Chapter 10) Who Is This?
After leaving the arena to get something to eat, I was in the car with Roman and Dean with Dean behind the wheel. Suddenly, my phone vibrated in my pocket and I received a random text message from an unknown number.
"Hey, babygirl."
I was confused. Roman realized something didn't feel right and slightly glanced at my phone, "Who is that?"
Confused, I looked at him, "I don't know. I just received this random message. Thing is, I have no clue who it's from."
"I'd block the number if I were you," He chuckled, "It's probably a fan who's crazy for you."
"But Rome, that's not good if they have her number." Dean said, "You know how these creeps are in this world."
"I've never given any fans my phone number. Only some of my close friends and Roman have my number. Nobody else."
"I'm guessing your phone number got leaked somehow. I'm not quite sure, Ashley." Dean said with concern, "I'd be careful just in case."
"I...I don't want to be around people who could possibly harm me, or kill me!" I said, growing anxious.
"Baby, nobody's going to bother you. You're always going to be safe around me."
I sighed, "I'm just going to block the number and hopefully everything will be better afterwards."
Dean pulled over at the restaurant and we walked inside and started to make our reservations. Roman pulled out the chair for me and made sure I was feeling better in the meantime before I began eating.
While I was slowly calming down after the incident; not even five minutes after we had arrived, I heard my phone going off again and it was from another unknown number.
"You'll never know who this is, but Roman isn't the man he claims to be."
I looked at Roman nervously while he was eating his meal. I stared at the random text message in confusion. Who was this person and why is he saying that Roman isn't the man he claims to be?
They both realized that I wasn't saying a word for five minutes and they stared at me. "What's wrong, Ashley?" Dean asked.
I replied, "Sorry, I was just zoned out for awhile."
"I feel like it's something much more deeper than that." Roman said, looking over towards Dean, "Can you excuse us, Ambrose?"
"Of course."
Roman and I walked outside of the restaurant with his hand intertwining with mine. When we went to a secluded area by ourselves, he looked at me with concern as our eyes began to meet.
"What's all going on? Did something happen that I should know about?" He asked.
"I don't know if I should tell you."
"Ashley, please tell me what happened."
"Alright. While we were eating, my phone vibrated again from another unknown number after I blocked the other one. Apparently, this person said you're not the man you say you are."
Roman started to softly chuckle. "Not the man I say I am? Baby, I'm not a bad person. Ignore that bastard, they're just trying to scare you into thinking I'm some abuser. I'd never put my hands on a woman." He said.
"I'll ignore them. But how do they know about us and our relationship?"
"Hm, I don't know. I feel like we should get you back to the hotel to relax for the evening. And I'll be right here through it all. I'm not letting you stay to yourself tonight, not until you're feeling better, Ashley."
Roman walked into the restaurant and had a small chat with Dean whilst sitting back in his chair, "Hey Ambrose, we need to head back to the hotel. Something's come up with Ashley and I need to be there for her."
"I understand." Dean said whilst paying for the dinner with his credit card before leaving the restaurant with Roman and I.
They both checked on me every minute inside of the vehicle until we arrived at the hotel. Upon arrival, Dean brought me into his embrace while Roman walked up to the manager and checked into our rooms.
"Listen, kiddo. Whoever this person could be is clearly trying to get into your head and scare you into thinking that Roman's a bad person; I've known him for years and let me tell you, he's nothing but an amazing man. He's loyal, caring, and very trustworthy. know he wouldn't let anyone hurt you. Take my word for it. Roman's a very loving man and the one thing that he'd never do is disrespect a woman that he loves, nor would he ever hurt her. You're safe with him." He says.
"Thank you for the reassurance, Dean. I needed to hear those words."
"Anytime, Ashley."
After Roman was finished checking into our room and had the key, Dean fist-bumped Roman and went to check into his room. Arriving to the room, Roman sat his duffel bag onto the floor near the closet and sat down next to me.
"Baby, we need to talk."
"Sure, what is it?" I asked.
"I don't want to bombard you with questions, but have you ever had things like this happen before you became a wrestler?" He asked.
"Not really, no. I've never had this happen to me before; I don't want to lose you."
"I understand that you're terrified about this entire situation, but I can reassure you that nobody is going to ruin our relationship together."
"You're right, but I don't know if we know this person or not. I'm just feeling apprehensive about this ordeal."
"Don't be." He smiled. "They're just lowlifes who love interfering with the relationships of others and don't have a life of their own."
I started feeling reassured once again while I felt his hand trailing against my back and pressing his lips against my forehead. Everything he did in order to comfort me was reassuring, yet comforting. He gently placed his hand on my leg and began teasing me slowly, rubbing my inner thigh with his fingers.
He looked into my eyes before he done anything else, "Are you comfortable with me doing this? I'll stop if you want me to."
I looked down, "Roman, I'm not ready to do this right now."
He looked at me with a smile, "It's okay, I understand. We'll do this when the timing is perfect. I respect you and I don't want you to assume that I'm only with you for your body, because that's not true."
"Thank you."
Roman always cared about my feelings and concerns before doing anything. The text messages from earlier still had me uneasy, and somewhat horrified on the inside. An hour passed and he was in the kitchen and cooking us some dinner.
"Feeling better?" He asked.
"I'm feeling a lot better, actually." I smiled. "Thank you for everything."
"Anytime sweetheart. That's why I'm here, to love and care for you as your boyfriend."
Hearing those words alone made me feel at ease. I started feeling tired after dinner and laid down onto the bed. I felt his hand rubbing my back in attempt to still comfort me after a stressful evening. I buried myself onto his bare chest and from there, I felt comfort, safe, and content with him.
