Chapter 4
Changing The POVs to Third
"I'll go check something with Jace," Alec told us walking out of the room, as the door closed Amelia got up slowly hoping to go outside. Only, she noticed as the blanket fell off her legs that she was only wearing an oversized shirt and her undergarments, Amelia felt her cheeks heat up as she looked at Isabelle and Clary.
"Ummm where are my clothes?" She stuttered wrapping the blanket around her waist. Clary laughed slightly and Amelia looked over to her she too was wearing a shirt similar to hers just a little larger but she got a short pair of shorts.
"Demon poison," Isabelle said a smile playing on her lips as she pointed to the two outfits laid out on the table "I hope these fit you," Izzy said before walking out leaving the two sisters alone. Amelia walked over to the table picking up one of the outfits grimacing at the style.
"She isn't serious," Amelia said looking at her younger sister
"I think she is, except if she wanted us to go out like this" Clary pointed down to the shirts we were wearing a smile playing on her thin lips, unlike her my lips were fuller, pinker.
"Okay, okay let's change," Amelia said hurriedly, turning around holding the outfit her right hand and the knee-high boots in her other. As she took off the black shirt she caught a whiff of sandalwood. The smell was distinctive warm and sweet at the same time, I like it she thought, it was exotic, different. She threw it on the bed a quickly slipped on the outfit that Isabelle put out for them.
The leather of the skirt was very different from what Amelia usually wear, stiff but not uncomfortable. The shirt, on the other hand, was a little tight around the bust more lose from under it. Probably Isabelle and Amelia have a slightly different body shape but the outfit wasn't unwearable.
Outfit:
Amelia turned around to see Clary already dressed her eyes widening at the low cut shirt and the shortness of the skirt. Clary's phone started to ring and she reached out for it, so I took the chance.
"Clary I'm just gonna go outside for a minute for some fresh air, I'll be right back," Amelia said grabbing her phone and backpack with her, pulling her red and blond hair into a messy bun. She rushed out before anyone could notice and stop her, taking deep breaths of the cool air around her. Amelia went around to the side of the building so if Clary or any of the others went out they wouldn't find her so easily. Sitting down on the cold concrete she plugged her purple headphones in playing one of her personal favorites. It started the melody softly playing into her ears.
Amelia opened her black bag pushing away her ballet shoes and reaching for her sketchbook and charcoal pencils ready to draw. Her pencil skimmed the white paper as Amelia focused on that memory remembering the way she screamed as his body fell. The black charcoal contrasting against the bright paper shading, smudging creating a solid sketch. She stopped to look at the drawing, it was him. The same soft curls and his bright eyes except here his were eyes wide and blank staring into space. Mouth opens slightly blood dripping from his nose. It was Nathan, I took the paper crumbling it up and throwing it. A sigh escaping from my lips, the song changed into a much slower, sadder tune deeper.
Amelia felt a different urge to draw more sudden but not unfamiliar, she looked around checking for her sister's bright hair Amelia saw nothing except a slight movement in the shadows. So once again she flipped to a second page gripping her pencil firmly. When her hand jerked forward, out of control sketching out, shading not stopping. Whenever she would try to withdraw her hand it would shake uncontrollably wanting to continue. It's the same thing that happened when she was at the Academy of Arts with Simon and her sister, Amelia just can stop cant be distracted. She sighed in relief when my hand drew the last line.
I pulled a stray hair back as my eyes gazed in puzzlement at the drawing. This drawing was of an Asian man with dark spikey hair, his hands sparking with power. Though that wasn't the most peculiar thing about him that honor goes to his bright glitter-surrounded eyes. They had slits instead of pupils more like a cat they were colored a bright solid gold. Amelia frowned before covering the drawing.
(this is not my drawing credits to the owner, also just pretend the colors are there)
Amelia pulled off her headphones down about to go back to the institute. Then a dark figure came out of the shadows a crumpled paper in their hand, Amelia jumped up hand going to one of her throwing knives when the person spoke.
"It's me," He said she looked up as the moon shone down on his face and her blue eyes clashed with his hard hazel ones.
"Oh" Amelia muttered looking at the creased paper in his hand she watched as he turned the paper towards her and she was met with the blank dead stare.
"What's this?" Alec asked voice questioning, suspicious. She shuddered, tearing her gaze away to look at the floor instead. Amelia walked over, reaching for the paper but he pulled it back.
"I asked a question, who or what is this?" Alec persisted with the authority in his voice.
"Alec, give it to me," Amelia said her voice low, hand outstretched, she watched as his feet took a step back.
"Not until you answer" He replied voice sharp
"Alec I said give it to me now" Amelia demanded her voice louder, eyes on the paper.
"Do I need to say it again?" He questioned trying to meet her gaze.
"No one," Amelia said before swiftly grabbing the drawing out of his hand, she looked up to see that his frown had deepened, eyes sharp.
"So just a figment of your imagination then?" He said his voice serious, suspicion laced with light sarcasm. Amelia crossed her arms her eyes on the floor again.
"No, his name in Nathan Barnes, and he is human if that's the reason you were asking." She whispered her voice stiff as she stuffed the paper into her bag. He nodded slowly but his eyes flitting his authority a little shortlived.
"Your sister and Isabelle were looking for you" Alec stated a slight awkwardness in his tone which sounded odd next to his earlier sharp one.
"Uhhh okay I'll just get my stuff and follow you back" Amelia responded distractedly pointing to the few scattered pencils and her headphones lying on the ground behind her.
"Fine" he nodded stiffly and headed out, his sharpness back. Amelia grabbed the rest of her stuff and throwing it into her bag putting the straps around her shoulders. Heading towards the main entrance of the institute when Amelia heard a familiar nervous voice stuttering away.
"Simon?" Amelia questioned as she saw him talking to Clary, the last thing she heard was about some meth problem. He turned eyes wide staring at Amelia.
"Wait Amy you too?" He asked his voice a higher pitch than usual "What on earth are you guys doing in an abandoned church wearing these sort of outfits" He continued pointing at their unusual items of clothing. Amelia rolled her eyes as he nearly threw a jacket at Clary Amelia heard a low chuckle turning slightly she saw Jace with his usual amused smirk eyeing the scene.
"Come on I can get you guys both back home" He hurriedly added
"I don't think we have one anymore," Clary said wearing the dark jacket that he gave her
"Why? what do you mean?" Simon stuttered
"Well-" She began slowly but was cut off
"Clary and Amelia Fairchild" A man exclaimed holding another one of those shadowhunters blade. Amelia moved quickly to stand in front of her sister about to reach for her throwing knives, but it turns out she didn't need to. Jace had already moved behind the man his arm wrapped around his neck as the man struggled. Clary gasp out loud but to Amelia, her and Simon questions were tuned out as she focused on the man.
"If you give us the girls I'll let you live" The man choked out aiming his words at Jace. The blonde guy looked at him an expression of mild disgust apparent on his face.
"You're in no position to be making rules" He retorted just as the man elbowed him in the face Amelia made a grab for my knives as the man pulled his sword out again swinging it out nearly hitting Jace. But Jace was quick on his feet as he dodged and landed a few strikes on his own. The man nearly knicked Jace with the blade but Jace held on to it his grip firm.
Amelia took aim before throwing my knife hitting the mans knee. He let out a grunt turning slightly, Jace took advantage of that punching him the face. But what he did next is what shocked Amelia. The blonde turned the blade into its owner cutting through his chest. Amelia froze eyes wide as the man fell to the ground.
"Jace!" Clary yelled running to the blonde Simon was confused looking at Clary as if she had grown another arm.
"Are you crazy?! You just killed a man" Amelia yelled her hands shaking as she pointed at the body. Amelia took a deep breath looking away from the spurt of blood on the floor.
"Is he actually dead?" Clary asked, Amelia, rolled her eyes at her stupid question
"No Clary he just likes to be stabbed and fall to the ground not moving while blood spilled around him, its one of my hobbies too," Amelia said her voice dripping with sarcasm and annoyance, Jace smiled at that.
"Wait, What are you two talking about?" Simon blurted out eyes fleeting between the two of them.
"Jace, could you deglamorize or something so my best friend doesn't think we're crazy?" Clay sighed
"I think it's too late for that" Amelia muttered at the freaked out expression of the nerds face, She watched as Jace took out his stele running it over the rune on his side. Amelia watched as Simons eyes focus on the guy that basically for him materialized out of nowhere
"What the..." He whispered as his eyes also trailed to the dead body on the floor
"Clary that's a dead body we have to call Luke," Simon said his voice shocked
"We can't trust Luke," Amelia said her voice a low hiss, You can kill them all she remembered the careless way he talked about her and her family her and frowned.
"This is the same man at the police station the one that took our mother," Clary said turning to face Jace.
"He is a member of The Circle, Clary, he is here for both of you" Jace replied giving Amelia a sideway glance, Amelia looked away with a sigh as the two continued to argue.
"Clary come on, I have to keep you and your sister safe" Jace insisted his gaze on Clary's stubborn green eyes. At those words, Amelia whirled around frowning at the blonde.
"I can take care of both of us thank you very much" Amelia retorted her voice sharp, daring for him to question her abilities, she watched as Jace tiredly looked up at her.
"I'm not saying you cant but you don't know what your fighting you don't even have the right weapons" He explained slowly making Amelia's frown deepen, who the hell did he think he was.
"Listen I promise you two, I'll help you find your mother. But you two are one of us Shadowhunters" Jace explained his voice soft trying to convince the two girls
"What are you talking about? Clary, Amelia you don't know this guy, all right. Just come with me both of you, I can help" Simon said, Amelia rolled her eyes at his stupid attempt and watched with some sort of fascination as Jace tried to convince them too. It was like watching a tennis match Amelia watched slightly amused wondering who would win. It was obvious who Clary was going with though she picked the strong, handsome shadowhunter over the nerdy best friend. Amelia grinned slightly at the irony of it all.
"Clary come on let's go" Simon insisted turning slightly towards his van, Clary held on to his hands and started speaking softly.
"Simon, I think Jace can help us" She insisted Amelia watched as Simons expression turned to full shock and Jaces to one of satisfaction as he turned back towards the institute, and Clary started to follow him. Amelia moved next to Simon patting his shoulders lightly
"What?" He muttered his face confused Amelia smiled
"Let's go Si," She said pulling the shell-shocked Simon along
"How do you know that this Mick Jagger looking guy is even gonna try-" Simon got cut off by Jace who turned his face annoyed
"Mundane, we don't have the time," He said before walking up the stairs
"Come on Simon lets go," Clary said nearly dragging the poor boy up the stairs, Amelia walked behind them her feet light, and her smile still intact. When Amelia walked into the Instuites doors she saw Jace using his stele to draw some type of rune. Simon was staring as the stele slowly burned into his skin before looking up at Clary his expression disbelieving.
"I know, trust me" The red-haired replied smiling as Amelia walked in.
"Do you see this it's like he is burning himself" Simon whispered, Amelia, walked over and stood next to him before leaning over to whisper back.
"He isn't deaf," Amelia said as she looked over to Jace who smiled slightly at her words but was still concentrating on drawing the rune into his forearm. Simon shot her a glare before sighing. Jace reached for his hand gripping it firmly in his own looking straight ahead, Amelia watched as Simon tried to flinch away.
"Buddy, what's going on, man?" Amelia smiled at his attempt off pulling his hand out off Jaces firm grip
"I'm not your type man, I don't even..." His voice cut off as he stared at the institute eyes wide. Amelia laughed before walking forward into the institute her eyes looking around at the complicating technology, reaching for one hoping that she could use one to find her mother but before she could. A man blocked her way, she looked tilted her face up, her eyes meeting with the stern gaze of Alec Lightwood.
"Who bought the mundane into the institute"
I am so sorry that I haven't written in a while I forgot to upload this chapter, I have a ton of tests coming for the end of the year but after that, I will write more :) If you noticed I changed Angelina's name to Amelia because I thought that Amelia was an easier name.
