Manhattan, New York
Jess kicked hard with her left leg, getting sent down to the ground by the weight of the mans arm wrapping tightly around her waist while he pushed her to the ground. He placed his hand on her neck, choking her as she tapped the floor, begging for him to stop.Β
The man kept choking her, not listening to the sound of her breath as she gasped for occasional breaths in between trying to get out of the situation. Finally, she wrapped her legs around his head and flipped him onto his back as she turned onto all floors. She kicked him in the face as he grabbed a knife from behind him and slashed the side of her arm, making her groan in pain as she punched him with her other arm.
"Enough." A large voice boomed from behind her, making her look up in fear. "Jessie, here, now."Β
She walked towards her father,Β her feet and legs aching as she walked. She stood in front of him, feeling small in stark to the large man in front of her.Β Her arm was dripping blood from the top while her father placed his hand near the wound as she winced in pain.Β
"Did that last man hurt you?" He asked, placing his hand on her chin as he lifted her face up so she could see him.Β
She nodded softly, knowing what was coming next. If she lied she would get hit, but if she told the truth, others paid. A common dilemma in Jesse's life for about a year now was knowing when she needed to lie to save others, but having to face the consequences if she was to lie.
"Do you know what we do to people who hurt us, Jessie?" He asked, kneeling down as he looked at the small girl who's eyes where slightly watering. "We kill them. Make them pay for what they've done to us." He stood up straight, still looking down at the girl. "Go take care of that man, Jessie."
She looked up, despair in her eyes. "Please I don't want to."
"You will never be a strong fighter if you don't learn what needs to be done." He spat. He saw that she was still looking up at him with terror in her eyes. "Now." He sneered quietly.
Jess turned back at the words of her father, watching the man desperately try and move but finding it hard to. He looked at her with alarm in his eyes, knowing what was to come. It was as if a switch flipped in her mind, seeing the man helpless and begging for his life with only his eyes made her feel powerful and strong compared to the man.
She began walking towards him, lifting the man's head up as he tried to squirm. She kicked his face down to the ground, grabbing the collar of his neck she began punching him from left to right. Blood spat everywhere across the matted floors, and sounds of bows twang and fletching's whimper filled the room.Β
Jess finally stopped, turning the mans head towards her as a singular tear shed down the side of his face. Hues of dark and light blood covered his tanned skin as she peered down at him. Her hands where placed on each of his cheeks as she spoke.
"Weak." She hissed.Β
With that she turned the man's head with her hands, cracking his neck completely as the sound of shattered bones took over the room.Β
Behind her, her father stood proudly as he stepped closer to her. She turned her head back, seeing that her father had extended his hand to her. She took it, blood smearing onto his hand as she stood. A smile bestowed his face, as the impression of pride took over his smile.
"Well done young one." He said, before footsteps entered into the room.Β
"Mr. Fisk, Dinner is prepared upstairs." The man said, eyes widening slightly when he saw the image behind the pair.
"Thank you." He said, facing Jess. "Go clean up, Jessie."Β
"Yes, Father." She spoke softly, before rushing up the stairs and into the main room.Β Β
Fisk walked closer to his servant, getting close as he whispered. "Get this cleaned up," he paused, slightly tilting his head closer. "And if any word gets out about this, just know I'll do to you what she did to him."
The servant eagerly nodded, not wanting to push the man any further.Β
Fisk walked away, proudly with a possessed smile wiped across his face.Β

Present time
"Morning." Jess called out, stepping into the office where Karen, Matt, and Foggy where all surrounding the main laptop in the office.Β
"Hey," Karen looked up, blonde hair surrounding her faceΒ "Come look at this."Β
Jess walked over, leaning down next to Matt as she looked at the computer screen. Large bolded words filled the screen, 'Man found dead in Hells Kitchen. When will the crime stop?' A picture of John Healey showed as Foggy began to read the words on the screen.Β
"John Healey found dead in a warehouse last night. Authorities say the man was charged at and continuously beaten until finally impaled." Foggy took a deep breath when he read further, "Witnesses say they saw two masked suspects leave the scene. Could this be a threat from the pair known as the devil and the angel of hells kitchen?"
"Why would they go after him?" Karen asked, standing up straight and crossing her arms.Β
"From what he told us this wasn't his first run in the criminal field. Maybe he did something to set the pair off." Matt shrugged, knowing well the actual reason behind it all.Β
Jess kept reading as everyone spoke with one another. Her attention was drawn into the group when she heard Karen calling her name.Β
"Jess." Karen said, making her head peer up at the trio of people looking at her. "Did you hear me?"
"Oh uh no sorry," she said, standing up. "What did you say?" She questioned.
"I was asking what you thought." She paused using her hands as she spoke, "about the whole devil and his angel thing."Β
"I don't really know," she shrugged, "I mean they seem to be trying to keep crime away so I would suspect nothing different with this. Maybe there was a reason for it."Β
"I just don't know why they would kill him." Karen asked shaking her head.Β
"Media gets things confused sometimes. Who knows, they may have not even been there." She said, walking towards her office.Β
Matt listened to her heartrate as she spoke, hearing it elevate when she would talk about the situation. His eyebrows furrowed together as he heard her walk. The sound of her heartrate being brought down left Matt slightly suspicious that she knew something.Β
A light knock came from the door as Jess walked into the main room with everyone. They all looked over, confused.Β
"Someone knocked." Jess said, her face left confused.Β
"Yeah..." Foggy said, still focused on the door.
Silence crept over the room before Matt interrupted, "Maybe we should actually get the door."Β
Everyone looked over at Karen who was looking at the people who's eyes where on her. "Oh yeah!" She said bubbly, walking over in a frizzy and opening the door. A small elderly woman with dark hair that was pulled back walked in.
"Uh excuse..." She looked down into her bag, pulling out a piece of paper. "Is this uh, SeΓ±or Foggy law?"Β
A wide smile covered Foggy's face as he nodded, "Yes, this is SeΓ±or Foggy law."Β
Everyone was seated in Foggy's office once again. Jess was seated next to Matt as the woman answered questions given by Foggy who was on the opposite side of the table from Jess.Β
"Bess Mahoney?" He questioned, "Brett's mom?"
"Si" the woman said pleased,Β "She referredΒ me. Said you where the best of the best."Β
Jess smiled wholeheartedly as the woman said that, seeing the surprised and energetic expression flush over both Matt and Foggy's face.Β
"Ella dijo que le das puros" The woman said smiling.Β
Jesse's head peered up from her notepad, "Oh really? You know, Brett's been trying to get them to stop that for a while now. Doesn't seem to be working."Β
The woman let out a small laugh, "Oh she love it! Say's these boys angels!"
"You know Spanish?" Foggy questioned, looking over at Jess.Β
"Very little." She said, looking over. "Took a course in college and I guess I remember some of it." She smiled.Β
"Ms. Cardenas, can you tell us what happened?" Matt asked, 'looking' straight forward at the small woman in front of him.Β
"Mi casa es rent-control." She said, sounding small and more sad from the tone of her voice. "But the landlord, SeΓ±or Tully."
"As in Armand Tully?" Foggy questioned, "Sleaze bag owns buildings all over town. I see that guys face everywhere."
"Si!Β y SeΓ±or TullyΒ Quiere convertir los apartamentos en condominios!" The woman said frantically, making it hard for Jess to keep up.
"He wants to turn the apartments into condos." Jess said, writing down the information.Β
"nos quiere fuera" The woman said saddened.
"And he wants you all out. No warning?" Jess questioned, putting hair behind her ear to keep it from her face.
"Si, no warning." She continued, "Los hombres vinieron hace unas semanas, dijeron que eran trabajadores y destruyeron los apartamentos con un mazo."
"Men came in a few weeks ago claiming they worked for the building," Jess translated, having to think as she spoke. "and they destroyed the apartments with a uh-" she paused, "I'm sorry, I don't know that last word."
"Sledgehammer." Matt said flatly, still facing Ms. Cardenas.
Jess looked over at Matt with a face of not only confusion but shock as well.Β
"College." Foggy pointed his pen at her. "You ever have a client who needs Punjabi translated, I'm your man."
"You know oddly enough I had a client-" She paused, realizing she was veering off subject. "That doesn't matter right now," she said shaking her head. "Um, Matt, do you want to do this?" She asked, referring to translating.Β
"No, no. I like listening to your voice." He said, making Foggy roll his eyes and shake his head.Β
Jesse's cheeks began to get red and hot, having to shift in her seat as she averted her attention back to the woman in front of her.Β
Foggy sighed, "Go on, Ms. Cardenas."Β
The small woman shook her head, "There is damage, en todas partes."
"Everywhere." Jess translated.Β
"No tenemos agua corriente ni caΓ±erΓas en funcionamiento." Ms. Cardenas said, followed by Jess who was writing and speaking.
"They have no running water or working pipes."Β
"Β‘Hace dΓas que no tenemos electricidad!"
"They haven't had electricity for days now." Jess kept translating and writing.Β
"We have tried to call police, we have spoken with officer" She shook her head, "Policia said 'take it up with the city!'" She looked down, shaking her head softly again. "Nosotras no sabemos que hacer"
"They don't know what to do." Jess said, finishing writing down the information as she looked up at Foggy who was reading from a piece of paper.Β
"This says that Tully offered them 10,000 to give up their rent control and vacate the premises." He placed the paper down in front of him, "Maybe we could pressure him into giving a better payout." He offered.Β
"No,Β SeΓ±or Foggy." She pleaded, "We don't want money. We want our homes."Β
The woman sounded sad and fearful, making Jess have sympathy towards the elderly woman.Β
"Ms. Cardenas," Jess said, leaning foward. "Lo siento mucho por lo que estΓ‘s tratando. Te prometo que mis socios y yo haremos todo lo posible para hacerte feliz. HarΓ© que Foggy hable con los abogados de Tully y verΓ© quΓ© podemos hacer."
Ms. Cardenas smiled widely, clasping her hands on Jesse's and holding them tightly. "Gracias, Sra. Jess!"Β
Jess smiled back, standing up as Ms. Cardenas was led out of the room by Karen. Foggy looked over, whispering.Β
"Uh, I heard my name mentioned in that. What was that about?" Foggy asked as they all walked out of the room.Β
Matt smirked slightly, "She reassured her that you would speak to Tully's lawyers."
"What?" Foggy exasperated. "Do you know who reps him?" He questioned, nervously.
Jess chuckled, "Yes Foggy I know who reps him." She said, walking over to her desk and placing the notepad down.Β
"Landman and Zack! Landman and Mother-Fucking Zach, man!" He said, arms flailing out as he spoke.Β
"Why are you getting so nervous?" She asked, amused by his terrified face. "It's just like every other law firm except they are rich enough to provide their employees with complementary cars when they sign with them."Β
"Believe me, we know." Matt said, holding his cane with both hands in front of him. "Foggy and I used to intern there."Β
"You interned there?" Jess asked, crossing her arms. "You guys get fired or something?"
"Nope, we where doing great. They offered us a job and all until someone," he turned his head towards Matt, "decided that we need to go off and save the world and fight for justice." He said, putting his hands up in a fist heroically.Β
Matt was laughing at Foggy with a wide smile, "And now they hate us."
"We're gonna need to load for bear if we're gonna take them on." Foggy said, looking at Matt.
"Jess and I will hit the precinct to check against complaints against Tully." Matt said, making Jess nod with agreement.Β The pair began walking to the door and grabbing their jackets when Foggy interrupted the process.Β
"You can't take Jess dude, you know I can't go to L and Z alone." Foggy said highly strung. "They're gonna shark attack me, Matt. Look at me," He paused as he whispered somberly and seriously, "I'm delicious."
"Why don't you take Karen with you?" Jess suggested.Β
Foggy stammered, "I mean uh yeah, if she wants to." he shrugged.Β
"Oh," she paused, "Sure." Her tone was bubbly, showing that she was at least more excited about the interaction at L and Z then he was. "I've never seen sharks eat up close before." She joked.
"Try not to splash to much, it attracts them." Matt said, patting him on the shoulder and making the group chuckle.
"And tone down the deliciousness if your so scared." Jess said, "I know that may be hard for you but do it for the law, Fog." She pointed, feeling a hand get placed on her lower back as she was guided out the door.Β
Karen chuckled in the corner Foggy shook his head.
"You guys are just so funny." Foggy whispered sarcastically.
The door shut behind the pair as they headed down the stairs and started their hike to the police station.Β
Sounds of phones ringing over one another took over the station as Jess and Matt walked in, heading straight for the man who was writing something down at the front desk while on the phone.Β
"Alright Ms. Springsteen, I'll make note of that-" he paused, listening to the woman on the other line who he seemed obviously annoyed with, "Yes-." he paused again, "Alright, have a good day." He quickly hung up, looking straight forward at the pair that stood in front of him.Β
"Look who it is. . . Murdock and Grace-Philips, coming to annoy me again."Β
"You know each other?" Matt questioned, referencing to the officer and Jess.Β
"She used to come to the station on a daily asking for information about new cases that she could represent." He said putting his pen down, "She's almost as much of an annoying burden as you are." He nodded to Matt.
"I used to bring you coffee when I came in," she defended herself, "I thought that made up for me annoying you." A slight smirk of victory swept across her face, "And I gave you a few other gifts, if you could call it that,Β that sure shows that you don't hate me that much."
Brett's face became flustered, looking down at the piece of paper below him as he shook his head.Β
"Am I wrong to assume-"
"Yes, Murdock. You are very wrong to assume."Β
Matt smiled, in a way a bit jealous of Brett's encounters with the woman.Β
"How's your mom?" Matt asked, trying to veer away from the subject as much as possible.
"We go from talking about sex to the subject of my mom? This some sort of joke?" Brett asked seriously as he leaned a bit over the desk.
"We're representing a client. A friend of your moms." Jess chipped in. "Ms. Cardenas."
"Oh," he paused as he collected himself, "well in that case my mom's doing fine, just smells like an ashtray."Β
"I keep telling Foggy to stop giving her cigars." Matt smiled, "He doesn't seem to listen."
"Eh," Brett brushed it off, "Dirty old bird would find a way to get them either way." He shrugged. "Now back on the subject of Ms. Cardenas, your going after Tully, aren't you?" He said, copying down on a notepad something from the computer in front of him.Β
"Yeah, you know him?" Matt asked.Β
"Yeah." He stood up, seriously. "Guys a real dickhead." He put his hands out, his face expression changing. "But, he stays just this side of ordinance, so theirs nothing we can do."
"Can you pull some copies of complaints?" Jess asked, making Brett's attention turn towards her. "Maybe a minute or two with the officer who took them?"
He turned to Matt, "You really think You, Foggy, and Jess can help out with this?"
"Yeah, we can try." Matt shrugged, sounding optimistic. "Besides, she doesn't seem to be that bad of a lawyer so I have some hope." He nodded to Jess.
Brett looked over at Jess as he stared her down seriously.
"Come on," she pleaded, "for old times sake." She winked.Β
His cheeks grew red as he shook his head, 'Damn you, Grace-Phillips." He mumbled as he closed his notepad and began to walk away as he grabbed his coffee. "I'll see what I can find."Β
"Thank you," Matt smiled kindly as they both went over to take a seat at the benches surrounding the desk.Β
"I guess charm does come in handy in law industry." Matt said, sitting down next to Jess as she chuckled lightly, placing her bag on her lap.Β
"It was a one," she paused thinking, "It was a three time thing-"
"Three times?" Matt questioned, his brows raised and his mouth open in a wide smile of shock. "You fucked Mahoney three times?"Β
"Don't judge me," she slapped his arm. "I needed some information one time and he was very kind to me," she nodded her head. "One thing lead to another and," she shrugged.Β
Matt laughed, placing his hands on his temple. "Jesus Christ." He laughed harder.Β
"Shouldn't you not be saying Jesus name in vein?" She questioned while she laughed, looking over and waving her hands as she spoke. "You know, whole Catholic guilt thing and all."
"Eh," he waved the comment off, "I'll ask for forgiveness and promise to never sin again." He paused, his face formed into a dazed look of belittlement. "How did you know I was Catholic?"
She paused, taking a deep breath. "I may or may not have searched your name up online and found a picture of you with the rest of The Saint Agnes Orphanage."Β Β
Matt scoffed, "And when exactly was this?" He questioned, shifting in his seat as he faced her with a smug smile, amused that the girl took interest in him.
"About a year ago." She confessed. "You where working a case against me, the Monica Rutherford case to be exact." A slight smile formed on her face, "Long story short, I thought the tactics you where using where impressive and I wanted to see where you graduated from." She shrugged, "I just so happened to look a bit further then I needed too."
Matt smiled, "So you stalked me?"
"Stalking and searching someone up on the internet are two different things." She corrected him, putting her finger up as she laughed along with him. "Think of it more as a private investigation."
"Oh," Matt nodded amusingly, "So your Jessica Jones?" He joked.Β
"I mean our names are extremely close," she shrugged, "who says by day I'm a great lawyer and by night I'm not an intelligent P.I?" She questioned, sarcastically.Β
Matt flashed one of his million dollar smiles as he laughed, getting cut short by the sound of Jesse's phone ringing in her bag. She looked down, mumbling curse words as she looked over at Matt.Β
"Its Lily, I gotta take this real quick." Jess said, standing up and walking out of distance as she picked up the phone and began speaking.Β
It may have been rude, but Matt was trying to listen. One of the drawbacks of his hearing abilities was that he always knew what people where saying on a phone call, making it especially awkward when what was said was something that should have just stayed between them both. Was it a drawback for him? No. For others, yes.
As Matt tried to listen, his hearing was cut off by overlapping chatter in one of the interrogation rooms.Β
"Now I just want you to tell me again, how did it start?" He heard a man say, the words becoming clearer as he listened closer. "We have you at the scene with a dead Chinese illegal, Piotr." He heard pages being flipped upwards, "and a bag full of drugs."
"Uh oh, that will buy you a one way ticket to 30 years in asshole land." The second officer smarted.Β
"Do you know who I work for?" The man being interrogated asked, sounding annoyed.
"A couple of dipshit brothers nobody gives a fuck about." The first officer smarted, his Brooklyn accent coming out as he stood from his chair.Β
"Bye bye dickhead." The first officer said, tapping his hand on the desk as he went towards the door being followed by the other officer.Β
It took a couple moments before the man in the chair snapped, "Wait." He called out desperately. "What if I can give you another name?" The man questioned.Β
The officers both turned back, "This guy would have to be big." One of them scoffed, "King fucking Kong."
"He is." The man said, his tone scared.Β
Matt twitched his head slightly to listen in more, his heart speeding up as he waited.Β
"Wilson Fisk." The man confirmed, looking up scared at the officers in front of him.Β
Silence wavered in the air for Matt until he heard the sound of the second officers voice, "And what do you know about Mr. Fisk?" He questioned.
"He's powerful." The man said looking down fearful, "And nobody is supposed to say his name. Not anybody."
The first officer nodded in silence for a moment, "Yeah your right." He continued to nod as he looked up, "Nobody should say his name."Β
Matt's head cocked up, making his back come up from his seat as he listened.Β
The first officer went over to the second, punching him in the face and sending him flying into the back wall. The second officer smiled, bloodied teeth filling his mouth.Β
"Help! He's attacking me!" The second officer called out, before the sound of a gunshot took over the entire police department.Β
Matt stood up, running towards Jess who was walking back as she heard the noise. Her expression changed quickly from a smile to a look of absolute terror. Officers came from every direction, running into the interrogation room and yelling at one another. People where shouting over one another, calling out to other officers to get help.Β
Jess and Matt both stood in front of each other with looks of pure terror, not knowing what to do.Β
That night came around quickly after the incident at the police station.Β
Jess and Matt where asked to leave by Brett who said he would give Jess a call if he had any information. He said because of the recent case he would probably be more busy then usual and would have a hard time adding their request into his daily schedule. Still, he stayed optimistic for the pair, trying to help them.Β
Jess needed to find the man in the mask and tell him that she knew this had to do with Fisk. Ever since she was younger he always had police on his side, making it so with every bad deed he and his daughter where accommodated to, they would never get caught. Jess knew from the way the officer spoke that this wasn't just any accident. The man's knuckles where bloody, and the ring the officer wore was plastered on the side of the other officers face, leaving an indent.Β
She knew that Fisk had gotten to them.
Despite Lily being over the moon excited about their girls night which would feature 'Legally Blonde,' one of Lily's favorite movies, and a shit ton of junk food with matching pajamas, Jess had other plans that she knew mattered most to her. She felt bad about breaking the promise she made to Lily, feeling an aching pain in her stomach from guilt as she fled from one building to another, trying to make it to her watch spot where she knew the masked man would be.
She made her way up the large structure, walking with a quick pace as she saw the masked man standing on the edge of the building with his head turned towards her.
"I need to talk to you." They both said in union, walking towards each other with their fingers pointed at one another.Β
"You first," they both said again in union, "Okay fine you-" they both said.
"Just go!" Jess rushed, waiting for the man to speak.Β
"That officer that claims the criminal shot at him in the station, he's lying." Matt said in a hurry, "He works for Fisk." He continued, breathing heavily. "Okay, now you go."Β
Jess stood back remaining silent.Β
"Why aren't you saying anything?" He questioned.
"Because you just said what I was going to say. I thought I was ahead of you on this one." She said sounding upset. "Wait," she questioned. "How the hell did you know that?"
"I could ask you the same thing." He added.Β
They both looked at each other, cocking their heads. Matt shook his head as he spoke,Β
"Okay that doesn't matter," He said quickly, "We need to find this guy and have him turn himself into the police."
"We can't do that." Jess said rapidly.
"What? Do you have a better idea?" The man asked almost annoyed by the sound of his tone. "I mean if you have one then by all-"
"They all work for Fisk." She snapped, "The majority of those cops work for Fisk and if he goes in and turns himself in knowing that we made him do it, they'll start coming after us."
The masked man took a deep inhale, "What do we do then, huh?" He questioned. "How are we going to stop Fisk when everyone we need to help us is working for him?"
"We do it ourselves."
"We can't do it by ourselves."Β
"With that attitude we can't." She sassed, "Just trust me. I trusted you enough to throw myself off a building, I think its time you pay be back for a broken rib."Β
The masked man shook his head, "Fine," he paused. "What's your plan?"
Jess slapped the man across the face, grabbing his shoulders and kicking him in the gut as he fell to the ground. She kicked him back into the wall as the masked man grabbed a hold of him, leaning down on the ground.Β
"Fucking bitch-" The man groaned, trying to sit up but inevitably failing when he was kicked in the neck by the masked man.
"Scream and your face becomes plastered to that wall." The masked man said, holding his hand over the officers mouth. "We clear?"
The man nodded quickly as the vigilante took his hand from his mouth.Β
"You killed that Russian in interrogation-"
"I had no choice he jumped my partner!"
"Bullshit." Jess said, kneeling down and grabbing his head as she slammed her fist into it. The man bleated, the sounds of his breath hitching took up the space between the trio.
"You lie to me again, I'll have her take care of you by herself." He shook his head, a sly smirk forming on his face as the man below him groaned. "And trust me, you don't want that."
"You killed him cause he said a name." She said, "Wilson Fisk."
"I have no idea what your talking about." The man whimpered, getting a look of disappointment from the masked man and woman.Β
"I warned you." The masked man said, looking up at Jess who was flipping a knife in her hand as she lunged towards him.
"Fine! Fine!" The man called out, his eyes watering from pure fear. Jess stepped bac, still holding the knife up in her hand. "I'll tell you just please don't kill me!" He closed his eyes in pain, "I shot him cause he said a name, so what?" A sly smirk grew on his face, "from what I heard your little girlfriend has a thing for killing people to. It's not just Fisk who likes killing Russians."
"Say another word about me and your head will be the next one that's chopped off." She snapped, stepping forward as she felt a set of hands land on her lower stomach, signaling for her to stop. The masked man turned his head towards the man again, punching him in the nose as the sound of cracking bones filled the air. The mans nose was bloody and crooked, making him ache in pain.Β
"You said Fisk killed a Russian..." the masked man stated, "Who did he kill?"
The man didn't say anything, just looked straight forward at the masked man.Β
"Tell me!" The man in the mask said, hitting the officer against the wall.Β
"His name is Anatoly!" The man yelled. "Him and his brother are working for Fisk. I guess he got mad and killed him, I'm not sure." He groaned as his eyes clenched shut in pain.
"Where are they?" She asked.Β
"I don't know." He said, seeing that Jess was bawling her fist up. He put his hands out in front of his face as he spoke rapidly, "I promise I don't know where he is!" He cried, "Please!"
"He's telling the truth." The masked man said, standing up as he let go of the mans head. "How are Fisk and the Russians connected? Why would he kill Prohaszka for him?"
The man on the floor shook his head, "You don't know?" he questioned. "Fuck, you really are one stupid son of a bitch."Β
Matt heard the sound of a holster being moved as he quickly went to swipe his feet to his face. Before he could, the sound of a knife piercing through skin took over. The girls heartbeat was racing behind him, and her breath was increasingly getting higher. The sound of a phone buzzing on the floor made them both look over. Jess walked over, picking it up and looking down at the bright white screen.
The pair where resting on the top of a roof as Jess looked through the phone. The masked man was standing in front of her as she sat leaned against a wall, swiping her fingers over the buttons to investigate every inch of this device.Β
"No numbers, no contacts," she shook her head, "nothing."
"It was buzzing when we where there. Are you sure there isn't a message?" He questioned, standing with his hands on his hips as he peered down at her. The stance he had was familiar to her, making her cock her head before her attention was driven elsewhere.Β
"Uh, I don't know. Let me look."Β
The sound of her pressing her fingers against the metal buttons was all Matt could hear, waiting for a response from the girl. Her eyes widened, "There's a text message. A list of locations." She said looking up at him. "47th and 12th, 48th and 9th, 42nd and 10th, 44th and 11th."Β
"44th and 11th?" He questioned.
"Thats where the boy was." She continued, standing up. "These are listing where the Russians are." She said, walking off as he followed while they walked side by side.
Matt jumped down from the fire escape, kicking a man in the back and sending him into Jesse's arm where she hit him straight in the gut. He got up quickly, rushing towards Jess and punching her as she blocked her face, throwing an occasional punch to his face and neck until finally she hit him hard enough for him to fall.
Jess looked up at the masked man, seeing behind him something red and flashing. Her eyes widened, running towards him as she pushed him to the ground and wrapped her arms around him, landing on top.Β
The sound of an overlapping explosion made Matts ears ring. The pair where holding each other, arms wrapped tightly around the other as burning embers fell to the ground below them. Jess unwrapped herself from the man, coughing as she placed her elbows down to get up.
"Fuck." She groaned, ears still ringing. She looked over, the masked man's face was bleeding.Β
"No no no no no." She repeated, sitting up on her knees as she lifted his head up into her lap. "No come on, come on dude don't do this now." Her accent was now completely gone, not caring if he heard her as pure panic rushed over her body. She tapped him, and moved his head in her lap to try and wake him up.
"No come on." She said, voice quavering. "Please come on, wake up."Β
Memories rushed through Jesse's head as she did this, feeling her heart clench up tightly around the skin of her body.
"Please don't do this, please." She pleaded, holding her mothers head in her lap as she looked up at her father with anguish in her voice. "You monster!" she screamed. "Your a killer!"
Fisk stared down at the small girl who was cradling her mother, showing no emotion whatsoever.
"You killed her! You killed her!"Β
"Take her away" Fisk said, before Jess was grabbed by the back of her arms and pulled out of the room where her mother laid flat on the ground, blood oozing from her chest.Β
"No!" Jess screamed as she kicked, "Get off of me!"Β
Sounds of paralyzing screams filled the room as she was dragged out, and the doors closed in front of her face. When the men let her go, she rushed back to the door, knocking harshly without end.Β
"Let me in!" She screamed. "Your a killer! A killer!"Β
Jesse's hands where bloody as she pressed against the door and finally stopped knocking. She collapsed altogether, crying into her hands as she leaned her back against the door.
Jess looked down at her hands, once again filled with blood that wasn't her own.
The man was still not responding. She leaned her head down as the noise of the building falling took over the silence of the burning embers that would occasionally catch on her shirt. She quickly got up, grabbing the mans arms and pulling him from the scene. She pulled her mask down so the bandana was wrapped around her neck, finding it hard to breath as she walked.Β
She pulled harder as she tried to drag him away, finally stopping in between two brick buildings where the light was low. She placed him down fully on the ground as she got on her knees, trying to get him awake. His face was bloodied, and his mask was soaked with his own blood towards his forehead.
She knew she shouldn't, but she needed to.Β
She grabbed a hold of the bottom of the mans mask, "I know you told me that you need to keep this on around me, but I think me saving your ass is bigger then your identity."Β
She quickly lifted the mask up, heart practically stopping when she saw the face. The heart shaped lips, the brown eyes that made her fluster when she saw them, the scruff that would tickle her cheek when he would kiss her, she knew it all.Β
She continued to stare down at the man, not moving a single bit. Her eyes where unable to shut, as if the entire world around her had stopped moving. She was in paralysis as she stared down at him, practically hearing her heartbeat ring through her ears.Β
"No fucking way." She breathed, "No fucking way."Β
Matt Murdock was the man in the mask.
Her body finally was able to move as the noise of sirens signaled that she needed to leave. She craned her neck, seeing flashing lights bounce of the wall near her.Β
"Shit." She mumbled, getting up and walking behind the man as she grabbed him from under his arms, bending down and tossing one of his arms over her shoulder as she stood crouched over.
She kept walking, mind occupied not on the fact of getting caught without a mask with an unconscious man, but rather who the unconscious man was.
The man in the mask is Matt Murdock.
Matt Murdock is the man in the mask.
It didn't matter how she said it, or what words she used to tell herself that it was him, she was still in shock. Repeating it one more time in her mind, she continued walking back to her apartment.Β
Matt Murdock is The Devil Of Hells Kitchen.

So...she knows.Β
I know this chapter may have been a bit boring, but you gotta bare with me on it lol. I have been trying to figure out how to reveal their identities and this was really the only way I liked. Next weeks chapter will possibly be out early due to the fact I have already started writing it lol.
Also, how would you guys feel if I started writing one shots? Comment your thoughts on if I should do it or not. If you want me to do it, also leave some requests for any ideas you have for them!Β
***EDIT: I started writing one-shots for anyone wanting to read them! Requests are open!
