Well damn, that...wasn't supposed to get sentimental this fast!
I mean sure, I had hoped that knowing how jujutsu kaisen took place in a remotely close universe to mine that a version of my family was going about. The utter joy I felt upon seeing a younger and animated version of my mother plummeted the moment I didn't see a tiny version of myself.
Not going to lie, it hurts. Knowing I didn't exist to my family's anime counterparts was like a punch to the gut, and I quickly realized that seeking them would be useless. Still, I left a clone there to keep an eye on them and help when necessary. They might not be the same, but they were still family.
But I digress, I never thought THE Toji would try to comfort me!
I mean, he's always scowling when I'm around and, sure, that's understandable. Having a complete stranger crash into your house just to take care of your child without you knowing was as pleasant as getting repeatedly punched to the guts by some old samurai guy. Why this example—but anyway, what can I say? Baby Gumi is just too adorable!! And the little guy seems to like me a lot since he only smiles in my presence, otherwise, he'd keep that thousand yard stare he and his father were pros in.
Anyway, I'm stuck here for who knows how long since the dipshit messenger told me that the Higher-ups were all simping for Toji- can't blame them honestly- and want to see how the man will behave in my presence.
I mean, sure. I guess I can do that.
I'll start by keeping Megumi happy and maybe go to Sendai one of these days to see Itadori since the boy must be an adorable baby at this time! And perhaps get rid of a certain brain tumor in the process.
I noticed how, after our discussion last time, Toji seemed more...nicer towards me. By nice I mean, no more scowling and growling in my presence and I'd sometimes catch him looking at me weirdly whenever I'm holding Gumi in my arms or pampering him.
Alright pause— I seriously love babies but I ain't ready to have one myself, shit must hurt as hell and periods are already too much for me to handle, though I could, maybe if I turn off my nociceptors...but that's an issue for another time—
Granted, it's not like I wasn't ogling at him EVERYDAY-have you seen the man?! Bastard's fuckin gorgeous for fuck's sake.
'He better not catch these feelings 'cause I would immediately give myself to hi-'
OH how hard was it not to simp every time I see him. I think this is the only time I'm not mad at the higher-ups for dumping me in a new franchise! And they seem to be doing it more often but who am I to complain?
I was currently out shopping 'cause it was my first time being in a remotely modern Japan and my weeb ass wanted to see more of the country for myself without using my powers to travel. Toji was home today so I left Megumi with him so father and son could bond.
Not gonna lie, laughed my ass off when the lil guy refused to leave my side and gripped tightly my sweater while Toji tried to pry him off with a look of utter betrayal on his face.
Releasing a satisfying sigh, I strolled through the streets of Akihabara like any respectful weeb would and bought anime merch left and right while teleporting some of them in my room. Yes, I did say I wouldn't use my powers but I didn't feel like holding all the stuff I'll buy.
Since it’s 2004, most of the mangas and anime I know have yet to be released. I almost cried when I didn’t see anything related to AOT because I miss my beans terribly. That's what happens when you spend five years of your existence with someone. I know I'll have the choice to go back or stay here if I entertain them enough. But still... It's quite hard and I'm getting attached to the little one.
'Guess I'll see how things turn out...'
Shoulder slumped, I walked with my hands in my pockets for a while.
I knew I was being followed ever since I got out of that plush store where I bought several Pokemons and Nintendo stuff to decorate my room, and I think I recognized Gojo and... Geto’s auras. I decided to ignore them and act like I hadn’t noticed them.
It was...quite hard to pretend not to when I clearly heard a squeal from the white giraffe like a schoolgirl the moment I bought some sweets in a bakery to snack on a few hours prior.
A noise from my stomach stopped me in my tracks, and I knew...
JAPANESE DISHES BABY!!!!
Excitedly, I began looking around and found a bunch of little restaurants you would usually see in animes, and nyoomed in one of them like a moron, just to have a taste. Feeling the two follow me and Geto trying his best to not slap Gojo when the teen suggested to go sit near me and eat, I simply settled on an available seat and ordered the most cliché things weebs would order if they had the money to go to Japan:
'RAMEN-TAKOYAKI-OKONOMIYAKIS-TEMPURAS, and of course, DANGOS!',
Man, I feel like a certain Uchiha with the amount of dangos I ordered now. I also ordered some take-out for Toji, which I swiftly warped into the microwave of my house.
I almost shed tears of joy when I tasted all this since it was the first time I had access to real Japanese food and not to the usual cup noodles, and God... It didn’t disappoint! Of course, I avoided any porc-related stuff because, Muslim.
Feet swaying like a kid, I happily inhaled the food like Kirby to some people amusement and shock. Heh, I must've been quite the sight to behold, a foreigner eating like a cartoon character while bawling in delight as though she hadn't eaten food in years. Yeah, I guess that's funny.
After fawning over food and complimenting a blushing chief, I walked to a nearby park and sat on a random bench while sipping a milkshake I brought earlier on the way.
"If y'all wanted to join my shopping spree, you could've asked, ya know?" I calmly said while looking in their general direction where their auras spiked in surprise. They probably thought that if they masked their cursed energy I wouldn't be able to feel them. Heh.
"Woooa!! Really?" A wild teenage Gojo appeared right next to me, "See, Suguru, I told you she was nice!!", he giggled like an idiot while his friend hissed at him, not finding the situation funny.
"Satoru, for the first time in your life could you please take things more seriously!"
The teenager was forced to show himself due to his friend's foolishness, guards up and quite apprehensive. After all, he was facing a being who managed to walk unharmed after an encounter with the Satoru Gojo, an unheard matter especially for an alleged enemy.
I raised an eyebrow, slightly amused by their dynamics and pretty disappointed that they weren't legal yet, but damn, this child is taaaall.
"Don't worry I'm the strongest !" he waved a hand dismissively, "But hey girl, how did you know we were following you?" Geto paled.
'Ara...?'
I blinked, chuckling incredulously before a lopsided smile came across my face. "Sup, Gojo, Geto."
The monk looking teen jolted when I said his name and took a fighting stance while Gojo stiffened a bit but kept his smile on. I merely watched them.
"Chill, I felt you guys trail me for a while. No worries, I’m simply curious as to why two of the most promising sorcerers were after lil old me so you can drop the stance." I sipped what was left of my drink then sulked when it was empty, aw.
They shared a look then focused back on my figure. I yawned. I had disposed of my cup when they weren't looking.
Geto carefully began, "We...received orders... to bring you with us to the higher up-"
"He meant 'capture' but oh well. I think it's a waste of time since you're obviously a good person." Gojo shrugged, not worried at all.
"You can't just say it like that, Satoru!"
The white-haired teen blew a raspberry at his friend which effectively made me release a laugh of mirth.
Geto was probably too used to his friend's antics since he just sighed and brought his curses, ready for a confrontation.
A confrontation that never came, 'cause:
"Okay sure, lead the way."
Shrugging, I stood up. They paused and looked at me, mouths wide open in shock. A given considering that an unknown threat was agreeing to follow you, just like that, without making a fuss. An unexpected and fishy situation to anyone with enough brain and self-preservation.
I shoved my hands in my pockets, "But I'll need to buy a few stuffs before that, you can come with me if you want. I'm not planning on running away."
"For real?" Gojo said dumbfounded.
"For real." I grinned.
He turned to his friend and shrugged. Geto just stood there, still surrounded by his curses and didn't know whether or not to attack. "See? it was super easy."
He started boasting about how incredible he was and how his beautiful face was the reason of the mission’s success, so on and so forth. Geto reluctantly dismissed the curses and proceeded to cautiously follow us.
We returned to the busy streets. I casually chatted with Gojo who didn't seem troubled by my presence, unlike his friend who kept his distance, though he still replied when spoken to.
Why couldn't he feel any cursed energy from me? How did I manage against Satoru? How could I heal people without jujutsu— are the questions I was able to feel on the tip of his tongue. So I turned my head towards him when Gojo was buying candy in the same bakery I was in a few minutes ago. Apparently, it was one of his favorite places.
"You okay kid?" he stiffened but kept his cool. His fingers twitched as if waiting for something and warily eyed me. I watched it all unfold in the span of a few seconds and stifled a chuckle.
'Am I that terrifying?'
"If you have any questions about me, ask away! I’d be happy to answer." I smiled warmly causing a faint pink hue to coat his cheeks.
Yeah, I got that effect on people apparently.
My words seemed to catch him by surprise before he quickly regained his composure. He cleared his throat.
"Yes, hum... It's just that I didn't expect...you to come willingly with us, Tobe-san..." he scratched his cheek sheepishly. "Given the rumors about you, I was expecting a fight or something like that..."
"Colith is fine," I lazily grinned before raising a brow, intrigued, "What do you mean by 'rumors' ?"
"Well, you've been the talk in the jujutsu world lately. An unknown entity able to knock out the sorcerer killer and come out unscathed from a confrontation with Gojo Satoru. It was pretty much chaotic when Satoru told us so I was a bit apprehensive after being ordered to find you..."
"I see...sorry 'bout that buddy! Didn't mean to scare y'all like that." I kindly patted his back, surprising him. "I understand your concern, but I'm no one's enemy here, ya feel?"
The teen blinked, 'Ya feel..?'
"How come you don't have any cursed energy, if I may ask?"
I crossed my arms while watching Gojo being surrounded by a bunch of blushing girls and preening. 'that player..'
"Oh, I'm some type of Goddess, must be why..." Geto choked next to me while I continued, "I actually have no use for cursed energy to prevail-"
"Excuse me, WHAT?!" he shrieked, getting Gojo's attention.
"huh?" I blinked before shrugging. "Oh that, yep! As you probably know, I'm no human, nor I'm a curse." I said, making a little flower appear in my hand to the teen's amazement. He stared intensely at the plant, unable to feel any cursed energy from it. "I'm not planning some world domination crap or anything, just want to live peacefully...think of it as some type of vacation or some shit."
Geto noticed the soft look in my eyes.
He was baffled.
It was the first time he saw something being created without jujutsu, and the feeling he got from that unknown power filled him with warmth and peace. Speechless, he watched dumbly as I put the flower in his hair while smiling kindly at him.
"There, it suits you! So cute!", I chuckled when his face reddened until an awestruck Gojo who had somehow witnessed the scene from afar waltzed to us while gesturing wildly like an impressionable child.
"Wouaaa! How did you do that? I don't feel cursed energy from it! Or you at all!!" he was carrying a bunch of sweets. Looks like the boy already has a sweet tooth.
'Eh, his adult counterpart is much worse tho..'
I patiently explained what I was to him like I did earlier with Geto, getting a melodramatic gasp from him which made some passerby look at him in concern, or weirdly. Being the sharp creature he was, he quickly put two and two together and understood how I was able to come out unscathed from his [Hollow purple].
A fact that made him pout like a kid after finding out that I was probably stronger than him.
And now he wanted a spar to see who was stronger, something I promptly declined. Too much work.
Geto kicked him in the shin, causing Gojo to release a squeak of offense before grumbling when Geto scolded him about manners, and not to bother me. Though I quickly reassured Gojo that being a sorcerer wasn't in my schedule so he gave up on the idea of fighting...for now.
'I'm totally leaving this to future Colith.'
Half an hour later, we closed in on the place their Higher-Ups usually held their meetings, as in the School.
"I...I'm sorry...for what happened...my bad." I said, making both boys pause and stare at me.
Honestly, I did feel guilty since I knew I could've saved Riko from dying if I had been sent here earlier. She didn't deserve any of this. Although this was the first time Toji appeared in the manga, his actions during this arc were truly despicable and my moral compass urged me to punch him in the dick. It wouldn't bring the girl back for sure, but at least that'll get a laugh out of her, wherever she was. The clients on the other hand...
The atmosphere grew heavier and somber.
"If I can provide any help to Master Tengen, then I would gladly lend a hand, you can count on me!" A look of determination appeared on my face.
"It wasn't your fault, Tobe-san...the real scumbags are those who ordered it, you had nothing to do with this." Geto voiced, tone caustic.
I am aware that this mission had taken a toll on them since they seemed less lively than before, even Gojo, whose demeanor darkened a bit at the mention of their first failure.
I felt Geto's hatred for non-sorcerers grow in his heart for what they had done, something I kinda understand.
Oh, how many times have I wished for an asteroid or some shit to kill us all when humanity started doing weird shit back then. Then again, we got covid 19 at some point, though I wouldn't be surprised if some random shit's currently going on. Not that it concerns me anymore. Just hope Ma and the others are safe...!
"I see.." My eyes held slight grief in them as I already knew what was to come the next year. I patted Geto's head softly, causing him to look at me in question when I gave him a sad look. Before he could inquire about it, Gojo interrupted.
"Say, Colith-chan, you told me to take care of that kid, Fushiguro Megumi, right? isn't he related to that guy?"
The serious tone he employed said a lot about his bitterness toward Toji. The feeling of being pushed to the limit and almost being bested by a guy who didn't even possess cursed energy would rattle even the strongest. I patted his back, feeling a little guilty while internally apologizing for interrupting his fight.
But come on Dilf.
"Well, yup! I feel like the kid's got potential and'll be full of surprises in the future, I hope he can thrive under your care in Jujutsu High. Although, he's currently a baby so be patient, Gojo-chan."
He pouted. Geto shook his head wearily, though he seemed slightly interested in the matter.
I smiled warmly at these two.
"You know kiddos, y'all are fine sorcerers for your time, you got this!" I ruffled their hair, careful not to disrupt the flowers I put there. Gojo wanted one and was adamant about it so I stuffed his head with a lot of them. Let's say that he was really happy about it.
"You keep calling us "kiddos" as if you weren't a kid yourself!" Geto smacked him and told him to be polite.
"Eh, I'm 25," I replied blankly. They paused. "And I assume y'all must be...15? How adorable!" I pinched both of their cheeks.
"WHAT?! YOU LYING!! YOU LOOK LIKE A HIGH-SCHOOLER!!" Gojo screeched, holding up his glasses to look closely at me with gleaming blue eyes while Geto was shook.
"You do look younger than your age, Colith-San." Geto said, dumbfounded.
"As they say: Black don't crack, amirite~?", I snickered, "Anyway I'm done, let's hurry and meet your geezers! I needa go back to my baby soon."
"Yeah, your ba-"
They both froze.
What...? Oh, I called Megumi 'my baby', silly me! I chuckled, shaking my head then turned to them. Ah shit I think I broke the-
"YOU'RE A MOM?!" Gojo screeched while Geto coughed, trying to regain his composure.
"Ah, I-"
"We didn't know that...if we knew we wouldn't have bothered you with this and let you go."
"Guys, it's alr-"
"ALRIGHT!! I WON'T LET THEM SEPARATE YOU FROM YOUR FAMILY, COLITH-CHAN!! REST ASSURED! I, THE STRONGEST WON'T LET THAT HAPPEN!!" Gojo declared while doing a knight in shining armor pose with sparkling effects emitting from...somewhere.
'How the hell did he get... never mind...'
I laughed.
It seems like their wariness from earlier vanished thoroughly after getting to know each other. They now seem reluctant to bring me with them, but orders were orders I guess...
'You know what, Imma let them think I have a kid.'
"Oh, by the way, I've got an idea." Gojo suddenly stopped, catching both Geto's and my attention. Geto's eyes immediately narrowed in suspicion.
"Let's prank the higher-ups." a mischievous grin gradually etched itself on his face. Geto groaned, implying that it wasn't the first time it occurred.
"I don't think that's the time for this, Satoru. Plus I'm sure Colith-san is not the kind to-"
"I'm in!" He did a double-take. "What? It's not like I'm planning on becoming a sorcerer, just wanna meet the one in charge, and help around...sometimes. Nothing crazy." I lazily waved a hand.
Gojo slid an arm around my shoulder. I nearly squealed.
"AHAHAHAH! I LIKE HER, SUGURU!!" He chirped and we both started snickering like mischievous gremlins about to bring chaos to an unaware family.
Poor Geto just stood there, looking at us helplessly. We weren't that far from the school's entrance which looked more like some kind of temple than a school but hey, Japan.
'Why are powerful people so weird...?'
Shrugging, he decided to partake, not really in the mood to be left out.
Yeah, he wasn't totally sane either.
