Matthew's hand slid along the railing as he causally strolled down the grand staircase. The familar tune of Man about the house grew louder whilst he neared the parlour. It was the early hours of the morning when Matthew and Sidney had arrived at the boarding house. To find it dead to the world much like the rest of the town. It hadn't taken Sidney long to find his uncle Damon's private collection. Much to Matthew's amusement.
Niether Damon nor Stefan had any idea what they were in for, nor were they prepared for their devious nephew. Matthew's lips twisted in a small smile, eyes shining slightly, his son had already made himself at home. He entered the parlour to see Sidney sat in one of the armchairs, with his legs thrown over one of the arms.
"Morning, dad." The blonde Salvatore's eyes flickered to him, smiling lightly.
"Sid." Matthew drifted to the table behind the sofa. From the chair, Sid watched as his father poured himself a drink. He half-narrowed his eyes, mently crossing his fingers before he opened his lips "Dad." Matthew humed in response "If there was, hypothetically, a race track in town." Matthew placed the bottle down, picked up his glass and looked at his son "Could...I...Y'know..." he smiled sheepishly.
Matthew blinked slowly, debating about as Sid watched him hopefully. He supposed as long as Sidney stayed out of Klaus' way, he'd leave his son to his own devices. Sidney wasn't stupid, nor was he looking a fight "I suppose you can."
"Yes!" Sidney cried beaming, taking his legs of the chair, jumping to his feet.
"However," Sidney froze, looking in his father's direction curious. Matthew had one brow raised, a serious glint in his eye as he gave his child a stern look "Keep out of Klaus' way. He and Stefan are at war with one another. Damon too. I don't want you involved."
"Ok. I'll do that." Sidney beamed, he raised his brows, eyes shining "I give you my word."
Matthew smiled at his son. Bring his glass to his lips. Amusement swirling in his eyes. Sid was quick to forget that he was carless. However he didn't know that there was an army load of cars in the garage.
"Where the hell have you been!" A male's voice screeched. The blonde and ravenette Salvatores turned their heads to the doorway to find a enraged Damon, glaring and pointing at Matthew angerily. Matthew merely looked at his brother, unfazed as Sidney stared at his uncle curiously. Damon clocked the blonde after a second, swinging his finger to him "Who's he?!"
Sidney raised his brows at his uncle as his father rolled his eyes. It was typical of Damon to forget. Afterall, he was the only one of the three brothers that knew about Sidney. Matthew had sent him pictures of his nephew, as he had sent birthday, Christmas and general gifts to Sidney, over the years "Damon," Matthew glared lightly "you remmber the letters I sent you."
Damon dropped his finger, brows scrunching together. Thinking. He looked between the men infront of him. Noting the similarities. His brows flew to his hairline "Sidney?"
"Uncle Damon." Sid grinned.
The middle Salvatore brother blinked, it sounded odd but nice to be called 'Uncle Damon'. He threw a puzzled look at his brother, he'd been waiting 172 years to formally meet his nephew. So, he wondered. Why had Matthew brought Sid to Mystic Falls now?
________________
After finally meeting his nephew, Damon explained to the duo what had happened in Matthew's absense. And to say Matthew wasn't angry was an understatement. Sidney was quite surpised at how unhinged his uncle Stefan sounded. However, he was aware that he was in unemotional ripper mode. Maybe his uncle wasn't too boring.
"Now all of them are undaggered." Damon finished "I was beginning to consider hightailing it, and looking for you."
"Yes, well," Matthew drew out, from his seat on the left arm of the sofa "I had to pick up this little mischief-maker." Sidney scrowled lightly, much to his uncle's amusement.
"You could have told me." Damon cried "I had to walk into a dinner party with two originals, with our impulsive little brother! I was bloody terrified. And did I mention Rebekah went after Elena last night?"
Sidney narrowed his eyes, wondering who 'Elena' was, and why she was so important. He looked at his father. Matthew had told him about the originals a long time ago. He knew better than to get on their bad side.
"No, you didn't." Matthew sighed, he didn't really like or hate Elena, but he could clearly see how similar she was to Katherine. And well, in his opinion, if he had to have a conversation with one of them, he'd rather converse with Katherine "Anyway, one can't blame Rebekah for going after Elena. She did quite literally stab her in the back."
Sidney raised his brows, from the sounds of it, this Elena wasn't every bright to cross an original. Damon frowned at his brother, slightly annoyed with his defense "Y'know it's sometimes annoying when you do that."
"Do what?"
"Play the barrister."
"I'm merely using the alternative view point." Matthew defended himself.
"You and Will Garrow were always thick as thieves, back in the day." Damon reminded "He's the influence behind this behavour."
Sidney observed as his father smirked cockily "You've never liked that his sister liked me better, than you."
"Calliope didn't like you," Damon reported "she fancied you. From the beginning." He turned to his nephew, pointing a finger to his brother as he spoke as if he were divulging a big secret "You know it took him three long months to ask your mother out on a date." He looked back to Matthew "The countless times I encouraged you, only for you to back out of it."
"Confidence comes with practise, little brother." Sidney chuckled as Damon scrowled. Yes, Sidney rather liked his uncle Damon. In fact, Damon was quickly becoming his favourite living uncle.
________________
During the course of the morning, three 'major' events occured. Firstly; Stefan discovered that he had a nephew, and this very nephew had been under his nose for the last hundred years - much to his surpise. Secondly; Stefan was scolded and told off for his rash behavour by Matthew - much to Damon and Sidney's amusement and enjoyment. Thirdly; the four Salvatores learned that it was the Original Mother: Esther who was inside the locked coffin. And that she was very much alive.
The four Salvatores were in the Gilbert household. Sidney was confused. Like his father he didn't see the reason to go up against Klaus, even if it was for Katherine's doppleganger. You'd be signing your own death warrant.
"How is she even alive?" Damon questioned "I thought her hybrid freak show of a son ripped her heart a thousand years ago."
"She's pobably got a couple of friends in the witch community." Sidney muttered from beside his raven haired uncle "You know them lot, stick together, and glower down upon the rest of us." Damon humed in agreement.
"Elijah said that she wants to live in peace with her family, including Klaus." Elena informed.
"She was supposed to be the weapon to kill Klaus." Stefan complained, as Sidney looked at his father curiously.
"Well, not anymore. At least, not according to Elijah." Elena sighed.
"That coffin was the only thing stopping Klaus from ripping us to shreds."
"You." Sidney reminded "You dragged uncle Damon and your friends into this, you've fucked you over. Me and dad have got nothing to do with this, uncle Stefan."
Stefan scrowled at his nephew, as Damon sighed, not bothering to argue because he was right "Does anyone else feel a little used right now?"
"Look, Elijah promised me that his family wouldn't hurt any of us." Elena said. Sidney and Matthew shared a look. Soon enough, Elena received an invition.
"Who the hell are the Mikaelsons?" Stefan frowned.
"The Original Family." Matthew drawled.
"It's not bad enough they're moving into town. Now they want a housewarming gift?" Damon remarked with raised brows.
"There's something on the back. 'Elena, I think it's time we finally meet. - Esther.'" Elena furrowed her brows, looking between the four vampires. Who were quite divided on opinion "If Esther wants to talk to me, maybe I should find out why."
"Well, that's a dumb idea. She already tried to kill you once." Damon reminded.
"No, Elena's right." Stefan agreed "Bonnie was led to open that coffin for a reason. I think there's more to this than just some family reunion."
Sidney glanced at his father. He knew that his uncles had fought over Katherine in 1864, now he could see them doing the same with Elena, clear as day.
"Can we go back in time to the old Stefan who cared if Elena lived or died?" Damon reported. Matthew sighed, rolling his eyes.
"What for?" Stefan bit back "That's your job now."
"Stefan has a point, Damon." Elena agreed, hardly noticing Sidney's narrowed eyes "I should find out what she wants."
"You can't protect yourself." He argued.
"Okay, fine. Then I'll go."
"Enough!" Stefan and Damon froze at their brother's growl, slowly looking towards him as their nephew eyebballed Elena. Who seemed slightly disappointed the attention was on her. His uncles' to be precise. Sidney's brows narrowed darkly "You've both pissed off enough originals, we don't any of you pissing off the entire fucking family. I'll go."

The Mikaelson Ball came around quite quickly. Two originals stood on the staircase observing their guests. The Salvatore family caught quite a lot of attention when they arrived. The two sibling watched curiously as Stefan went to step forward, only to back down with his head bowed. Matthew glared at his littlest brother, it hardly surpised him that his brothers came anyway.
"Behave." He growled with a glare "All of you."
Two others of the Mikaelson siblings approached the two stood on the stairs, watching the Salvatores who were led in by a tall ravenette, before they all broke up to seperate corners of the room.
"I never thought Damon and Stefan Salvatore, obeyed anyone." Elijah noted, he glanced at his dirty blonde brother "I thought they only had one brother."
"From what I know of." Klaus said, keeping his gaze on the eldest Salvatore "You should be thankful. With him back, those two should hopeful stay in line."
"He looks even more stuck up than you, 'Lijah." Kol remarked, making Klaus raise his brows and Rebekah roll her eyes. They were similar yes.
"Who is the blonde then?" Elijah wondered aloud.

Sidney watched bitterly as his uncles escorted Elena into the ball. He was quickly growing to dislike her. He didn't like that she was stringing Damon and Stefan along, and that she was hurting his father by doing so.
"Don't tell me, you like her?" A voice piped up.
He turned his head to meet the dark eyes of a brunette, he narrowed his eyes before throwing a disgust glance to Elena "Her? No. I just hate what she's doing."
The man shifted his gaze to the trio, he humed "Yes, stringing two brothers along. It's not really nice is it."
"No." The blonde agreed, glancing round for his father before meeting the gaze of the curious man beside him.
"I don't believe we've met," he stuck out his hand, smirking "Kol Mikaelson."
Sidney protrayed no emotion, merely smiling gracefully, accepting his hand "Sidney Salvatore, but most people call me Sid."
Kol humed again. The duo slipped into a nice conversation. Matthew strolled around, observing the guests before he lifted his gaze meeting blue eyes. Rebekah blinked, watching as Matthew approached her, never breaking eye-contact.
"Professer Salvatore," she greeted him curledly, making him smirk slightly "quite the entrance you made earlier."
He chuckled, blinking as he stared down at the female original "I suspect you Mikaelsons are far better at making an entrance."
"Your so sure, Mr Salvatore?" She challenged with a humored expression.
"Hm."
"If everyone could please gather."
Rebekah smiled slyly "Excuse me."
Matthew's amused smile never left, as she strutted away from him. He chuckled before turning.

Matthew stood with his son in the crowd as the Mikaelsons looked over them all on the staircase. Matthew glanced over at Sidney, unaware of the eyes on them, he narrowed his eyes at his brothers to see them whispering to each other. The originals - expect mostly Elijah - watched as the duo approached Stefan and Damon. The group held a heated exchange.
Rebekah watched Matthew from the stairs, the waltz was beginning and she was tempted to ask him for a dance. She and Sidney both observed as he blocked Elena's way to the stairs. A disappointment tugged at Rebekah's chest.
"Move, Matthew." Elena glared.
"Or what?" He chellgened "You'll run and cry wolf to my brothers? You really think that will work?"
"I'll tell Klaus-"
"You'll tell him what?" Matthew growled inching forward.
"That..." she stuttered, willing herself not to back down "you wish to kill me. How do you think Klaus will like that?"
Matthew chuckled "Go ahead."
"Elena." She turned to find Damon, she glanced back at Matthew, brows furrowed "Why do you care wether Klaus lives or dies?"
"I care," he growled "about the consequences of his death. An Original has never been killed. We have no idea what would happen if one did." He glared at her and his brother before stalking away. He met Rebekah's eye. Sidney was flaming. Elena was stringing his uncles along. And now she had threatened his father.
Rebekah met Matthew at the end of the stairs. He managed a smile, offering his hand "Dance with me? Ms Mikaelson"
"With pleasure," she smiled, placing her hand in his large one, his cold fingers rapped around her warm flesh giving her chills "Mr Salvatore."
________________
Rebekah stared up at Matthew, who still had a scrowl on his face as they danced, she narrowed her brows "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." He smiled lightly "Just my brothers being a pain. Nothing odd there."
Rebekah stared at him with sorrow, she had experienced her own brothers fighting over a doppelganger. She knew of the Salvatores' dealings with Katherine. The idea that that slut had pawed at Matthew really ruffed her feathers. She shook that thought away. The point was; she, Kol and Finn had only had to experience a doppelganger toying with their brothers once, Matthew was having his second.
She smiled lightly, choosing to lift the mood "So, who is the fourth Salvatore?"
He chuckled, a shine glinting in his eyes "You've spotted the little mischief-maker, then."
"Yes." She stared curiously "Who is he?"
"Sid is my son." Matthew revealed, making her face fall into a shocked expression "Sidney Salvatore, to be exact."
"I wasn't aware you had a son." She admitted "None of were."
"The scroundrel has managed to keep the puplic eye away from his true name, over the years. " He smiled widely "No-one but Damon knew about his existence."
"How come?" She questioned curiously.
"It just happened. I and Sid kept to ourselves, as I tried to keep the dangers of the world away from him. For a time."
"It must have been nice," she assumed, a little jealous of his parent-hood "knowing you'd one day be a father."
"I didn't even know, until he was four." Matthew admitted "Until that fateful year, after Katherine."
"And his mother?" She questioned curiously.
"Died of influenza, 18th of September, 1864."
"I'm so sorry."
"It's in the past now," he reasured "but she still lives on, in Sidney and in memory and her brother."
"He has another uncle?"
"Hm," he smiled "you may have heard of him. William Garrow."
________________
Elijah stared after Elena, she'd told him that he had nothing to worry about. His mother was not ploting against them.
"You don't believe her, either."
The noble original turned, meeting the gaze of man resembling Damon Salvatore greatly. He narrowed his eyes as the ravenette swaggered up to him confidently. He'd seen his sister with him "I'm Elijah, you're Matthew I assume."
"Hm," the taller vampire, stood before the original, holding his gaze "I apologise for the grievances my brothers have caused for you, and your family."
Elijah blinked, surpise protrayed it's self on his face, he narrowed his brows, stepping closer "You're not declaring war, like Damon and Stefan?"
Matthew bit back a sarcastic smile "I am well aware your family are not one to mess with. My brothers can take care of themselves, somewhat."
"Out of curiosity, Matthew." Elijah licked his lips "I-" A crash reached their ears, Matthew spun around, both of them looking in the direction it had come from.
________________
"Damon! Are you crazy!" Stefan bellowed as the middle Salvatore brother fought with Kol "Stop!"
The originals, Salvatores, Caroline and Elena ran out of the mansion to the sight.
"Damon stop it!" Elena cried out.
"ENOUGH!" Matthew bellowed.
Damon spun around, glaring at his brother, opening his mouth.
"Be quiet!" Matthew ordered, glowering enraged, the originals, Elena and Caroline were beginning to understand why Damon and Stefan were afarid of their brother. Matthew was terrifying "Both of you. What I tell you?! You were suppose to behave," he growled, Stefan closed his mouth "Go home, I'll deal with you there." The two brothers barely moved "Now!"
Relcently Damon and Stefan sped away. Matthew turned, glaring at Elena "You'll ruin them, if you carry on. Say what you will to Klaus, if you continue to string my brothers along. I will kill every you've ever met, and I'll have your head, no matter the consequences." He sped away into the darkness.
Sidney stormed forward, going towards his father's car, knowing that Matthew would not wish him to be present for his uncles' scolding. Not that he wanted to witness it anyway. He growled, turning around glaring at Elena "He's right, you know. You will ruin them," tears gathered in Elena's eyes as Caroline gripped her hand, the others merely watched, sympathising with the youngst Salvatore "just like Katherine. You lying, manipulative, doppleganger cunt!" Fire raged in his eyes "Do you have any idea how much it pains him to see this, happening all over again!"
"What is your problem?" Caroline shouted.
"I was just a young child, when I met my dad for the first time. My mother dead, and a father I hardly knew took me in. " Sidney kept his glare on Elena as he seethed "You have your friends, my uncles, but I only have him." Rebekah stared at him sadly, feeling her heart break for him "So damn me to Hell, threaten my father I dare you. I'll kill everyone in this godforsaken town."
