Dotty was zipping all around the kitchen adding to the mixing bowl with different spices I've never seen her moved so quick baking and icing the cake with her neat handship she set the cake on the window sill to cool off and headed upstairs I sat and waited downstairs for some reason she  was up there for a while I looked at the watch on my wrist what the hell dotty ?

NASH'S POV

What the fuck was she doing up there ? The clock on the wall seemed to be drawing closer and closer to the time I played with chewy to keep my mind off things don't think about it don't think about it I murmured to myself Unknowingly pacing back and forth that's it I said while placing  chewy on the floor dotty we gotta go now !!! Coming she hummed

When she walked downstairs she looked like a completely different person her outrageous curls were flattened down her long nails were gone and her glasses weren't as pointy she was wearing a simple black dress with a white lace trimming my jaw was on the floor dotty you look amazing you think so she smiled going into the kitchen to grab the cake so do you are you all ready to go ? I shook my head while we turned the lights off and walked down the drive way nervous ? No no sweet pea I'm fine do I have anything in my teeth ? No I chuckled your fine

All the lights were on in the house and I could see the silhouette of the guys through the windows ready ? Yep I nocked lightly on the door hey Nash two smiled ooh wee who Is this fine young lady here ? This is dotty my aunt so your famous dotty
I've heard about he grinned yeah that's me dotty's cheeks were reder than her pick up truck well what are ya'll still standing out there for ? I don't know two you tell me ? As soon as we stepped in everyone's eyes were glued on dotty dotty I sighed this is Johnny two bit soda dally and Steve everybody this is dotty good evening dotty smiled while doing a small wave

I rolled my eyes where's pony ? upstairs I think I watched dotty while I walked up the steps seeing dotty smile and introduce herself I walked up to pony's door and cracked it open pony you in there ? But there was no answer I opened the door fully but the room was empty I peeked my head in both soda and Darry's room but still nothing think Nash think where's the one place he likes to go to be alone and then it hit me the back porch soda actually told me that that's his favourite spot to watch the sunsets or when he had a lot on his mind

And It seemed only right for him to be out there especially for tonight by the time I went downstairs dotty had already made friends with Darry and the gang it was almost as if they were gossiping and sharing stories amongst themselves I slowly crept away from them and to the door and there I found pony sitting on the stoop with his head rested on his arms he looked up and smiled at me with his glimmering eyes can I join you ? Of course he said while patting the spot beside him we sat in a blissful silence watching the sky and all it's orange glory

A little nervous I sighed dotty's inside becoming best buddy's with everyone probably sharing recipes with Darry I chuckled they're all having a wonderful time and we're gonna come in and ruin everything I said while looking down at my hands Nash look at me if your having second thoughts I'll tell Darry the dinner is off no no he spent all that time cooking and dotty was up all night baking and it's not fair to them or the gang either come here he smiled while pulling me into a bear hug I've always liked that about you like what ?

How selfless you are and how you put other peoples feelings before yourself that's why I love you and I know he said while getting down on one knee I didn't properly propose to you when we talked over the phone my heart was beating so fast it sounded like a drum I watched pony's hands when he reached into his pockets he held out a small grey  box in the palm of his hand so will you do me the honour again and marry me  for real this time he chuckled

Yes I giggled it'll always be yes over and over he scooped me up in his arms and spun me around before placing me back down on the ground I watched the diamonds glitter while pony slipped the ring on my finger I was shot with happiness but also panic knowing what we were about to do we stood there staring at the house ready ?He smiled ready we walked hand in hand through the hallway and into the kitchen dotty was getting the table set for dinner the boys sat eagerly waiting for Darry's famous baked chicken me and pony slid in our seats just in time when Darry walked out with the pan

The aroma of hot gravy and biscuits filled the air alright who wants to say grace ? Dally raised his hand no dally Darry sighed not after that prayer you gave at lagoon what ? Ya'll still breathing ain't ya and thanks to you he chuckled does anyone else want to say grace ? Food's gonna get cold I will dotty said shyly ok Darry smiled dear lord bless this food and everyone that helped make it and please let this food be nourishing  and good for our bodies amen I squeezed pony's hand he looked at me with soft eyes now ? He whispered now I whispered back I cleared my throat while standing up

Me and pony have an announcement to make I could feel sweat beginning to form on my brow everyone stopped what they were doing and focused they're attention on us well what's going on ? Darry smiled yeah sweet heart what's up ? Dotty added me and pony are um we're Engaged there was no response at first I felt like little kid who had told there parents what they had done and awaiting punishment no one said a word they're were only blank stares and wide eyes I did my best not to look at dotty but I could feel her eyes on me like darts the look on Darry's face was a frightful thing to watch his eyebrows were twitching so fast as if they were typing up something to say you what !? He said in a husky voice

We got engaged but when did this happen ? dotty said calmly before we went to the lagoon after we had that conversation ? I swallowed hard yes pony what the hell were you thinking ? What're you guys gonna do drop out of school cuz you can't survive without school his Voice began to rise we're not gonna drop out dare the plan was to wait after graduation we just wanted you guys to know pony your not even making any sense you guys have your whole life ahead of you why throw it away like this ? I mean do you even have a ring ? He does I said while holding up my hand is this why you asked to make dinner to gather all of us together for ? Yes I said softly

Well it was a fine dinner Darry said while getting up from the table but if you'll excuse me I have work in the morning I'm sure you all know how to see yourself's out they're was a fresh coat of silence that I'd never felt before I could feel my ears getting hot and tears beginning to form in my eyes well dotty said while dabbing her mouth with a rag it was really nice meeting you all but I'd think I better get going I'm beat awe you sure ? Soda frowned yeah if I stay any longer I won't want to leave or I may get fat from the food she giggled yeah you've gotta come back and bake some more Awe thank you Steve maybe I will if it's alright with you guys ? Are you kiddin we're practically family now you'd better be over here two added

Dotty's smile faded a little I guess we are I watched dotty as she walked passed me and pony like we were invisible you all have a good night and just like that she was out of the door I felt like I was gonna blow hey kid dally said while walking over to me and pony I ain't normally the best at these things but I already consider you family yeah me to Johnny added we all do two smiled don't worry about dare when he yells like that he just cares a lot is all he don't mean no harm he really does care about you Nash i know I sniffled thanks soda and all of you to you know I've never told you guys this face to face but I truly love all of you so much you guys have given me a family that I hadn't had after my parents died and I wanna thank you for making me feel at home we love you too two bit grinned

Group hug ? Group hug I chuckled I closed my eyes and let they're warmth surround me there was no place I'd rather be than here in this moment with them if only I could share it with dotty and Darry like a whole family that would make it worth wild
