Chapter 96) The Announcement

We made our way to Shane's office and we explained that I had a career-changing moment to where I had to announce it to the entire world.

"Am I also in for a surprise?" He asked.

"Yes, sir."

"Whatever you have to say out there tonight, you're still going to be one of the best female talents in this company."

"Thanks, Shane."

It was almost time for the show to start. I started seeing thousands of fans making their way to their seats after buying merchandise and some snacks for the show. Nobody announced to the WWE Universe that I had an important announcement to make that resulted in my career.

Five more minutes remaining and I started to tremble.

"Hey babe, how are you feeling?" He asked.

I looked at the title around my shoulder and allowed a small sigh to escape from my mouth.

"Nervous. Very, very nervous."

"It'll be alright." He looked down at me with a smile. "Trust me."

"Hey, Kiddo. Is everything alright?" Dean asked.

"Yeah, I'm just making an important announcement tonight regarding my career."

"Are you injured?"

"Dean, you'll have to find out along with everyone else."

"Ah, alright. I'm in suspense now."

I started to laugh until one of the crew members called for me to come to the gorilla and wait for my cue to enter the ring.

Minutes passed and it was finally time for the show to start.

"Ashley Kay to the gorilla!"

I walked down to the gorilla and my theme began to play. I walked down the ramp with my championship around my shoulder and heard everyone cheering for me while I entered the inside of the ring. Picking up the microphone when my entrance music cut off, I took in the last few moments of stepping inside of the ring as the champion.

I brought the microphone to my mouth, "I have a very important announcement to share with the WWE Universe."

The crowd went silent.

"You see, I've had an amazing run in the WWE for awhile now and something has come up to where I have to relinquish my WWE Raw Women's Championship."

Without noticing, I started to shed a tear at the thought of me missing the fans already.

"No, this isn't anything to do with an injury. In fact, I'm stepping away from the ring for a while to focus on being a mother."

The crowd went from being silent to cheering. "Thank you, Ashley!"

"With that being said, I love each and every one of you in the WWE Universe, and for those who have helped me throughout my career when it came to me suffering two comas and going through so much in secrecy. This is far from retirement. I will come back and I'll be more determined to take back what is mine from the one woman who is holding this title when I make my return. Before I leave, thank you all so much for supporting me throughout my hardships, and now on my way to motherhood. I will miss all of you, even the ones watching at home."

Dropping the microphone, I placed my title onto the canvas and made my way backstage with tears beginning to well-up in my eyes. When I arrived backstage, everyone greeted Roman and I with hugs and being told congratulations on the pregnancy.

"Whoa Ashley, you're pregnant?" Dean asked, in shock.

"Yes. I'm stepping away from the ring for a few years to focus on motherhood. I'll still be in contact with everyone."

"We're going to miss you so much. You and Roman will make amazing parents and I cannot wait until they're born. I'm going to be an aunt!" Renee said.

"Me too!" Eva interrupted.

"Me three!" Sasha said, making her way towards me.

Sasha then came up to me and given me a gentle hug.

"I guess we're not feuding after all. I was looking forward to it but the best is yet to come and we will have our match when you return. I'll miss you so much, Ashley. Thank you for helping me and Eva back at the Performance Center."

"It's no problem. I'm going to miss you all so much." I said with watery eyes.

We left the arena with smiles on our faces. Me? I was emotional knowing that I had to step away from the ring for awhile to focus on my pregnancy; but in the end, I was very happy that Roman and I were on the road to parenthood with our first child together.

I was worried about becoming a mother. I've heard so many stories about women miscarrying and the mere thought of it concerned me.

It was going to be an extremely long nine months of carrying a baby inside of my body. I used to be terrified about pregnancy and all the stress factors that came along with it.

Upon arriving to the hotel, Roman escorted me towards the bed and sat next to me with the warmest smile that reached from ear-to-ear.

"How are you feeling, beautiful?"

"I'm really nervous, and scared."

"Why are you scared?"

"I've heard a lot of stories regarding miscarriages and that something could go wrong. I really want to bring our beautiful child into the world, but I'm also concerned that one wrong move could cause our child to die."

"Baby." He brought his hands in mine, "Everything will be perfectly okay. Trust me. I wouldn't let anything happen to you or the baby."

I smiled, "What do you think we're having?"

"I don't mind. Boy or girl. I'm just blessed to be a father. This has been something that I've dreamt of for the longest time. I've always wanted kids and to also teach them the ropes of wrestling or football. Anything just to bring a smile to their face; and yours, too."

"Aw, Roman."

He yawned, "I'm getting tired baby."

"Me too. Let's get some rest."

Days later, Shane finally agreed to give Roman a few weeks off to make sure I was fully comfortable at his parents' house until he had to be on the road afterwards. Roman was worried about me being all alone and insisted I stayed with his family; which I didn't mind because I loved being around them.
