Charlotte, Hatred, and Picnics
Steve left with Jessy after they had met the gang, and it was obvious that he was taking her out...or was she? Only Jessy knew, because she hopped in the drivers seat of Steve's car driving 145 miles per hour to get to a drive-thru restaurant.
Steve laughed when Jessy demanded extra grease on the chicken tenders. She then told him to stop laughing and it was a serious matter. She proceeded then to get the food he hated the most. Steve tried to refuse, but Jessy forced him to order it.
"I hate the way that food looks," she replied without emotion, "and if you don't like that food, you shouldn't be with me. Because I am on a strict diet."
Steve cocked an eyebrow confused at Jessy's statement. "You don't need to be on a diet Jess. You are super thin. I like the way you look," he added with a smirk. Jessy then tossed her wallet out the window.
"You are paying Steven. You said you didn't love me. I bet you really don't like me, and you think I'm ugly," Jessy was close to tears. Steve instantly panicked. He got out of the car, grabbed her wallet, and hopped back into the passenger seat.
"No Jessy," he out his hand on her shoulder, by which Jessy instantly pushed away. "I love your body. I was just nervous because I didn't know if that would sound weird on a first date."
Jessy gave him a glare. "So you think I'm weird, and you are insecure of yourself then? Well then Steven, by all means don't speak your mind and keep secrets from me. If we can't be on the same page, then I don't know how this is going to work, and it sucks."
Steve was starting to get upset. This wasn't the hot, mysterious girl he had met in the heat yesterday evening. This was a mean, viper. But maybe he had said something that had made her upset. After all, she had a very bad home life; maybe her parents were abusive and she had failed relationships. Maybe Steve had triggered something. Maybe Jessy was insecure about her body and all she wanted was love. All of these thoughts were racing through Steve's mind. His face filled with worry as he just sat staring at the dashboard, guilty.
"Jessy I'm really, really sorry for messing this up," Steve looked down. He made eye contact with her again. "I just wanted to make this a really special date for you, and I ruined it."
"You almost ruined it. But you know, I can never trust guys. They always lie and cheat and trick."
Steve sighed. He knew it. She did have bad relationships with guys. "Hey I have a way I can make it up to you," he exclaimed. Jessy cocked her eyebrow.
"How?"
"Let me take you to the lot. It's really nice. All us greasers have rumbles with the Socs there. We won a big one last year. I was a big fighter," Steve said proudly. Jessy shook her head.
"Naw I'd say Darry was the strongest. You're short."
Steve's pride was instantly broken. His height. He was the shortest in the gang and was still picked on at school for his height. A senior in High School and 5 foot 7. Yeah super tuff.
"At least I got my looks though," he added. Jessy wrinkles her nose.
"I'd say you are the fourth hottest."
Steve nearly choked. Fourth? Steve thought he looked better than fourth.
"Johnny is the hottest," Jessy said through her bites of chicken. "Then Darry. Then Soda. Then you."
"Why is Johnny hotter than me? He looks like he's twelve."
"I love his baby face and the leanness of his body. He is the hottest greaser of the gang. But he's taken, so I'm not going to make a move," Jessy looked at Steve who's expression was in shock. "What?" Jessy looked at him.
"Nothing I just thought you thought I liked me."
"That's really mean of you to say. Your looks are just not as good as others, is that a problem?"
Steve shrugged. "I guess not."
Jessy nodded. "Good. Well then, let's go to this so called lot."
Steve nodded. "Yeah let's go."
They drove off, and Jessy was talking about something, but Steve was tuned out. What she said him really crushed him. Okay, it was apparent that 90% of girls liked Soda better than Steve. Hence he hated to bring new girls to meet the gang, because once they saw either Soda or Dally, they'd ditch him.
It wasn't like he had a vendetta against Soda or Dallas. Steve really wasn't blessed with the best looks in his opinion compared the rest of the guys. Steve knew his crooked and bent teeth were his major downfall, along with his stupid nose that was always getting broken.
"STEVE!" Jessy snapped him out of it. He looked at her, hatred blazing in her eyes for his daydreaming.
"Hey I'm sorry," Steve looked at her, who seemed both disappointed and pleased a the same time, which was odd.
They stopped at the lot, and Steve groaned when he saw who was smoking a cigarette by the tree. It was Charlotte. The trashiest girl in town. She topped Sylvia, even though both had equal ways of getting to guys. Charlotte just got to them first. Of course she was best friends with Sylvia. Good thing she wasn't there. But Steve prayed to god that Charlotte was not here to reprimand him about breaking up with Evie.
"Oh who's that?" Jessy asked. Charlotte already heard what she said, like the psycho she was. She threw down her cigarette and walked to the car, and out her hand on Steve's bicep.
"Whatcha up to lately Randle?" She asked him. Steve instantly pulled away from her and literally just wanted to crawl into the trunk.
"Just taking this lovely girl out to lunch," he looked at Jessy, which brighter this dark situation. Charlotte rolled her eyes.
"How many months until you break up with this one?" She replied. Steve was concerned, but Jessy was not even dazed.
"If we do break up in a few months at least it will be months. All your guys view you as a fun time. You are also wearing way too much makeup."
Charlotte took it personally but didn't show it. "Where is Dallas?"
Jessy nearly vomited. "In hell I hope. Why do you want him near you?"
Charlotte smiled. "He is literally the greatest turn on of the century."
Jessy gave a look of disgust. "He is the greatest turn off. No one in this whole universe should like Dallas....especially in that way." Jessy gagged.
Steve giggled. "She hates Dal for some reason."
Charlottes laugh was extremely cringy. "Well I don't know why. Dallas is an amazing kisser. I made out with him the other night," she said so sweetly, but Steve cut her off. Steve knew Charlotte would just make gross nights at the bar. Not the type of things he wanted to hear.
Good thing Jessy hated Charlotte because of Charlotte's sexual infatuation with Dallas Winston.
