Chapter 32) Too Much Pressure
Hunter and Stephanie looked surprised to see me furious after what had happened. The authority really believes that I'm going to give into them and kiss their ass? Not even close to happening. I've been focused on slowly picking the authority apart and someday they're going to crumble to the ground. I couldn't wait to see the day that it would finally happen.
After my match and proving my point towards Daniel Bryan, I walked backstage and wasn't in the best mood. Then I realized that Ashley was approaching me with a cheerful smile on her face.
"Roman!"
"What is it?"
"Are you feeling alright?" Ashley asked.
"Do I look like I'm feeling alright? No, I'm not!" I snapped.
"Why are you mad at me? All I did was ask if you were feeling okay."
I sighed, "Look, I just need some time to myself to think about what I'm going to do with the authority. I'll see you after the show, Ashley." I huffed.
I walked away to my locker-room. I've never snapped at Ashley before. I felt terrible on the inside with the way I just spoke to her. From the authority trying to ruin my chance to main event WrestleMania, to Seth Rollins trying to steal Ashley from me, and having Daniel Bryan intervening and trying to take my place to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania was a lot of weight on my shoulders to carry.
I sat down in my chair and overthought everything that's happened over the months. I really loved Ashley and I realized that after we got together, Seth has been trying to steal her away from me like she suddenly mattered to him ever since she departed from NXT. He has attempted to do whatever it took to make the both of our lives a living hell. I couldn't bring myself to do this, but I believed taking a break from the relationship with Ashley until everything was resolved.
Ashley
I've never had Roman get angry with me before. He's had so much on his shoulders for a few months and to be honest with you, I couldn't blame him. Walking down the hallway, Dean happened to notice me with a frown on my face.
"Hey Ashley, what's wrong?" He asked.
"It's nothing, really." I sighed. "He just snapped at me because of what happened tonight. I know he means well, but he could've just talked to me about it instead of taking his frustrations out on me with verbal shouting."
"Maybe he's just frustrated with the entire Rollins thing and the authority itself. It's a lot to take-in because this business wants to screw him over in WrestleMania from what I've seen lately. I'm sure he didn't mean to snap at you, Ash."
"I guess you're right. I just wish there was something that I could do."
"I know, Kiddo. I promise that he'll feel better soon."
"Thank you, Dean. I'm going to see if I can find him after the show."
I was getting ready for my match against Charlotte Flair and I had to defend my Diva's Championship. I made my way down the ramp and had the entire crowd chanting my name and seeing Charlotte at the corner of the ring post with her eyes glued to me.
I ran towards Charlotte with a Clothesline and then started to throw some punches. Charlotte tried putting me into the Figure-Four submission. Without hesitation, I grabbed the rope and she was forced to break the submission hold. I stood-up and performed the Blockbuster. Charlotte attempted to stand up and I got onto the ropes again and performed the Moonsault. I landed perfectly onto her and got the pinfall.
"Here is your winner and still the WWE Diva's Champion, Ashley Kay!"
I picked up my championship and walked backstage in better spirits. Immediately, I almost went over to Roman's locker-room to check on him. Then I remembered about what happened between the both of us earlier. I decided on giving him some space to recuperate and went to hang out with The Bellas instead.
"Hey!" I shouted.
"Hey, Ashley!" Nikki said.
"What's up?" Brie asked.
"Nothing much, guys. I just finished my match against Charlotte," I said in between words in attempt to catch my breath, "She almost had me beat with that Figure-Four."
"That submission really hurts! I'm glad you're not hurt!" Brie said.
After we shared a lengthy conversation together, I decided to cut it short and find out where Roman was. I believe that I've given him enough space to calm down after what happened earlier between us. I understood that the authority was getting underneath his skin and it was finally time to go and talk to him.
It was strange for me to notice, but Roman was quite distant. No calls, no texts; while I given him the space to calm down from everything, he's never been so quiet before throughout our relationship.
The authority was nothing but drama. I wasn't happy with the way they treated everyone else in the back. I've noticed that Charlotte, too, has been sending nothing but deathly glares towards me. But why?
I was worried about Roman's well-being and walked towards his locker-room. I knocked twice before hearing his voice emerge from the other side of the door.
"Come in."
