Civilians: Dumplings, get your dumplings here! Very nice today. Hey, I got dumplings for sale, ya! Over here!

Athena: Aw MK you still have Angie's necklace so cute.

MK: Yeah she my girlfriend dah!

Lorise: Uh guys a little help? (People were about to attack Lorise but Mei took her hand and the duo ran off) Thanks babe!

Mei: No problem honey!

Aims: I'm right here geez.

MK: Whoa, I'm in the past! Which means... (He slaps his pile of junk on the counter before the Store Owner.) One ancient souvenir, please.

Store Owner: (Inspecting the junk.) These aren't chickens. And what are these? (Pointing at MK.) Demonic accessories!

(Guards approach. Mei grabs MK and they escape into an alley.)

Azure Lion: You made it in safely! Great! Athena, Angel, Aims, Lorise, Mei, MK, welcome to 7th Century Chang'an. I trust you've experienced astral projection before?

MK: Yep.

Mei: No. Is this what dying is like?

Athena: Nah.

Lorise: Nope.

Aims: Sorry but no we never.

Angel: Nope. But it's cool

Azure Lion: A little astral projection never hurt anyone. Listen, I don't have much time. Remember how I told you the scroll has a protective curse?

MK: And that it'll try to find and destroy us. Uh-huh, yeah. Wasn't really gonna forget that part.

Azure Lion: Good. Try not to draw too much attention to yourself. The curse will be drawn to any imperfections it detects within its stories. So, for starters, we need to do something about those. (He indicates to their clothes.)

Mei + Athena + Angel + Aims + Lorise: (Squealing.) New outfits?

Azure Lion: You betcha. I found some duds your size over in that trash pile. (He gestures to a section in the alley.) Finding your friends won't be easy, but— Oh, come on! (He blocks MK, who has begun to change.) At least let me turn around first! (Mei cannonballs into the pile.) If your bonds of friendship are as strong as you say, you will always find your way back to one another.

(MK and Mei walk through the city in their new clothes. MK puts away Azure Lion's instructions.)

MK: Alright, find our friends, defeat the curse, and get back to the good old-fashioned story of the week. But where to start?

Mei: You're a big brain boy when it comes to legend stuff. Got any idea what chapter of the Journey to the West we're in?

MK: Uh, I kinda just skip to the parts with Monkey King in them, but it's fine! Every-Everything will be fine.

Guard 1: Did you hear? Emperor's cousin, what's his name?

Guard 2: Uh, Táng Sānzàng.

Guard 1: Yeah, that's the one. He's been sent west to find some ancient texts or something.

Guard 2: He's not gonna last two days out in the wilderness.

MK: Táng... Táng is Tang! Tang is Táng!

Mei: Our Táng's name is Tang! (They race into the forest.)

MK: To the forest!

Mei: LE'GO!

(Time passes as they look for Tang Sanzang.)

Mei: MK, look! (She points to Tang Sanzang with two demons in front.)

MK: It's Mr. Tang! Hey, Mr. Tang! Wow, nice gold jangly stick. You gonna use it to beat these guys up?

Village Demon 1: Oi. Stay out of this, human boy!

Village Demon 2: Ain't nothin' getting between us and this delicious monk meat. (They drop Tang and meat into their pot.)

Mei: Monk meat? Do they mean Tang meat? (MK makes a disgusted face.)

Tang Sanzang: Violence is never the answer. If it is here I am destined to meet my demise, I shall do so with dignity.

MK and Mei: What?! (They attack the demons.) Here comes Monkie Kids! (The demons run away with their pot.)

Mei: Yeah, you better run, you fools!

MK: Tang! Oh, thank the Great Sage you're all right! Why didn't you fight those guys? I mean, they were weaklings. Even you could have taken them. Am I right?

Tang Sanzang: Young ones, although I appreciate your... assistance, I wish you would have settled the matter without violence.

MK: Uh, that was a... a weird way to say thank you.

Tang Sanzang: Your outward actions reflect your inner state. You two are filled with torment, aggression, and hyperactivity. May you meditate that you can reflect on your past actions and find inner peace. Many blessings. I must be off.

MK: Uh, Tang, it's us. MK and Mei, the lovable lil' scamps. Ya friends!

Tang Sanzang: Friends? No. All earthly connections must be put aside in order to unburden one's spirit. Many blessings. I must be off.

MK: Uh. He just slam us for having friends?

Mei: Where does he get off?! "Hyperactive." I'll show him hyperactive!

MK: Wait, Mei! (He taps into his Gold Vision.) It looks like Tang is trapped inside the body of Great Monk Táng Sānzàng.

Mei: Tang's past life guy?

MK: Well, that's unconfirmed, but yeah.

Mei: What?! Well, then, how are we gonna wake him up?

MK: I don't know! Uh, grab him! (They leap at him but are attacked by another man.)

Athena: HA!

Liu Boqin: Oh, no, you don't! Get away from the Monk, demon spawn! Oh, you're just children so you're like regular spawn. My apology, O wise Monk. Oh, perhaps you'd like to lodge at my home for the evening to get away from those, you know, fiends.

MK: We'd love to.

Mei: MK, what are you doing?

MK: Go with me for a moment. What if to wake up Tang, we gotta let this story play out? If we help finish whatever business the monk needs doing, then we'll get back our Tang!

Mei: MK, that is genius!

MK: And you won't even know we're there.

Mei + Lorise: Shotgun the big bed! (They dashes off.)

MK: Shotgun the big bed— Aw, nah, you both got it, you both got it.

Athena: Boo I want big bed.

Ange + Aims: Same

(Tang Sanzang sighs.)

(They reach his house, where his wife opens the door.)

Liu Boqin: May I introduce my wife, Jing.

Jing: Hello, O wise Monk. (Gritting her teeth.) And six children I didn't know were coming.

(She serves them food, which Tang Sanzang gags at. Athena, Lorise, Aims MK and Mei happily gobble away as Angel was eating the food normaliy.)

Angel: Oh Mrs. Jing, sorry about my friends.

Jing: Oh it's alright dear. I'm glad may I say are you and your friends helping the great monk?

Angel: No hehhe sorry.

Mei: This is the best mystery meat stew I have ever had.

MK: Thanks, Auntie.

Tang Sanzang: Oh, uh, no stew for me, please. I'm a strict vegetarian. Eating flesh is an unvirtuous act against the body.

Mei: But we can still eat it, right?

Ghost Grandpa: Worry not, young sir. (Lorise, MK and Mei freak out and topple over one another at the sight of him.) Allow me to fix you something else. (They watch as he picks up the bowl but it falls right through his hands.) Oh, dear. Clumsy ol' Grandpa. I'll get a broom. (Items fly as he searches.)

Aims: Aw grandpa ghost!

MK: The Monk's unfinished business is the ghost's unfinished business! Two plots, one stone, baby!

Athena: I wish Angie was here...

Jing: Forgive us. We've lured you here under false pretenses, O wise Monk.

Liu Boqin: It's my grandfather. He's a sweet old thing, but we asked you here in the hopes you might guide his spirit to move on. Oh, don't get us wrong, he's absolute treasure, but—

Jing: This has been going on for years. Hundreds of smashed china sets, wailing at all hours of the night, and floating in unannounced. Oh, we love him, but he's gotta go.

Ghost Grandpa: Oh, it's hard to hold things when you don't have bones or skin anymore.

Mei: (She laughs and smacks her lips.) I like this guy.

Ghost Grandpa: I guess I should leave, but it's just so hard to say goodbye.

Tang Sanzang: Earthly connections can only weigh us down. Of course I will help. It's the least I can do to repay your generous hospitality.

(They all gather around as Tang Sanzang performs the ritual.)

MK: (He groans.) Can't we blow through this a little faster?

Tang Sanzang: Everything in its right time, everything in its right place. Don't touch a thing, it's working. (MK experiences a vision and the last one was Angie holding a stone and then accidentally kicks his khakkhara away.) No!

MK: Oops. Sorry! Uh, my bad! Get on outta here, nice Ghost Grandpa, sir. Go!

Ghost Grandpa: Go? Go?! I'm not going anywhere.

MK: Ugh, crud. (Ghost Grandpa grabs a hold on him and slams him around the house. Mei pulls out her Dragon Blade.)

Angel: MK?! Mei!? (Then grabbed the rest of the girls) OH CRAAAAAPPPP!!!

Angel + Aims + Athena + Lorise: AAAAAAAH!!!!!

Tang Sanzang: No! No violence!

Mei: You're kidding, right?! (Ghost Grandpa grabs a hold of her too and then the rest of his family.)

Jing: Pops, no!

Ghost Grandpa: If y'all don't like me hangin' round here, then maybe you should move out. I'm not leaving my home!

MK: Tang! Táng! Monk! You've gotta do something!

Tang Sanzang: But I made a vow never to harm another soul.

Angel: Not everything in life is black and white. Sometimes we need to use our power to protect people we care about!

Tang Sanzang: But-But all earthly connections must be put aside in order to—

Aims: It's never easy, but being there for your friends when they need you is what being a hero is all about.

Lorise: Oh and me and MK were thinking that you and Pigsy are married and MK is your son and I always felt like MK was like a brother to me.

MK: When we get out of here can we adopt Lorise to be my sister!

Ghost Grandpa: That sentiment is lame!

Tang: (Voice.) One day, I will become someone they can depend on, the way that I can always depend on them. (Chi flows out, releasing Ghost Grandpa's hold on everyone. He takes a look and screams.) My glasses! I can't see a thing! (MK hands him his glasses.) Oh, thank you and sure Lorise.

(MK and Lorise smiled and hugged each other)

MK + Lorise: WE GONNA BE SIBLINGS!!!

Ghost Grandpa: Boo.

Tang: (Screaming.) G-G-Ghost!

MK: Mr. Tang, you're back.

Mei: Now we can die together.

Ghost Grandpa: Looks like the magic boy finally got the nerve to fight!

Tang: Listen, you. Stop holding on to the past. It's time to go! But what I said before, "earthly connections can only weigh you down?" Well, I don't believe it. Your time with your family was precious, and nothing will ever take that away. The memories we make with the ones we love, they're what lifts us up. Your time here is over. But that doesn't mean your story is finished. You're not being cast out or pulled down. You are being lifted up. The next chapter is calling you to start a new adventure. It's time to answer the call!

Ghost Grandpa: You're right. I can't keep holding on to the past when I can't even hold on to a plate. See? No bones, no skin. Okay, bye.

Mei + Lorise: Bye-bye, boneless, skinless Grandpa.

MK: I can't believe that worked!

Athena: Thats was a beautiful speach!

Angel: 10/10 for that!

Aims: Agreed!

Tang: If that was destined to go wrong, then it would have.

(The next day, they wave goodbye as they head off.)

Liu Boqin: Thank y'all for everything, brave warriors.

Jing: And please don't come back.

MK: Aight, Mr. Tang. You ready for this?

Tang: Azure's instructions seem clear enough. But if our bond of friendship is strong, we'll always find our way back to one another.

Mei: Alright, off to the next chapter to find our friends. 

Mei + Lorise + Athena: Here!

MK + Angel + Aims: Comes!

Athena + Aims + Angel + Lorise MK +  Mei + Tang: (They appear in another chapter.) Monkie Tangs!

(They scream as lava spurts out around them and Tang teleports to another chapter to Flower Fruit Mountien when MK saw three monkeys, one was past Monkey King, the other was past Macaque and last one was a white fur monkey like Angie so MK used his gold vision and his eyes widen.)

MK: Angie?!
