The truth is she doesn't regret it for a second because if she never went into medicine she would've never met the Winchesters. 

Sam Winchester is distraught after Dean goes into a coma. He's distraught about everything honestly; the demons, their plans, their father, life in general. He didn't expect some random chick to come in and say she can speak to ghosts and that 'ghost' is his brother. He didn't think she'd stick around, everyone who stays in his life suffers. But their paths keep crossing, and she keeps appearing in his life, and maybe just maybe... he's really starting to like it.
