20

I am done holding back. The Gods will burn. I walk with Hercules up the stairs. My nerves are shot. I'm ready. I don't care of the costs or of the blood I will have to spill. Athena, Poseidon, all told me to close up my heart. Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves. I look down. I'm ready for this.

"Hey... are you nervous?" Meg asks me.

"No. For the first time in my life, I'm not scared." I grip my sword.

"Good. The Gods are really nice." Meg says.

I turn to her in surprise. Nice? They killed off my brothers. They turned me into a madman. I have suffered so much because of the gods. And you have the balls to tell me they're nice? You know nothing, but now it's all about to change.

"Glad you could make it son." Father says.

"Thank you, Dad." I say.

He puts his hand on my shoulder.

"So how you been old boy?" Father asks.

"Good. I uh made a new friend." I say.

"Good. Good. Who?" He asks.

"He's coming here. Don't be mad." I say.

"Mad? Hah. I'm happy for you. I'd love to meet him." He says.

"He's Odysseus." I say.

He stops. The gods exchange nervous looks. Silence falls. I look around. My father... he looks scared.

"What happened? Is... something wrong." I ask.

"I doubt it." I hear.
