holding my breath. I reached to him pushing him as hard as I could, making him drop the perfume bottle onto the dark-colored couch.
The perfume was demolished into pieces, the glass crashed to the floor spreading into harmful pieces and the substance ruined the couch.
Since I had pushed him so hard, my feet had crashed with his, making us lose balance and fall to the same couch.
He wasn't looking, at where he was about to put his hand.
But I was, I placed my hand onto the chilly blue substance seconds before his cold hand met mine.
There was silence among us for a few mini seconds.
"If you really wanted to get that close, could've asked me." He broke the utter silence, placing his gaze on mine.
It's now I come to two realizations. One I'm practically on top of Draco, and second,ย why did nothing happen to me even after I touched the perfume which had the deadly potion combined in it?
I was thrown out of my thoughts after Draco placed his finger beneath my chin with his free hand raising it, deliberately bringing my attention back to him.
"Why are you always so lost, as though there's something always going on in your mind?"
I didn't know how to respond to any of his questions.
"Erm...the perfume is expired."
"So I guess that's why you pushed me onto the couch?"
"Shut up.." Still puzzled, I get up knowing the substance is still on me, on my hand yet there is nothing happening?

Pushing all of my thoughts aside, I decided it was best to sleep it through and ask Serena tomorrow about this discovery.
I lined up the cushions on the middle of the bed between the two pillows as Draco entered the room with his white towel covering his face as he dried the wet spots away.
"I thought-" he removed the towel and glared at the cushions.
"You thought just caus' it happened one night, it'll happen every night" I finished his sentence.
He responded to me with an annoyed eye roll.
"It won't happen again, Draco."
"Yes it will" he replied with enthusiasm in his voice.
"No, it won't" I spat, with ambition in mine.
"Watch it happen, darling." He spoke in a flirtatious tone with a faint smirk while maintaining our prolonged eye - contact.
I couldn't help it.
I looked away,
flustered.
