𝓲. paradise on earth
OUTERBANKS, PARADISE ON EARTH. You would've never thought the small town in South Carolina would lead to so many adventures, but it does. Between the parties and reckless teenagers, it couldn't get worse. Right?
A particular teenager, Layora Rae, was known for her parties; the good vibes were almost to die for with the Pogues and Kooks together for one night. The hatred between the two sides, Southside and the cut, lingered across arrogance, Layora thought. Despite her being a kook, she hated the idea of hating Pogues.
The laughter echoed across the beach, drinking and new-found hookups were occurring in front of everyone's eyes. Layora, of course, arrived to her own party late, holding a bottle in one hand and her best friend, Maia, in the other. Maia and Layora have been friends since the second grade, their dads were practically brother's. They've been attached by the hip since then.
Layora made her way to her friends, John B, Pope, JJ and Kie, cheering along with them. "There's our favorite kook!" John B echoed, ruffling her hair sweetly with an embrace. Kiara hugged her tight, rocking back and fourth with her before doing the same with Maia. "Hey, brainy," Layora teased, giving Pope a handshake.
She locked eyes with JJ, looking him up and down. Tension lingered between them before he finally broke the silence. "Miss me yet?" JJ flirted, taking a sip of his beer as the others chatted amongst themselves. Layora let out a chuckle, her angelic voice filling his ears. "In your dreams, Maybank." She joked, staring up at him with a flirty smile.
Eventually, he gave in whilst wrapping an arm around her shoulder in a flirty manner. John B spoke up, eyeing them in confusion. "Thanks for setting this up for us, Rae. Don't know what we would do without you," John B said, taking a swing of his beer. "Anytime— you guys know I got you." Layora smiled.
Maia was the one who introduced Layora to the pogues, and they all almost immediately clicked with her like they had knew her for years. It confused them all, but they grew to love their own differences with her. Maia eyed Pope, a blush creeping onto her face, "Hey, Mai'," Pope called out, a requited look in his eyes. "Hi, Pope." Maia softly waved, before nervously twirling a piece of her hair.
Layora smiled at this, her heart fluttering for her. She wanted Maia to be happy. Who wouldn't? She was everything to everyone. "We'll catch you guys later, okay?" Layora stated, everyone approving as the duo walked away, their feet getting caught in the sand. She softly pushed Maia, scoffing at her playfully. "What was that?"
Maia raised her eyebrows, giggling. "I have no idea what you're talking about, Lay'," she begun before she was cut off, "Girl, stop lying!" They laughed, talking amongst themselves.
Rafe Cameron watched closely standing by his plug as he waited for him to finish counting all of his cash. He was the kook king, the arrogant, ignorant one at that. Rafe was everything she was against.
As she walked past, he caught her eye. Layora turned head to keep eye contact; a wide smile turning into a smirk as she looked at him. She turned back to Maia with a soft eye roll, which only rose his curiosity. He rolled his own once he saw the duo become a trio once again, but this time, with his sister.
"Your here!" Layora cheered, all of their aura's could be seen as vibrant in this moment, especially from Rafe's perspective. The three of them had been all hanging out since the were tweens and whenever Layora got the chance, she was a bitch to him. He understood why, but he couldn't help but be so intrigued with her.
But, of course, the night was ended recklessly. JJ shooting, John B almost being drowned by Sarah's boyfriend, Topper, and Maia being blackout drunk for the first time. She couldn't deny she didn't have fun, even though that was bound to happen on a beach filled with kooks and Pogues, whom all hate each other.
Rafe walked around his yard, of course, day drinking. The outer banks had just been hit by a hurricane, which tore the place up for and an electric outage. "Agatha's a bitch," he joked, laughing along with Kelce and Topper.
Kelce and Topper were basically split copies of Rafe. Arrogant, delusion and cocky pricks, Layora Rae.
"I mean, I can't get it out my head. It's just on repeat," Topper began. He and John B were in a fight which lead to him attempting to drown John B. JJ being the loose cannon, he just couldn't help himself and brought the gun out on Top, pointing it at his head.
The sound of clicking echoed amongst the large group watching the fight, unsure what to do as Topper dug John B's head into the water. "JJ!" Layora yelled among everyone, pulling Maia back with her as JJ pressed a gun to Topper. "Your move, broski!"
"It's just on repeat. "Your move, broski." Topper quoted. "Bro, had a semiautomatic pointed at your head," Kelce added, trying to bring his buddy security. "They're freaking Pogues, man." Rafe stated, judgment lingering in his voice.
Layora groaned loudly, making her way outside. She walked over to Sarah, tapping her phone impatiently. "Sarah, I can't fucking get this phone to work." She groaned, Rafe turning his head at her voice. His eyes lingered over her appearance, his sunglasses hiding his look. Fortunately, her sunglasses hid hers aswell which was laced with annoyance at just the sight of him.
She quickly turned her attention back to Sarah, who was climbing a wired pole. "Watch her fall and make a big drama out of it," Rafe commented, which added to her annoyance. She slowly turned her head to look at him, before looking at Topper. "How's your head? No head trauma— how many fingers am I holding up?" Layora teased, sliding her glasses on the top of her head. Kelce muffled a laugh, noticing Toppers serious expression.
"That's not funny, I had a gun pointed at me. That's very insensitive," she pouted at his words tilting her head slightly, "Awe," her words only angered him more. "You know you had it coming, right?" She questioned, genuinely unsure. "Oh, so getting a gun pointed at me by your little boyfriend was okay?" Topper clapped back, ignoring his own girlfriend in the back. "If he wasn't gonna do it, I was." She shrugged turning her attention back to Sarah as she walked over to her.
The three boys were left baffled, all watching her. Their expression all said different things; lust, anger and interest. It was pretty obvious.
Layora made her way back into the home, greeting Rose warmly. She could feel Rafe's eyes on her whilst walking through the home, obviously looking for something. She jumped softly once Rafe came infront of her, rolling her eyes. "You scared me," she admitted, moving her hair out of her face.
He hummed in response, crossing his arms. "Don't you, um, have your own home you can go to or something?" Rafe rudely said, though his voice wasn't mean. It was soft and almost, calm? She looked him up and down rudely, obvious confidence radiating off of her, "Don't you have some more bitching to do?"
Rafe laughed roughly at this, sliding his hands into his pockets. Truth was, Layora didn't hate Rafe. She barely knew him herself. Despite the many years of being involved with his family, all they ever did was argue. How could you hate someone you barely knew? But, she avoided him as much as she could, in fear of not hating him at all.
"You know, your a real pain in the ass, right? Just lingerin' around," he took a step closer and she could feel the tension. She crossed her arms, looking up at him with the same look, this time a small smirk on her face. "Well, lucky for you, I'm here for your sister. Never you." Layora folded stated, the look in her eyes saying otherwise.
Rafe scoffed, nodding. He licked his lips, sighing. "Portable chargers in the desk, top shelf." He deadpanned, pushing himself out of her way with a bump of their shoulders. Layora rolled her eyes, mocking him.
Gosh, did he get on her nerves.
MAIA STOOD infront of a graveyard, crossing her arms coldly. She was cold as hell and now they had her doing a stupid treasure hunt. She walked close to Pope, watching as they lifted Kiara up into the small section, "Guys, I don't like this. JJ was just barking at a snake!" She admitted, Pope's eyes furrowing.
He rubbed her shoulder, his chocolate brown eyes looking into hers. "JJ knows what he's doing for the most part," She tilted her head at his attempted joke, making his chuckle. He retracted his hand from her shoulder, shaking his head. He was unsure of it aswell but, they had to do it. For John B.
The Pogues were unsure about their new discoveries, anxiety coursing through their blood as they ran out the gate. It always starts off with innocence and fun, but as time is guaranteed to fly by, so can change.
