Chapter 58) Remembering
Roman
After I helped up Ashley from the bed, her legs were extremely wobbly after waking up from a months coma. Her body's been used to laying down inside a hospital bed and this was going to become a long road to recovery for Ashley. As long as she was okay, that's all that matters.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah. I can't really remember anything outside of what you both told me and waking up here in this hospital."
"We're here for you and when Ambrose and I are on SmackDown, we're going to let Dolph watch over you."
"Who's Dolph? I heard you both mention him earlier."
"Dolph is one of our closest friends in the business. Even he was worried about you at the time, and he doesn't know that you're awake yet."
"Why doesn't he know yet?" She asked.
"We haven't had the opportunity to tell him right now, but when we drive over to the hotel he's staying at, he'll be thrilled to see you're awake. He thinks of you as his little sister."
When we made it to the hotel that Dolph was staying at for awhile, I stepped out and held out my hand for Ashley with a smile.
"Thank you, Roman."
"You're welcome."
We walked to the hotel and checked in and found Dolph's room and knocked on the door.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Dolph."
He tilted his head with confusion, "What's going on?"
"She's awake." I smiled.
"Ashley's awake?" Dolph said with excitement.
Ashley emerged from behind me. "I'm sorry, Dolph. I don't remember you clearly. Roman and Dean are trying to help me remember everything again." Ashley said.
"No need to worry. I'm just glad you're awake!" Dolph replied.
We went into the room and sat down on the couch for awhile.
"Ashley, how do you feel after waking up from your coma?" Dolph asked.
"It feels like a blur. I don't remember anything except for the details between Roman and I, how we used to be a couple and how we broke-up because of Charlotte and Seth. They told me that Charlotte put me into that coma and how Roman refused to leave my side."
"They're right."
"I just don't want to get back into a relationship with him until I can remember everything like I used to. If it makes sense."
Dolph chuckled. "You will, you're a strong woman."
I noticed how it was beginning to become dusk outside. I wanted to head back to the hotel with Ashley and Dean for the night.
"Ashley? It's almost dark and I wanted to get some sleep later." I say.
"Sure! I'm sorry for the short visit, Dolph."
"No worries, Kiddo!"
"Goodnight Dolph. It was nice meeting you for the second time!"
"Take care, guys!"
We left the room and headed back to our room to settle in for the night as Ambrose went to meet up with his girlfriend. I was finally all alone with Ashley for the first time in forever.
"Roman?"
"What's up?" I looked at her with a smile until I realized she was frowning.
"I'm really sorry for everything."
I glanced over at Ashley, realizing she had tears in her eyes. "Sorry for what?"
"That I lost my memory of everything that we had together."
I looked at her as the both of our faces were filled with sadness and without thinking, I pulled her close to me and never wanted to let her out of my warm embrace.
"Ash, it's not your fault and you don't need to apologize for what happened."
"I thought I should have apologized because I made you worry about me, and I put you through hell over the past month because Dean told me that you refused to eat or even sleep. I feel like I'm at fault for all of this chaos."
"Ashley, I went through so much because I truly do love you and ever since we met when you made your in-ring debut, I seem to fall more in love with you every single day and that will never change. I understand that you've lost your memory but all of us here, especially me, will help you remember what your life was like before you went into a coma."
"Roman, I wanted to know something about you."
"What's that, Ashley?"
"What was our relationship like before all of this happened?"
I smiled, "It was perfect and I wouldn't change it for the world."
"How perfect was it?"
"In every way you could possibly imagine. The only problem was how Seth Rollins was always trying his damndest to sabotage our relationship together and he brought Charlotte into this and caused us to break-up. We have broken-up before but we ended up dating again after a day because I realized how stupid I was thinking we needed a break because of the stress I was put under with the authority and with my championship."
"This is our second break-up?"
"Unfortunately, yes." I sighed, "However, we did get back together because after realizing that my decision was impulsive the first time. What happened was I allowed so much stress to overcome me and then I felt like we needed a break from the relationship. I watched you leave the door and as worried as I was, I asked our friends if they were with you and they said that you weren't anywhere in sight. I began worrying and I put on the nearest clothes of mine and drove out to find you. When I noticed a car was coming out from the woods, I started feeling suspicious and when I followed them, I hid my car from a distance and looked closely and then I realized it was Seth Rollins and someone else who I believed was Charlotte. Later, I seen as they drove elsewhere and left you inside of the cabin. My instinct was to immediately call for an ambulance because you were unresponsive. That's when you were in your first coma and I panicked because I had the fear of losing you and regretting my mistake and that was letting you go because of something small like stress."
"I had another coma before?"
"You did. I hated myself because of what happened and I felt as if you deserved better than someone like me."
"How long was my first coma?"
"About a day, thankfully."
"Wow, I didn't think I'd be out for just a day. Why was I out for almost a month?"
"Well, that chairshot to the head caused severe damage to your brain, in which caused you to lose your memory; and to tell you the truth, you almost died because the heart monitor was slowing down and I had the worst emotional breakdown that I've ever had my entire life. I felt as if the woman I loved was slipping away from me."
I looked down and I had a tear falling from my face as the memory of almost losing her made me feel at my worst. We sat down on the bed, I felt her hand intertwining with mine as she looked at me with sadness.
"Roman, I'm so sorry." Ashley apologized.
"Don't be sorry. I just really hate that memory because you almost died on me and I felt the worst heartbreak of my life that night. If I lost you, I wouldn't be able to move on because you're all I want in life. Nobody can compare to your beauty and I've never felt so much love for a woman before until I met you."
Ashley was speechless and pulled me into a hug, looking me in the eyes. She began leaning forward to me and not even a minute later, I felt her lips pressed against mine.
"Roman, I'm not going anywhere."
I began smiling at her after she kissed me for the first time since her coma. It felt like Ashley was slowly starting to remember me again. It brought me absolute joy in hopes of bringing her old-self back.
I looked at her with the biggest smile on my face while I wrapped my arms around her into a hug. "I love you."
I realized how silent she was for a few seconds and she started to smile, looking me in the eyes as she said the words that I've been dying to hear.
"I love you too."
