λ - Setters Love Their Spikers
There was no doubting that the Miyagi prefecture was a breeding ground for demons. Ushijima, Oikawa, Kageyama, whatever the hell Date Tech was... It was nowhere near easy to become the best. Johzenji did nothing expect piss Kei off. They were all monkeys - hopping, jumping and running around just to have fun. They took nothing seriously and would attempt ridiculous moves at the most inappropriate times.
That's why it was so satisfying when Karasuno won with their polished tools.
Wakutani was a much better opponent and the entire match carried a different type of energy – especially when Daichi died. His collision with Tanaka was a nasty one and Tanaka couldn't get himself completely focused for a long time, feeling responsible. Sugawara had been fussing over Daichi as soon as it happened, offering to help him to the medical team. Coach Ukai had to send the setter back to the warmup zone and Takeda took over as coach. Yamaguchi had been put in as a pinch server and Hinata had started using rebounds against the blockers. Sugawara was fidgeting throughout the whole game but he had noticed Daichi return well before the match ended, just watching how Ennoshita's leadership panned out. They shared a smile across the court, words communicating through their eyes.
The baby crows were starting to leave the nest.
The game against Aobajohsai was one of the worst ones – mentally. With the failure of the last match still fresh in their minds, Karasuno walked in with heightened anxiety and tense muscles. Yamaguchi was still nervous from his failure against them – and never mind what the hell was up with Kageyama. He had to be benched, taking the time to see Sugawara's way of doing it. Kei did not appreciate being targeted by Oikawa's serves at all.
It was frustrating.
But Karasuno was winning, Oikawa getting frustrated with every play and eventually, Kageyama could read his superior's actions and get the best over him. The Hinata and Kageyama quick was the ultimate play and even though Oikawa read where it would go, he wasn't able to save it.
It was already over by then. The long rally that was their final set ended with Karasuno victorious. The excitement from winning their semi-finals, the excitement from Kageyama finally surpassing his mentor – his demon – had sent him into overdrive. He could barely feel himself present, Hinata jumping onto him and shaking his shoulders – 'we did it, Kageyama! We did it, did you see that??'.
Dazedly, he placed his hands on Hinata's shoulders and leaned forward, resting his forehead against Hinata's. He was so tired and mentally exhausted, his eyes closed. The warmth from Hinata's skin soothed his own, heat radiating off in waves.
"We did it," he whispered, voice giving away how fatigued he really was. "We did it,"
"Yeah, we did," Kageyama opened his eyes, spotting Hinata's bright and excited ones so, so close and so, so full of emotion. Hinata pulled away but not before raising his hand up, lifting Kageyama's hand off his shoulder and holding it. He gave his hand a tight squeeze before pulling away to celebrate with the rest of the team.
Kageyama brought his hand up, the feeling of Hinata still dancing on the skin. He brought his hand into a fist, a silly grin on his face.
"Ah, so that's what it is," Kageyama looked up, Oikawa's face across the net. "The chibi is a musician and his instrument is your heartstrings. No wonder you came to me for advice about your quick. You're no longer the King in this equation. He's your ruler now," the Grand King huffed. Kageyama was surprised at his words, heading to speak but were interrupted. "With this, we're even so don't get too pleased with yourself," Kageyama scoffed.
"I'm not,"
"Good. Don't invite me to the wedding," and walked off, leaving the crow to his own thoughts.
Oikawa was clearly implying that Kageyama liked Hinata - he could deduce that much. He... knew that though. He knew that already, but had never put it into words. Oikawa noticing it made it all so much more real for him.
He looked across to Hinata, seeing the bumbling idiot skip around with Nishinoya. He smiled. One day, that would be his bumbling idiot.
A conversation about Karasuno making it to the finals were was underway on the group when Kei opened up his phone, Hinata already having informed Kenma which naturally wound up with Kuroo. Bokuto was discussing the quickest possible way to get to Miyagi to watch the tournament before Akaashi reminded him it would be streamed live. Kei merely commented on it before switching off his phone and napping on the bus back. The Tokyo tournament was only in two weeks' time so they still had insane energy.
"If Seijoh is the most mature team then compared to them, Shiratorizawa is the most mature team," Coach Ukai announced later to his flock when they were back to discuss their next moves.
Everyone headed home after their briefing, ready for a warm meal and long hours of sleep to prepare for the big day. Daichi, Sugawara and Asahi walked together as far as they can – Asahi trying to lay some wise motivation to them. Ushijima – he was the obstacle they had to overcome if they wanted to go to Nationals; if they wanted to continue playing this year. The other two shut down his words, not wanting to hear his soppy sentiments. When it came time for them to separate, Daichi lingered on the road until he saw Asahi's back far in the distance. Then he spun back around and ran off down the street towards Sugawara, the setter turning with question when he heard the steps. He watched with interest as Daichi came to a halt in front of him.
"Forget something?" he carried an amused tone.
"Uhh," Daichi spoke nervously, looking back down to see that no one was around. "I guess I wanted to ask you something?"
"Okay?" Sugawara looked at him curiously, wondering why he was acting so weirdly.
"Okay, so uhm... I know we just kinda chewed Asahi out for talking like it might be the end for us tomorrow but I... I want to look to a positive future. That's why I wanted to ask you something. A promise from me to you, and maybe from you to me?" Daichi barely knew what he was saying, wiping his hand over his face and looking at anywhere except the other male's face.
"You want me to make you a promise?" Diachi groaned at his words, covering his face.
"It sounds bad when you say it but uhm..." he threw his hands to his side, trying to gather up all the confidence he can. "If we win tomorrow – no, when we win tomorrow, would you..." he took a deep breath, bowing his body over at a ninety-degree angle. "Would you please go on a date with me?!" and then there was silence. Daichi didn't stand up straight, remaining in the same position. It wasn't until he heard Sugawara snicker that he looked up. The other male was giggling behind his hand, waving at Daichi to stand up straight.
"Well ..." Sugawara started, Daichi looking at him with wide, frightened eyes. "Now we have no choice but to win, right?" he shot a closed-eyed smile, and to Daichi, it looked like he was being framed by an angelic light. He could only stammer at his words, not knowing how to respond. Sugawara's smile was majestic. They'd been friends for years and every time it gave him a hummingbird heartbeat.
"Due to personal reasons, I'll now be dedicating my life, soul and everything that I am to you," he spoke under his breath.
"Hm?" Sugawara tilted his head.
"Oh, uhm, no I..." Sugawara just chuckled, Diachi peaking up at the sound.
"Let's go secure our victory tomorrow, okay?" Daichi smiled, confidence building up as he got serious.
"Yeah. I can't wait,"
"I can feel thorns tearing up the inside of my throat,"
"Kenma, you-,"
"I never understood the rose flavoured trend. Rose flavoured water. Rose flavoured cupcakes. Or is that red velvet? I don't even know,"
"Can you please get off the floor?"
"And why would someone willingly just eat a flower? Edible flowers aren't a real thing. That just feels like an excuse to feel like a forest nymph or whatever,"
"You're being dramatic-,"
"And it hurts, you know? It's like that stupid thing they always ask to trick you out as a kid – what's heavier? A ton of bricks or a ton of feathers? Either way, a ton is a ton. It doesn't matter if flower petals are thin and light – when they stack up, they can still make you suffocate. I'm chocking on the flowers, the leaves, the stem and even the fucking roots. There is no end in sight," Kuroo sighed, running his hand over his face as he groaned in frustration. Akaashi and Bokuto were watching their interaction with interest from the couch.
"Hanahaki disease isn't a real thing, Kenma,"
"But unrequited love is," Kuroo sighed.
"And it sucks and you hate anything and everything at the moment – I get it. So do you want me to take you back to your house and get you ice cream and we can talk about all your feelings while we play that new social animal game of yours, or do you want to see Karasuno kick Shiratorizawa's ass?" the house was silent for a minute and then Kenma twitched. Slowly he dragged his corpse over to the couch, grabbing the blanket Akaashi offered him and hiding underneath it.
'Thank you,' Kuroo mouthed to the heavens, Bokuto snickering when he noticed. Kuroo joined the three on the couch, the three lovers intertwining their legs and basically sitting on top of each other to fit.
No, they would not compromise.
Bokuto threw a blanket over the three when they were finally settled, snuggling into each other's bodies. They had found the perfect position.
"...I'll take ice cream if you have though,"
"Goddammit Kenma,"
Hearts were pounding since the fated match started. The fruit from the fertilised dirt vs the concrete weeds. Sugawara yelling at the team to calm the fuck down was a bit of a confidence boost to Shiratorizawa, but Ushiwaka was never fazed. He wasn't even fazed when they took the second set. The entire game was just a build-up to Nishinoya's amazing reflexes getting him adapted to Ushiwaka's serves and, similarly, not only was his serves bumped - but his spikes weren't getting through.
Kei didn't look too promising at the start of the game, except for having the ability to piss Tendō off. One touch, one touch, one touch kept blaring in Tendou's mind and he hated it. He wanted to sew his mouth shut with the biggest, bluntest needle he could find. Then Kei began to bait the spikers into hitting straights where Nishinoya was laying in wait, also telling of Hinata where he predicted spikes would be directed too.
And he had been right.
Coach Takeda called him the rational mind of the team and, truly, it was this game that defined him.
Watching the livestream, the Animal Kingdom couldn't tell what was truly happening with Kei – but they kind of just knew.
Then it happened.
His moment.
He blocked Ushijima Wakatoshi.
That was just one point. One point out of twenty-five. And this... this is just a high school team. But...
Kei's hand rose to the ceiling, the blinding lights acting as sunshine raining down on him. His fist clenched together as he recalled Bokuto's words for a brief moment, bringing his hand down with a raw, emotional cry of celebration. The entire stadium shook, the tremor of pure sensation rippling through. The audience were in a state of awe and confusion. Shiratorizawa dropped a set and Karasuno were all over their new blocking champion.
Watching the scene take place on the screen, Akaashi's hand shot to his mouth and his eyes started to pool over. Bokuto jumped out of the couch, yelling 'that's our Tsukki! That's our man! That was so epic!'. Kuroo was frozen to his seat, eyes unblinking as his breathe had been stolen away. He could feel Kenma poke his finger into his side to check for sign of life, but he couldn't function.
"God I'm so turned on right now,"
"You're disgusting, Kuroo,"
Kei became like the commander of the blockers, raising their level throughout the rest of the game. They dropped the third set but gained the fourth. In the fourth, Kei had used a time lag attack which his teammates had never seen before.
"... Keiji, isn't that..."
"Yeah. That's my attack,"
The fifth set was only fifteen points so it went quicker. At the beginning of the set, Akiteru began to realise that his brother was in a deep sense of concentration. He knew everywhere Ushiwaka was, he knew the setter's capabilities, he knew which blockers he could utilise around him – he was in the zone and this court was his chessboard.
But it was just that – he was too focused on the game.
There was a spike Ushiwaka had set out of bounds, and at first glance it was Karasuno's point – but it had been overruled. His spike did not go untouched.
Kei had touched that spike.
And it fucking hurt.
It hurt enough to be sent off the court. It was a crucial moment for everybody and he had to go and get hurt. Seeing Kei walk off the court crushed the three watching. Bokuto's leg was springing up and down anxiously, Akaashi took wavering breaths and Kuroo's hands gripped each other tightly until they turned white.
Come on. Hurry up.
Akiteru could see his brother was nowhere near okay when he headed to the infirmary with him, Kei trying to wave it off as if he was just taking a break.
Karasuno was an anxious bunch for the rest of the game, but they still had weapons. They kept up their plays, Kei returning at the perfect time – at Karasuno's match point.
But of course, Shiratorizawa took it back. Kei went head-to-toe with Ushiwaka gain, no matter the amount of pain he was in.
He wanted to fight to the end.
Their exhaustion was their greatest enemy but in a great struggle against fate, a minus tempo synchronous attack was what took Shiratorizawa out.
Shiratorizawa lost.
Ushijima Wakatoshi lost.
The immediate moment when it finally snapped in everyone's minds what had just happened, a new type of chaos ensured. Sugawara was immediately in Daichi's arms, grabbing at his face to haul him in for a kiss. Daichi was barely able to function, pushing himself deeper into the kiss before Asahi pounced on the two for a hug, forcing their lip-locking to separate. All three of them held onto each other, crying with joy.
Kageyama pulled Hinata into a strong hug, the two bodies basically morphing into one another as they clutched onto each other desperately. Tanaka, Nishinoya and Yamaguchi were all over Kei at that moment, the loudness of the entire team drawing attention from the media.
They won – and Kei wasn't smiling.
Afterwards Coach Ukai approached Kei, eyes already red and puffy.
"Tsukishima! You're the MVP of today!" and no one disagreed, but still, Kei wasn't smiling.
Later, Yamaguchi was on the hunt for Kei, only finding him in the bathroom. Kei had his glasses on the counter, his hands covering his face as his mind wept. He was destroying himself from the inside out, his brain becoming his own worst enemy. Yamaguchi regarded him carefully.
"Go on, say it. I only managed to stop a single spike. We played five whole sets. I'm so useless-,"
"Shut up!" Kei looked up at his friend, surprise written all over his face. It didn't help that he could see shit without his glasses. "Nothing you did today was pathetic! So stop beating yourself up so early in the day and let's go to Nationals! Well, actually, let's start with the awards ceremony and then we can go to Nationals," he threw the door shut, leaving Kei to ponder to himself. Yamaguchi, he... Kei grinned.
Yeah.
Let's do this step by step.
Bokuto moved up close to the screen and took pictures of Kei at the awards ceremony, especially when he wore a medal around his neck. He was basically in tears, trying to get every angle of Kei's wonderful posture as he could.
"Just look at him! Do you see him?"
"I see him Bo,"
"Do you know what this means?"
"What?"
"This means I have an overwhelming victory over Ushiwaka!"
"Again, that's now how it works,"
Coach Ukai treated the team to a dinner that night, the crows only flying back to their nests at a late hour. It was after midnight when Kei had finally retired to his room, the congratulations from his family also having concluded. Akiteru had been all over him, recalling the amazing skills Kei had shown during that game. Akiteru felt like Kei had finally learned where he stood with volleyball. Just before Kei had headed into his room, he had sent his brother one last look.
"You know... that was pretty fun," he didn't stick around to see his brother's reaction, but he had a pretty good idea that Akiteru was losing his mind or crying – either way. Kei regarded the time closely and wondered. What were the chances?
Then he remembered who he was dealing with.
Chances were in his favour.
Kei flopped onto his bed and pulled up his phone, heading to Bokuto's contact. His thumb lingered over the call button for only a moment, summoning up the confidence. He pressed down, his phone dialling the video call. He took a deep breath, debating how long he should let it ring before he gave up –
"Firefly, do you know what fucking time it is? It's tomorrow," Kei's eyes went wide, the video coming up to just darkness but that definitely was not the warm voice of Bokuto.
"Akaashi? I don't think I've ever heard you swear before,"
"GHUH!" he groaned loudly.
"Sorry about him," someone switched on the light, a faint glow appearing on the screen. Someone took hold of the camera and readjusted it, revealing all three of them. They were all in bed – someone's bed, Kei didn't know whose – and from what he could tell, the three of them were basically naked.
Luckily, blankets were a thing.
"Keiji is the only real person that has a healthy sleep pattern so he gets super moody when it's interrupted. He drags us to bed early," Kuroo took the phone, fatigue evident in his voice.
"I'm not moody," Akaashi's voice was muffled as he turned his head over, burrowing his face into Bokuto's chest. Bokuto groaned, turning over to cover his body completely.
"Very convincing,"
"I'm sorry for waking you up. I'll call tomorrow," Kei immediately felt bad. If it had just been Bokuto it probably would've been fine, but he forgot that the three were never alone.
"We're already awake so you might as well tell us what's up," Akaashi mumbled.
"Agreed," Kuroo leaned over to them, rubbing his head against Akaashi's. Kei couldn't help himself from taking a screenshot, the sight of the three in bed together nearly overwhelming him. "Who did you call anyway... oh, this is Bo's phone,"
"Oh?" Bokuto immediately perked up, eyes heavy with sleep. "You called me Tsukki?"
"Uh, yeah. I thought you would be awake but I guess I should've taken the others into account,"
"Yeah, we're at Tetsurō's place. Keiji snuck out to be here though,"
"I always sneak out of that manor. That's nothing new,"
"Yeah, we wanted to be together to watch your game today," Kei could feel his face become flush, positioning the camera slightly away to hide part of his face for a moment while he breathed.
"If I wasn't so tired, know that your eardrums would've burst by now I would be congratulating you so loud," Bokuto mumbled. Kei chuckled at that.
"Thanks Bokuto. I appreciate it," he really did – especially the part where his eardrums remained intact. "Uhm, so Bokuto, I basically just wanted to tell you... I had it,"
"Hm? What?" Bokuto peered at the camera curiously.
"My moment," Bokuto sucked in a breath, pushing himself into an upright position with his hand. His eyes were wide-awake now. "That's it. And... I really miss you guys. Wish I was with you. Goodnight," he immediately shut off the call, throwing his phone across the bed. His hand shot to his chest, his heart racing. His phone lit up as they tried to call him back but he just watched it ring for a minute, eyes fixed on Bokuto's profile picture on his screen.
Then the ringing stopped and a moment later, his phone lit up from a text notification. He reached across to retrieve his phone, unlocking it to read the words.
'We want you here with us too'
Kei released a shaky breath as he read that but, seeing that they were still typing, he stopped breathing.
'In our arms'
Kei's hand shot to his mouth, reading the two messages together over and over again. He clutched his phone to his chest, thinking of how these three boys affected him so much.
Why, why, why –
But he stopped asking why and focussed on the feeling. Focussed on how happy he made them and how much he wanted to be there for them, in whatever way he could be. Even if he ended up as the fourth wheel to their open flirtatious personalities for the rest of his life, then he would be okay with that.
Because they'll still be there.
Almost half a month later, Tokyo's representative playoffs occurred. Only the top four from the preliminaries competed whereas one of those would fall away and go to Nationals. Fukurōdani, Nekoma, Nohebi and Itachiyama. Bokuto had declared war on Kuroo and just like a groom not seeing his bride until the alter, only saw the stunning feline again when they were across the court.
"Ah, this takes me back," Kuroo smirked at his boyfriend.
"Then you better get ready to lose just like last time," Bokuto shot back with a confident smile.
"But it's different than last time,"
"How?" Kuroo turned to the side and grabbed at Kenma, bringing him closer.
"I've got this guy as a regular now!" Kenma just groaned at this friend.
"And I've got an angel on my side," Bokuto sent heart eyes to Akaashi who in turn frowned at him.
Nekoma baited Bokuto into only performing line shots until he forgot how to do cross shots, Akaashi just looking at the cats with a disapproving look.
"Look what you've done now," he hissed at Kuroo who could only laugh. "I have to deal with so much bullshit because of you,"
"Yeah, well, you choose him,"
"You did as well,"
"Ai, don't make your problem my problem. We're enemies until this is all over. Enjoy his mood swing, my love," Akaashi sneered and turned back to Bokuto, heading off to give him some motivation.
"Just hit it how it feels right. I'll open up the path for you," and Bokuto saw nothing but starlight framing his setter.
The final point against Nekoma was done with a cros shot from Bokuto, and it was legendary.
"Your boyfriend is unreal," Kenma whispered to Kuroo, out of breath.
"Tell me about it,"
"Are you going to go congratulate him?" Kuroo huffed.
"Are you kidding me? We have snakes to focus on now. We're getting to Nationals. We have to,"
Playing against Nohebi was an entire different ballpark altogether. They would play in such a way that brought disadvantage to Nekoma, playing on the referee's good side and aiming spikes to faces. Yaku was injured, the first year libero having to be subbed in. He ended up being quite successful in the game, and that was when Lev truly learned what it meant to connect. Still, they won 2-0 and were the host representatives for Nationals. They made it.
On the other court, a clash of the titans had been taking place.
Itachiyama vs Fukurōdani.
Bokuto was a top-five ace, and he had immense respect for the top three.
That didn't mean he couldn't get infuriated with them.
Ushijima Wakatoshi – the man never lost his composure and was like a stonewall. He couldn't be moved. Bokuto hated going up against him, especially when Shiratorizawa's cheering squad was there. They blocked out all his good cheers!
Kiryū Wakatsu – he may overanalyse anything and everything – including his own abilities - but the man was fun to play against. He wasn't a particularly loud ace, but he was reliable.
And then there was that bitch – Sakusa Kiyoomi.
The man never accepted a hug or even a high-five from Bokuto – calling him dirty, corrupted and infectious.
"I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, but I thought you already knew," was Sakusa's response when Bokuto called him out on it. Sakusa was very proud and very competitive and because of that, he had driven himself to extreme practices. He didn't want anything left unfinished.
Bokuto has never won against a team that had Sakusa on it – not in middle school, and not in high school. Even though Sakusa was a year younger, he was much stronger.
He had gotten the final point against Fukurōdani, securing their spot as the first representative of Tokyo.
"GAHHH! You best remember this, Sakusa!! Next time I-,"
"You missed three serves during crunch time. Let's be sure to clean that up," Akaashi interrupted Bokuto's war declaration.
"AKAASHI! Learn to read the situation!" the owl fell onto his knees, banging his fist against the floor. "There's a time and place for everything!" Kuroo just sighed as he watched the tantrum take place. He pulled out his phone and quickly took a picture of the scene, Akaashi standing over the collapsed Bokuto. He shared it to their group, adding the caption 'Im just as tired as him tbh'. It was then he saw that Kei had sent a message and he scrolled up to read it.
'You guys were great out there. Congratulations,'
Kuroo smiled.
'Thanks. I'm going to beat the living feathers out of these owls next time,' he responded.
'Hey, respect the feathers,' the crow typed back.
All of them spoke later on a video call, Kei mentioning how he had watched the two livestreams of their final games simultaneously on his laptop.
"Watching Kuroo kick ass and take name while Bokuto was getting his ass handed to him at the same time was quite entertaining," Kei admitted.
"Hey! We took the first set from Sakusa!"
"You kept making bad plays. You got too riled up against him," Akaashi commented.
"It's Sakusa,"
"Pfttt," Kei chuckled at the dynamic. Kuroo was salty with Bokuto – not Akaashi, since he was an angel and could do no wrong – for having caused Nekoma a loss. Still, he wouldn't have wanted to go up against Itachiyama.
"I'll talk you guys later. I'm going to go take a shower," Kei announced.
"Naked?" Kuroo wiggled his eyes.
"No, in uniform," Akaashi couldn't keep himself from laughing at Kei's deadpan expression. "Later, then,"
Not long after the Miyagi match, Tsukishima got invited to a youth training camp hosted by Shiratorizawa. At the same time, Kageyama was invited to the All-Japan youth camp. Hinata was pissed. So much so, that he snuck into Shiratorizawa. The amount of second-hand embarrassment Kei felt had him venting to the Animal Kingdom. Bokuto had found the entire situation extremely amusing. Hinata had become a ball boy for the camp and, this experience was what taught Hinata how to properly receive. In another life, he would have made a deadly libero.
Kageyama met quite the amount of interesting people at the All-Japan camp. Sakusa was one of them, Kageyama taking the opportunity to examine another top 3 ace in the flesh. Kageyama was at least on point with his hygiene so Sakusa had fewer issues around him. Another was a good reference for picking up skills to apply with Hinata: the Dragon Dhild, Hoshiumi Kōrai. He wouldn't call him the Dragon Child to his face though, since it was entirely based off his insane hair.
Then there was the man who would rip open Kageyama's mind-set with a single retort and set him on a path that would change his setter style forever: Miya Atsumu. He called Kageyama a goody toe shoes, and that hit harder than he would care to admit. So much so that he began nit-picking his own team when he was back and made himself an enemy.
But Hinata placed a crown on him – made him a King again. It left Kageyama in awe, staring at the ginger with all sorts of emotions. Yeah. He definitely wanted him in his life. He wanted him to stand alongside him with another crown on his head. They were a duo, and he wanted that fact to be even more solidified. He wanted it to mean something else too.
"Hinata," he spoke to him after practice once, privately. "Have you ever thought about what we could be outside of volleyball? You know, like... maybe more than friends?" Hinata had thought about it, so much so that would gossip to Kenma – completely unaware of Kenma's feelings. Hinata knew his love for volleyball was all he really cared about at this point in his life, and that love had developed and enveloped the setter. He didn't know what he wanted from Kageyama, but it was something more.
But Kageyama... he was talking about them outside of volleyball.
Hinata didn't know for sure what he felt but if there was anyone he was willing to learn with, it was him.
"I have," he nodded in confirmation, smiling up at him.
"And? What... what do you think?" Hinata stepped up to him and took one of his hands, intertwining their fingers and bringing it up. Kageyama's jaw fell.
"...oh,"
"Oh?" Hinata peered at him curiously. Kageyama's breathing stopped as he saw those eyes beam up at him.
"Wow," he brought his free hand to caress Hinata's cheek who reacted by holding onto the hand, turning his face to place a kiss inside the palm.
Kageyama blushed.
"Is this...is this okay? If we try to be a thing?" he asked of the ginger, wondering if this was truly a dream or not. He liked Hinata, he really did.
Hinata looked up at him, his expression gleaming with joy.
And yeah. It definitely was okay.
For now, at least.
