Chapter 2 - The deal.

April 24.ย

Almost a month had gone by, and there was still no wedding. I had interacted with Draco a lot more, and surprisingly enough he was a little more...friendly. Not the friendliest, but ever since I had supposedly saved his life he was a lot more sincere and caring. I had also come to a realization, that another person; Pansy Parkinson, from my workplace had something for Draco. In fact, they once dated as students but quickly separated.

ย Draco had moved on or at least it looked as though he did, but Pansy did not.ย

Whatever it was, I couldn't care less. I didn't care if Draco liked Pansy, I just wanted to get married, reluctantly, I had decided to listen to Tom's words and be patient. I had learned Draco's work habits, his personality...(erm..sorta) and etc.ย

Nonetheless, today was going to be a nerve-wracking but an exciting day. The plan I and Tom had been discussing would be put into action today, in a few hours. I sat frozen on the chair, in my small office. Patiently, waiting for Tom to knock on the door.ย

DRACO'S POINT OF VIEW.

I was walking through the busy streets of London, going back home from a boring day at work. Even though, I could've simply apparated or used a portkey. I decided, today I'd walk through the streets and catch some fresh air.ย

While walking, I sensed someone tapping my shoulder. I turned around and in front of me stood a lanky, tall man. He had dark midnight hair and dirt brown eyes.ย ย

"Can I help you somehow?"

"Will you make a deal with me?" the man spoke in a honeyed tone, I was bewildered by his words, after all, he was just a stranger.

"What do you want?" I directly confronted him, I was hungry and tired. I wanted to get home.

"You work in the magical law enforcement department right, as an Auror, right?"ย

"Erm, yea?"

"And you despise, not even despise but loathe the head chief minister, who's also your boss right?" he spoke in such a tone, that it scared me. It scared me, how did he know so much? I was flabbergasted.ย

"You creep, how do you know that much information about me?" I ventured.

"I can help you, I'll help you get that chief off his position, not that but you'll be the one in the chief's position; only if you do what I want you to do." he avoided my question, rather everything I was saying. Even though he was a stranger, I was fascinated to know what this 'deal' would be.

"Okay fine just say it already, I don't have all day" I wasn't serious about this, whatever it would be, would be the end of this conversation.

"Marry Emerlyn."

"Were you dropped on your head!" I exclaimed with my jaw on the floor.

"Think about it, if you marry her, you won't ever have to deal with the chief, in fact, you won't even have to face him ever again"

It was true, I had hated him more than anything, I wasn't sure what it was, or what the reason was but he never treated me fair in any way, but I wouldn't go so far as to marry some girl I'd barely even known.

"Still no" I was adamant about this decision. "Besides, you're just...some stranger, I don't even know you, how can I trust you!"

To that, the man let out a lopsided smirk. We stood in an empty abandoned park, and he placed his arm towards me. I knew what it exactly meant, a vow. If it wasn't to be completed the person would be killed. Why was he doing this? I questioned myself. Why are people so mental and out of their minds?

"Look, we're going to make a vow and you think about it yourself; why would I go out of my way, to make such a vow which could potentially get me killed," he remarked confidently, even though he was a stranger. I had to comment, he knew what he was doing.ย

"Sure, let's say I agree to this marriage, but what about Emerlyn; I mean what if she doesn't agree?"

"Don't you worry about that, that's on my end."

Now that, all the questions were clear and I and this stranger had offered to do a vow. I started to think of the light to this situation. A simple marriage wouldn't hurt anyone right? I could easily convince my parents to do this, and best of all, my boss would be kicked out of his position.ย

And, I could always divorce after I marry her.ย

I nodded slightly in agreement and cautiously made the vow,ย simultaneouslyย agreeing to marry Emerlyn. I was suspicious, but the vow being completed ensured me everything would be fine. It's crazy, how could I say everything was gonna be fine? when I had just agreed to get married at twenty- four.

However, it was my gut instinct telling me all of this.ย

EMERLYN'S POINT OF VIEW.

At last, I heard a knock and I knew it was Tom. He always seemed to knock roughly as though he was in a rush. I quickly stood up and ran to the door; unlocking the lock. I was right, he stood there with a proud smile.ย

"So, what happened?" I quickly questioned without even bothering to greet him.

"Will you let me inside, at least?"

"Oh...sure" I let him step in steadily.

He explained everything to me, and for the first time, I was delighted and exotic from hearing the news. I had just gotten a step closer to my plan.

The sun had set, the stars were exposed, and the moon glistered through the dark sky. I was laying silently on my bed struggling to fall asleep. I had always struggled to fall asleep even as a child. I stared at the blank white ceiling until I sensed something from the corner of my eyes.ย

It was a spider crawling on the wooden floor. I shrieked and immediately jumped gasping, rushing from my room as quickly as I could. I hurried to Serena's room and began banging on the door.ย

"Open the fucking door!" I banged harder.

Serena groaned and got out of bed, and opened the hard door. Her light brown hair was tied up in a low ponytail and she looked as though she had just woken up.

"I know, it's just....I.." I stumbled to get my words across. "You know I hate spiders-"

"And you saw one?"

I nodded.

"Oh my god, you're an Auror, and you're scared of...spiders?"

"Everyone has fears" I was still not ready to go back to my room, and clearly wasn't going to go back until the morning. "I was wondering if I could sleep in your...room for tonight."

"Sure I guess," she moved a bit and gave me space to let me step into the room.ย

"Thanks again" I thanked, her as I made myself comfortable on one side of the bed, while she rested on the other.ย

"No problem" she responded intending to fall asleep.

God knows how many hours had gone by, but It was just me waking up and falling asleep again and again. Mainly, because I had been thinking too much about the spider. What if it made its way to Serena's room?ย

I could see the sun was going to rise in a few minutes and looked over and beside me was Serena, awake. "You're..awake?" I questioned.

"Yea, just...woke up right now" she replied, in a tired tone and let out a yawn. "How about you?"

"I dunno, I've lost track of time."ย

"Mmm...I see, caus' of the spider?"

"No, sometimes I just can't fall asleep."

It was the next day, and asย  I got ready to head off to work. I kept imagining the possible conversations I could have with Draco. It was going to be awkward but I had to get through it. I still was processing the fact he had actually agreed to marry, he really did loathe his boss that much.ย

"Malfoy, will you stop wearing so much cologne and- why is your hair like that, I mean it looks a bit...unusual..." complained the boss. Draco did not seem amused and stayed silent, I felt bad for him. I didn't know what it was but the boss clearly wasn't fond of him at all.

I knew the boss getting kicked out of his position would do me no benefit, but deep down I wanted him fired from this position. It wasn't just Draco that was being tormented, but the majority of the people working for him.

I sat beside him quietly, it was lunch. I gulped, I didn't know why but I was nervous, my fingers were sweaty and my throat felt dry. "Erm, hi.." I greeted immediately regretting what I did.

"I'm guessing you agreed." he went straight to the point.ย

"Yea, I did. If marrying you is beneficial for me, then I'll do it."ย

"Oh..." he looked over. "I'm curious to know, what deal you made out of this?"

Murder.

"I'd like to keep that personal."

It was weird, this was weird. This felt more like a business deal, rather than a marriage. Then again, this wasn't a marriage. To me, this was just a part of a plan; a plan to get closer to the culprits and end them. I felt lost,ย  doubt-filled me completely; I wasn't sure if this was the right path. Whatever it was,

there was no turning back now.

A/N: what do you think is gonna happen?ย
