A/N- Happy (almost) Friday everyone! I am so excited to post this weeks chapter just because of how much I love it. This one is somewhat long so settle in with a snack and a drink, because this is gonna be one wild ride.ย

For the main scene I recommend listening to some 50's swing music/ Frank Sinatra just to get yourself in the mood of that...fanciness I guess lol.ย

Warnings: Noneย

"Your on the news." Lily said, taking a large bite of eggs as she turned in the spinning chair that rested near their island countertop. "Again."ย

Jess walked from her room, scratching her head as she opened her eyes wider to see the tv screen across the apartment. A news anchor was speaking as words on a banner lit the bottom of the screen.

Vigilante pair strikes once again, 1 casualty - a young boy

"Lucky me." Jess said unenthusiastically, walking over to the kitchen as she grabbed the coffee pot, pouring herself a cup of warm coffee.

Lily turned around again, facing the tv as she turned the volume up.ย

"A young boy found dead inside of a van near 41st and 9th this morning. Witnesses near the scene report seeing the vigilante pair known as The Devil and Angel of Hells Kitchen." Papers where shuffled into the mic. "Action news 9 has gotten little information on the case so far, but will be sure to update our website when any details are shared. Next at 9, Wilson Fisk dedicates a speech to those-"

Lily shut the tv off, turning her head to the side as Jess sat in another chair beside her.ย

Jess curled her knees up to her chest, using her arm as an anchor so they didn't move. She took slow sips from her coffee pot as she slowly began to wake up, the morning sun shining behind the tv and into the large room.

Lily was looking down at her phone as she spoke, "You know, your not just on local news." She said, pointing her phone in the direction of Jess. "Your even on the TODAY show and Good Morning America." She said, bringing her phone back to her face. "Some people are calling you guys heroes."ย

"Lily-"

"I know, I know, I'll stop." She said, putting her phone down. She looked in the direction of Jess, moving her chair so it was facing her. "Your not even a little excited about the publicity?"

Jess looked at Lily with a confused face, "I'm being treated as a homicidal vigilante." She placed her cup of coffee down on the counter. "I'm getting charged with arson and murder. It's not necessarily something I'm jumping up and down about."ย

"I know but it's not all bad." She shrugged, "Some people are saying you and Matt are keeping Hells Kitchen safe." She picked her phone up again, scrolling through the screen. "Hell, you even have t-shirts being made of you."

"You better not buy one."ย

"Already did."ย

"Damnit, Lily." Jess groaned, throwing her head back. "I'm trying to stay low. Fisk already knows who I am, and I sure as hell don't want him coming out with that information to the public." She sighed, "If he was to tell everyone who I am, I would be in deep shit."ย

"He wouldn't do that because he knows you would make a statement about what he did to you."ย

"Lily he has power." Jess said, "It doesn't matter what I say, it's my word against his. An accused murderer against a guy who people look up to as their hero." She said disgusted.ย

Lily shook her head, "You know, the American law system is really bullshit."ย

"Tell me about it." Jess groaned standing up.

"I mean really, it's money over truth." Lily exclaimed, "Even when I went to court over that dipshit who crashed into my car, because he got the most fancy little lawyer he didn't pay a fucking penny."ย

"Yep, and I'm the fancy little lawyer who has to deal with those assholes." Jess said, dropping her cup in the sink. "Speaking of that, duty calls and I have to get ready for work."

"I should get going too." Lily said standing up as she threw her coat over her shoulders. "Did I tell you I accepted a job at this other gallery?" She questioned.ย

"So no more evil tiny ginger as your boss?" Jess questioned, her hands crossed over her chest as she leaned against the doorframe of her bedroom.

Lily chuckled, "No more evil ginger." She grabbed her bag and began walking to the door where she slipped her shoes on. "It's this fancy gallery just North of here. The lady that hired me seemed nice. You should stop by sometime, maybe you know, brighten your room up a bit."

"I'm the only one that's ever in there, and I like the tediousness of my room."ย

"Well I don't know." Lily smirked as she slipped her shoes on, "You spent the night at your little boyfriends house so I figured it was his time to stay here."

"First off he isn't my boyfriend," Jess pointedย  "and second of all I stayed because I was bleeding and didn't want to scare you by walking into the apartment half dead."ย

"You must have not been that hurt considering you guys fucked." Lily chuckled, opening the door as Jess began to stutter over her words.ย

Lily lifted a finger, "Save your defending skills for the court." She turned back, "Tell your boyfriend I said hi." She said with sarcasm.

"Lily Marie Tartt-"

The door shut quickly as Lily walked off, leaving Jess inside the apartment with a smile swept across her face. She quickly caught herself, cutting the smile short. She bit the inside of her cheek as she walked into her bedroom.

"He's not my boyfriend." She mumbled to herself, the smile slowly returning.ย

Jess sauntered up the stairs to the office, pressing down on the handle and walking into the large room that looked like a disorganized mess. She took her headphones out, looking at Foggy and Karen who where arguing with each other.ย

"No no no, that's too far to the left." Foggy complained, his hand on his face looking disappointed.ย

Karen stood on top of a foldable chair as she hung garland across the office. It was connected all across the edges of the office along with blingy lights that where flashing red, green, yellow, and blue. A large sign that read 'Merry Christmas' took over the back wall, covering some of the windows.ย

"Hey." Jess said with a smile, "Glad to see your back." She said referring to Foggy.

"Glad to be back." He said as he turned back, placing his hands in his pockets, "-ish." He grunted. "Jesus Karen hand me those." He put his hands up, grabbing the garland from her as he moved her off the chair. "You have the worst decorating skills I've ever seen."ย

Karen scoffed, "Well I'm sorry, all my Christmas decorating spirit was used when I was decorating my place in the beginning of the month." She crossed her arms, "It's not my fault you waited a week before Christmas to start decorating the office."ย

Jess smiled as the pair continued bickering, walking into the office her and Matt shared. Matt's head peaked up at the sound of her, following her around the room until she sat down at the desk next to his.ย

"Hey." Matt said in one breath, making Jess's head face him. His lips formed into a tight and awkward smile.

"Hi." She responded back, opening her laptop.ย

For some reason she couldn't find any words to say to him. I mean really, how exactly do you talk to someone you witnessed a death with the night before?ย

Matt exhaled, standing up and walking over to the door. He closed the door slowly, leaning his hand over and turning the blinds shut.

"I wanna talk about last night." Matt said, crossing his arms over his chest as he leaned against her desk. "I'm sorry that Stick got you dragged into that. He has a tendency to make people do that kind of shit." He paused, "I just thought maybe he would have been different then he was before."ย

"It's not your fault." Jess shook her head, "You shouldn't feel bad about it. Last night when I left it wasn't because of you." She took a deep breath, "I've just- I've had a lot going on and just needed some time. We've had a lot going on." She corrected herself.ย

Matt slightly chuckled, "Yeah." He showed a small smile. "I just want to make sure your okay." He reached out, grabbing Jess's hand which was on the desk.ย

Jess smiled, "I am, thanks." She said, just as Matt stopped his smile.ย

"There's also something else I wanted to bring up." He said, pulling his hand back as he walked back to his desk, reaching for a file that rested on the bottom cabinet of his desk. He grabbed it, sliding it to her.

"What's this?" She questioned, taking it from the desk and opening it.

"Fisk is hosting a gala event tonight. It's for lawyers in the area." He said, sitting into his chair. "We where invited a couple months ago but due to the fact that it was only Foggy and I, we said we wouldn't go."

Jess continued looking down at the file. "So what's your plan if we go, just waltz in there and try and skin information off of Fisk?"ย

"The building that the event is being hosted in is the same one Fisk has his office in. If we can get in there and get into his office maybe we can find some sort of information on him and the people that are being paid under the table by him." Matt stated, leaning his arms forward on the table.ย

"That sound's like a good plan, only there's one issue." She lifted her head from the file, "It says here that both owners of the company are required to be there. Without both in attendance admission will be declined."ย

Matt took a deep breath as he fidgeted with his hands, "Maybe it won't be an issue."

Jess cocked her head, "Where are you getting with this?"

"Foggy already knows about me and is willing to help stop Fisk." Matt uttered, "If we bring him along and...tell him about you."

"Excuse me?"

"Just let me get to it." Matt said, putting his hand up. "If we bring him and tell him about you he can help us out." He persuaded. "Jess, we aren't going in as The Devil and Angel of Hells Kitchen, we're going in as us. Two ordinary people, one of which is blind."ย

"So your idea is to drag one of our friends into this mess?" Jess questioned. "Matt, Fisk is dangerous. In a public setting or not he is still a threat."

"Then let's stop him." Matt said, placing his hand on Jess's. "We said we would do this no matter what, but I'm not going to do anything that you don't want to do. So I need you to be okay with this."ย

Jess bit the inside of her lip, taking a large breath. "Fine." She stated simply, "But only because this is in a public setting. I don't want bringing our friends into this dumpster fire to be a normal occurrence."ย

"And it won't." Matt hesitated. "But I do need to ask one more favor of you."

"Go on." Jess said nervously.ย

"I don't want Foggy standing alone considering he's well...not the best at making small talk and distracting people." He formed his lips into a tight smile as he squinted his eyes, his glasses moving with the motion.ย

"Just say it, Matt." Jess said, closing her eyes, hoping he wouldn't say what she was thinking.

"I need you to bring Lily to the gala." Matt breathed. "But only for Foggy's sake. She won't get involved in this any further, I just need something to occupy him that doesn't involve him getting completely wasted at the open bar."ย

"You clearly haven't met Lily, getting drunk at a public event is formal iquiqueite for her."ย

"Lily works at a gallery, she knows how to schmooze people over." Matt said, "Foggy?" He shook his head, "Not so much."ย

Jess shook her head, "Murdock."ย

"I know, I know, you hate me for getting her involved. But she already knows about us and what you do." He stated, "But I'll still make it up to you."

"How?" Jess questioned, leaning into her chair.ย

"An actual date." Matt offered. "We've had sex, you've spent the night at my place, but we have yet to go on a real date." He leaned forward, "We'll go somewhere fancy and I'll treat you as if it's our first date." He shrugged, "Or whatever date the sex usually comes with."ย

A smile formed on Jess's lips. "This seems like it's also benefiting you."

"Oh it is." Matt agreed, "But it's that or we just go straight to the sex. Figured you would want to eat a good meal first."

She chuckled, closing her eyes as she shook her head. "Fine." She said opening her eyes. "But I swear if this goes bad and Lily ends up in jail."ย

"She'll have a really good lawyer to get her out." Matt stated.ย

Jess turned her head, as her mouth opened.

"I was joking." Matt laughed, "Maybe."ย

Jess laughed before she cocked her head in confusion, "Quick question, how did you know about me telling Lily?" She questioned. "I never told you that."

Matt pointed to his ears, making Jess grow a confused look.ย

"You can hear me all the way from your apartment?" She questioned.

Matt had a small smile grow on his face, "Your a loud talker."ย

"I am not."ย

"I could hear you from three miles away, your not necessarily quiet." Matt said, standing up as he walked over to Jess. "But," he shrugged, "I love that about you." He leaned down, placing his hands on either side of her.ย

"Oh really?" She cocked her head as a smirk grew on her face. "Well what else do you love about me?" She questioned.

"Your lips." Matt said, pressing a kiss to her lips. "Your smile and how when you smile everyone around you does too." He kissed her again, making her smile. "Your humor and sarcasm." Another kiss, "And how you never fail to make me happy when I'm around you. Even when we're talking about our city being destroyed."ย

Jess smiled into the last kiss, just as he pulled back. "Well that's a lot to love about me, Murdock."ย

"And there's so much more." He stood up fully as he put a hand out for Jess, "Sadly though I don't think we have enough time to go into all of them. Foggy said he wanted me to help him with Christmas decorations." He pulled Jess out of her seat.

Matt wrapped his hands around Jess's waist as he pulled her to him.ย

"Don't you like Christmas?" Jess questioned with a smile as she wrapped her arms around Matt's neck. "You know the smell of gingerbread everywhere, Mariah Carrey songs playing on repeat, and the snow."

"I do, just not with Foggy." Matt pointed out. "Did he ever tell you what happened at our last Christmas party?"

"No."

"Exactly, because we never have them since he's such a Christmas freak." He shook his head making Jess laugh, 'I'm being serious, he flips his shit if even one decoration is off center. He could never stand drunk people ruining all his hard work."ย

"Well then we better go save Karen." Jess laughed. "He was yelling at her for being off center on the decorations when I walked in."ย

Matt threw his head back as he grunted, "I told him to leave the poor girl out of his decorating." He said, pulling Jess's hand behind him as he headed towards the door. He twisted the handle, walking out into the main room.ย

"Foggy." Matt called out, as he turned around wearing a Santa hat. "What the hell man, I thought we agreed to leave Karen and Jess out of your decorating shenanigans."ย

"I didn't get Jess involved," he pointed. "And Karen offered so technically it's her fault she got dragged into it."

"Well either way, I'm here to help." Jess said with a smile as she walked with Matt to the middle of the room.ย

Foggy turned his head, "Hopefully you have better sense of left and right then Karen." He turned around to face Karen who was standing on the chair. "I said three inches to the left not the right."

Karen turned around, "Know what, have her do it." She stepped down from the chair, handing Foggy the greenery. "Your an ass when it comes to holiday's. You turn into an angry elf."ย

"I just have Christmas spirit." Foggy exclaimed, putting his hands out. "Matt, take these and put them on the tree."ย

"Your trusting a blind man with decorations?"

"Yeah, because then our clients will think a child did it and will want to hire us." Foggy said, clapping his hands. "Chop chop, Murdock. Santa doesn't wait on your blind ass."

The entire office became filled with laughter as Foggy turned the radio on. Christmas music echoed off the walls of the office as snow fell just outside, creating a white haze inside the building. The entire day was spent like this. Decorating, talking, and laughing.

Despite the joyful ambience though, fear was still rushing through Jess's veins knowing that tonight would be the first time in years she would have to see her father in person.ย

She was never a fan of family reunions before

ย and she sure as hell wasn't a fan of them now.

"Okay so how do I act?"ย

"What do you mean how do you act?" Jess questioned as they walked up the large set of stairs that lead to the main ballroom. She had her hand on her dress, lifting it slightly as they stepped.

"Well you know as a lawyer." Lily questioned, "I'm an artist, I'm not usually this professional."ย

"Just act like me." Jess shrugged as she faced forward again. "I don't know, I've never had to pretend to be a lawyer before."

"So stay by the bar the entire night complaining about how much I hate people?" Lily questioned as she made her way up the final step.ย

"Exactly, there you go." Jess said as they stood in line waiting for their ID's to get checked. "Just stick with Foggy and he'll show you what to do. Don't talk too much but don't stay quiet either. Only answer the questions you are a hundred percent sure of, and laugh at every joke that is made."ย

Lily nodded, "So be a rich prick. Got it." She lifted her ID as both her and Jess where admitted into the event. "Would you take that ugly ass jacket off?" Lily grunted. "I got you all dolled up just for you to look like a slob. I want my work to get shown off, I want eyes on you Jess."ย

"I don't look like a slob, It's fucking cold outside." She said, tugging the jacket further around her body. "Besides, I'm trying to stay low. My fathers here and personally I would rather avoid him for as long as possible."

"Does Matt know?" Lily questioned. "About..."

"No." Jess said simply, "And he doesn't need to know yet."

"The longer you wait to tell him the worse it's going to be to break the news." Lily said. "Your getting close to him Jess, I can tell you are. He's one of the only guys you have ever talked about without using the words 'get out of a date'."

Jess rolled her eyes, "I'll tell him, okay? Just for now stick to your job and I'll stick to mine."ย

"Fine." Lily said, seeing the pair of men in suits waiting by the entrance near the coat rack. "Speaking of men, Foggy is looking very handsome tonight." Lily said with a large smile.ย

"Keep the fucking for after the event." Jess warned.ย

"Same goes for you." Lily nodded just as they made their way to Matt and Foggy. "Well hello boys." Lily said with a prideful smile as she looked over to Matt. "Your the guy giving my best friend head." She smiled, placing her hand out. "Nice to meet you, I'm Lily."

"Oh my God." Jess mumbled as she rolled her eyes.

Matt's lips curled at the edges. "Uh hi." He chuckled, shaking her hand. "I'm Matt."

Jess looked over at Foggy who was shaking his head at her. He had a smile on his face as he leaned in, whisper yelling.ย

"I knew it was you!" He whisper yelled.ย

"No you didn't."ย

"No I didn't." Foggy admitted, turning his head towards Lily. "Hi Lily." Foggy said, his cheeks growing red. "It's nice to uh, see you again."

"You too." Lily said, wearing one of the largest smiles Jess had ever seen her wear. "Your looking handsome tonight."

"You too." Foggy said, stuttering over his words. "Not handsome! Sexy! No- Hot, beautiful! There you go." He panicked. "You look beautiful."ย

Matt and Jess chuckled under their breaths at the interaction. Matt turned his head back towards Jess as both Foggy and Lily spoke.ย

"Ready for an evening of sneaking around trying to stop a criminal who everyone thinks is a hero while also keeping our status of professional lawyers?" Matt asked.ย

"No, but I brought tequila in my bag ,so I will be soon." Jess said, lifting up the clutch she had in her hand.ย

"We're gonna go grab a drink and catch up a bit." Lily said, her arm wrapped in Foggy's. "You both...have fun." She sighed.

"We'll come get you when we're done." Jess said, "Just stay low and off the radar please. And make sure that you text me if you see anyone going near the offices."ย

"Fine," Lily breathed. "But only if you take off that ugly ass jacket, please Jess." She pleaded.ย

"Oh for the love of God." Jess grunted, handing Lily her clutch as she slipped her jacket off her shoulders and down her arms. She hung it up on the coat rack next to her, taking the clutch back from Lily's hands.ย

Lily shook her head with a smile as she looked at Jess. She was wearing a long burgundy dress that fit around her body like a glove. Lily had curled her hair and done her makeup perfectly, giving herself a round of applause when Jess left her room fully dressed.ย

"Why are you smiling?" Jess whispered to Lily.ย

"Because you look hot." Lily stated plainly, "I mean Jesus Jess when did you get those?" She reached her hand out towards her chest.ย

Jess slapped her hand down, "Okay, you guys go get a drink and have fun." She said, wrapping her arm around Matt's as they walked off. Jess turned around last minute, pointing at Lily. "But not that much fun." She pointed suggestively.ย

Jess and Matt began walking as music bounced off the walls of the ballroom. People danced with one another while others chatted around cocktail tables with drinks in their hand.ย

"Lily wasn't wrong, you do look hot tonight." Matt smirked, bringing Jess closer to him as he tugged his arm closer to his body.ย

"How do you know?" Jess chuckled, "You can't even see me. For all you know I could be wearing a trash bag over my body."ย

"A trash bag wouldn't be making heartrates rise." He said, turning his head towards Jess. "Or turning heads."ย

They both stopped as a body stood in front of them. The black haired man standing before them let a smile wipe across his lips as he put his hand out.ย

"Jessie? It's so nice to see you again." He smiled, taking Jess's hand. "I haven't seen you since you where a young girl!"

Jess felt her heart drop to her stomach. Shit.

"Sam! Y-yeah, it's been a while since I've stopped by." She clutched her hand around Matt's arm, "We're actually in a bit of a rush right now, we need to-"

"And you must be a very lucky man, walking in here with such a beautiful woman." He said, taking Matt's hand in his and shaking it. "Is this your husband, Jessie?" He questioned, turning his head towards Jess again.ย

"Yes." Matt said, a wide smile overtaking his lips. "It's very lovely to meet you, sir." He said, shaking Sam's hand.ย

Jess had her head turned towards Matt as an awkwardly surprised smile wiped across her red lips.ย

Did he just say we're married?

"Well Jessie, why wasn't I invited to the wedding? You know, your father never mentioned to me that you got married-"

"It was a small wedding." Jess explained, cutting him off as thoughts circled her mind.

"We eloped." Matt shrugged. "Nobody but two of our friends where there. A very short ceremony."

"Ah I see." Sam said, "Well I just hope you at least had tulips at your wedding." He looked at Matt. "When she was younger she went ballistic over tulips. Every dress she wore had to have tulips on it." He laughed.

"Oh we had plenty of tulips." Matt forced a laugh. "Tulips for days."ย

"Sam it was lovely seeing you again but we have to go." Jess cut him off before he spoke rushingly. "We uh-"

"Our daughter's at home with the babysitter." Matt said, making Jess look over with a very confused expression on her face. He nudged her arm, making her expression change to a grin. "We just wanted to stop by real quick to say hello to a couple people."

Sam nodded, "By all means then," he smiled once again. "It was so nice seeing you. Me and Jerrie will have to catch dinner with you both sometime soon."ย

"Yes, of course." Jess grinned, "Honey, we better get back home before Paige falls asleep."ย

"Right," Matt said, facing Sam again. "Very nice meeting you sir."ย

"You as well." Sam said, just as the pair walked off with one another.ย

Matt and Jess both rushed towards the stairwell together, their arms still locked with the other persons.ย

"We're married?" Jess questioned as they rushed together.ย

"It was that or he kept asking questions." Matt shrugged, "I chose for you to become Mrs. Murdock for the night."

"I mean I'm not complaining, you could have at least warned me though before you started playing the game of life with me."ย

Matt stopped in his tracks, turning his head to the side as he listened around the room.ย

"Upstairs to the right. Room closest to the window, that's Fisk's office." Matt said, "Come on." He urged, pulling Jess back to his side as he dipped his hand down to her waist, holding her close to him as they made their way towards the stairwell.ย

They both pushed through the doors leading to the offices simultaneously.ย

"Jessie?" Matt questioned as they walked, turning his head toward Jess. "Your names Jessie?"ย

Jess took a deep breath, "Yeah." She paused, "But I go by Jess. I haven't been called Jessie since I was a teenager."ย

"Was that around the same time your dad used to take you to galas?" Matt asked as his head turned towards her. "Is he here tonight? Is that why you where nervous to come?"

"Yes." She stated simply, trying to avoid the subject. "I would rather not run into him. Me and him aren't necessary sympatico."ย

"I wasn't planning on it." Matt stated. "I didn't even ask for his blessing before I married you, It would be rude for me to just show up."

Jess smiled as she let out a small laugh, somehow the tension of the evening being brought down by his humor.ย

The pair both stopped in front of the office, walking into the large office with white walls and gold accents surrounding the wood desk in the middle.ย

Jess shut the door quietly behind the pair as they let each others arms go. Jess immediately headed for Fisk's laptop, opening it up as the screen grew light again.ย

Matt came behind her, sitting down in Fisk's chair as she hovered next to him, scrolling through his laptop.ย

"What do you see?" Matt questioned.ย

"Approval for building sights, speeches, Donation bills." She continued clicking around the screen, until finally she stopped. She leaned her head in, looking at the words on the screen.

"What is it?" Matt asked curious.ย

"He spent $4,000 at an armor shop." She pulled out a notepad from inside the desk, grabbing a pen as she began to write down the address. A smile crept across her face, "And paid an additional $15,000 to the local police department."ย

She clicked on the file that had the police department listed, scrolling through a list of names.ย

"Holy shit." She said while looking, "That cop that shot the Russian, Fisk was paying him an additional million to keep everything quiet. Along with officer Ranford, Michaelson, and Smith."

She wrote down their names on the same sheet of paper as before, looking back occasionally as she copied the names. "The only officer who wasn't getting paid was Oscar Farmington. Next to his name it says 'check canceled and disconcluded.'"ย

"Maybe he wasn't okay with Fisk's deal." Matt suggested.ย

"By why would Fisk risk him going to the public with that information?" Jess questioned.ย

"Who would he go to? The cops?" Matt questioned. "Write down his name and we'll pay him a visit. We'll see what really happened."ย

Jess began clicking at the screen once again, finding another list of names with paycheck dates next to them. She scrolled her eyes over the names, finding her gaze stuck on one.

Michael Morris - $16,000 on 12/17

Jess cocked her head, reading over his name again.ย

Michael Morris - $16,000 on 12/17 - Ruth and Jansonย legal departmentย

Her heart dropped at the sight of the words.ย

No, it can't be him. He saw what happened to me, he hated Fisk, why would he now be supporting him?

A loud scream erupted throughout the building as both Jess and Matt peaked their heads up.

ย Matt pushed himself from the chair and Jess grabbed the list from the desk as both of them hurried out of the room, hand in hand as alarms went off above them. Screams continued to erupt downstairs as they headed closer.

"What the hell was that?" Jess questioned as they hurried down the stairs.

"The people downstairs, they're having seizures." Matt said, pushing through the final door as they made their way back into the ballroom.ย

People where screaming as glasses dropped to the floor, shattering sounds filling the walls of the building. The band had stopped playing as loud yells erupted around them.

A woman next to Jess dropped her glass, collapsing into Jess's arms as foam began to fuse from her mouth.ย

"Shit." Jess said, placing her down to the ground and flipping her to her side. "Someone did something to these drinks." She lifted her head up, yelling. "Someone call 9-1-1!" She yelled.ย

"Jess! We need to get out of here." Lily said, pulling Foggy behind her who's tie was unraveled and thrown over his shoulder. "Someone tampered with the drinks here and these people are dropping like flies." She said worried.ย

"Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit." Jess mumbled as she stood up, being met by Matt's arm as the group all rushed for the door.ย

Jess looked around, seeing people drop one by one to the floor. Foam escaping from their mouth as they shook uncontrollably on the ground.ย

Just as they where about to leave the building, one scream overtook the entire room. Jess looked back as she saw a woman collapse into Fisk's hands. His face was worried and sorrowful as he tried to help her, flipping her over to her side as he yelled at his bodyguards to do something.ย

His eyes left the bodyguard, focusing to the side where he met Jess's eyes.ย

Jess felt her heart drop to her stomach as her feet planted into the floor below her. She was paralyzed, she couldn't move or even speak.

The look on Wilsons face changed from worried to angry. He shook his head side to side as he mouthed the words,ย

Killer

Jess took a deep breath as water began to pool the lines of her eyes. She wanted to tell him it wasn't her. She wasn't a killer, she wasn't responsible for this. But she couldn't, because she couldn't even move. Everything around her was stuck, moving slowly on a terribly slow and painful carousel.ย

ย Her attention was drawn back to Matt who moved in front of her, placing his hand on Jess's face.ย

"Jess." He called out worried. "Jess are you okay?"

All she could do was nod her head as she swallowed hard.ย

"We need to get out of here, okay?" Matt said, grabbing a hold of her hand and pulling her to his side as he guided her out of the building.ย

Everything moved slowly around her as she watched people drop to the ground one by one, until finally she was lead out of the building.ย

For the first time in years sheer panic arose in Jess's body as they all sat in a cab together. That look Fisk had given, it was a look that she had never seen before. It was a look of fear, he was fearful of her.ย

Jess thought she would be happy about seeing that look. She would be proud about the fact that he was scared of her power and what she could do. Only this time though, now that it had actually happened, she wasn't happy or proud. Because she knew what would happen next and that is what scared her most.

Wilson Fisk believed she was responsible for this, and he would pay her back no matter what it took. He would pay back a killer.

A kill for a kill.

A/N- So...I don't want to say much for the sake of me not spoiling the next few chapters because boy we have a shit ton going on.ย

This chapter was one of the first ones in a while that I actually enjoyed. Typically I do enjoy my chapters but this one was really special to me for some reason. I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter as much as I did and don't forget to leave any feedback you may have, criticism or not I love it all lol.

I will have the next chapter out next Friday so keep a lookout for that. Have a great rest of your weeks and stay safe and healthy.ย
