Matthew released a sigh through his mouth as he entered the kitchen. He was exhausted. From being dragged across the country by Damon and Katherine, and from being up and about twenty-four hours. He disregarded his books from the library on the table before heading for the fridge.

"Who might you be?" A feminine voice reached his ears as his hand almost reached the handle.

He turned, eyes landing on a blonde woman peering at him cautiously, with the faintest spark of curiosity swirling in her blue orbs. He tilted his head, gaze racked her form up and down for a millisecond before fixing it's self on her face. He stepped forward, pulling out a card and offered it to her.

She took it, keeping his gaze before examining it. He watched intensely as her brows furrowed. She was beautiful, he'd give her that. And had a British accent, much like himself. He retracted his previous steps. He took a bottle of wine from the fridge "Fancy a drink?"

She looked up, taking in the sight as he placed two glasses on the table. She nodded "Professor Salvatore, chemistry scientist." She watched as he poured the wine into the glasses before grasping one of them. Handing it to her, fingers brushing as the glass slipped into her grasp "Which Salvatore would that be?" She took a sip.

"Matthew." He shifted his weight "Who might you be?"

"I'm Rebekah." The blonde smirked sweetly "Pleasure, I'm sure."

"Your Klaus' sister, aren't you?" He breathed.

"Hm,"

He narrowed his eyes at her, titling his head "Why stay here? You're an Original, shouldn't you be with Klaus? He is your brother afterall."

"He left me here."

Matthew chuckled making her throw him a glare. He picked up his glass, glancing at the blonde "I see. I'd choose the mistress' room if I were you. It's the biggest in the house, and the warmest." He gathered his books, turning and held her gaze "Enjoy your stay, Rebekah."

She narrowed her eyes "Professor Salvatore, I didn't think there'd be a gentleman amongst those dogs you call brothers."

Matthew chuckled, not saying a word as he left. The original turned watching him go curiously. She turned her gaze to the bottle of wine he'd left. She narrowed her eyes, intrigued.

"Welcome back, seniors." Alaric greeted, taking a piece of chalk in his hand and wrote the title of the new topic "Let's turn our brains back on, starting with this country's original founders...the Native Americans."

"What about the Vikings?"

Elena, Caroline and Bonnie's eyes widened slightly as Stefan bowed his head, wanting the original there as much as they did. Alaric's mouth hung open. Rebekah took a seat, smiling innocently.

"There's no evidence that Vikings explorers actually settled in the United States." Alaric's brows scrunched up "Who are you?"

"My name's Rebekah." The blonde smiled "I'm new. And history's my favourite subject."

Alaric glanced at his teenaged friends before carrying on with his lesson. Perhaps last term was quieter compared to the one that was just beginning. He wondered just how more hectic could their lives get with two originals, hybrids and the third Salvatore - whom only two individuals knew about.

Matthew re-read his work for the third time. To make certain he was content with the results. He smiled before getting to his feet, gathering his books from the library and his finished manuscript. He made his way to the exit of the library, returned his books before going to his car.

He went to the local publishers and got his manuscript published. After doing so, returned to Mystic Falls.

"Sounds like you have an opening on the squad." Rebekah smirked at the blonde vampire before her.

Caroline scoffed in disbelief "What are you doing?" The original ignored her question with sly grin, beginning to stretch "Hey, hey. You can't just come here and infiltrate all our lives."

The older vampire paused in her movements, facing the younger vampire "I'm only interested in yours. Your spank, your popularity." She listed, before throwing a glance at the hybrid boy her brother had sired, just to rub Caroline up the wrong way "Maybe even your boyfriend."

Rebekah smirked as Caroline glared. Watching as she glanced at Tyler before walking towards him, leaving the original on her own, knowing that she'd won that round. She crossed her arms, smirking happily. She shifted her gaze to see Stefan tormenting Elena. She moved her eyes to the school to spot the oldest Salvatore lurking on the outskirts, eyeing his brother.

She tilted her head, observing as he seemed to catch her gaze, like he felt her watching. He smiled slightly before she darted her gaze away. Only to look back to find him gone. She frowned.

"I will lure Stefan away from the bonfire. Then when he's distracted-"

"I'll shoot him." Alaric interrupted.

Damon frowned, eyebrows titling upwards "Can't Bonnie just ju-ju him or something?" He questioned.

"I'm trying to keep Bonnie out of this. I don't trust Stefan won't hurt her." Damon frowned as Elena turned to the blonde "Caroline, are you covered?"

"Yes." Caroline gave a nod "I will make sure that the old Forbes jail cell is prepped and ready."

"We're forgetting a key player here." Damon informed "Rebekah. Wherever Stefan goes, blondie tends to follow."

Elena turned "Which is why it's your job to keep her away."

"How?" He furrowed his brows at them all "She's an Original. Last time I checked, we're out of daggers."

"So then preoccupy her with your charm."

"Might have better luck finding the dagger." Alaric muttered under his breath making the Salvatore glare lightly "Are you ever not going to be mad at me for a day?"

"Doubtful."

"Are you sure we'll be able to get the old Stefan back?" Caroline questioned "I mean he's obviously not going to listen to any of us."

"Leave that to me." Damon smirked cockly.

"Sorry I'm late." All attention drifted to Tyler, as he entered. Eyes running over each one of them curiously "What's going on?"

"We need you to raid your mom's vervain supply." Elena said folding her arms, standing confidently "Enough to keep Stefan down for a while."

"You can't do that to Stefan." Tyler shook his head. Damon narrowed his eyes, looking at the hybrid as Elena and Caroline propped him with questions "Uh-oh."

"What?" Alaric glanced at the Salvatore.

"Klaus made me who I am, Caroline. I owe him everything."

"Oh, boy."

Caroline threw Damon a glare "Okay, can we cool it on the commentary, please."

"What's going on?" Elena furrowed her brows confused.

Tyler glanced around them cautiously before slowly backing out of the classroom "I'm just going to g-"

Caroline screamed when a pair of hands snapped her boyfriend's neck. She rushed to him, falling on her knees beside Tyler.

"He's been sired." The newcomer noted.

Alaric furrowed his brows, looking at the newcomer puzzled "What? Who are you?"

"Matthew, Damon and Stefan's brother." Matthew drawled "Sired. He feels a loyalty to Klaus, because Klaus' blood created him."

"Loyal how?"

"He seeks acceptance from his master." Matthew glanced over them all "It's rare," he glanced at Tyler "but maybe not with hybrids."

Caroline looked up at the Salvatore "So how do I fix him?"

"Get a new boyfriend." Damon chimed.

Rebekah sighed tempestuously as she entered the room she was staying in. The bonfire hadn't been as fun as she'd hoped. She took off her shoes, turning her head at the sound of wood crackling.

She gasped lightly at the fireplace radiating warmth into the room. She frowned before looking towards the door.

"Great work tonight, Ric. Sorry about the car, man." Rebekah heard Damon say as she sneaked down the stairs "Bummer." She watched as Elena and Alaric left, after the Saltzman threw a scolding glare at the vampire.

"That's-" Matthew drew out like one would a puff of smoke from a cigarette, closing the door "-not how you get back in a individual's good books, Damon."

"He'll come around."

Matthew humed "Your sake I hope he does."

Damon furrowed his brows at his brows before leaving the house. Matthew sighed at his brother's behaviour, catching Rebekah's gaze. He leant back, half sitting on the small table behind him, hands in pockets "Sometimes, I believe my brothers were born to be a pain in my arse."

Rebekah chuckled, stepping down from the last step, cocking an eyebrow upwards "What like you were born to be a gentleman?"

He snorted "No, like you were born to have blonde hair." He tilted his head, blinking once, glancing between the original and the floor. His eyes fixed on her eyes "And those blue eyes."

Rebekah chuckled before asking "You're the one who lit the fire in my room."

"Hm," he stood up right, walking towards her, stopping directly in front of her, making Rebekah tilt her head back to look at him "Sleep well. Rebekah."

He stepped past her, going up the stairs. She turned and stopped him "Thank you."

Matthew turned, keeping her gaze for a minute before sending a smile. Before turned around and going to his room, Rebekah's watchful eyes following him.
