I thought it might have been upset by something I ate.. So I lay down to sleep, " She whispered and I frowned. "Then, I woke up and saw the sheets red with blood. I panicked, thinking it to be my monthlies.. But I realised.. I was pregnant.... So I couldn't have monthlies.. Right? " She asked, her voice caught up in her throat as she looked at me with wide, unknowing eyes..

The women in the room gasped.. While I felt Nakul's life leave his soul.

"Mini, you lost -you lost your baby. " I forced out, crossing my eyes shut, preparing for a stream of curses to fly to me.. But when I opened them, she looked broken. Simply broken.

I raised my hands to hug her but she stopped me, getting up mindlessly as a zombie and stopped in front of Sahdev.

" Tell me.. Is she right? " She asked him softly, her voice cold and detched. She placed one arm on his cheek and he shuddered, sobs wracking his body.

" You won't answer? "She said then turned to Nakul, who looked away, his jaw tight.

" Nakul... Nakul? Tell me.. Is that true? " She asked and when he too refused to answer, she stood in front of Yudhishthir, who looked grave.

" Jiju... You won't lie. You never will. Tell me.. Is didi right? Did I -did I lose my baby? " She asked him and though he tried to remain silent, the Yudhishthir in him spoke out...

" Yes, " He choked out, " Yes, your didi is right. " He said and closed his eyes, attemting to tame his breath.

Mini, who now learnt the truth, staggered back, right into Sahdev's arms as she looked up at his tearful face.

" I'm sorry -" He began, but she stood up, running out of the room.

While I began to follow her, Sudhuma held me back, " She needs to be alone -"

" She needs her mother. Now more than ever. I may not be her mother... But I am all she has close to it, " I said, shucking my hands out of hers and running after my sister.. Who I couldn't find anywhere.

" Mini! " I screamed, looking into the halls, searching all the rooms.

" Mini! Please! I know mumma isn't here! But I am! Please... Come sit by me! I know you feel like killing yourself too.. But please! " I shouted, nearly collapsing out of exhaustion when I saw her, standing at the ledge of a window.

" Mini! " I breathed, rushing over to her.

Her eyes were red, her kajal smeared down her eyes and she looked out at the world coldly.

" This is your fault, " She whispered and I looked up confused

" What?" I asked and she snapped her head to me.

" If you hadn't bet upon yourself in the sabha, none of this would have happened! You let Madhu grow up five years without your love! " No! No! No! No? STAY AWAY! YOU HAVE RUINED ENOUGH! " She screamed and Sahdev went over to hold her, guiding her away.

" She -she hates me! " I cried while he tried to shush me, but it didn't matter.

I had become a villain in my sister's eyes.. And I didn't know what to do now.
