"Enough playing around, it's time to suffer now," I stated before my opponent was taken away by the many guards of Azkaban. I had just finished a battle with one of the most recent robbers of London. 

Not only was he good at robbing, but an expert in Dark Arts.

Therefore, it became a tough battle, even though I had won; my head had been severely injured and my eyesight had slightly, noticeably been blurred. My body was weak and shaky and I honestly don't think I was going to stay conscious for long. 

Being an Auror, you were always warned of this. My job included the possibility of losing your life to battles even tougher than these. Whatever it was, I loved my job; I loved justice.

I was aware of the fact I was completely driven by justice. Ready to take it into my hands, and that is exactly why I was a killer. 

"Oh my goodness Emerlyn, you need urgent help!" another male Auror sat beside me, placing their arms around my broad shoulders as a way of comfort and assurance. I hadn't realized but the blood from the injury on my head had dripped down to the sides of my head, continuously bleeding until droplets of my blood landed on the ground beneath me. 

I wasn't sure what was going on around me as my vision continued to blur, many voices surrounded me, and even my hearing had blurred. Until I heard a familiar voice. 

Draco.

I knew he was beside me, I couldn't see properly but I could sense and feel his aura. 

With his hand on mine, I knew I was safe.

There was an aching amount of pain stabbing onto me, specifically on my head. I gained my normal vision and placed my hand on my forehead rubbing the paining part carefully. Until I felt a bandage. 

"Are you alright now?" Draco questioned, who was also present along with a nurse.

"I'm okay.." I wasn't really okay.

"If you consider that being okay, you must be lying." spoke the nurse. "Rest for some time, and I'll be bringing the reports in a bit" on that note, she left. 

I studied the room, I was in Saint Mungos. (Hospital) I was quite familiar with these rooms and so was many other Aurors among me. 

Unexpectedly, Draco pulled me into a hug, his hands on my upper back. I was left insanely puzzled, never shown this type of affection by him. I wasn't quite sure what to do or to word it better I didn't know how to respond to that type of affection. 

He kissed the top of my head. 

"Draco..erm, you alright?"

He pulled away gently. "You know for a second I thought I might have lost you, and I've come to terms now even the thought of losing you from my life is scary" 

I felt the rollercoasters of my feelings in me rush together as I gazed at him.

"Come on, even you have been in my position; don't you remember when there were many serial killers on the loose together and one of them had almost killed you." I tried to remind him of the past, maybe to cheer him up a bit and get rid of this depressing mood in the room.

He recollected his memory and nodded.

"And then a couple of months ago, before we solved Raven's case she had almost killed me with her bizarre attacks."

"Well, that was the past, I didn't care as much about you as I do now.." he stopped himself. I didn't make this awkward so I carried the conversation. 

"Well as an Auror there's always a high chance of being injured or even killed."

"You're right, I just can't lose you..ever"

My God, why were these words so comforting?

Draco had gone to the local cafeteria of the hospital to bring both of us some food.

I was resting on my bed, half-asleep until my earring started vibrating.

MINI FLASHBACK

"Press on any of the earrings for around three seconds and.." he revealed that he was wearing a ring similar to the design the earrings had. "We'll be able to talk, and only I and you will be able to hear other, anytime. Use it when you're alone..or feel unsafe" he finished. 

From the void state of sleeping, I was quickly disturbed. I rubbed the right earring several times before I heard a voice.

"Hello, can you hear me?" Spoke Tom.

"Yea, but we might wanna quicken the conversation, Draco is going to return any second."

"Just go silent when he comes."

We talked for a few minutes, exchanging questions and answers and it was now I realized how awesome this way of communication was. It was fast and there were no letters needed.

Just then, I heard footsteps towards the room and Draco walked in. Immediately silence fell among us.

He placed supper before me and started eating himself.  I took a few bites as well and we spoke for a bit and Tom was aware Draco was present with us.

"Alright, I have one more question, is it alright if I and Serena pay you a visit later?"

I felt as though my heart had dropped to my stomach, had Draco heard me? In a fit of shock; I looked over and everything was normal as though he had never heard us.

"Oh, by the way, no one can hear me besides you. For your response cough for yes and clear your throat for no."

I took a breath of relief.

I wasn't sure, it depended on Draco. If he was staying or not.

"Draco, are you staying here the night or not?" I questioned him.

"Do you want me to?"

God, why couldn't he just give me a straight answer?

"Uhm..up to you," I answered if I said no he would become suspicious.

"You lunatic, you could've taken the chance and said no," said Tom, I wanted to roll my eyes in annoyance but didn't.

"Well..I mean really you're going to be uncomfortable for the night, and I can handle myself on my own" before Draco could speak I spoke for him.

"Well then, I'll be leaving in a bit then."

"That's more like it," replied Tom.

"You know the weird thing about the potion you created was when I touched it, it never harmed me!" I was in a serious conversation with Serena right now, and Tom was listening.

"I dunno..." Serena was just as conflicted as I was.

"Did you perhaps accidentally give her one of your fails?" interrupted Tom.

"No, I know for a fact that was the one, I even tested it!"

"Then why didn't it harm me?"

"You shouldn't be worrying about that right now Emerlyn, Barty is leaving soon and the condition you're in..."

"Condition I'm in?"

"What he means is, since you freshly injured your head and it'll take you perhaps two weeks to recover and be discharged from the hospital. You won't be able to kill Barty because he'll leave by then!" Serena stole Tom's words.

"So what, if I injured my head?"

The pieces of the puzzle had been combined together.

The puzzle was complete.

And the day Barty would die wasn't far.
