Chapter 48- The symbolization of an Emmet.
"Serena, I have to tell you..erm..something...erm.." I failed to connect my words together to inform her about Mattheo.
"What is it, Emerlyn?" Serena motioned herself towards me, the anxiety increasingly piling up inside me. Either Serena could take it lightly, or this would have a horrific conclusion.
"Emerlyn, you have a tongue," Serena repeated herself. "Speak."
"..I actually forgot what I was going to say..."
Why did I have to be dragged into the middle of all of this?
"Alright then, we're keeping secrets from our best friend to now."
"No, I genuinely forgot."
Perhaps, not now.

"It's been... a while hasn't it?" Tom inquired, sitting in front of me, while the two of us were placed on Serena's bed.
"Yea...I wanted to apologize for how I just left without informing anyone about anything after I got stabbed.."
"We're talking about Emerlyn, it's not a surprise."
Before I could reply, Serena interrupted who was sitting beside me.
"Oh yea, how's the wound now?"
"It's healing but it's very slow...and still aches.."
"Emerlyn, why didn't you tell me before." Serena walked towards a decorated desk filled with many unused potions. "I have a perfect solution for you."
"Don't. Please." Tom begged.
"No, I've already tested it!"

Serena's created potion tasted extremely acrid. Even one sip left a resentful aftertaste. It was bitter but I noticed a physical change.
To confirm it, I touched the exact spot where the wound was.
There was no affliction. I had healed fully. "Serena, you need to open a shop!" I replied astonished.
Serena's lips transformed into a smile, flattered by the indirect compliment, whilst Tom raised his brows.
"No way, it actually worked." Tom brushed his fingers against the same spot I had.
With no reaction from me, he too was surprised. "Last time, my nose began bleeding."
"Because you were my first experiment!" She defended herself with laughs filling the room.
After the laughter came to an end, I remembered Narcissa's words.
The necklace.
This would be the best time to question Tom about this necklace, he worked in this department, researching and collecting ancient and valuable items for the Wizarding World.
I began speaking to him about everything that Narcissa had told me, along with my formed opinions. He listened thoroughly and reached for the gleaming necklace resting flatly above my chest.
He turned it around, and there was a symbol. An Emmet.
(See image above)
"This Emmet was the reason why I knew something was suspicious about this necklace." Tom began. "This artifact that you're wearing Emerlyn is a neglected piece of history."
A sense of fear conflicted with my heart.
"There's not a lot of information, but all I know is back when the Wizarding World hadn't been established, wizards and witches were being horrifically murdered by muggles."
"Henceforth, the wizards created a necklace and put such dangerous spells to it, that it protected them from harm."
Which explained why I wasn't harmed by Serena's potion, Narcissa's poison, and why that spider turned away from me.
I sat up straight startled by the fresh information.
"This is why it has an Emmet at the back, it represents hard work, the hard work those wizards and witches put into creating necklaces like these..."
"Continue.."
"I'm afraid if we dive deeper into this topic, we'll find ourselves in a deep dark ocean."

The moon glimmered brightly in the twilight, everyone was present with me but the person I had begun to crave wasn't.
I found myself yearning for Draco. Anything to see him. Anything.
His beaming voice.
His appealing eyes.
The emotion I'd feel as his cold hands would search my body--
"Emerlyn, you've spilled the tea!" A distraught Serena warned.
My thoughts about my husband came to an end, as I realized there was a pool of tea underneath my tea cup.
She noticed my heartsick aura. "What's wrong, why so lost today?"
"I'm not lost..." I began wiping the axis tea away. "I'm just missing Draco.."
Serena raised her brows in surprise. "Oh, you weren't joking?"
It took me a second to realize what she was on about. "No, I'm still joking right now," I answered sarcastically.
"Do you remember those days where you'd go on about how you were gonna divorce him!" Serena exclaimed and the quiet atmosphere was filled with her ironic laughs.
The truth was my heart had begun to ache.
Physically.
I wanted to go back home.
"I'm going to pretend like I never heard that."
"On a serious note, I'm truly happy you've found someone worthy of your love," Serena spoke. "Or else, I had no hope for you after that failed relationship of yours.."
With being reminded of Axel, I was also reminded of Mattheo.
I felt my words collapse together unable to form separately but obligated to speak about this topic.
No. Not yet.

The lights were switched.
There was one noise.
Serena's light snores.
However, there was just one thought in my mind.
Draco. Draco. Draco. Draco.
Aaaargh! It was almost frustrating to think of the same person repeatedly.
He hadn't even responded to my letter.

DRACOS'S POINT OF VIEW.
"Nope, not right now" A tipsy Theodore snatched the letter away from Draco.
"It's my--"
"I'm not blind" he placed the sealed letter on another table. "Spend some time with your friends too!"
"Theo is right, it feels empty without you now." Blaise expressed his concern. "Besides, after years, all of us have been reunited and you're over here obsessing over your wife"
"Actually, it's not her fault...it's just the case has been consuming most of my time.."
Draco walked towards the letter that was calling to him but Theodore once again blocked his way with a satisfied grin pinned on his face.
"Emerlyn works with you right?" Mattheo on the other hand questioned.
Draco's eyes devilishly stuck on to Theodore's attempt many times to attain the letter with nothing but a'mhm..' slipping out his mouth in response to Mattheo.
"How long did you both date for?" He continued with his inquiry.
"3...years.." Draco replied. "Give me that fucking letter, Theo!"
"Oi, Mattheo, quit being nosy, this man didn't tell any of us about his secret relationship with Emerlyn, until the day the two got married!" Blaise chimed in.
Draco was not paying attention to his made-up story about his wife.
However, Mattheo was.
"What's worse is, he didn't even bother inviting his friends to his ceremony, which friend does that!"
That caught Draco's attention.
He came to a halt. "It was a private ceremony, there were only my parents and her..friend.."
"Friend.." muttered Mattheo under his breath.
"Well then, you need to have another ceremony with us invited!" Blaise urged.
"Forget about that, he's too busy solving a case..."
This case wasn't the case of the Red-Cloaked Killer.
A/N: Guess whose birthday is in the next chapter. =)
Hint: she's a Riddle.
