Code Names

Bruce was wrapping up Peter's foot when he noticed Xerox. He was standing still and shaking slightly with a uncomfortable expression on his face.

"Xerox, are you okay?" Peter asked him, concern lacing his voice. Xerox snapped his head towards Peter and shook his head. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm...I'm fine."

"It's Hydra." Xerox snapped his head to Helena this time, whom the words came from. "No, why would it be Hydra?" Helena was now slowly walking towards X. "You can relax, X. Hydra can't get you here. You have the Avengers and an entire group of super powered kids here, there's no way they would be able to take you away." Xerox let out a shaky breath and nodded.

Helena's eyes glowed green as she took his hands in hers. "Relax, okay? Nothing is going on up here. Let's head back to the camp." X nodded to this and turned around. "I'll be back to finish this later." "O-okay." Bruce answered. Helena followed X down the stairs and the pair disappeared from sight.

"Did you know that she could do that?" "Not at all."

Wanda and Hela had set out a mental message to everyone saying to meet up by the 'circle of logs and rocks in front of the boys' cabin.' Nobody understood what they meant until they get there.

Harley and Elijah were already there, sitting down. Xerox and Helena were next to arrive. Soon, everyone else was sitting down at the campfire-area.

"I thought I told you guys not to bring anything else here," Loki said, once he arrived.

"No, you said to stop bringing logs; you never said anything about rocks," Elijah answered. Next to him, Harley was smirking.

It was the the evening by now, and everyone was ready to relax. Tony was rubbing his hands together while standing in front of the group.

"Okay, so you guys know that the first challenge has been postponed. This was because people that we were waiting for were running late." Nobody said anything, so he continued. "This, for lack of a better word, game is for more than just a spot on the Avengers team. The last person eliminated will be joining the Guardians of the Galaxy in space!"

Silence. Except this time everyone was shocked. As if on queue, strong gusts of wind came down. Everyone looked up, and there was an orange and blue ship. The ship landed in front of the girls' cabin. When they walked out, there was a green, blue, and yellow lady, a tree, a raccoon, a grey dude, a blue guy with what looked like a plastic mohawk, and two human-looking guys, and a human looking girl.

Tony rushed over to stand next to them.

"This is Gamora, Nebula, Groot, Rocket, Drax, Mantis, Kraglin, Yondu, Peter, and Alex." They all stood in a line, and when nobody said anything after that, Peter spoke.

"Is nobody gonna speak? Okay then, well I'm known as Star-Lord-"

       "No he's not," Rocket interrupted.

"And I'm kind of like their leader-"

"He's definitely not that," Nebula cut off.

       "And this is my family,-"

       "I am Groot."

"I know that they don't think that, Groot-"

"We've been together for over a decade and they still can't get that into their thick skulls," Alex stated.

"My skull is thick; almost nothing can penetrate it."

"Will you guys shut it! We're here for an important reason, NOT to squabble," Gamora instructed.

Silence fell over the group and Gamora took over the speech.

"S.W.O.R.D. wants to send someone to other planets that we haven't been able to get to yet, but they don't have the tech available to do it. So, they want to send someone with us. We got in contact with the Avengers, and two of you will come with us. One of the Avengers, which has already been chosen, and one of you kids. This competition will not only tell us who's going to replace the Avengers, but will also tell us who is fit to accompany us."

She then, along with Nebula, walked over to the other adults.

"Yyyyeeeeeah, what she said," Quill added while pointing to her before following. The rest of the guardians (and Tony) followed as well, except for Mantis and Alex, who sat with the rest of the kids.

"My name is Mantis. What are you guys doing?" she asked, curiosity written on her face. "We were just talking about something that Shuri was working on, but I guess the subject should probably change now since that was something really important that was just said." "Well, code names would be a good thing to know, since you guys are gonna be the next Avengers and all," Alex added.

"I think that I'm just gonna stick with Spider-Man," Peter said. "What about you, Sin?"

"Sin is a pretty good code name in itself."

"If we're aloud to use nicknames, then I'm gonna go with X," Xerox stated.

"I feel like we should have a fire, it's getting pretty cold," Katrina said. She honestly wasn't, but could tell the change in temperature probably wasn't the most comfortable for everyone else.

"Yeah." "That would be nice." "Mhmm."

Harley started to get up, but Lena summoned some fire in her left hand.

Mantis leaned back instantly, while Alex leaned forward.

"That is so cool!" she told Lena as she shot it at the middle area. There were already stones surrounding it, but not many sticks were actually in it. "Actually, it's hot. And it's going to burn out soon if we don't get more fuel."  Harley got up for real this time and silently went to grab some more sticks.

"You should be 'Torch'," Katrina said. "But that sounds like 'Human Torch', she should do something like 'Fire Maiden'," Diamond said. "How about 'Torch Princess'?" "That seems pretty cool," Daisy answered. Mantis watched on as they continued to converse.

"I think I'm gonna go by 'Eclipse', it matches the whole space theme-thing. Plus it sounds cool," Alex said, already blending with the other kids.

"I'm gonna stick with Quake, it's a good name that I've been using for a while. I don't think it needs to be changed."

"I'm sticking with GwenPool then, it's a classic." "Gwen, it's your real name." "So?" Harley rolled his eyes. "Imma stick with Iron-Lad, then. I don't think anyone could completely replace them on the team." "I'll go with Dove, then. My suit is all white, anyway," Shuri added.

"Why'd you go with a bird anyway? Why not a cat?" Madhu asked. "I wanted to be the opposite of a cat, but if I went with dog I'd have to choose a name like 'Labrador' and that's not a very cool name." A few of them laughed.

"I like the name 'Mystery' then. It gives of a mysterious vibe," Madhu said. "The name is 'Mystery', of course it gives off a mysterious vibe," Josh said, not looking up from his book in the process. Maddy rolled her eyes.

"Well, if Lena's gonna be Torch Princess, then I'm gonna be Ice Queen!" "Whatever you say, Elsa," Winter said, sarcastically. "Says the girl named Winter," Thomas added. "Tommy, your code name is 'Speed', you don't have a right to say anything."

"Ooooh," was heard from some others.

Billy patted Tommy on the back. "She's got you there, buddy." He rolled his eyes and ignored them. "What what do you want your code name to be, Winter?"

"I was thinking 'Wisp' since my only natural abilities are teleportation and glowing in the dark." "So you're a glow stick?" Alex asked in a monotone voice. "Yeah, basically."

"I like the sound of Patriot. It fits the whole 'American Hero/Captain America Sidekick' theme," Elijah said. "If we're about to go with names like that, I want to be 'Miss America'," America said.

"Do you guys seriously think it's safe to keep putting your real names out in the world?" Joshua asked while closing his book, his attention now fully on the conversation. "Because that seems really dangerous since you guys actually live here."

"Well, what do you want your name to be, then?" Helena asked.

"What do you want yours to be?"

       "I asked first, Josh."

"But I asked second, and two is better than one."

"I'm pretty sure having one of your friends die would be better than having two of your friends die."

       "Hold up—"

"It depends on how much you care about your friends."

       "Wait a minute—"

"Fine, I was thinking 'Death' would be a cool code name, since my mother is the Goddess of Death."

"Can we stop for a second—"

"I was planning on going with 'Mischief for the same reason. Except with my father."

"Hold on! Are we just gonna gloss over the fact that Helena's example was about death?!" Vivian asked.

"So is her code name, what's your point?" Winter asked in return.

"Changing the subject, I think I'll just go with Fury," Noah said.

       "Again with the real names!"

"I think I'll use 'Wicked Siren'," Nisha stated, looking pretty confident in the name.

"That sounds like a name of a play," Madhumitha informed her.

"You know what, it kind of does."

"I'll be Stinger," Cassie stated. "It fits pretty well."

"Yeah, by the way, how did dad react when you told him you had powers?"

"What?!" Scott asked from the adult area. Only about half of them were actually apart of their conversation; him not being one of them.

Cassie sighed. "Life-long exposure to the Pym Particles gave me the ability to shrink and grow without a suit."

"Why didn't you tell me this?"

"Because I knew you would react like this!" Cassie got up and started walking towards her father so that they can talk more privately.

Mantis leaned over to Alex. "Should we get some popcorn?" "No, but it would be pretty good right now."

"Continuing the pattern of relatives, I wanna be Moonlight!" "If this is a pattern, shouldn't I have gone after Noah? And Evelinne after Gwen or something like that?" Nathan pointed out. "I just wanted to go, okay?"

"Well, I wanna be Cosmo." Noah nodded at his choice; somewhat following in their mother's footsteps while he follows in their father's. If they're gonna potentially replace their parents, they should at least honor them. "That's a good name."

"I like Grim Reaper for me. It seems like a scary name," Allison said.

"Continuing with the 'pattern', I'm 'Wolf'," Silver said.

"And I guess I'm 'Divrgent'," added Evelline.

"And it's settled. We now all have amazing Superhero names! Now some of us just need costumes," Winter said, sarcastically. "This is gonna be a great summer."

This is exactly 1900 words.

Wow.

This is, by far, the longest thing I have ever written.

And it's honestly not a lot.

I could probably go further with this if I wanted to.

Anyway, I would like to specify that I'm not making fun of any of your chosen Code Names. I'm  just trying to creat conversation.

Please let me know if I forgot anyone, I really tried my best to keep track of them all.

Also, PLOT TWIST!

You can find Alex in the last part of the cast, now.

She is an OC from InThe6-900Range.

And I really wanna know, who's your favorite character (other than your own) in the story so far?
