Chapter Two

I woke up in a bunk bed, feeling tired and knowing how I got here. I yawned and looked around, trying to figure out how I got in this room. Or this place, just then I heard some arguing. I jumped out of my bed and looked at the center of the room. It was a big guy and a small woman, the girls number was Β 067. She was hot the big guys number was 101. He grabbed her by the collar

"We meet again don't we?" I walked up to him and pushed the guy off of her, what's wrong with these people?

"You don't hit girls" Just then a guy who's number was 456 came running into the crowd and grabbed 067's arm and slapped her

"You're the pickpocket who stole my money!" The mumbling in the crowd grew, what is wrong with these people?! What is this place?? A mad house? Just then number 101's attention grew to number 456, when number 456 noticed. He started to run around in circles

"Help!" He yelled trying to avoid number 101,Β he was calling out for help from someone he didn't even know.

"He's going to attack me! Heβ€”" Just then a buzzing noise came from somewhere in the room that made everyone shut up. As the doors opened, armed men. In pink jumpsuits, with... boots? A bit of relief washed over me thinking that they were here to stop the fight.

But they weren't

The room falls silent, so silent you could here a pin drop. The people looked exactly like what uncle described, the one with the circle mask steps up closer to the crowed. Then he speaks up

"I would like to extend a heart filled welcome to you all." His voice was scary, non-human. Something is off, like really off. No emotion at all, cold and heartless. Like Lee.. all the memories of Lee and me replayed in my mind. Β I know Lee is here, god. It's been so long

"Everyone here will have to participate in six games, over the course of six days. Whoever wins all six games will get a handsome cash prize." I raised an eyebrow, this was all very sketchy. Where the hell was uncle?

"How are we supposed to trust you?" I turned around to see the speaker, it was number 456. I think he was trying to say that this was all too good to be true

"You put us to sleep and take us to this strange place, and take away all our contact to the outside world. Now you're saying that if we play some 'games' you'll give us a cash prize??" There had to be some catch of us winning the money, I already knew though. My father died here, my mission was to win this game and find Lee. Even if I die trying

"We reluctantly took those measures to maintain our confidentiality bringing you here. We shall return everything once the games are over

"What about our confidentiality?" I found myself saying, the room was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. I took a second look at the circle guard, I felt like he was peering through my soul

"You wear those masks, yet we have to be identified by our numbers?" My voice was dominating the whole room, all eyes was on me.

"What's going on here? Don't we at least have the right to know?"

"We are not allowed to disclose the faces of our staff to the players" The triangle mask guard speaks up

"Although your identities are kept hidden from the other players. You may not disclose your name unless you choose to. These are measures we take for the fairness and privacy of the game" There was something they wasn't telling us, although there was some answers. Some things still didn't make sense

"I don't trust a word you said" the room grew into silence,Β straight up silence. I turned towards the speaker, my heart dropped when I seen him. It was Sang-Woo..

"You lured us, kidnapped us and locked us up from the outside world. And most of all you made excuses for not revealing your identities. All of those are illegal actions, give us one reason why she should trust you!" It was a like Jesus was in front of me, a ghost.. but attention turned to the red guard in the jumpsuit. The one with the circle mask clicks a remote that has been in his hands the whole time

"Player 218, Cho Sang-Woo. Age 39" I glanced at the TV screen as my eyes widened, Sang-Woo was playing theΒ Ddakji in the same train station. My mouth dropped in surprise, we know them. All the people in this room were chosen for the same reason, because of debt. We were hunted down like dogs

"Former team leader of Team Two of Investments. Siphoned money from his clients, then invested in derivates and future options with it failed. Current loss, 650 million won." I watched as Sang-Woo's face sink in shame,Β Ddakji tiles were being flipped and tossed. People getting slapped, etc. I was grateful that they didn't show my face on the screen

"All of you in this room came here for a reason, because you are living on the edge. With debts you can't pay off, when we first seen you. None of you trusted us but as you know, we played a game and gave you money as promised. So everyone here trusted us and volunteered to participate in this game of your own free will" He was right, this was our only chance.

"I'll give you one last chance to choose. Will you go back to living your lousy life of being chased by your creditors? Or shall you grab the last chance we're giving you here?" I felt my legs go wobbly all of a sudden. I couldn't feel my feet, my vision grew blurry.

"What kind of games will we be playing?" A voice from the crowd said

"In order to keep the games fair, we cannot disclose any information on the games ahead of time" Fair,Β that word sent chills down my spine.

"Just how much prize money are we getting?" The guard clicks on the remote in his hand, then a large piggy bank. Comes from the roof, it was a glass piggy bank. Though empty I could already imagine the amount of money I was going to win

"Your prize money will be accumulated in the piggy bank after every game. We will disclose the amount to everyone after the first game is over" I heard a sneer come from the crowd, this was a usual tactic used to lure people and make them think they're getting money.

"If you do not wish to participate in the games, please let us know now."

β€” β€” β€”

As if it was magic everyone in the room lined up in front of the guards, who was in front of the room. As soon as everyone got to the signing area there was only three lines, once it was my turn Β I would make sure to read the paper carefully. There was none with shaky hands I sighed the paper. Backing out of this would be saying I was giving up on finding Lee. Like uncle told me we was let out into a maze full of amazing colors, I wanted to pull out my phone and take a picture. Till I realized that they took that once I came here, after all the corridors we was finally let outside into a large field. I walked over towards Cho Sang-Woo who's as standing behind the rest of the players

"Long time no see?" He glanced towards me as I seen his eyes widen

"Y/N, is it really you??" I nodded and gave my charming smile

"What the hell happened to you?" He was about to answer my question when number 456 walked towards us

"Sang-Woo, it's you!" I turned around to see Gi-Hun, god has it been this long? I hadn't expected to see them in a place like this

"Yeah.." Sang-Woo didn't look too happy to see Gi-Hun

"I hadn't expected to see you like this!" I bit my lip and glanced at Sang-Woo, who's eyes was looking at the sand on the ground

"What did you do? Why are you here?? I visited your mom recently, she says your on a business trip" Gi-Hun did not understand social cues, he was that one friend who would keep on talking and talking and won't ever shut the hell up

"Gi-Hun, now is NOT the time" I said glaring, I felt second hand embarrassment. Suddenly the woman on the loud speaker came on

"Welcome to the first game" It greeter like the guards did in the beginning "All players most wait a moment on the field" Everyone complied spreading out as I continued to look around, there was a red line that we was instructed to not cross, Sang-Woo didn't look at me nor Gi-Hun he pretended to look at something else. Other than us

"Let's talk later" I heard the embarrassment in his voice as he walked away, I turned around and glared at Gi-Hun

"Not cool dude, not cool" I saw as Sang-Woo was trying to find a spot far away from us on the field

"What the hell was that about" Just then the woman on the loud speaker came on again

"The first game is called Red light, Green Light. You can only move when it says 'green light' and you have to stop when it says 'red light' if your movement is detected you are eliminated from the game" I frowned

"Red light green light? Like the one we played as kids??" I whispered to Gi-Hun who obviously wasn't paying attention to me

"Those who cross the field without getting caught within 5 minutes will pass this round" I wasn't sure about all of this, my stomach turned. As Gi-Hun walked away onto the other side of the field. I was left there all alone. The robot sings a song, it was my mother's favorite song.Β

"Green light" The robot's head turned as two kids was running across the field, they was surely gonna die first

"Red light" The robot creepily turned its head around facing the crowd and the two kids, the blonde kid ahead of the rest of the people it's eyes land on him

"Player 324, eliminated." There was a pause and silence, I bit my lip knowing what would happen next. There was a gun shot and I seen player 324 eliminated.

"Green light" His friend the guy with the red hair went up to him

"Dude, stop pretending" I heard him say, number 324 spat up blood. As soon as he realized his friend was dead, he tried to run

"Number 72 eliminated" He got shot in his back, my breathing became heavy. I was panicking on the inside, not knowing what to do

~Meanwhile~

"Who is your bet on?" I said while smoking a joint, the VIPS were here today. They usually come every Friday/Thursday, but today they came on a Monday.

"Number 34, his name is Y/N" my body shivered as I heard that name, I dropped the blunt in my hand

"D-Did you say Y/N...?" I bit my lip as soon as I said the name

"Yes? Something wrong??" Was it my Y/N?? No, it's just a coincidence. Right?

"Like just look at him go!" My eyes turned towards the screen as I seen Y/N, he had the same exact features as my Y/N. No, my mind is so stupid. It can't be Y/N he probably forgot about me at this point but when I looked closer I realized that he had the same exact necklace I gave Y/N my mind replayed to when I was younger and when I had to leave the shelter with my foster parents, that day was the day that made me cry. I couldn't even eat

"All just a coincidence Lee... all just a coincidence" I said thinking out loud, I was really trying to get myself to believe that lie. It wasn't a coincidence

"Are you alright Lee?" I nodded trying not to throw up right then and there

"I-I'm fine.."

Y/N's POV:

"Green light!" I jumped across the field as I crossed the finish line, I looked back and seen that Gi-Hun and Sang-Woo made it across. I smiled knowing that they didn't die

"You made it!" I ran up to Sang-Woo and hugged him from behind

"Look at the love couple!" Gi-Hun said, I felt my cheeks go red s bit as I let go

"That was a long time ago.." I said in a low voiceΒ

"Ahem uh yeah.." I noticed the old man sitting there on the ground

"Are you alright uncle?" I helped him up as he groaned

"I'm fine young man, thank you" I smiled as I let go of his hand, I felt as if someone was watching me. This mission was gonna a be a lot hardier than I thought
