"Hey! Dad! What are you doing up there?"

"No, don't cry dad."

"Why are you walking closer to the edge, daddy?"

"Please get down! You're scaring me!"

The young boy witnessed his own father jump.

Everything felt numb. Lifeless. Emotionless. Empty.

The muffled sound of ambulances were heard getting louder by each second that passed.

That day was an unforgettable day. The day that changed everything. Without realizing Jimin was at his father's funeral. No one was there but Jimin and his older brother. Jimin's mother passed away a year before causing his father to develop bad habits including drug use and alcohol. Thankfully, he was never abused by his father but there were a few times when his father was drunk and came to Jimin and began shaking him violently. Crying and asking why his beautiful wife's life was ended. Why the doctors couldn't save her.

Why he couldn't bring her back to life.

The two brothers stood there and cried on one another's shoulder not caring how cold it was. It was the middle of winter January 4th. The boys were going to be in their grandparents custody in a few moments and wanted to say their final goodbyes to their deceased father before leaving.

Two elders approached the young boys and hugged them tightly.

"It's time to go. Time to forget and start a new life." Their grandmother said squeezing the boys arm's gently. The two boys looked at eachother before nodding. The two boys followed their grandparents into a vehicle where the two brothers held hands not wanting to leave the other.

Jimin's older brother leaned closer to jimin and looked him in the eye. "What ever happens, I'll find you, okay? You can always look for me. I'll be there when you really need me." He gives Jimin a halfhearted smile before doing something he almost instantly regrets. He gives Jimin's tiny hand a light squeeze before opening the car door closest to him and jumping out rolling on the groung skillfully as he lands. Jimin watches in despair as his older brother's figure shrinks as the car continues to drive away.

Jimin continuously cries and tells his grandparents trying to convince them to go back, but they ignore him and keep driving. "Yoongi.." Jimin let's out between sniffles.

Jimin arrives at his grandparents home and jumps out of the car still wiping his tears away. He doesn't have any luggage to take inside because he is really poor and doesn't own much. He drags himself into the house and plops down doing nothing.

Jimin starts middle school a few weeks later and is known as'The quiet kid'. He spent most of his free time sulking somewhere outside or watching other kids as they played without him. Never once was he invited to play.

Not until one day...

Jimin was walking home from school like any other day and almost fell backwards as an unfamiliar figure stood before him. The boy had messy black hair, sparkling eyes, and a boxy smile. He grinned at the older boy and giggled to himslef. Jimin felt self conscious because of this and began growing nervous.

"What's so funny?" He asked. His voice almost a whisper.

"Nothing! Just...you!" The unfamiliar boy erupted in a giggling fit. Jimin just frowned at what the younger said and furrowed his brows together. The younger boy noticed his soft, innocent, hurt expression and immediately his mood changed. He began apologizing to the elder boy bowing slightly.

"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to upset you! I just thought you had a funny face! Chubby cheeks and tiny hands." These words weren't exactly comforting but Jimin still managed to stop crying.

"It's okay. I just...I-I got  nervous so I started crying. I wasn't all that upset with what you said."

"Good 'cause now I wanna play but my friends aren't here!" The boy jumped up excitedly and spits on his hand sticking it out towards Jimin who examined it disgusted. "Taehyung. Kim taehyung! Pleased to meet you, sir!" Taehyung bowed and stretched his hand out even further.

"Why did you spit on your hand?" Jimin asked. The energetic boy looking up from bis current bowing position. "So we can make a promise. .....one that means we'll stay together forever." He flashes him a boxy grin.

Jimin too smiles at this. The thought of something permanent. Something that lasts forever. Someone that lasts forever. Jimin spatin his hand and out stretched it as well.

"Likewise my fine sir."
