Chapter 3: Why not?
"Dad I got the idea of it now can I go?"
"No."
"Why not!?"
"I want you to see something."
"Does it have anything do do with school"
"Nope"
"Okie dokie then"
At that I got up and followed him to his office where a holographic screen opened up, security footage from what looked to be a bank recorded. Two people in black hoodies burst in and started aiming guns, rounding the people in the building into a corner. The other man went up to a woman behind a counter, screaming at her and the other employees.
The woman opened the gate and the man went through to the back while the other put the employees in the corner as well. In a flash of red the man with the hostages was pulled up to the ceiling by a rope like thing. Then another man, lanky, and wearing a costume, checked on the hostages, letting them out of the building. The other man came out of the back with a few bags of money and the hero shot him with... some sort of white sticky fluid? Then he jumped onto him and slammed him into the wall, sticking him there with more of the fluid. "Didn't your parents tell you stealing was wrong? Come on man, get a job." The hero said, before dialing the phone behind the counter and running out. The footage stopped when the police walked in.
"Who's that?" I asked, amazed at how fast he stopped the men. "That's what I'm trying to find out. Oh and also, I'm sending you to a public school in.... Queens I think. Or Brooklyn." "Dad what the heck? Yesterday you told me 'it wasn't a good idea to send me around a bunch of hormonal teens who would pick at me until I kicked their asses to the next continent'" he shrugged. "I changed my mind. And besides, you need friends you loser." I gasped, but gave in. He was right; I needed to at least have a few friends my age. I couldn't see a bad side to it, because as he made clear I could always punch them.
So I was set to go to the school in the middle of the second semester. From what Pepper told me, it wouldn't be too fun jumping in at that stage; no one really talks to you when you're that new.
"Give it a few weeks Amy. You'll do fine." "Guys" "In fact you'll be at the top of your class" "guys" "soon enough you'll be hopping around the school like you own the place" "GUYS" I said, louder now. Pepper and dad looked at me, eyebrows furrowed. "What am I gonna tell them?" There was a silence for a minute. "What exactly do you mean Nemo?" My dad broke the silence. "My. Last. Name! What am I gonna say? 'Hey there what's your name?' 'Oh hi I'm Amelia Stark!' 'Like Tony Stark?' 'YES! EXACTLY LIKE TONY STARK IM HIS FLIPPING DAUGHTER'" I said, shoulders slumping. Dads mouth formed an o shape.
Then he looked back up. "Don't say you're my kid! Easy. Stark is a pretty normal name I think..." he mumbled. "You think? I can't think my way out of a crowd of reporters when the world finds out you have a small superpowered teenage daughter!" He shushed me and poured himself some Cabernet, taking a sip before shrugging and liking back over at me. "Just don't tell them I'm your kid. Ooh! Here's a plan!" He said, seeing Steve enter. He smacked the blondes butt as he walked past. "This mighty steed can drive you and you can say he's your dad!" I stared for a moment, completely in shock. "You want me to walk into a classroom... and say that THATS my dad?! THE GIRLS WILL GET THIRSTY AS HELL OVER MY FAKE FATHER-" "I- I would like to be excluded-" "sorry blonde you're in-" "I'm so confused" "THAT MAN IS HOT AND LIKE EIGHTY YEARS OLD I AM NOT-"
"Alright alright" Natasha walked in. "I'm your mom, I'm single, your last name is Thompson" she said, silencing the entire room. "This is why I love you" I said. "But... what if the other girls are lesbian-" "DONT-" "yessir"
